Financial Reporting 11.1.1.3 Client print preview crashes

Hi,
I've installed a Financial Reporting 11.1.1.3 Client on a Windows XP SP2 client. When i try to launch print preview of a report from the studio, it crashes, and return to the report without printing. Any idea?

When I try to access to a report created form another PC that connects to HFM, it says "Error connectiong to server" and "Cannot connect to database "X": Access Denied". The native user is the same that created the report; on the same machine, I can succesfully access HFM applications from HFM client and Rule editor.

Reports output to a file and printer/previewer

It's been a while since I messed with reports, but I have been given the requirement to somehow save a copy of a generated report, so that it could be reprinted at some later date exactly as it was originally printed. My initial thought was to save a copy of the report in pdf format at the time it was printed. Uses a unique file name and record that in our app.
My questions are is that technically possible, ie save to unique (to that printing) named pdf file at the same time it is printed? Or would they have to run the report twice? Once for the printer and once for the pdf file?
Are there any better alternative methods?
We are currently using forms/reports 6i, soon to be moving to 10g. But the requirement for this feature is required before we move to 10g. This would be required to work on several different reports.

Financial Reports 9.3.1.3 Client

I am having problems connecting FR Client (9.3.1.3) with FR Server (9.3.0.1).
Is it possible to connect to the server with a newer version of the client.

I got the same error trying to use a 9.3.1 client with a 9.3.0 server. I went back to a 9.3.0 client and it went away. It looks like they do not work together.

Reports 6.0 (TABS missing in print/preview)

I have created a paragraph (with TABS) using Oracle System Editor.
When print using Reports, the TAB get replaced with a SPACE.
Any ideas of how to get the TAB spacing in Reports?

I realize that it has been awhile since you posted this, but I just ran across the same problem this week and have a solution for you. You need to use the replace( ) function in your select statement. [see example]
Example: <tab> is the actual "Tab" key
select replace( text_column, '<tab>','<6 spaces>' )
from db_table
This will replace all of the "physical" tabs that are stored in the database with "6 spaces".

CRVS2010 Beta / Print Preview crashing

In my app I'm using the CrystalReportviewer component to preview a report. I'm showing the report and also the treeview. I have one report which has about 50 pages. When I page up/own in the report using the keyboard crystal report sometimes crashes with the following error:
System.NullreferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.PageControl.OnMouseMove(MouseEventargs e)
Anyone seen this before? It's not a major problem but still anoying.

Hyperion Financial Reports Studio Client Question

Hi,
I have a colleague that is on 11.1.1.3.0.0238 Financial Reports Client. He can connect to the server just fine. However when I try, I get the ole 'You are not authorized to use this functionality. Contact your Admiinistrator'. However when I use my login/pw on his machine I connect just fine.
So I need to make sure my client is same version. Is there a file I can copy from his install directory to mine that will make them the same? I can't get the patches as I have no Support Identifier. Usually it's just replacing a few files?

11.1.1.3.0.0238 should be the unpatched version of Financial Reporting, if you log into workspacew and go to help > about > details you will see the version of financial reporting.
The server and client usually have to be the same version for it to work so unless you have patched your client you are probably on the same version, if you have patched it then you should be able to tell from Opatch
If you are not sure then it may be easier just to uninstall FR Studio and install the base version.
You could also open up or extract HReports.jar which is in the <HYPERION_HOME>\products\biplus\lib folder, go into the META-INF folder, view MANIFEST.MF and look for Implementation-Version:
There are lots of articles in Oracle Support around the error message you are getting, if you have no support identifier I am sure you will know somebody in your company that should have access.

Problem exporting a Financial Report to excel

Hello Everyone,
Of several users who have tested this functionality, I only have 1 user who is experiencing this problem, however we can't figure out what's wrong... Here is what is happening:
1. Run a financial report from the web-portal using HTML preview
2. Once the report is displayed in HTML, he goes to File | export | fully formated excel file (he also tried with the query ready report and had the same problem)
3. he is prompted to either save or open this xml file
4. he selects open, he gets an excel window and is prompted with the following: "Please select how you would like to open this file:" and the radio button options are: "as an xml list", "As a read-only workbook", "use the xml source task pane".
5. he selects "as an xml list" he then is prompted with the following: "The specified source does not refer to a schema. Excel will create a schema based on the xml source data."
6. he clicks on "ok" and the result is what looks like an excel pivot table except is says "error" in one of the cells and then an adjacent cell says: Logon Failed. User Name must not be empty.
No matter which combination of the options he chooses, he sees the same result.
In addition, I know it is not a problem with his ID b/c he can run the report AND export to excel just fine when he does it from my computer!
Has anyone seen this problem before? Is this maybe a setting that needs to be changed? etc...?
FYI - we are in the final stages of migrating to system 9 so our current configuration is as follows: Financial Reports / Workspace version 9.3.1 however his run time client on is version 7.1.2 and the essbase cube is version 9.3.1. I have several other people who have run the same report, against the same essbase cube, also using the ver 7 RTC and it works fine.
Any ideas???

I have similar issue and cannot find an answer.
My environment is 11.1.2.1 (upgrade from 11.1.1.3)
All applications working fine (planning, essbase, hfm).
I'm unable to change database connection to hfm (db change to essbase and Plannng works). Error says that I have wrong cluster/server configuration.
Question is how this configuration should lokks like. I already tested:
1. HFMProd - this is cluster name and Server1 as a server in HFMProd cluster
2. No cluster, just Server1
3. HFMProd and Server1 in plus Server1 separately
In all cases the same message.
When I open FR studio I'm able to see reports (from workspace also).
When I try to open report I have an error due to some links to the old server ip (I guess this is taken from connection info that I can not change)
What is more I can create new Planning report in studio, but can not open through workspace.
From Workspace I can manage reporting services so everything is visible correctly (or should be :) ).
Any idea?

Report Displays in Viewer but Web Print produces blank pages

I am using VS 2008 w CR 2008 SP2 in a web application deployed on Win2008.
I have set the report to display all pages so that the users can hit the print button on their browser (IE7). When the report is shown in the report viewer it looks perfect. When the print button on the browser is used blank pages with the url on top/bottom of each page print, but there is no report.
If I use the print preview and turn on the background layers, I can see that the report background is on two and half pages, which would be corect; but there is no report text or data.

If you page through the report in the viewer is all the data visible?
Have you handled the postback event so that the report is in session before you print?
Look at the samples in the Crystal Reports Visual Studio .NET [Samples|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/sdklibrary?rid=/library/uuid/d0bf8496-2a81-2b10-95ac-b1f48d5b63f5]. Go to the "ReportDocument_Object_Model_Tutorials" and look at the "RDObjMod_Session" sample.
There are also different methods for printing from the web. Printing from the Print control on the viewer downloads an ActiveX print control to the local system. The user needs to have Administrator rights for it to install and register. Print report to client printer from forms

Hi,
I need to print a report directly to a client printer.
There is a utility called ORARRP - Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility.
But the document I saw was from Oct 2001 - so is this still the only and best option ?
I'm using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT in forms to launch the report.
This works fine when the DESTYPE is FILE and DESNAME = PDF
The PDF-outputt is then successfully shown with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT
When changing DESTYPE to PRINTER and DESNAME to clients printername then report won't run. "Report filed with error message TERMINATED_WITH_ ERROR".
Is it possible to print directly to a client printer using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT ?
(Our client printers are not networkprinters)
Environment:
Forms [32 Bit] version 9.0.4.0.19
Report Builder 9.0.4.0.33

(Our client printers are not networkprinters)This means you cannot print from the server directly on the client printer with destype=printer, since the server cannot see the printer.
So, a manual print command by the user from the browser or the orarrp utility are your options.

Web Report Viewer error - Unable to load client print control.

Dear All,
We have a problem with Report Viewer print funtionality. Getting the error "Unable to load client print control." on click of Print button.
We tried all solutions posted in web - nothing resolves the issue.
The print works fine when we open the report via a browser. But the same is not working through our application. We have the application installed on the Report server itself and the user has Admin previleges.
Please find below the details
Report control: ReportViewerWebControl.axd
Version: 9.0.30729.4402
SQL server version: SQL Server 2008 R2, 10.50.2500.0 (running on Windows Server 2008 R2 - 64 bit)

In the control environment, users do not have permission to install any software. This SSRS has to be installed as administrator under “Install mode” in XenApp
server.
Yes, 32bit IE works for me but 64bit IE works too.
You just need to ensure which version of IE you’re using to install the SSRS. I’m not aware of using 32bit IE for SSRS installation in server but publish 64bit
IE to client. That’s my mistake.

Hyperion Financial Reporting-Print Service is not Starting-11.1.2.1

Hi,
We are using Hyperion 11.1.2.1 and when i look at my Hyperion Financial Reporting-Print service it shows me at stopping and when i right click to stop/start it the options are greyed out.
I have completely stopped all the hyperion services and started them again and now the HFR Print service is showing me as Starting.
Kindly help me what should i do to resolve this issue.

Financial Reporting Studio Client Installation Error

Hi,
today i tried to install Financial Reporting Studio on my own computer to access the data stored on a server landscape. After successfull installation, when I try to login I receive the following error message: You are not Authorized to use this Functionality. Please contact Administrator
Nevertheless, I am the admin so I need to contact myself. I tried a lot of things today and read a lot of threads, still no solution. I can run the Reporting Studio from any of my servers and use the URL http://webserver:19000 It works when run from any of the servers. But when I try it from the "outside" I always get the error above. I can access all other Hyperion Components from my computer, hence the environment is configured right to that extend.
Do you have any suggestions on this error?

I have the same issue with 11.1.1.3 and Windows 7 which we recently installed.. Initially, Financial Reporting would not launch but after we did the steps mentioned below, we the studio opens and we can access our Repository. However, we get a 'Failed to connect to Server...' for each of our HFM and Essbase reports. Any ideas?

We followed the below steps
manually copy the following folders and files from a working 32-bit Windows machine:
<HYPERION>\common\JRE (This is needed for Studio startup.)
<HYPERION>\common\ADM\9.5.0.0\Essbase (This is needed for data source connections.)
<HYPERION>\products\biplus\lib\fr_client.properties (This defines the FR Client Logging settings.)
<HYPERION>\products\biplus\lib\fr_global.properties (This is needed to define the default
RMI port (FR Studio will try to use 1099 otherwise) and the location of the fr_client.properties file (or else the FRClient.log file doesn't get created).)
Note that if the Java Runtime (<HYPERION>\common\JRE ) was missing after initial installation, it will be necessary to manually execute <HYPERION>\products\biplus\install\bin\HrRunAnt.cmd. This is a Windows batch file used to perform post-install configuration steps; it depends on the presence of the java Runtime.
