Financial Reporting bug

Hi,
I have a problem when I'm launching a Financial Report, the selection tool doenn't apply any access restriction. The security are ok because qhen I'm in a webform Planning the securities are ok.
When I launch the selection tool in Reports pop up:
First, in the selection window of Hyperion Financial Reporting, a common user has visibility on all the members of the dimension, despite the defined security.
Second, when the user want to access to a member of a dimension which can't have access, a wrong serie of number like "123456789..." appears until of a "#NoAccess" like in Smartview.
Have a idea ?
Thanks for help

FR security I'm pretty sure runs against Essbase for members not against Planning.
So the first test is to create an Adhoc report in Smartview that is similar to a member / member combo that you believe shouldn't be visible. Make sure that you aren't using a webform in Smartview and build it directly from Essbase connetion
If you get the proper restrictions in Smartview Essbase and it's not working in FR. Then this is a bug and you should log an SR
if you get the same access in Smartview, it could be that you haven't synch'd the Essbase security and you should try that and repeat the above step.
Note. Planning creates Essbase security that is read-only (thought this shouldn't impact FR as you can't write-back in FR)
about the reason you are seeing funny numbers instead of "no Access". That one seems really odd to be honest. Try running the report again and see if getting the same thing repeatadly (could be a ghost error). I might suggest re-cycling the servers as well to see if that get's rid of the problem. if not probably another SR (IMO).
Actually thinking about the No access. you can set what you want it to display in FR by user. Double check that they didn't go in there and type that number you were seeing (odd chance but a chance)

  • Adobe Reader 9 and Hyperion Planning Financial Reports - bug?

Our company is starting a rollout of Adobe Reader 9 (currently we are on Adobe Reader 8). For those users that have upgraded to Adobe Reader 9, when the select a report (via explore in workspace) and choose 'Preview as PDF'
the actions differ between Reader versions.
Version 8 - The report would preview within workspace
Version 9 - Reader application is launched and displays in preview mode
The users Reader 9 (edit / preferences) is set to 'Display PDF within browser'
Curious if others have come across this problem and what they did to resolve it. (I also have a SR with oracle)

    Never mind on this again...
The problem appears to be workstation related to one user only. After doing tests on 10 different users, no user had problems with Preview as PDF with Adobe Reader 9 and Planning 9.3.1 on IE 6

  • Warning message when exporting a Financial Report to Excel 2007

Excel 2007 users that attempt to export a fully formatted Financial Report into Excel 2007 get the following error message:
"The file you are trying to open, 'FileName.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
I am still researching the behavior that users get when they click through the message, but would ideally like for the message not to appear without updating the client machine registries. Has anybody else run across this?
    Excel 2007
    BI Plus version: 9.3.1.0.0.248

It looks like this is a known issue addressed in Bug 7359171 - EXPORT TO EXCEL 2007 CAUSES FILE FORMAT WARNING:
The current design does not allow you to open HTML content from a web site in Excel unless the extension of the URL is .HTM/.HTML/.MHT/.MHTML. So ASP pages that return HTML and set the MIME type to something like XLS to try to force the HTML to open in Excel instead of the web browser (as expected) will always get the security alert since the content does not match the MIME type. If you use an HTML MIME type, then the web browser will open the content instead of Excel. So there is no good workaround for this case because of the lack of a special MIME type for HTML/MHTML that is Excel specific. You can add your own MIME type if you control both the web server and the client desktops that need access to it but, otherwise the best option is to use a different file format or alert your users of the warning and tell them to select Yes to the dialog.
    Another Workaround :
    Client Configuration of Extension Hardening.
Client desktops can change the default behavior of the security check using a registry key. The following registry key can be set to alter the behavior ofthe Excel 2007 client in the following ways:
Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\SecurityValue: (DWORD)"ExtensionHardening" = [0 = Disable check; 1 = Enable check and prompt; 2 = Enable check, no prompt deny open]Default setting if value not present is 1 (enable and prompt).
The client can configure the site to disable the check by setting ExtensionHardening = 0. This will stop the prompt from appearing, but it will also disable any future checks for the file content validity. This does not (in itself) lower your security. The check is part of a defense-in-depth strategy to prevent malicious users from crafting files of a different type than its extension (or MIME type), which could then be used to trick users into opening a file of a type they did not expect. This warning is designed to let the user know of this potential threat and given them an option of canceling the open if they wish.

  • Financial Reporting (FR) using Substitution Variables with Quotes

    HI all,
I've created a substitution variable, &CurWk, for a Period Dimension member. The member name, Dec Wk2, has an embedded space, so I enclose the member name in quotes when assigning it to the substitution variable in EAS. However, when I try to use that substitution variable in Financial Reporting, it does not recognize the Substitution variable. I've closed down and re-opened the FR Studio. If I remove the quotes around the member name when assigning it to the Substitution Variable, then FR will recognize the substitution variable. However, I get an error in the calc scripts if I try to reference the substitution variable if this member name is not enclosed in quotes. In my mind, this seems to be a bug in FR since quotes can be optional when referencing any member name. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a work-around? I'm using EPM 11.1.1. Thanks for your help!
    Vince Kelly

    Hi Vince,
For the Calc scripts add & to the front of the sub var and surround the sub var with [ ], for example:
where sub vars are ReptQTR, ReptYR, ReptScenario:
    CASE
    When (Is(QTR.Currentmember,[&REPTQTR]) and (IS(FY.Currentmember,[&REPTYR]))) then
         CASE
         When ((ISUDA(L000.CurrentMember,"NC"))) then
              CASE
              WHEN (ISUDA(L000.CurrentMember,"Expense")) THEN
              (([&REPTPYR],[ACT]) - [&REPTSCENARIO])
              ELSE
              ([&REPTSCENARIO] - ([&REPTPYR],[ACT]))
              END
         END
    END

  • Financial Reporting 9.3.1 error with related content

    Hi All,
I need some help with the below issue please:
We are on 9.3.1. We have a financial reporting report which contains related content that opens up in a new window and pulls an Interactive Reporting bqy. The data in the related content report is fine however once the related content window is open we cannot open anything else in the repository and get the following error:
2108: The object requested: [Hyperion Financial Reporting/Finance Reports/1. Financial Management Reports/SUGLR053] does not exist in the repository.
We must log out and log back in in order to be able to open any reports in the repository.
The related content window seems to cause this error. If we open the same first report but dont drill down to related content then everything works fine.
    Has anyone come across this?

    Hello,
I have also experience this issue in two different 11.1.1.3 environments and as you have stated, clearing the cache/deleting cookies resolves this issue. I was just wondering where I could find more information on the bug that you specifiec (Oracle Bug ID: 6900417). I have not been able to find any information on the web or within oracle concerning this bug number. Could you please provide more detailed information so that I can understand the issue better? Also, do you know if there is a fix for this issue instead of just a work around? Thank you in advance for your help and information.

  • Hyperion Financial Reporting - #missing Suppression causing report not to generate 11.1.2.2

    Hi,
We recently went live with an implementation of 11.1.2.2 and have build large report suite in Financial reporting to accompany the release.  Over the weekend we patched up to 11.1.2.2.305.4195 however we have began to notice our FR reports are failing to generate and hang at a white screen for both HTML and PDF views.
After a little digging it looks that the issue is with any report that has suppress #missing on rows. If I take this suppression off the report will generate successfully.    This is not an acceptable solution for us as many of our reports will run into 100's/1000's of lines.
Has anyone else experienced this recently and if so, are there any other fixes to be suggested.  I'm assuming this is a bug introduced with 11.1.2.2.305
For reference we are also running the following versions.
Reporting and Analysis Framework - 11.1.2.2.000.998
Oracle® Hyperion Financial Reporting, Fusion Edition - 11.1.2.2.0.0387
    Graham

Hi, We have but awaiting a response.   Interestingly I've did some testing and suppression does work if I go via the advanced suppression option which although a inconvenient to rework the reports does give a solution.
Additionally I've noticed a couple of other issues with suppression across the application so looks to be more widespread.
    1) Webforms are no longer suppression #missing both in the application and also when downloaded to Excel.
    2) Intercompany reports no longer suppress when we set tolerance to say 10% etc.
Each in itself can be worked around but annoying non the less.

  • Financial Reports with Date measures are showing data one day less

    Hello,
I am running a financial report off of an ASO cube with type measures enabled. However, when i run the report in FR, that date data coming out is 1 day less...for eg 04/30/2012 comes out as 04/29/2012.
however, when i run the same ad-hoc report via smart view, it is fine and the date comes out as expected. this is happening only in FR.
Any help in this regard will be much appreciated.
    Thank you...

I'm not sure what version you are running, but this was determined to be a bug that was fixed in 11.1.2.
Although not pretty, you can add a similarly named dynamic member that will advance your date for you that you could use in FRS. You could use the DateRoll function: DateRoll ([Date Dimension], DP_DAY, 1 ). Just an idea.

  • Drill from Financial Report to SQL Spreadsheet not working

Has anyone had any experience with getting a Financial Report [or Web Analysis OLAP Report] to drill to a Web Analysis SQL Spreadsheet? The Financial Report uses the SQL Spreadsheet as related content. The SQL Spreadsheet does have the column mapping setup to match Essbase Dimensions to relevant relational columns. The financial report does link to the SQL Spreadsheet but the POV criteria does not pass as the where clause when the SQL Spreadsheet opens up. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Not sure if this is a bug or just an unlucky constellation...
I had the same (or similare) issue with a new installation of 4.1 (after removing 4.0)
Before you run these two scripts again
    apex_epg_config.sql (it will call apex_epg_config_core.sql)
    apxldimg.sql
open these two files and put the prefix of "APEX_040100." to all calls to wwv_flow_utilities
    apex_epg_config_core.sql
    apxldimg.sql
So that all these calls looks like APEX_040100.wwv_flow_utilities ....
Run the scripts as SYS again.
Also check if your public apex user is not locked and has a valid password.
Also check whether your XDB user is not locked (I had this problem, however no idea what could have caused it)

  • Hyperion Workspace Financial Reporting Export to Excel Query-Ready Missing

Hyperion Workspace Financial Reporting Export to Excel "Query-Ready" option is Missing in the dropdown when you go to File>Export>Excel
Only the "Fully Formatted" option is available.
From what I recall this option for a "query-ready" export should be available from the HTML preview?
Is there something in configuration that needs to be enabled or something that needs to be checked on to get this option?
    We are running 11.1.1.3
The Query-Ready option is available when exporting forms in Planning.
When opening Financial Reports in Smartview the option for "Query-Ready" is available.
For some reason this is not showing up in workspace, does it not exist in 11.1.1.3? Is this a bug?
    TIA

    Hi,
The option to export the financial report output in "Query-Ready" format is actually at the bottom right hand corner of the report page (look at the report footer) instead of File>Export>Excel.
    Hope this helps

  • Hyperion Financial Reporting - Export to Excel converting Data to Text

We are using Hyperion Financial Reporting 11.1.2.2 with Hyperion Workspace 11.1.2.2 reporting on an ASO Essbase cube version 11.1.2.2.
When we export a report to Excel any data values that are displayed in the report with a negative ('-', '()', etc.) sign come into Excel as a text value. The cell has the green flag and the single quote in it denoting this a text field. The format is listed as 'Custom'. Updating the format does not remove the single quote.
The same result is happening if we display the natural sign in the report or if we flip the sign in the report. This DOES NOT happen when choosing the export query ready, only when using the File -> Export -> Excel.
Does anyone know if there is a hot fix or service pack or configuration to resolve this? How about a work around?
I thought I remember this happening in 9.2 and being resolved in 9.3. We have recently upgraded from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.2 and the issue is happening again.
The users would like to export the formatted report to Excel and be able to interact with the data cells as numbers.

The issue is reported as a bug. Installing patch 14625370 (11.1.2.2.302) and/or 16088101 (11.1.2.2.303) should fix the problem.

  • Financial Reporting Reports Formatted Differently in PDF

    Hello all -
I am working in a 11.1.2.1 environment. When I view Financial Reporting Studio reports in HTML, they appear formatted as I expect them to. When I view the same reports in PDF, it seems to drop any bolding or italicizing I do on the headers or in text boxes. The behavior is the same regardless of if I create the report from scratch or work with an existing report. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Thanks,
    Sarah

In case anyone else is experiencing this issue - we were able to solve this issue by applying patch 11.1.2.1.104. A word to the wise though - while it fixed the font difference issue, the patch spawned an Oracle-recognized bug that causes report books to ignore any Book POV and use the User POV when it is run. Whichever bug you are more comfortable with, I suppose. :)

  • POV in Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio and Workspace

    Hi!
    I have the following problem.
I create a report in Hyperion FinReporting Studio, choose required members in POV. Save report.
Then I open it in Workspace and sometimes my chosen POV crushed: sometimes there are no chosen members, sometimes there is a free space.
How can I fix it? (It's not acceptable to choose POV as a prompt all time). Is it a bug?
    Thanks.
    Natallia

    Hi Natallia,
well first there are two type of POV in Hyperion financial reporting.
    1. User POV
    2. Grid POV
If you are never getting the USER POV in workspace then it may be that "Preview User Point of View" is off.
Just check it under FIle-->Preferences-->Financial Reporting in workspace.
If you want some default selection in your reports all the time, you should use Grid POV instead of USer POV.
    Thanks and Regrads,
    Rahul

  • Financial Reporting Studio - Chart 2nd Axis Title

I have a Financial Reporting Studio (9.3.1) report including a chart (combo) and have "checked" secondary axis and subsequently set a secondary axis title. Upon opening the report the secondary axis title does not show. The font color is black and the font angle is set to 0. Is this a bug or am I missing setting a property or something? If this is a bug is there a feasible workaround? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

This has turned out to be a rather obscure 'problem or feature'. Primary axis titles can include multiple words, single words or special characters and do not require single quotes around the title. Secondary axis title on the other hand require single quotes around the string whether it is a single word, multiple words or contains special characters. This is not contained in the Financial Reporting Studio documentation.

  • Financial Reporting Studio under Citrix-Can Save Report but not Revisions

    Hyperion BI+ 9.2.0.2
Financial Reporting Studio does not run on desktop using Windows Vista so trying Citrix (Presentation Server 4.0 running under Windows 2003 SR2).
I can edit an existing report or create and save a new report but CANNOT resave any revision using the same reportname in same folder. I CAN save the revisoin under a different name in the same folder or under the same name but in a different folder.
When I try to save the revision to same reportname in the same location, it correctly indicates:
the Report "reportname" already exists. Do you want to overwrite the existing report?.
When you click YES, you get an error message:
    "Expecting a transferable end, but received -4352: 1570558, expected -4113, <-4098>, 6134 -4098"
some of the numbers listed change with additional attempts.
Anyone else with any similar experience.
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi
I can't remember exactly as it was a while ago but we had a similar issue at a client with version 9.2.0.2 with saving changes to existing report definitions and it was a bug with FR rather than an issue with how the client was hosted. We applied a patch but I can't remeber what exact version it was, try contacting Oracle or looking at the Read-mes for patch releases to see if it turns anything up.
    Hope this helps
    Stuart
