Financial Reporting Display in web nad pdf removing member

Hi,
I am facing a typical issue where my Financial reporting( 9.2.0.3) reportsa sometimes not dispalying the columns and rows in report.
This is a temporary problem and doesn't occure all the time.
For example idf I have Act and Plan in th e column, sometimes its supresses the act and sometimes plan, data being same all the time. We have supress zero, mising and error enforced on the row and columns. But we have data for those row and columns. so I think this is not the issue.
I gues the issue is due to connection problem with Report server and Essbas timeout. Any body faced this issue before.
This is very critical for us, will apreciate any kind of help on this.

Hello all,
The way I fixed my problem is that I changed my URL. Originally, my URL to start workspace was "http://myserver:45000/workspace/". This URL ran workspace, but I couldn't use any financial reporting features. However, when I changed to this URL, "http://myserver:19000/workspace/", I could now run reports. The 19000 port points to the HTTP Apache server which is needed to run reports. The solution may different if you are using IIS as your HTTP server.

After this configuration error, everything is ok in the worskpace except Financial Reporting elements.
After this configuration error, every configuration fails, I'm obliged to uninstall all the components of this server (Workspace Web and Financial Reporting).
This issue comes from the configuration of Financial Reporting in Workspace Web : Financial reporting is available from worskpaces of servers B and C.

maintain ports in xi system with naming convention <SAP(system id of R/3 )>EX: SAPSR3,and assign proper RFC destination to it...and in the same way do it in R/3 system

Financial reporting docs from web analysis

I need to open some Financial Reporting documents from within aweb analysis page. I put into this page a label, with something like this as text: <a style="visited:#660000"href="http://scilla:19000/workspace/browse/get/Reports/Rete%20Commerciale/stat_generale_produttore_vista1/">Produttoretotale</ The FR document is obviosly stat_generale_produttore_vista1; itopens regularly as HTML preview, but in the toolbar there is nobutton to have a PDF preview, nor I have the possibility to printit in PDF format; if I open it from the explorer, the whole PDFstuff is regularly there. How can I have PDF enabled also when passing through a web analysisdocument?

For creating a WebAnalysis database connection, please make sure you do the following :
1. Verify if you have Essbase client installed on the WebAnalysis server.
2. Check if the path of adm drivers are mentioned in the system environment variable -> PATH entries.
3. Try giving the Essbase server name instead of the cluster name when attempting to create a connection.
4. The error 1003 means it doesnt seem to create a connection with the server and while attempting it fails.
Make sure you have all the parameters mentioned correctly in the server details.
To get detailed information on what is causing the problem, make sure you stop the WebAnalysis service and start it from console .

Using Reports6i to Publish Reports On The Web As PDF Format - Arabic Data

Hi everybody.
I am using Reports6i to create some reports and publish them on the web as PDF format for security reason. The problem is that the opened document displays Arabic letters in encrypted way, I tried to use Acrobat Reader version 5 but it is still not working. Then I try to publish reports as HTML document, In this way, the arabic letters look fine but any vertical lines I designed in the reports did not show up, furthermore, the user can edit HTML document, change the data, then print the report, so using HTML as an output is not secure.
Any suggestions?

Defining default value for financial reports display in the workspace (9.3)

Hi
I need to change the default value for financial reports workspace preview mode, for every workspace user. It is actually set on html, and I would like to have pdf instead.
This option can be changed when logged on the workspace, in file->preferences->financial reporting->default preview mode. However I want every user to start with the right settings, so they dont have to change anything manually.
I have tried to do it with Shared Services : under projects, BI+, assign preferences. From there I can change the default folder and the start page (the general preferences), however I cannot find the options for financial reporting.
Is there a way to change these values with hyperion tools ?
If not, is it possible to change it directly in the repository DB ?Thanks and best regards

We looked at this about 2 years ago - from memory, you can only set preferences when the users are first setup in Shared Services, under the manage preferences section of the wizard.
I can't remember if there is a settings file you can edit for the default users - i think there is, but again this must be set before users are set up.
We looked at changing users preferences, but gave up on the idea as all users had been provisioned already :-(

Display report on the web in pdf format

I am attempting to display a report in pdf format where I have passed parameters to it and it doesn't work.
We are using Oracle Reports 6i.
If I use the following CGIcmd line
a: server=reports destype=cache desformat=HTML userid=test/test@db paramform=no %*
and the URL
http://sun9ias:7777/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?a+report=INVOICE+p_mainkey=1111+p_subkey=1111.tif.
This report is displayed in HTML format.
For the following test I only changed the format from HTML to pdf.
The CGIcmd line became
b: server=reports destype=cache desformat=pdf userid=test/test@db paramform=no %*
and the URL
http://sun9ias:7777/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?b+report=INVOICE+p_mainkey=1111+p_subkey=1111.tif.
In this instance there is no report but there is a 'broken image' icon displayed in the top left hand corner of the screen. There are no error messages.
This is the preferred method.
As a test I also tried allowing the parameterer form with both HTML and pdf reports.
The CGIcmd line was set to
ax: server=reports destype=cache desformat=HTML userid=test/test@db %* %P
and the URL
http://sun9ias:7777/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?ax+report=INVOICE+p_mainkey=1111+p_subkey=1111.tif.

Financial Reporting Studio - Subtotals at each change in Member

I am using "bottom of Hierarchy" to pull all potential members but would like to subtotal at each change in member. I've tried auto calculation but that only works for the total. I know I could also make each member a line item and have a subtotal that way but this opens up maintenance issues (If we add a new member to the outline will we remember to update the report?).
Has anyone be able to do this?

You can do a conditional suppress.
Do you still want to show
A, B and formula column? If so add another data column which is nothing but A
So you'll now have A, B, formula column, Data column which is equal to A
Add a conditional suppress on formula column to suppress the column when user selects Chicago.
Add a conditional suppression on the duplicate data column to suppress this when member name is not chicago

In a nut shell Hyperion Web Analysis is useful for reports having user drill downs. The end users will have the capability to drill down and select member from different Point of Views.
Financial Reports can be used for regulatory reporting and reports in standard format.
You can create reports in both Financial Reports and Web Analysis from Planning based on your requirement.

I'm using FR extensively now and used Web Analysis before. We use FR for Good formatted Reports, where as Web Analysis we use for adhoc Reporting Purpose. users can do slicing/dicing, Drill down/up in Web Analysis Reports, where as this feature is not available completely in FR
We use FR for Planning right ? What is the main advantage of using FR over Planning ? I belive with Web Analysis over Planning may cause performance issues

Problem exporting a Financial Report to excel

Hello Everyone,
Of several users who have tested this functionality, I only have 1 user who is experiencing this problem, however we can't figure out what's wrong... Here is what is happening:
1. Run a financial report from the web-portal using HTML preview
2. Once the report is displayed in HTML, he goes to File | export | fully formated excel file (he also tried with the query ready report and had the same problem)
3. he is prompted to either save or open this xml file
4. he selects open, he gets an excel window and is prompted with the following: "Please select how you would like to open this file:" and the radio button options are: "as an xml list", "As a read-only workbook", "use the xml source task pane".
5. he selects "as an xml list" he then is prompted with the following: "The specified source does not refer to a schema. Excel will create a schema based on the xml source data."
6. he clicks on "ok" and the result is what looks like an excel pivot table except is says "error" in one of the cells and then an adjacent cell says: Logon Failed. User Name must not be empty.
No matter which combination of the options he chooses, he sees the same result.
In addition, I know it is not a problem with his ID b/c he can run the report AND export to excel just fine when he does it from my computer!
Has anyone seen this problem before? Is this maybe a setting that needs to be changed? etc...?
FYI - we are in the final stages of migrating to system 9 so our current configuration is as follows: Financial Reports / Workspace version 9.3.1 however his run time client on is version 7.1.2 and the essbase cube is version 9.3.1. I have several other people who have run the same report, against the same essbase cube, also using the ver 7 RTC and it works fine.
Any ideas???

Financial Reports error message Java API can't connect to olap

Hi,
On version 11.1.1.3, after reapplication of 11.1.1.3 because of other problems with shared services, get the following message on the diagnostics for the financial reporting server.
Launch external checker with next command: E:\Hyperion\common\validation\9.5.0.0\launchEssbaseJavaAPI.bat EssbaseJAPIConnect admin ****** hypolap.msj.org http://hypapp2.msj.org:13080/aps/JAPI
Error: Result: -1; Error message: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1051293): Login fails due to invalid login credentials
Recommended Action: Make sure external checker is working.
Financial reports over the Web can not connect to the essbase server. Financial reports through the studio works fine. Any suggestions how to troubleshoot or resolve the issue with the login credentials for the Java API to essbase?

1) Does the user you specified in the connection have the role OLAP_USER
2) Does the user you specified in the connection have access to an OLAP schema (analytic workspace or CWM2 ROLAP schema)
3) Have you installed the correct JDBC files from your database instance into the BI Beans JDBC directory

Error with Preferences in Financial Reports on workspace

Hi,
I am unable to open Financial Reporting through workspace(File->Preferences->Financial Reports)
Here is the error in popup window
Handler:'com.hyperion.reporting.web.common.HRPrefrsHandler' not found for module with id: reporting HRPrefs
Here my Query is
1. does the issue resolved if we add ip and FR server name in Host file(windows)
or
2. it may be any issue with Firewall or Browser( i'm using IE8 with Hyperion Workspace v11.1.1.1)

This means that workspace cannot connect to financial reporting through your web server.
Check that Financial reporting web service is up.
Direct to the JVM
http://svr:8200/hr (svr is where your financial reporting web service is installed)
Through the web server:
http://ohssvr:19000/hr
If the first link does not work check the logs to your financial reporting web service (user_projects\domains search *.log for Financial Reporting)
If the second does not come up, maybe reconfigure your web server using the Oracle Config tool.
Also, make sure you are coming into workspace using port 19000 (through the web and not through the jvm port 45000)

Financial Reporting Studio - Suppress Shared Members During Entity Prompt

I am trying to create a Financial Reporting Studio report where the entity members that are displayed as a prompt only reflect the entities the user has access to with only one occurrence in the list. I have tried the following scenarios with no luck.
In Workspace, the Financial Reporting Preference, the Setup User POV option "Member Selection Displays" is set to "Only Members I Can Access" and not "All Members Regardless of Access".
The Financial Report is set up so that the user is prompted for the Entity so they can select multiple entities to run the report.
This works fine, except this is also displaying the shared members in the alternate hierarchies when responding to the Entity prompt.
As part of Defining the prompt, I have included the main entity structure in the "Choices List" in hopes that the shared members wouldn't display as an option to select, but this ends up displaying all of the entities in the hierarchy overriding what is the Financial Reporting Preference (acts like "All Members Regardless of Access"). I have also tried the Union of "Suppress shared members" and "Same level as" a level zero entity, but I'm still seeing all of the members of the main entity hierarchy, rather than a list of entities the user has access to.
Is there a way to display all of the entities only once that a user has access to during a prompt for a report? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!!

I don't think there's a native way to do this in HFR. How could it be done other than through creating a custom selection list? Okay, I guess that is one way but it hurts my brain to think about maintaining it unless it could maybe be done through IDESCENDANTS of 1 and 2.
Here are two other thoughts:
1) Write a report against the Planning (I could be wrong about you using Planning as you specify Essbase, but the question is in the Planning board) tables to get this information. I don't know how to do it, but I'm guessing with some SQL gyrations it should be possible.
2) Stick an attribute against hierarchies 1 & 2 and report on them that way. You the designer already know that they are related. More maintenance on the front end, but a surefire way to get the member list out.

Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.2.1 PDF not Configured for Web Server

I have installed EPM 11.1.2.1, and HFM, Planning, Essbase, Financial Reporting are all working fine except when I do a report preview in the Workspace an error is received that PDF has not been configured for this Web Server.
I have uninstalled PDF and Financial Reporting then re-installed them but I am still getting the same error. Also, I when I tried to view report from Workspace in Financial Reporting Studio, I received the following error:
error number 400 Error Description:Form already displayed; can't show modally. Function: ShowMsg. Module:GblMethods.
Your help would be gracefully appreciated.

Displaying report in .pdf format while Running oracle reports over the web

I am running a report over the web via IE. I am suing .pdf
format as the file type. The problem I am facing is that the
report comes out with a blank in acrobat reader if there are
just one or two records - i.e less thatn one pagefull. THe
reports displays output only when there ar more than one
pagefull of records.
Any explanation for this bezarre behavior and any suggestions?

in R12 I found 2 choice
1) when submitting requests (if available) you can set the output format by using the Options button (upon sompletion section):
layout --> format --> select format you need (RTF/HTML/EXCEL/PDF)
2) in the request form (view->request) selecr the report you want to reprint in the Tools menu select print/republish, in the html page that pop up select output format you want, number of copies =1 submit
