Financial statement with Functional Area

Dear Experts,
We recently implemented SAP in our company.
One problem we have is that our Financial statements are just on GL, our Management wants to see the Financial statement break up by departments (Cost centers) & Projects.
I beleive that this is possible through Functional areas concept, but I don't know completely on how to configure & maintain Functional areas in order to get the Financial statements with Functional area.
Please guide me a complete configuration step.

Thanks Alice, but I partially disagree with your input.
What is the benefit of maintaining Functional area in the Cost center master data then.
I have seen some slides of Financial statements with Functional are break up by Cost center categories.
Please give more idea on this.

    If you want to define a financial statement version with functional areas, these functions are limited. You cannot use the following functions:
            Balance-Dependent Display
    You cannot display functional areas dependent on the balance, that is, assign them to a different item dependent on the balance.
    ·        Debit/Credit Shift
    You cannot define items to which you have assigned functional areas as debit/credit shift items.
    ·        Check for Completeness
    You cannot use the check for completeness for financial statement versions with functional areas.
    You also have to carry out the following additional activities:
           1.      When you enter the general data, set the Functional area permitted indicator.
    You then have the option of assigning either accounts or functional areas to an item in your financial statement version.
           2.      Assign the required functional areas or functional area intervals to your P&L items

    Definition
    Account assignment characteristic that sorts operating expenses according to functions, for example:
    Production
    Administration
    Sales
    Research and development
    Use
    If you want to use cost of sales accounting, you have to use functional areas to sort your operating expenses.
    You define your functional areas in Customizing under Financial Accounting ® Financial Accounting Global Settings ® Company code® Cost of Sales Accounting ® Define Functional Area.
    Use
    You can enter the functional area in the master data of the following objects:
    G/L account
    Cost element
    Cost center
    Orders
    Order type
    Internal orders
    Sales order for make-to-order production and requirements class
    Maintenance, service, and QM order
    Production order, product cost controller, and cost object hierarchy
    WBS elements
    Project profile and project definition
    WBS element
    Networks
    Network type
    Network header
    Network activity
    During posting, the system derives the functional area from the master data of the assigned objects. For more information, see  Derivation of the Functional Area.
    Prerequisites
    In order to be able to enter the functional area in the master data of the specified objects, the Functional area field in master data has to be ready for input. For this to be the case, cost of sales accounting for your company codes must either be active for preparation or active.

    Entry of functional area
    You can enter the functional area provided that no postings exist for this object.
    Change functional area
    You can change a functional area that has already been entered as long as no postings exist.
    Where postings already exist, it is no longer possible to change the functional area.
    Postings that have already been made cannot be changed automatically. The functional area is derived only in the case of new postings.
    Where it is absolutely necessary to change the functional area for existing postings, you can find instructions on how to perform the change in Note 115840.

    I am Involved in GRC AC5.3 implementation Project. In this we need to work on complete Role-Redesign Process, which involves building of New Roles as per their requirement (Transaction used in past one Year). We find 3500 T-Codes, which are used by the client from past one year. We need to segregate the All the T-Codes into Functiona Area, Business Process, Sub-Process wise.
    *Is there any data source available on Complete information on SAP T-Codes with Functiona Area, Business Process, and Sub-Process wise details.

    As per my knowledge, Since the role design is more specific to any client there is no standard classification.
    However you can classify them taking leverage of sap provided rule set for RAR or Existing customized ruleset in your landscape, based on that you can start grouping the Tcodes  and start framing the roles.

  • Financial statement by business area

    hi,
    Has anyone encountered implementation of running balance sheet by business area and it only balances at company level but not at business area level?  What are the likely causes and rectifications?
    I noticed we cannot post a reclassifcation entry where we debit from BA1 and credit to BA2 as the balance sheet adjustment posting will balance it.

    Hi,
    The objective of business area is to get the financial statements for internal reporting purpose. So at the business area wise it has to balance the line items, other wise it cant be called as balance sheet.
    The objective of company code is repoting to the external authorities i.e in India as per the comapanies act 1956 all the registered companies must submit the financial statements. The company code level financial statement includes the transactions posted at the business area level also.
    For the internal reporting you can use either business area or profit center.

  • SQL statement with Function returns slow in Interactive Report

    I have an Interactive Report that returns well but when I add in a function call in the where clause that does nothing but return a hard coded string of primary keys and is compared to a table's primary key with a like operator the performance tanks. Here is the example:
    get_school2_section(Y.pk_id,M.pk_id,I.section,:P577_SECTION_SHUTTLE) LIKE '%:' || I.pk_id || ':%'
    I have the values hard coded in the return of the function. There are no cursors run in the function, there is no processing done in the function. It only declares a variable. Sets the variable, and returns that variable back to the SQL statement.
    I can hard code the where clause value to look like this:
    ':90D8D830A877CCFFE040010A347D1A50:8ED0BBFDEAACC629E040010A347D6471:9800B8FDBD22B761E040010A347D0D9A:' LIKE '%:' || I.pk_id || ':%'
    This returns fast. When I add in the function call which returns the same hard coded values, the page goes from returning in 1 to 2 seconds to 45 or more seconds.
    Why does adding a simple function call into the where clause cause such a deterioration in performance.

    So you are telling me that the where clause with a function call will NOT run the function on every row? Please explain that to me further?
    if you have code that is the following:
    select a,b,c from a_table where a > 2 and b < 3 and function_call(c) > 0You are telling me that Oracle will NOT call that function on EVERY row it tries to process in the select?

  • Insert statements using function are slow in 10.2.0.3

    I am migrating our data warehouse server to newer more powerful hardware, both server and disk are far superior. As part of the migration the oracle rdbms version is also changing from 10.1.0.3 to 10.2.0.3 on RHEL4.
    We have some jobs that run and populate some fact tables and when the insert runs on the new server it is at least 6 times slower that on the older hardware. The job that does the inserts uses some funtions to populate some fileds and seems to be the culprit quite possibly?
    I can insert many rows quickly in the same table space with all of the same storage parameters and this goes really fast but when we call the functions it really slows down to a crawl?
    Is is possible this could be a bug in the 10.2.0.3 rdbms version?

    The copy paste does not work in FF67. Only first column gets copied and then you have to copy paste column wise. This is limitation is SAP standard transaction and is not modifiable.
    LSMW will not help much as the records to be uploaded in the same statement and paage down can not be handled in LSMW.
    Your ABAPer need to record the transaction in SHDB and the can create a custom program to upload the excel using that recording. This is easy for programming point of view.

    I have created Financial Statement version with functional areau2019s and i have assigned all function areas in FSV. But when I run F.01, I am unable to get functional area wise report.
    Can anybody tell me, where I am missing..?.  Is there any other setting for get Functional area wise report?

        I am also confuse, as my requirement I need to prepare financial statement version as below example.
                            GL:Salary - 660000
                            Functional Area:200-Production/100-Marketing
                            All the posting will happen to GL 660000 with FA 100 & 200
    I need to prepare FI statement as follows
    Salary:
          - Production Salary
          - Marketing Salary
        OR
    Production Expense:
            -Salary
    Marketing Expense:
            -Salary
    So I created FI statement version using OB58 with functional area permitted but I cannot link functional area & GL to cater my requirement.I don't understand if we cannot cater this type of requirement why they introduce thin functional area feature? Appreciate some one can give me a better explanation.

  • Functional Areas in Financial Statement Version in 4.70

    I have configured functional areas, assigned them to GL accounts and cost centers. I created a new financial statement version that allows Functional Areas and assigned functional areas to the specific areas of the report (Sales, cost of sales, g&a, etc.) When I run this financial statement version, nothing shows up under functional areas even though there are postings to accounts with functional areas. All accounts show up under not assigned.
    I have found a note that references this for 5.0 and 6.0. Is there something out there for 4.7 or am I missing something in my configuration?

    Yes, i can try your option but this is not the solution;
    i have a requirement, where out of 6 sub items i have to do summation of only 4 sub items and later we may require to do summation of all the 6 sun items.., so i dont want to create seperate two items..,
    so, can we achieve the this?

  • Business Area Financial Statements

    Hi Friends.
    I am in ECC 5.00 Version.
    I am using Business area for specific purpose.  I have posted documents with business area and the same are appearing in fbl3n report.  But when I execute financial statements with T.Code F.01 by selecting the business area, I am not able to get the financial statements whereas if I don't give the business area, then the financial statements are coming.
    I have selected business area in OBY6, made business area field mandatory in the FSGs, entered the business area in the documents posted and selected the business area display authorization field in spro.
    Please explain how to resolve the issue.

    You have to run two adjustment programs before taking the financials thru f.0 business area wise.
    F.5D for balance sheet adjustment
    F.5E for P& L Adjustment
    after running this program without any errors, you run the F.01 , then select the business areas , you will get the Financials Business Area wise.

  • Financial statement by group account number

    Hi,
    I need a financial statement version list by the group account number. I thinking of creating a chart group of account and assign it in the operational chart of account. Then, I thinking of enter the group account number in the master account data ' field group account number' and finally create a statement version with the option flag 'group account number'. As I was reading this functionality is possible, but I want to confirm with someone. It is important to mention that I won't use consolidation, only I want to report a financial statement with the group chart of account.
    Does anyone use this functionality without consolidation and tranding partner?

    Yes, the steps you mentioned are correct.
    By this you will be able to report the same balance sheet in Group Chart of Account Financial Statement Version format. (It is not mandatory to do the consolidation.)

  • Financial Statement and Alternative Account Number (China)

    Hi all,
    I have created a nice financial statement based on "normal" GL account number, and through this I can have a nice formatted balance sheet and profit and loss account.
    For china, I need the financial statement with the alternative account number displayed.  For example: My normal GL Account is 181000, and alternative account number is 10010101 .
    During running the F.01 - Balance sheet, I check the options of "alternative account number" under the tab of special evaluations, but the output of the balance sheet and profit and loss does not give me a nice format.
    All of the accounts are displayed under section Account not assigned (This is because alternative account number is 10010101 is not assigned to the financial statement version).
    Could anyone advise how to overcome this problem?

    There is another issue of my Financial statement:
    The following is my scenario:
    I have Operational Chart Of Account, OCA1, and GL's are as followings:
    GL1000 linked with alternative GL account (GL9001 - Chart of account - ACA1)
    GL2000 linked with alternative GL account (GL9002 - Chart of account - ACA1)
    GL3000 linked with alternative GL account (GL9003 - Chart of account - ACA1)
    GL4000 No link to any alternative GL (because does not use or need this)
    My Financial statement version is FSV9, made up (must be, based on my testing) using GL Account (which are GL9001 and GL9002) and chart of account is ACA1.
    During the financial statement F.01, the GL4000 ends up with the following message at the bottom of the financial statement: <b>No alternative acct no.maintained for G/L acct 4000 in co.code ....</b>
    Note: GL4000 does not have any balances.
    Note: If GL4000 has balances, it is displayed under un-assigned section, and the value does not affect the profit and loss od the statement.
    Question: How can I solve the issue:
    1) Do not display the GL4000, which does not have alternative GL account.
