Financial Reporting "Access Denied" to HFM reports (11.1.1.3)

Hi,
I have installed Financial Reporting 11.1.1.3 Client on a PC running Windows Vista 32 bit SP1. When I try to access to a report created form another PC that connects to HFM, it says "Error connectiong to server" and "Cannot connect to database "X": Access Denied". The native user is the same that created the report; on the same machine, I can succesfully access HFM applications from HFM client and Rule editor.
Any idea?
Thanks

Hi,
I have similar issue and cannot find an answer.
My environment is 11.1.2.1 (upgrade from 11.1.1.3)
All applications working fine (planning, essbase, hfm).
I'm unable to change database connection to hfm (db change to essbase and Plannng works). Error says that I have wrong cluster/server configuration.
Question is how this configuration should lokks like. I already tested:
1. HFMProd - this is cluster name and Server1 as a server in HFMProd cluster
2. No cluster, just Server1
3. HFMProd and Server1 in plus Server1 separately
In all cases the same message.
When I open FR studio I'm able to see reports (from workspace also).
When I try to open report I have an error due to some links to the old server ip (I guess this is taken from connection info that I can not change)
What is more I can create new Planning report in studio, but can not open through workspace.
From Workspace I can manage reporting services so everything is visible correctly (or should be :) ).
Any idea?
regards
Karol

  • "Access denied" when opening report on RAS Server

    I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I've only been able to open a report using the rassdk protocol from the server where my java code is running.    This is fine, but I was hoping for efficiency sake that I could have reports reside on the RAS server itself.
    My ras server definitely has a Crystal report called EBTest.rpt in the c:\temp directory.  I run this code...
    ReportClientDocument rcd = new ReportClientDocument();
    rcd.setReportAppServer(ReportConstants.RAS_HOST);
    rcd.open("c:\\temp\\EBTest.rpt", OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
    rcd.close();
    According to the JavaDoc, this should work, but I get this error ...

    Now that I've got it working, I expected that the RAS-local approach would be much faster than the RAS-remote, but I didn't find that to be the case in a quick test that I did.  Is this what you'd expect?  Or is there a different part of the ReportClientDocument interaction that would be more efficient.
    From what I've seen, the ReportClientDocument construct and open() are one of the expensive aspects of the report rendering.
    Enclosed are the results from a test I did:
    --PERF--20 iteration test for 'Test local report initialization'
    --PERF--WARMED UP in 3359 ms
    --PERF--,Iterations          ,Total Time (mS)     ,Avg(ms)/Iteration   ,Transactions/sec
    --PERF--,20                  ,35515               ,1775.75             ,0.5631423
    --PERF--20 iteration test for 'Test remote report initialization'
    --PERF--WARMED UP in 1828 ms
    --PERF--,Iterations          ,Total Time (mS)     ,Avg(ms)/Iteration   ,Transactions/sec
    --PERF--,20                  ,37109               ,1855.45             ,0.5389528
    And here's the bulk of the code that generated those results...
    int numIterations = 20;
    PerformanceUtils.runPerformanceTest("Test local report initialization", numIterations, new Command(){
         public void execute() {
              try{
                   ReportClientDocument rcd = new ReportClientDocument();

                   rcd.close();
              }catch(Exception e){
                   throw new RuntimeException(e);

  • Editing Pre-built quick list report - access denied?

    I tried to edit a pre-build quick list report but I get an access denied error when trying to save it?
    Can someone confirm if this is by design?
    I just want to remove a column but I don't really want to have to create a copy of the report, then update the analysis that navigates to this report so it points to my new version. Also it will mean the Original version is still available via the reports tab which i would not want to avoid confusion.
    Cheers

    You cannot edit the Pre-Built reports, you have to open them and resave them to edit them.

  • Apache reports "access denied/HTTP 1.1"

    When browsing a certain website, I often get the message
    "access denied/HTTP 1.1" from the Apache Webserver. Sometimes the error message starts with this output, and the whole page fills with all kind of strange and unreadable special characters.
    This happens only on one website and just with Safari, but regularly. When I use Firefox, it works perfectly.
    I know the pages uses some heavy include() in their PHP scripts, which probably sometimes take too much data for Safari handling it?
    Any idea?

    Okay I have woked it down that I need to tag some properties or conf file but I need to know which file. I saw somthing about using <ApacheConfig path="<MOD_JK_Home>"> but where would I set this tag.

  • HFM reports giving "Access Denied" error

    Hi All,
    I am in a really critical situation.
    I am getting "Access Denied" error on accessing any of HFM reports through web or FR studio...all planning reports are working fine...
    I think the DCOM settings have some problem...
    FR is not able to communicate with HFM cluster
    can anyone suggest resolution for this..
    please...thanks in advance

    Hi J,
    Follow the steps below for configuring HFM Cluster and Enabling DCOM and report back any errors or success.
    In the meantime I'll forward you on a troubleshooting guide and checklist.
    1.) Are HFM users still able to access HFM Applications?

    *Failed To Connect To HFM Application When Using Financial Reporting Studio : "Error connecting to database connection : Server/Cluster is incorrectly configured." [ID 1238573.1]* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Modified 30-DEC-2010 Type PROBLEM Status PUBLISHED
    Applies to:
    Hyperion BI+ - Financial Reporting
    Information in this document applies to any platform.
    Symptoms:
    In Financial Reporting Studio, users are trying to run reports that use a HFM datasource are getting an error.
    "Error connecting to database connection [name]: Server/Cluster is incorrectly configured. Please reconfigure your Cluster or Server connection."
    Cause:
    Financial Reporting Studio is not able to locate the HFM cluster.
    Testing also determined that the HFM client could not connect to the HFM cluster.
    The HFM cluster was not correctly configured.
    Solution:
    Set up the HFM cluster on the FR Studio machine.
    1. Go to Start > All Programs > Hyperion >Financial Management >Server and Web Configuration
    2. Go to the Server/Cluster Registration tab.
    3. Enter the computer name of the HFM server used to get cluster information or the name of the single server if using a non-clustered environment. The HFM server needs to be referenced exactly as it is on the HFM server (hostname/IP/FQDN/clustername, as well as case-sensitivity for any letters).
    4. Apply and OK.
    5. Restart FR Studio.
    Important!:  Make sure that you Enable DCOM on the Server/Cluster Registration tab.
    Note:
    If HFM client is not on the FR Studio box, it will need to be installed prior to set up of the HFM cluster as listed above.

  • Granting Run Report permissions on a specific report only

    Guys,
    Is there a way to grant access to users only on a specific report so that users can run that report.
    For example, we want to give access to a user group on a report "All deployments for a specified package and program".
    Environment: SCCM 2012 R2
    Steps Performed:
    1. Created a security role called "Run specific reports"
    2. Selected permissions for this role are ONLY, "Run Report" under Packages node
    2. Added user group TB\XYZ in this role
    As a result:
    - User groups TB\XYZ were added in the security of all the reports in category "Software Distribution - Package and Program..."
    - Users run the report "All deployments for a specified package and program" but don't see any values in Package drop down list. If we supply report parameter (package ID) in the report URL, it still does not work and shows incorrect
    parameter value.
    - Users can see all other reports and folders in SSRS e.g. when they access
    http://servername/reports - this is not what we want.
    Requirements:
    1. What we want is to grant user group access only on one report "All deployments for a specified package and program" and all the related reports so that users can drill down further reports.
    2. User cannot read data using SCCM console
    3. User should not see/run other reports (we want to provide users direct report URL passing package/program ID as a paramter)
    -- S Ahmad

    How is granting read permission only to those object that you want them you have access to giving them too much permissions?
    The permission in CM12 R2 are far better (from a reporting stand point) than in CM12.
    Exactly which report are you trying to grant accces too and why?
    What is the business case for this?
    I just want to grant permissions on "All deployments for a specified package and program" report in such a way that users can further drill down to following three reports:
    -Status of a specified package and program deployment
    -All system resources for a specified package and program deployment in a specified state
    -Package and program deployment status messages for a specified client and deployment
    So total of 4 reports. In SCCM 2007, it was easy to give access in the properties of the reports only (asp based reporting). However in CM12 (or R2), reporting is based on SSRS and what I've found is that we have to grant rights on objects those are part
    of above reports e.g. packages, collections, workstations etc.
    Giving "Run Report" rights to users does not grant access on view the information related to packages, collection or workstatons so report shows as blank. Another problem with "Run Report" permission for "Packages" in Security role is that it grants "Run
    Report" access to all the reports in Software Distributions section.

    I'm using CR viewer 2.0.23 in a java standalone apllication.Actually whe i try to open a CR XI report with CR viewer 2.0.23 i get Access denied.
    It look like CR viewer does not fetch login information to database by the report.
    I found a work aroud but sometimes works and sometimes does not! I set for each table of my report db login and db password as follow:
    DatabaseController dc= rc.getDatabaseController();                Tables tables = dc.getDatabase().getTables();                for (int i = 0; i < tables.size(); i++) {                                 ITable table = tables.getTable(i);                    IConnectionInfo connectionInfo = table.getConnectionInfo();                                         String userName=table.getConnectionInfo().getUserName();                    String password=table.getConnectionInfo().getPassword();                                      connectionInfo.setUserName(userName);                    connectionInfo.setPassword(password);                                        connectionInfo.setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.SQL);                    table.setConnectionInfo(connectionInfo);                    dc.setTableLocation(table, tables.getTable(i));                                     }

  • Access Denied to report file on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise

    Hi,
    I have a deployment problem for which I am out of ideas. I have an ASP.NET web site deployed on a server running Windows Server 2003 R2, sp2.  It makes extensive use of Crystal Reports, including both displaying them and e-mailing them to specified recipients as PDF files. It all works great.
    Now I need to port the web site to a different server, running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, sp1. The reports display fine as long as I am not trying to convert it to PDF for e-mailng. When it gets to the following line in my code:
    MemoryStream memStream = (MemoryStream)rptDoc.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat);
    It reports the following error:
    Access denied.Error in File JobDetails {DC64A5D3-9DD7-4E4C-90F5-A08731409B29}.rpt:
    Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.
    I finally got it to work by granting Modify permission to Everyone for the c:\Windows\Temp folder. Obviously this is not a good practice.  Granting Full Control  to the IUSR_servername account did not solve the problem on Windows Server Enterprise, although it did the trick on R2.
    So the question is, which account needs which permission to the Temp folder to enable the PDF to get written?
    Thanks.
    Dan

    What ever account the app is running under will need read / write permissions on the temp folder. Your working server should be a good place to look to see how the premissions were set there. The same will apply to any other server(?).
