Finally upgraded to ios 4.1

I have a question.......I thought that iphone 3G's were suppose to be able to change the home screen wallpaper once you "upgraded" to the new IOS. Did Apple change this?

multitasking, wallpaper, and battery % are not supported on the 3G with the factory firmware. notice the word "factory." Search google for details

You say you have iOS 7. If you are a developer you have access to the private OS 7 developer's forum

  • HT204409 WI FI won't connect after upgrade to IOS 7.1

I upgraded to 7.1.  Now my phone connects to my Western Digital MyNet900 but will not go to internet.  Have tried WPA and WPA\WPA2 and WPA2 (personal) encryption but nothing works.  WMM is enabled.  I have an Amped Wireless access point AP300 set up and can connect on it for the internet.  I was going to internet through WD router prior to upgrade. HELP PLEASE

Update: Again...  I upgraded to iOS 7.1 on my iPhone5s 32 G last night and after the upgrade...no WiFi.  I attempted many of the fixes on this and other threads but what finally seems to have solved the problem was for me to:
    1.     Back up and sync my phone to my Win 7 computer.
    2.     Select "Restore iPhone" to factory defaults, using the computer iTunes interface (as opposed to selecting "Full Reset" in Settings on phone).
    3.     Restore the back-up from the computer.
I Now have normal WiFi functionality.
BTW...it also eliminated 8 or so Gigs of "Other" data previously noted on my Summary page for the phone in iTunes.

I have looked at the "More" part but again radio is not an option.
    Can you help?

Just wait a bit.  Turn it off, then back on.
I don't know why, but after the update it doesn't show up right away.
When it finally does, you will find a red icon on the bottom of the screen, on the left side.

  • My touch screen on my iPhone 4S not working after upgrading to ios 7?

I upgraded to iOS 7 and all the sudden when I go to type in my code to unlock my phone it is really laggy, when I finally get into my phone and go to use the keyboard to type a message it acts like I haven't even touched the screen when I go to type.

Unfortunately with all of the problems and such an unstable OS today is my last day using my iPhone. I love my phone and have had it on my company business account for the last 4 years but it has become so prohibitive to use as a business tool I am forced to move to the company’s Galaxy based phone. I hope at some point in the future things will improve and I can once again have my iPhone back on the company plan.  Good luck all I will be rooting for you.

  • IPhone 4S wont sync music after upgrading to iOS 7 on windows 7

After upgrading to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4S, I lost all my music.
When I try and sync (USB) with iTunes 11.1 (on Windows 7)
it hangs at the last step "waiting for changes to be applied" (step 5 of 5)
i am looking for weeks for a solution to this problem and i saw meny pepole suffer from it
but still i cannot find a way to fix it
    help me please

You got it downloaded and I assume you mean it is installed as well.  It was buggy for me.
I had to close and restarted iTunes before I could use it properly.
Then, I had to unplug and replug in my phone before it recognises it.
Just had to try everything.  As final choice, update over the air.  I try to avoid it as it tends to have more problems than a tethered update.

  • HT4623 How do upgrade my iOS on an older iPad?

How do I upgrade an older iPad so I can get the directtv app?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
        1.    Go into the iPad's Settings.
        2.    Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
        3.    The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
        4.    Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
        5.    Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
        1.    If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
        2.    Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
        3.    After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
        4.    If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
        5.    After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
        6.    From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
        7.    After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
        8.    After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Yahoo mail sync issue after upgrade to iOS 5

After i have upgraded to iOS 5 my emails from Yahoo are a month off.
Only the emails from a month before are synchronized. As an example, today 10/24 I can see the emails from until 9/13.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ok, thanks everyone's experience sharing with each other. after I try so many time with my bro for this issue, finally we got solution to solve this issue.
I'm using iPhone 4 and my bro is using iPod touch 4th Generation, we both upgrade to iOS 5,
then I was thinking that when I do Facetime setting, there is a selection that you can use your Apple ID as your Facetime account, so I changed my Facetime account with Apple ID, the default setting is using your phone number. then its works!!  now I can use Facetime with my bro in airplane mode.
I guess before I upgrade iOS 5, iOS 4 allow Facetime auto detect to use phone number(if airplane mode is off) or use Apple ID, which your email address to connect to another user, but iOS 5 not allow it or disable auto detect, (I just guess).
anyway now I only use Apple ID as my Facetime account, then I can use Facetime under airplane mode. hope it help you guys.

  • Problems with music app after upgrading to iOS 5

i'm very particular with the organization of my ipod stuff. it has to have album art and it has to be properly sorted out by artist and album. after upgrading to iOS 5 i found several problems with the music app:
    1. some artists dont show on the artist section. i've tried fixing the album artist info, sorting info etc and nothing.
    2. some albums duplicate themselves in the albums section and it only gets cured if you delete a certain song in the album. if you try putting the song back the albums duplicate again.
    3. some album art dont show. i've tried plugging in the album cover directly to the song/s in the ipod, and deleting the song and recopying the song from itunes and still nothing.
    anyone care to weigh in?
did i mess up the installation?

I just spent hours trying to solve same (I have a iPod Touch 4th Gen) and I am very picky about its organization too. What I can tell you:
1- The artists suddenly not showing in the artist section:  Double-check that their albums are not marked as "part of a compilation"... because I had 8 artists disappearing after the upgrade and all their albums were marked as "part of...". After removing that "compilation" tag, all 8 artists reappeared where they had been all along under the previous iOS, namely under the Artists category.
2- I had an album that did not want the artwork to show. And each time I was able to transfer it back with the art, it would duplicate tracks on the iPod Touch. I finally was able to solve it by deleting manually from the iPod the album (by slowing dragging my finger to the right on the album title and click on the delete button when it appeared) then by deleting it also from the iTunes library and syncing. Then I reloaded the album in iTunes and resynced on the iPod Touch and the album reappeared without duplicates and with the artwork.
3- Finally, one album was correct (track-wise) but no artwork. I double-checked everything and manually check the info for each track and 2 tracks had not artwork attached to it and a 3rd had 2 artworks. I manually attached the correct artwork to each track THEN to the whole album. Then I resynced and everything FINALLY worked fine.
    OUFF!

  • I just upgraded to iOS 7. over by 1.58 Gb

I just upgraded to iOS 7. when it first restarted iTunes said I was over by 1.58 Gb. As soon as I unchecked one playlist that is about 500 Mb it said I had 1.5 Gb of room. I then sync'd my iPhone 4S. undocked from the computer and then plug it back in. I then attempted to add the 500mb playlist back on the iPhone and once again I was 1.5 Gb over capacity. After unchecking the playlist I resync'd my phone undcok it restarted it andthen plug it back in. This time I tried to add one album of pictures consisting of 30 from iPhoto. Once again I was over by 1.5 Gb. I then tried an album from iPhoto that had four pictures. And I was over by 1.5 Gb. i have 1.5Gb of room untill I try to add anything, It appears to me to be a problem with iOS 7. anyone else have this problem?

I would love an answer to this question! This used to happen to me with iOS 6, I finally figured out how to get the stupid thing to stop doing that without a full restore, but now it's doing it again with iOS 7 and the old tricks don't work! I'm in the middle of a 7,000 mile road trip, so I'm a little more than angry that I no longer have any music on my iPod because it thinks it's over capacity by 15GB. Talk to anyone who might be tech-savvy enough to help and they assume it must be user-error and patronizingly explain what the "Other" category is, professing that the device couldn't possibly be wrong.

  • I lost all of my information after trying to upgrade to iOS 5

    Hello.
i have ipod touch 4th gen, 32 GB.
just tried upgrading to iOS 5.
first had issues with downloading. finally managed to download.
now i does not let me restore my information after installing iOS 5.
first it tells me "10 minutes remaining". then the time goes up and up. after it reaches 10 hours, error messege pops "iTunes could not restore because backup could not be saved on this computer":
    http://i.imgur.com/FLLd0.png
same thing happens when i restore to default, and then try to restore again from my backup.
i am frastrated. i have a serious headache. 5 hours of trying to upgrade. i really want to CRY (really).
i REALLY need ALL of my information. including contacts, calendar and internal information of application i bought (like 2Do, awesome note etc.). i can not afford myself losing all of this information. i have no other backup. this information worth more then 5k $ to me.
what can i do? i need HELP.
only thing it let me restore is my music.

Try moving the existing backup file to a safe location so that iTunes has to create an entire new file. If you get a successfull backup you can delete the moved backup.  The backup is located:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.
