Financial Analytics Version

Folks,
I've been tasked with providing a document about the design & customization drivers of Oracle Financial Analytics..mostly, what are the best practices of how the source system should be(Oracle EBS R12), level of detail etc in order to gain full advantage of analytics.
Is the latest version of financial analytics Oracle BI 11g? or is it *7.9.6.2*?

Hi,
OBI 11g is a Platform. For the Financial Analytics you need to look at OBIA (Oracle Business Intelligence Applications). The latest in stable is 7.9.6.3. OBIA is hosted on OBI Platform.

I think it is best to ask this directly to a technical oracle consultant. I think they will say, you have to upgrade anyway...
But I think you can just try it and look how many mappings go wrong so you can see how much you have to customize.

DAC Execution plan for financial analytics keeps running (OBIA 7.9.4)

Hi Gurus,
I have problem when tried to run full load on financial analytics execution plan. I used OBIA 7.9.4, Informatica 8.6.1 and DAC 10.1.3.4.1.patch.20100901.0520. This runs on Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 with 6 GB of memory. I set $$INITIAL_EXTRACT_DATE='01/01/2011' so it should pull data greater than $$INITIAL_EXTRACT_DATE, which I believed not more than 3 years data and should be not more than 2 days for loading this data. But execution plan keeps running and not yet completed even after more than 2 days. I have already checked for DAC execution plan log, But nothing I can found from the log.

After certain tasks I found Informatica workflow did not run. In my case after 190 of 403 tasks but sometime 183 of 403 tasks so it is intermittent.

Financial Analytics 7.9.6 installation

I am not sure that this is the correct forum to post this threat.
I want to install Financial Analytics tool 7.9.6 version . I am following the DOC. "System Requirements and Supported Platforms for Oracle® Business Intelligence Applications Version 7.9.6, Rev. N December 2011
Part Number: E14221-15"
For resource utilisation and load distrubution I want to install this tool on two server (by dividing few component on one server and other on second server). But i am not sure which component can be installed on first server and which one on another.
kindly help me to take decission.
also let me know which operating system will be better (windows/linux)

You can use either Windows of Linux. However, the DAC and INFA server must go on the same machine. Also, for installation, you need to run the installer on Windows and then move files to Linux. I would recommend just putting DAC and INFA server together and the client tools on Windows. Also, for the DW DB..I would allocate a separate dedicated server especially if you expect a heavy DB work load.

first identify your source system like Oracle ERP or people soft or siebel and its version. then find the suitable container in DAC like Oracle R12 or Oracle R12.1.1 etc. with in that you would be able to find suitable subject areas. Also you would be able to find suitable execution plan. find them. before you run the executable plan, read the BI apps config guide and configure all lookup files properly.

Anyone configured Financial Analytics (7.9.5) with PS Financials?

Any additional documentation regarding how to configure Financial Analytics module with PS Financials 8.9 will be much appreciated.

My question where is the document that show the integration between OFSA and OBIE Oracle Financial profitability Analytics
in the old version the document say that there is a PLSQL package to make the integration with OFSA to build the data-mart tables and to get the data from OFSA tables to the data-mart tables

Use cube: 0FIGL_C01 with 0GL_ACCOUNT. Load the text and attributes for 0GL_ACCOUNT and the hierarchy based on FSVs in R/3.Build your Balance Sheets and Income Statemments in this.
If your FSV has balance dependancies: say if the accounts in the FSV move from one node to another depending on their balance at run time, then you will have to use the virtual cube (0FIGL_VC1) along with info-object 0GLACCEXT. However from my experience with VC1, there are a lot of restrictions and inconsistencies that you will have to contend with while working with this cube.

Question
I have completed the BAW ETL load from my EBS 11.5.10 source system and am trying to reconcile the data in the warehouse with the EBS data to ensure it has loaded successfully. I have started by running Parameterised General Ledger -> Trial Balance OOTB Dashboard reports in BI against similar parametrised Trial Balance Summary reports in EBS, and they have successfully reconciled in my local currency (AUD). However, I need to add the "Local" currency columns to the OOTB request when I run a report against a foreign currency (GBP).
This is all easily done but it is time consuming. Can anyone out there share with us all their techniques for reconciling data volumes and values, specifically for EBS 11.5.10 data source?

We were trying to adjust the # of prune days for an incremental load, when we discovered the change was having no effect.
Our situation - JDE*
Looking at the parameters in DAC, we found that the incremental condition in the SDEs is:
date >= *$$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE*
In DAC, this parameter expands to:
TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(TO_DATE('@DAC_$$TGT_REFRESH_DATE'), 'DDD'))+(TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(TO_DATE('@DAC_$$TGT_REFRESH_DATE'), 'YYYY')) -1900) * 1000
If one keeps digging,
+$$TGT_REFRESH_DATE = @DAC_TARGET_REFRESH_TIMESTAMP in custom format, MM/DD/YYYY+
Compared to EBS*
Now, if I look at the *$$LAST_EXTRACT_DATE* parameter (used in EBS SDEs)
It expands to:
+@DAC_SOURCE_PRUNE_REFRESH_TIMESTAMP in custom format, MM/DD/YYYY+
Conclusion and question*
Obviously the Julian date conversion is required in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE, but apparently the prune days are being considered in $$LAST_EXTRACT_DATE and not in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE.
An obvious fix is to use @DAC_SOURCE_PRUNE_REFRESH_TIMESTAMP in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE, but I don't know if that would have any side effects. I'll test it.
I'll raise a SR with Oracle, but wanted to check if you guys had seen this before.

Financial Analytics Reports in Local Currency

Advise needed to help in configuring BI Apps such that the Financial Analytics reports (GL, Payables, Profitability & Receivables) show the transaction values in local currency i.e. INR instead of the default global currency USD.
I have changed the source parameter values in the DAC Container Setup while loading the data from an EBS R12 instance. The following source parameters values have been changed to INR from USD -
$$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE (for the document currency)
$$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE (for the local currency)
$$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE (for the global currency)
However, the Finacial Analytics Reports do not show any transactional values for the selected Ledger (having INR as the global currency). The data is populated in the Local Closing Amount, Local Opening Amount etc columns of the Fact - GL Balance but no data is populated in the Closing Amount (Global), Opening Amount(Global) etc columns.
Please advise to resolve the above mentioned localization issue in Financial Analytics.

Financial Analytics - limiting load to specific set of books

we are running POC for Financial Analytics BI Apps 7.9.6 and we are limiting load into OBAW tables to specific set of books from source EBS (using SET_OF_BOOKS_ID_LIST and $$FILTER_BY_SET_OF_BOOKS_ID DAC parameters) - I was a litlle bit digging in Informatica mappings definition and suprisingly found, that those parameters are just used for load of some fact tables (e.g. W_GL_BALANCE_F etc... ), but is not used to load corresponding dimension tables - like W_LEDGER_D or W_GL_ACCOUNT_D or W_GL_GROUP_ACCOUNT_D - which I would expect to be filtered by specified set of books as well - does anybody know, what tables are filtered by those parameters and what is the reason for not restricting all corresponding tables ?

Hi Michal,
I think you're saying that you noticed that the mappings/mapplets that load some of the tables (W_GL_ACCOUNT_D or W_GL_BALANCE_F, etc) are not using any logic to filter by your "set of books id list."
Have you checked the mappings that load the staging and temp tables?
For example: W_GL_BALANCE_F_TMP, W_GL_BALANCE_FS
The reason you're not seeing the "set of books id list" might be that the logic was applied to one of the staging or temp tables (a source for the _f table). Thus it would be redundant to re-apply this logic.
For example:
Notice that SIL_GLBalanceFact uses W_GL_BALANCE_FS as a source table (and loads the W_GL_BALANCE_F table).
But, SDE_ORA_GLBalanceFact is the mapping that loads the W_GL_BALANCE_FS table. The logic for "set of books id list" is included in this mapping (or actually, mapplet).

Regarding Financial Analytics Full Load in DAC

Hi All,
Today i have started full Load for financial analytics for subject areas : "Revenue, Receivables, Paybles, General Ledger, Cost of goods Sold". The issue is "SDE_ORA_GLBlanceFact_Full", "SDE_ORA_GLJournals_Full" these two tasks failed due Database driven error(Unable to execute the query in Sourcequalifier). Because of these two tasks remaining tasks are gone into "Stopped" status in DAC. Out of 400 tasks only 56 tasks successful, 342 in stopped status, 2 failure. Can anyone please tell me how to resolve the error and start the remaining tasks. Please guide me if am i miss any steps while configuration.

EC-CS Cons Chart of Accounts & Financial Statment Version

Hi Experts,
I need your valid input on this issue. We have 6 company codes and wanted to have a consolidation P&L and BS. I have implemented EC-CS and have done all the all necessary configuration and the data is flowing to EC-CS without any problems. My concern here is whether i have done right in Cons chart of accounts or not. I have created one consolidated chart of accounts in FI which as 1:1 relationship with operational coa and also copied Financial statment version. But for some reason the FSV is not copied correctly to EC-CS in FS hierarchy for example under assets->current assets->cash i just get the group as cash but it doesnt bring all the FS items or GL accounts under it, where as FI i can see all the GL accounts under cash. My question here is how to copy the same FSV from FI to EC-CS as FS hierarchy.
Since I am using 1:1 relationship between consolidated coa and operation coa, what's the best way bring all the GL accounts in FI to EC-CS as FS item including the financial statment version. I went to CX16 and transfered automatically from FSV, it just brought in the higher level groups and not the lower level FS item.
Could somebody suggest me the better way of doing it or am i doing something wrong? Another question is how does the retained earnings work, does it work the same way as FI, transfering net income/loss from p&l to BS, since the data is transfered from FI on real time update?

Hi Dan,
Thanks again. I did figured it out and i was able to post the retaining earning account. Simultenously I was trying to post a reclassification and i am getting error message GK897 (Auto posting item 0000330000 contains wrong value (cons unit 000000000000003200). Basically in the reclassification rule, i specified the percentage rate in further settings and in trigger i had given the P&L retained earning account, source as RE account and destination as another FS item. The reason behind doing this to take certain percentage of RE account and to reclassify to another account. but im getting this error message, im not sure what i am missing here.
