Financial Reporting Studio 9.3 - Member Parent

Hi, first time poster...
I have a report that is showing "Descendants of Current Point of View for Entity AND System-defined member list Lev0,Entity" in Row 1.
I'm trying to figure out how to get the parent of each of those lev 0 entities to show up in Column A, row 1,2,3.....
For example,
.....................................................Column A....................Column B
.........................................................................................Revenue
Row 1.....Lev0 membername 1....Parent of membername1....Data Value
Row 2.....Lev0 membername 2....Parent of membername2....Data Value
Row 3.....Lev0 membername 3....Parent of membername3....Data Value
I see that I can add a "Text Column" for "Column A" and add the cur Entity's Name, Alias, Property etc.., but not the parent or anything like that. Would this even be possible?

  • Expansions in Financial Reporting Studio

    I am writing a report in Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.1.2 that is connected to Planning. I have chosen to retrieve "Children of COGS_Dir_Exp" and checked the "Allow Expansion" check box. When I run the report I can expand some of the children down to level 0 but not all of the children. I have not been able to determine what is causing the inconsistency. There doesn't seem to be a pattern of being able to expand "x" number of levels. Some are shared parents, some are shared level 0 members.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be causing this?

    If a parent is a shared member, that shared member has no children and would not expand. For example:
    Hierarchy 1
    Parent 1
    Child 1
    Child 2
    Parent 2
    Child 1 (shared)
    Child 2 (shared)
    Child 3
    Hierarchy 2
    Parent 3
    Child 3 (shared)
    Child 4
    Parent 2 (shared)
    If your report uses children of Hierarchy 2, Parent 2 would not have children to which it could expand.

    Im new at Financial Reporting Studio so my question might be something very easy, for beginners.
    Im trying to create a report with two columns where in each column there is the year dimension. In the first column there is the current POV for year, but in the second column I would like to set the prevoius year of the POV automatically, without using a prompt. Is there any function or way to do it?

    Use the relative function.
    The first column will be set to use the User POV.
    For the second column... see the tab named "Functions". Select the function "RelativeMember". For the Member row - select User POV. For the offset enter -1... that will automatically select the prior year.

  • Month, QTD, YTD in prompts - Financial Reporting Studio

    Hi All,
    We developed a report (source: Essbase) using Financial Reporting Studio. We used a prompt for Period Dimension and used all the months in the choices list. We have a new requirement to pull QTD and YTD of the months to the prompt list.
    We have used QTD and YTD from the functions list but while running the report from workspace, it is showing in the user selection list as Month instead of QTD of month or YTD of month (QTD of Feb/YTD of Feb).
    Please suggest if someone worked on the similar case.

  • Financial Reporting Studio - Suppress Shared Members During Entity Prompt

    I am trying to create a Financial Reporting Studio report where the entity members that are displayed as a prompt only reflect the entities the user has access to with only one occurrence in the list. I have tried the following scenarios with no luck.
    In Workspace, the Financial Reporting Preference, the Setup User POV option "Member Selection Displays" is set to "Only Members I Can Access" and not "All Members Regardless of Access".
    The Financial Report is set up so that the user is prompted for the Entity so they can select multiple entities to run the report.
    This works fine, except this is also displaying the shared members in the alternate hierarchies when responding to the Entity prompt.
    As part of Defining the prompt, I have included the main entity structure in the "Choices List" in hopes that the shared members wouldn't display as an option to select, but this ends up displaying all of the entities in the hierarchy overriding what is the Financial Reporting Preference (acts like "All Members Regardless of Access"). I have also tried the Union of "Suppress shared members" and "Same level as" a level zero entity, but I'm still seeing all of the members of the main entity hierarchy, rather than a list of entities the user has access to.
    Is there a way to display all of the entities only once that a user has access to during a prompt for a report? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!!

    I don't think there's a native way to do this in HFR. How could it be done other than through creating a custom selection list? Okay, I guess that is one way but it hurts my brain to think about maintaining it unless it could maybe be done through IDESCENDANTS of 1 and 2.
    Here are two other thoughts:
    1) Write a report against the Planning (I could be wrong about you using Planning as you specify Essbase, but the question is in the Planning board) tables to get this information. I don't know how to do it, but I'm guessing with some SQL gyrations it should be possible.
    2) Stick an attribute against hierarchies 1 & 2 and report on them that way. You the designer already know that they are related. More maintenance on the front end, but a surefire way to get the member list out.

    We have multiple hierarchies in our entity dimension where the members are shared between hierarchies. Is there a way to create a report that shows the intersections of hierarchies. ie- hierarchy a has products 1, 2, 3,4. hierarchy b has products 1,2,5,6. I need a report that shows the intersection of the two hierarchies- products 1 and 2. this is using essbase in financial reporting studio.

  • Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio: question re expansion across grids

    Hello all,
    I have built a report in Financial Reporting Studio that consists of 3 grids: 1 for working version, 1 for reconciliation version x and 1 grid for the variance between the two.
    My row dimension is entity, which has been set to "allow expansions".
    I have been asked to set it up so that if the user expands a row in the first grid, the same row is automatically expanded in the second and third grid, showing the user the same members across grids (and therefore across versions).
    Is this possible and if so, how do I set this up?

    Yes it is possible to have same row selected in grid 1 displayed in multiple grids.
    Below steps will also retrive same data, add a formula row (or column also) say in Grid 2 having formula :-
    Grid1.row[1] ,where you want to dispaly same data of Grid 1, row 1 across Grid 2 in some particular row say row 1.
    Then modify the heading for row 1 (in Grid 2) by adding text functions to retrieve the member names of grid 1.
    Select the heading for row 1, on the Heading Row Properties sheet, select Custom Heading. In box, enter the MemberName function to retrieve the member name from row 1 of Grid1.
    The function syntax is
    *<<MemberName("Grid1", 1, "DimensionName")>>*
    If you want only member name then adding text function to desired location heading properties will work.

  • Financial Reporting Studio crashes after we upgraded frm 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1

    Recently we upgraded Financial reporting studio from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1.
    When we open FR studio and login to FR studio, FR studio crashes with error "Financial Reporting Studio has stopped working".
    Any pointers to the above issue is much appreciated.

    I'm very troubled with the way how Oracle sets up its website and naming. Sorry for venting a bit
    But it's absolutely frustrating when people stumble upon this section

    The first link you listed doesn't include Financial Reporting Studio. That's exactly my problem. Most clients I work with have Essbase, Planning, EPMA, and FRS. These are the 4 basic components of Hyperion system.

    Thanks.....I actually found that on Google. But unfortunately, I'm on 11.1.2.1. And Oracle's site doesn't have a section set up for 11.1.2.1 like they do for 11.1.2.2. And the problem I have actually goes back to using "Usage Tracking" and setting up through BI+ server that you suggested last time. Since you said that certain method can only be done that way on 11.1.2.1, so I was looking for that doc. Otherwise, I could've used 11.1.2.2 instead.

  • Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.2.1 PDF not Configured for Web Server

    I have installed EPM 11.1.2.1, and HFM, Planning, Essbase, Financial Reporting are all working fine except when I do a report preview in the Workspace an error is received that PDF has not been configured for this Web Server.
    I have uninstalled PDF and Financial Reporting then re-installed them but I am still getting the same error. Also, I when I tried to view report from Workspace in Financial Reporting Studio, I received the following error:
    error number 400 Error Description:Form already displayed; can't show modally. Function: ShowMsg. Module:GblMethods.
    Your help would be gracefully appreciated.

    You should review all installation guides, readmes, and the certification matrix before performing a Hyperion Installation and/or Upgrade.
    Version 9.0 of Ghostscript is not supported, install ghostscript 8.6.3 - 32-bit.
    From the 11.1.2.1 Certification Matrix: "Either: --Adobe Acrobat Distiller Server 8.0 or 6.0 --GPL Ghostscript 8.63; AFPL Ghostscript 8.54 or 8.51; or GNU Ghostscript 7.0.6"

    while logging in to Financial report studio i am getting this error
    Could not connect to server : Server name
    please make sure that the server is running as specified in the logon dialog(including port number if not default)
    can any 1 help me in this ??????

    for my response i will make the supposition you are trying to connect to an HFM data source to pull data for your reports, lets call it HFMCLUSTER.
    in order for your reports studio to gain connectivity to the HFMCLUSTER data source, you will need to first install the HFM Client on the same machine, along with the ADM driver for connectivity. After it is installed, register the HFMCLUSTER using the Server and Web Configuration Utility (the only tab that will be available will be the Server/Cluster Registration)
    You then enter the name of one of the servers, or the server, that is being used as the HFM server, the cluster name will then appear. Click the "Enable DCOM" button to the right, hit apply, and you're done.

    that my Variance problem was solved with the help of the last post, I created one Report in Financial Reporting Studio. But when I want to Web Preview for the report in Workspace I get the following message-
    *5200: Error executing query: Unable to obtain a connection to Hyperion Essbase. If this problem persists, please contact your administrator.com.hyperion.planning.olap.NoAvailableOlapConnectionsException*
    Then I thought of trying Print Preview which threw the same error.
    What needs to be done John?? I restarted all the services and Essabse as well. But nothing helped.
    Please advise.

    John. I am sorry to ask this, a different question. Actually I just faced a severe problem while trying that report issue. I give the details below-
    I created one group and assigned it only Dimension Editor and Application Creator roles. And further created one user and put it into that group.
    Next created one application(*TestApp*) in Workspace yesterday. Now as I faced the FR issue and according to you I created one application(*app*) in Workspace, this time with admin(as you told) and tried to create report and eventually failed which wrote in one but last post.
    Then according to your last reply I restarted the services and and entered the Workspace with the new user. But here comes the problem, I can't see my application that I had created under this user. All I could see is the application that I had created using admin(for trying the FR issue).
    I mean... I am very confused.... created one application with a new user, but it got replaced by an application that was created with admin, and with a different name.
    But I still can see the database in EAS and it is intact. And when right click on the TestApp and see the User/group access, I can see admin and that new user.
    John pls don't get angry... I know it's a different issue.
    Any kind of help would be appreciated.

  • Error message when logging into financial reporting studio 11.1.1.3

    I receive the following error message when I attempt to login in to financial reporting studio 11.1.1.3:
    "You are not authorized to use this functionality. Please contact your administrator."
    I'm attempting to login with the default "admin" user that appears to have been automatically provisioned with all user rights.
    I see the following error message in FRClient.log (on the client):
    09-14 13:48:40 ERROR ConfigResourceBundle     Could not find fr_configcache.properties file
    The server components (foundation, fr server, essbase) are on a linux machine and fr studio (along with the common foundation files) are installed on a windows machine.
    The fr_configcache.properties file does not exist on the client but it does on the server.

    I tried copying the file fr_configcache.properties to c:\hyperion\products\biplus\lib and this got rid of the error message that shows up in FRClient.log but I still receive the same authorization error message in the GUI.

  • Does Financial Reporting Studio need to be uninstalled before patching?

    Hi Guys,
    Moving forward on my patch plan, I am stuck again, this time with the ambiguity in the documentation. I am trying to apply the Financial Reporting Patch 13997553. While going through the documentation, I found two ambiguous statements. In step2, the doc says that I need to uninstall the FR studio (Doesnt say on which machine I need to uninstall). Later in step9, it says, on FR studio Machines, uninstall the FR studio.
    As per my assumption, in step2, I have to uninstall it from the Server and in Step9 I need to unistall it from my local machine. But the document never talked about re-installing the FR studio on server. What am I missing here?

    Here's part of readme which confused me -
    APPLYING THE PATCH_
    The section includes important information about applying this patch for Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting, Fusion Edition.
    To apply this patch:
    1. Shut down all services and servlet instances related to the Oracle Hyperion EPM Release 11.1.2.2.00 installation.
    2. Uninstall the Financial Reporting Studio by going to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and then uninstall Financial Reporting Studio.*
    3. On On the Financial Reporting server machines; Download and unzip the downloaded patch file, <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip, to the <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch directory (by default, Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1/OPatch).
    NOTE: <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip is the name that My Oracle Support assigns to this patch. When you download the file, a message indicates the file name.
    4. On On the Financial Reporting server machines, from a command line, change the directory to <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch.
    5. To apply the patch, enter the following command on one line:

    11. All users should now clear cached files from their browsers.

    I need to assign multiple database connections to a grid in Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio
    To do this, I performed the following steps:
    - Open a report.
    - In a grid, select one column for which I want to change the database connection.
    - In the Column Properties sheet, click the Select Database Connection button, .
    - In the Select a Database Connection dialog box, select a database connection from the Database Connection drop-down list, then Click OK.
    - In the Map Dimensions Between... dialog box, map dimensions between the default database connection and the selected database connection. I do this by selecting a dimension from the pull-down list in the right column for each dimension in the left column.
    - Optional: Select an alias table for the new database connection.
    - Click OK.
    But after last step I have received next error:
    *; nested exception is:*
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    Can someone explain the source of this error?
    And help me please solve this problem because I didn’t receive figures in that column where I changed database connection.

    I'm sure that both DB connections has the same dimension hierarchy. I can open the repot, but in it I don't see figures in that column where I've changed database connection...
