Finance app

Can anyone recommend an app similar to Microsoft's Money programme to use on my iMac? Thanks.

Thanks for that. I did look at Moneydance which had good and not so good reviews. I just want a simple personal finance package to record transactions and reconcile with monthly bank statements. Would you recommend it for this. I am not interested in linking online to the banks.
Hi Ian,
This will be an interesting search, which I started myself as a long time Money user a while ago. Until now have not found a decent replacement, but maybe it's because I'm using some advanced features in Money like tracking employee stock options and complex split transactions. Just like you, I don't care about connectivity to banks, but I do care a lot about getting daily updated exchange rates and stock quotes, also from markets outside the US.
Some recommendations:
Everybody has different requirements: don't look too much to the reviews, but try the app out yourself, as most apps offer a trial version. It's you who has to decide if you're comfortable with the features and the user interface, not a reviewer or us on this forum. I read rave reviews about many packages, but in the end they couldn't do what I wanted them to do, or they they didn't do it in a way I could live with.
In case you intend to bring over your existing Money data, look and also try the import capabilities, either the original Money format or QIF and CSV, which Money can export.
Take also into account how active the developer is in terms of upgrading their app: you don't want to be stuck with 10 years of financial data in an app that won't run on the next version of OS X. In this context I can recommend you to be very hesitant moving to Quicken: you'll find tons of posts on these forums about this subject.
Apart from Moneydance, which has already been recommended before, two other apps you might want to look at are See Finance and iBank. I both consider them worthy successors to Money, but in my case they just miss some of the advanced features I need.
As an alternative you can always run Money under Windows in a virtual machine using Parallels, VM Fusion or VirtualBox. This is what I actually do, with my Money file in a Mac OS X Shared Folder, nicely backed up by Time Machine every hour. Not ideal, but until it will do for the moment.
Hope this helps,
Eric

  • How do I use a large finance app with ipad .eg moneydance

I see in the ipad add the guy says you dont need a computer with the ipad....how do I use a personal finance app eg moneydance sort of like quiken i guess and keep track of a years transactions for tax purposes .  ??

The answer to that depends 100% on how Moneydance (or any application, for that matter) works with the iPad.
The iPad doesn't have any significant local storage, so don't look to load all your expenses, receipts, etc. into it in the same way you would with a desktop app.
In general there are two approaches to iPad-based applications like this. One is that they use an internet (or 'cloud') based service where all your data is held in the cloud and your iPad is used to access it. The other is that the iPad syncs with a full-featured desktop application. A quick look at Moneydance's web site indicates they use the latter - syncing to a desktop based application.
The time will come when you don't need that desktop, but it's not quite here yet, depending on what it is you want to do.

  • Best personal finance app for mac?

I'm looking for the best finance app for my iMac. I'm most interested in tracking my accounts -- banking and investments. I'd like to have the software on my two iMacs and on 2 MacBooks without purchasing the product 4 times. Budgeting function is not a great need as I'm retired. I've been using Quicken for Windows.

Why not stay with Quicken and use Quicken for Mac? I searched the support site for you and found that you will be licensed for three installations with one purchase. So, unless you can forego quicken on one computer, you will have to purchase two copies.

  • I updated to Yosemite and now I can't open my YNAB finance app. There is a question mark in the Dock where the App should be and when I hover over the question mark it does say YNAB but I can't open it.

I updated to Yosemite and now I can't open my YNAB finance app. There is a question mark in the Dock where the App should be and when I hover over the question mark it does say YNAB but I can't open it. When I double click on the question mark nothing happens. Has the link to YNAB been broken with the update? Has this happened to anyone else?

    Check the Application folder.
If it is not there, contact YNAB Finance for a OS X Yosemite compatible version of the application.
    Best.

  • LegalApp vs Finance App

We are at the very beginning stage of implementation of BPC.  We are planning to use it for both Consolidations and Planning.  At this time, we are awaiting the system insatallation.
Both Consolidations and Planning require the following:
Eliminations, Currency conversions, Validations, Equity and minority interest postings, intercompany bookings, automatic adjustments and at least 8 reporting currencies.  The rules and master data should be leveraged by both functions - Consolidations and Planning.
The question is: In the interest of time and efficiency, does one start with the preconfigured Finance App or the preconfigured LegalApp?....or does it even matter because per the admin manual "You can add available tables to an app"
    Thank you.

In the case you want to use the business rules, I would start with the LegalApp since this app has much more preconfigured business rules tables for eliminations etc.
Personally I always think it's easier to get rid of what you don't need then to create something you need which is not yet in the application.

  • Yahoo Finance app in Mission Control is not downloading/retrieving data.  What do I need to do?  Apple store computers have same app and are working fine.

The Yahoo Finance app in Mission Control is not retrieving info concerning stocks prices.  It will go to the Yahoo Finance page.  I went to the Apple Store and this app appears to be working just fine on their new computers
.  What could be the problem?

MacBook Pro and Mac Pro are not the same machine.   The MacBook Pro is a notebook, and the Mac Pro is a desktop.   Regardless, the question you have pertains more to Quicktime or iMovie, as both those are video importing applications.     Do you wish me to ask a moderator to redirect your question to either forum?
    There are forums for each.
One application I found is great for importing non-Apple compatible video formats is http://www.etinysoft.com/total-video-converter-hd.html though you may need to get a Flash Card reader that supports your camera's flash card on a Mac to import the video.

  • Launch Copy Package for OWNERSHIP app from within the FINANCE app

Is it possible to launch the standard COPY package from within another application?
    My case is:
I have an OWNERSHIP application with the standard dimensions ENTITY,TIME,CATEGORY,OWNACCOUNT,INTCO. I would like to copy my ownership data from one period to another as it is faster than doing data input for all my entities
    Now the challenge:
I would like to launch this standard COPY package that copies OWNERSHIP data from within the FINANCE application. Otherwise the user always needs to switch from applications.
I know it was possible in v4, but I seem to forget something when trying it v7.0 SP7.
    Any help is much appreciated

    Dear Shoba,
    I tried the following macro
    Sub copytest()
    Application.Run ("MNU_eData_SelectPackage(""Copy"",""system files/Copy.dtsx"",""Company"",""Ownership"")")
    End Sub
When I was in the legalapp, copy package was opened but with the dimensions of the legalapp
When I changed of to the ownership and tried the macro again, it gave me the good dimensions, but that was not the purpose
When I copied the package and changed the %APP%ù it didnt work either
I even changed %dim% to ownaccount, time, category, legalentity, intco and then the good dimensions appeared when launching the package but he gave an error when selection ownaccount, as it is not a dimension of the legalapp.
    Do you see other possibilities?
    br,
    Benjamin

  • How to install Simple Finance Apps for SAP Fiori?

    My system:
    1. ERP 6.0 EHP 7
    2. Netweaver Gateway installed
    3. HANA db on different machine
    What I have done:
    1. I installed the add-on that I got from SMP. The apps seem to be present on the server side.
    2. I added the necessary roles to my user so that I could use the apps in Fiori Launchpad.
    3. Logged on to Fiori Launchpad and I can see the apps there, however every Tile that appears has a text "Cannot load tile" on it.
Looking at /IWFND/ERROR_LOG I see that the service gives "Resource Chip not found" error.
    Questions:
    1. How can I debug Fiori Launchpad related errors to find out why tiles don't load.
    2. Can somebody please provide an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide to install SFIN apps so that I could make sure that I did everything right.

    Hello Rauno,
    1. Open the Fiori Launchpad in Google Chrome using Chrome Developer Tools. Do you see any errors in Console or Network?
    2. The SAP Help Portal documentation, e.g. Installation Information for SAP Fiori for the SAP Simple Finance Add-On 1.0, encompasses several activities which may be relevant to the error: System profile configuration, service activation, authorizations, applicable SAP notes, and so forth.
    Regards,

  • Personal finance apps

What is the best personal finance/checkbook app for the MacBook Pro that syncs with the iPad?

I would not use a Microsoft OS to do this. If you are concerned about the security of your info over WiFi I suggest you not make use of Mac OS. Recent headlines show that they are considering hiring Windows Vista security persons to beef up  theirs.
Vista?! I can see for miles and so can everybody else.

  • Finance App's

    Hi you all,
I would like to find out if there is good Finance management software which I can use for simple home finance and I can download for free. There are many App's in MacUpdate, yet I was not sure which one should I get.
If you do not mined, what is the financial software that some of you are using?
    Thank you all.
    Powerbook 667 15 & 1 Ghz 12   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Don't have one. We used to use Quicken but found it so difficult to use and so error prone we've given up on it. Our bank has a Quicken-like interface online that we can access via Safari - and it has the advantage of being accurate.

  • Checkbook or finance app?

Back in the days before I used PDAs or iPhone, I used Quicken to balance my finances.
then i used a palm lifedrive to keep my checkbook up to date (SplashMoney program) but when I got the iPhone in December I started using ClearCheckbook but found that typing on the iPhone keyboard and the format of ClearCheckbook was a pain so I got lazy with using it.
Is there an app out there that I can use to balance my finances that also can be used on my Macbook? I think I would go back to my better habits if I had the option of noting my spending and deposits if I could do it both on my iPhone and Macbook and have it be able to sync.
    thanks for any tips.

SplashMoney exists for iPhone, and iBank also has a web-based syncing solution (I think they plan a native app for iPhone). I think there might be one more or so in the App Store.

  • Personal finance app (help me!)

    Dear users,
for days desperately i'm searching a program with these features:
    - Management software for family money/cash (Moneycontrol type, for instance);
    - Available for both Mac and iPhone;
    - With synchronized with iCloud data between various devices;
    - The producer of which is not escaped and is not unavailable for 3 years, leaving a final version from the times of the cows; :-)
    - That work and with a efficient synchronization between devices with iCloud (and with these two conditions have excluded 99% of the App Store); :-)
Even for a fee. Thank you!
