1. what is the "Actual" Transaction data require for P&L Planning?
2. what is the "Actual" Transaction data require for Sales ?

Hi,
Usually, we maintain the dimension called category which is similar to versions in SAP terminology. This dimension will have "actual", "budget", "forecast", etc. When the planning starts, a budget will be created for the entire year. Then a rolling forecast is started, which is executed every month or as per the requirement. This forecasted value will be stores in the "forecast" category. Now, when each month passes by, the business gets the actual values. For example, lets say that you are doing a sales planning. Once each month passes by, you get the actual sales the business has done in that month. This value will be stored in the "actual" category.

Dear SAP Support,
I used the SAP BPC 5.1 SP 3 and Ms.SQL Server 2005 SP 2 in my dev environment , I have upgrade it to be SP 11 and Ms.SQL Server 2005 SP3. SAP BPC upgrade for server, Administration, and Client(office) ran perfectly and based on the SAP BPC documentation, but I really confuse when I log in the SAP BPC Administration Console, appears the error window as following:
Public member 'SetMemberSheetVer' on type 'FormMain' not found
How to solve it please ? Please expert could help me.

When you process dimension for the first time, a message window will pop up asking to select the version, 2003 or earlier, or 2007. Once this option has been selected. It creates an entry in the table tblDefaults and cannot be changed later.
If you have selected 2003 or earlier, then the dimensions will be saved with .xls extension. In this case, all the excel versions (including 2007) can open the dimension sheets.
If you have selected 2007, the dimensions will be saved with .xlsx extension. In this case, the dimension sheets can be opened only if your system has 2007. If any system has 2003 or earlier version, then they will not be able to open the dimension sheets.
In this case, you need to go to the table and explicitly mention the version in MEMBERSHEET_VERSION.

Reply: Approval process works with changes in the work status settings while data planning moves over the controlling Approval hierarchy. So in the schedule you can have a display of the current work status using EVLCK()
Ques: Can we do Approval Process with Custom menus ?

Stress testing tools for SAP BPC 7.0 Microsoft version

Hi all
I was wondering if there are any stress testing tools that can be used with SAP BPC 7.0 MS to simulate hundreds of users using the application simultaneously and thus testing the performance.

There are tools to perform the performance analysis of BPC, one is loadrunner. But be careful when defining the "hundreds of users using the application simultaneously"; There are many scenarios in my mind, where you could have several hundred users using BPC, but not sending or retrieving data at the exact same time. You might check the SAP sit eto see if any presentations are posted from the Sapphire conference this Spring.

How to use the RateEntity dimension in SAP BPC?

Hello everbody,
I am implementing a consolidation process using SAP BPC. I want to use the RateEntity dimension, to translate a same currency into different exchange rates depending on the company.
I want the company which ID is GFU (which is from Brazil) in LegalEntity dimension is converted using a special exchange rate. I have added a GFU member in RateEntity dimension, and I have entered the exchange rates for the member GFU and for the member Global in RateEntity dimension.
But the problem is that after I run the FX Restatement package, converted data for this company is not the proper one, because Global exchange rates have been used instead of GFU exchange rates. Does anybody know why? Do I have to do anything else?

There are three ways you can load Master Data in BPC
1) Copy and paste.
Download master data in flat file .Copy the master data and paste in members of dimension after that process the dimension.
2) Using SISS Pakage - load Flat File into BPC-Cube
3) Using SQL Command.

You are right. The link is like MS platform only. This is because there are not much differences between the 2 platforms. Few of the differences would be
1. BPC NW is integrated with NW BI
2. BPF is not available in BPC NW 7.0. However, it is back in 7.5
3. Increased dimensionality
3. Integration with BI accelerators
4. Improved dynamic templates
5. Books are not available
6. Transports are available.
There is a book BPC 330, which will give you a better understanding of BPC NW. This book is only available on classroom trainings.

Reports from SAP BPC NW 7.5

SAP BOBJ XI 3.1 (WebI/Crystal/Xcelsius)
SAP BPC NW 7.5
We are new to BPC. We would like to know where do we need to develope the reports on BPC data. Can some one help me on this. If some one have any best practices or options that where we can develope the reports, pls let me know
Like we can do reporting directly on BPC with only couple of reports from BW/BOBJ or all reports from BW/BOBJ.
Here we are planning to use BW as warehouse solution and BOBJ tools for reporitng on BW data.

Hi Bala,
BPC is a planning & a reporting tool. It can also be used for Consolidation. As mentioned in the previous reply, the data in BW has to be made available in BPC Application (cube) to be able to report it out.
You might need to create transformation files and conversions files between your BW cubes and the BPC cubes to realise the data transfer to BPC application (cube). Note, BPC cubes are automatically generated when you create an application from the BPC front end.
Please refer to some good introductory blogs available on SDN to get to know the BPC terminology and BW terms. Then BPC has an reporting tool in itself. You can create reporting using EVDRE for example which displays the data landed in BPC cubes. This typically will have actual data (loaded from BW), plan data (planned through Input Schedules or flat file data loads).

Consolidation for SAP BPC

HI Gurus,
I have gone through the documentation provided by SAP for SAP BPC Admin document
which just talks about the various business rules available for consolidation.
Can someone o explain in brief the sequence steps that one needs to follow for consolidation? (e.g. First develop the dimensions - account, entity, etc., then application - finance, rate, ownership, then set up the consolidation rules, then methods, then automatic adjustment detail etc.)
Also it will be helpful if someone can actually describe the required properties in each dimension to perform consolidation?
(e.g. Account needs to have ElimAcc for Eliminations etc.)

                 For consolidation if your working in BPCNW version,here are the requirements.
                  In general you have 3 applications...
                      1.Consolidation-For doing all the consolidation part
                      2.Rate----
For doing all the currency conversions and Elimainations
                      3.Ownership
                Here are the required dimensions dimensions....
                  C_Acct (A)
                  C_Category (C)
                  C_Datasrc (D)
                  Flow (S)
                  Group (R)
                  Entity (E)
                  Intco (I)
                 Time (T)
                 R_Acct (A)
                 InputCurrency(R)
                 Groups(R)

these are the basic requirements for legal Consolidation.
The sequance of steps are 1.Load the master data(Dimensions)
                                       2.create the Applications.
                                       3.Load the Appset and Application Parameters.
                                       4.Customizing the Logic(We have the existing logic in BPC-BI use that Logic).
                                       5.Reports are based on your need.
If your an Finance background you should have known the steps to process the logic i.e sequence of steps.....if not reply me i will let you know..

SAP BPC - Intercompany reconciliation - IC accounts - Input from user?

Dear All,
When doing consolidation(of investments), we need to reconcile IC transactions prior to consolidation process. I believe, there are specific accounts which are specific to IC transactions. These IC related accounts must be identified and used in the business rules during reconciliation process.
My question is:
During requirements gathering, even if I(SAP BPC Consultant) know those IC specific accounts on seeing the chart of accounts, this info./data MUST come from the users as these accounts may vary from company to company. When it is a legal consolidation, it is safer that these inputs are coming from the user and not from the SAP BPC Consultant. This is my understanding.
Is my above understanding is correct? IC related accounts must be an input from users and not expected from SAP CONS. specialist?

Thanks for your information, I was read the documentation that you gave me the link before.
The points of My application design likes:
1. I have 2 application (Finance, Capex)
2. The Finance Application have 12 dimensions
(The amount of type: 1 subtable, 1 Account, 4 UserDefined, 1 Category, 1 DataSrc, 1 Entity, 1 Intercompany, 1 currency, 1 Time)
3. The Capex Application have 9 dimensions
(The amount of type: 3 Userdefined, 1 Account, 1 category, 1 Datasrc, 1 entity, 1 currency, 1 Time)
4. I create the script logic very simple and use MDX logic for finance application And for Capex Application just default SAP BPC
5. The database file size is 739 MB (.mdf) and the database log file size is 3.31 GB (.ldf)
The points of my network or server:
1. I am using 3 server( 1 server for development, 1 server for databases, 1 server for SAP BPC)
2. The development server use single-server architecture.
3. The SAP BPC server use multi-server architecture.
4. When I try to retrieve or send data on the development server, it's run good ( not to slowly). But If I was tried to retrieve or send data on the SAP BPC server,it's run to slowly. I try to input data with same the amount of data on development and SAP BPC server.
Joost could you give me the suggestion to tuning performance ? And I have 1 question about OLAP partitioning, how to setting that on MS SQL Server 2005 ?

SAP BPC MS 7.5 with Extended Analytic Analyzer and EPM connector

I need your inputs regarding Extended Analytic Analyzer add ins.
I installed the SAP Business Object Extended Analytic Analyzer hoping to integrate the Xcelsius in SAP BPC MS 7.5
I am following the HTG to integrate but got lost.
In EPM connector steps, I cannot find the option from OPERATION TYPE: Retrieve data using Analyzer Report.
The only options available under operation type are
EPM Report
Retrieve Environments
Retrieve Models
Retrieve Dimensions
Retrieve Dimension Members
Input Data
Retrieve Business Process Flows
Retrieve Context
Retrieve Members Property Values
RetrieveText From Library
It doesn't include the option Retrieve data using Analyzer Report.
Im wondering if there are different version of the epm connector? Was my EPM connector differs from the HTG?
And also in Excel under Extended Analytic Analyzer, the function =GETREPORTDEFINITION() is missing

It seems a very good oportunity to use FIM.
FIM was designed especially for exchange data betweeen different SAP product.
FIM will provide an easy way to do the conversion using wizards and also will assure you about data inetgrity and quality.
This will be the way forward but more details has to be define during the implementation.

Custom Process Types not working in SAP BPC 10.0

Hi Experts,
We have migrated from SAP BPC 7.5 NW to SAP BPC 10.0 NW.
We have three Custom Process Types created in BPC 7.5NW using the super class CL_UJD_SIMPLE_ACTOR as super class.
It has been made Obsolete and Final class in BPC 10.0NW and the Custom Process types are not running as expected.
Can you please suggest if there is any alternative for using the existing custom process types? Or do we have any alternative for creating custom process types?
*Note: We have tried replacing the superclass with CL_UJD_ACTOR instead of CL_UJD_SIMPLE_ACTOR but of no use.

Questions on Installing SAP BPC NW 7 SP2

Hi Friends,
My company is Installing SAP BPC NW 7 SP2 and I am heading the project starting from 1st June. I have downloaded the Installation guide and still have few questions
1) On which client we deploy BPC server component, I mean on 000 or any other.
2) Initially we are doing on Sandbox, so we are using only one system for both ABAP and NET servers and we are using 64bit machine. How do I run 1.1 Net framework on it, I have read installation guide it says configure to WOW6432 but dont know how to do it
3) When we download the ABAP server component what format will it be .SAR or .CAR or any other

Hello Bobby,
1. You will install the BPC server component with SAINT, which has to be executed in client 000, but BPC will actually run in the client you designate for BW.
2. The following article discusses configuring ASP.NET 1.1 to run in 32 bit mode on a 64 bit system [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894435]
3. The ABAP server component will be a SAR file.
