Financials 11i on Oracle 8.1.6/SOlaris2.6

As a development environment, we're installing Financials as a Single-Node Installation.
I have two basic questions:
1) I notice from the documentation that the technology stack requires 8.0.6 ORACLE_HOME. Does it mean I need to install 8.0.6 separately from 8.1.6 or does the application CD's contain the required components for 8.0.6.
2) Is it required to install all the three(3) environments - PROD, TEST, and VIS at the same time? If I install say VIS initially, do I need to go thro' the same difficult process of running the universal installer for creating the TEST environment?

If you are going to install 11i through Rapidinstall, the installer process will take you through the screens which will prompt you for oracle_home for 8.1.6, 8.0.6, webdb seperately. The Cds have all the oracle Home components needed.2) Is it required to install all the three(3) environments - PROD, TEST, and VIS at the same time? If I install say VIS initially, do I need to go thro' the same difficult process of running the universal installer for creating the TEST environment?
Depends on your requirement. If you want VIS environment and TEST environment, you can use the same rapidinstall to create both of them together. I created a PROD environment. After some teething troubles,It was smooth.

Arun,
Financials 11i was written using Forms 6.0 and Reports 6i. So, I would suggest using these versions for any customizations you might do for 11i. Forms 5.0 and Reports 3.0 were used for 10.7 and possibly some of 11.0.3 or before. Release 11i uses the 6i architecture in the forms and reports. Look in Oracle appsnet online site under Architecture if you need to go deeper.

Install EBS 11i using Oracle Database 11g

Dear All,
I'm going to create development environment for EBS 11i using database 11g. As i know, the rapidwiz install pack using Oracle 9i as the default database.
Could I install EBS 11i using database 11g? Is there any documentation for this kind of installation? Or Do i have to Install EBS 11i using the default database then migrate it to Oracle database 11g?

Clone Oracle Applications 11i using Oracle Application Manager

I am working on the following Metalink documents:

I am bit confused, if I am doing Cloning with OAM and providing all the information about the target system how does it work?
Is it that, cloning with OAM will make the required templates and I will have to just take the backup of my database and application and have to restore it on target machine and cloning is done!

Functionality supported in GL module of Oracle Financials 11i?

I need your help to find out if the following functionality is supported in GL module of Oracle Financials-
1) The system should provide the ability to have ledgers and sub-ledgers, parent-child-grandchild-great grandchild account relationships with a roll up facility
2) System should provide the ability to have off-balance sheet accounts
3) The system should provide the ability to modify the Chart of Accounts and still maintain the integrity of historical information
4) System should handle the provisioning

Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0)

Hi,
I am upgrading our Oracle EBS 11i database to Oracle 10g R2 as per note:362203.1.
In section After the Database Upgrade --> 5. Implement and run AutoConfig we need to refer to Note:165195.1.(Section 8: Migrating to AutoConfig on the Database Tier).
Since I dont have the DB enviornement file, I created one by copying the envioroment file from Oracle 9i Home and replaced 9.2.0 with 10.2.0. I also created Apache directory under Oracle 10g Home and copied perl directory from Oracle 9i Home/Apache to Oracle 10g Home/Apache. This way I got the DB enviornement file for Oracle 10g Home.
Then I used the following command to create the DB Context File:
perl adbldxml.pl tier=db appsuser=apps
Then executed autoconfig using:
adconfig.cmd contextfile=<Full path to the CONTEXT>
Is this the way I should do? Its working ok but I am not sure if my method is ok.
Plz suggest if some other method is there.

This is a way I used to do it too. I am not sure whether it is the official way, but it works nevertheless.
Do make sure you run autoconfig afterwards, which will create a new environment file for you. Then stop listener and database, source the new environment file and restart listener and database.
I found some other procedure in order for you to recreate the environment file:
1. On the application tier, Execute $AD_TOP/bin/admkappsutil.pl to generate appsutil.zip for the database tier.
2. Copy this appsutil.zip to the database tier and unzip it into the ORACLE_HOME
3. Set the following environment variables:
ORACLE_HOME =<10g ORACLE_HOME>
LD_LIBRARY_PATH = <10g ORACLE_HOME/lib, 10g ORACLE_HOME/ctx/lib>
ORACLE_SID = instance name running on this database node.
PATH= $PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin;
TNS_ADMIN = $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/<context_name> 4. Edit the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora file. Change the aliases for SID=<new RAC instance name>
5. Modify the listener.ora. Change the instance name and Oracle Home to match environment
6. Start the listener.
7. From the 10g ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin directory, create an instance-specific XML context file by executing the command:
adbldxml.pl tier=db appsuser=<APPSuser> appspasswd=<APPSpwd>8. De-register the current configuration using the command:
perl $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin/adgentns.pl appspass=apps contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE -removeserver9. Rename $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init<rac instance>.ora , to a new name (i.e. init<rac instance>.ora.old in order to allow AutoConfig to regenerate the file using the RAC specific parameters.
10. From the 10g ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin directory, execute AutoConfig on the database tier by running the adconfig.pl script.
Now you should have the officially created environment file.

Integration of Oracle Financials (OF) with Oracle Retail (OR)

Hi ,
We are currently doing a integration of Oracle Financials with Oracle Retail.
We have deployed BPEL processes for this. The Bpel process which transfers set of books from Oracle Financials is SendGLCCToRetek.
The problem is that the process is not transferring set of books id from Financials to Retail.
Any pointers on how what could be the reason. Is there any other BPEL process which should be deployed ?
Other deployed Bpel proceses are working as expected

The integration of set of books between Financials and Retail (through AIA) is not incorporated, it needs to be manually setup in Retail.
Ex: The Ledger ID's in EBS Financials or PSFT Financials, needs to be manually created as Set of Books in Retail (FIF_GL_SETUP table)

Solaris Cluster 3.2 with Oracle 11i R2 oracle agent installation question

I'm new in clustering and trying to build a two-node cluster in my lab. At the moment i've successfully installed cluster software and oracle on the nodes and now i'm trying to integrate cluster with oracle DB. Unfortunately, i couldn't find the documentation about this task. Can anyone give me an URL, where to look? By the way: i tried to find something here: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-7360/fxjbo?a=view but found info only about Oracle RAC and nothing else, but i'm trying to build cluster without RAC - just only with solaris cluster.

You might run into trouble with 11gR2 right now. You need to wait until the nxt patch for th eHA Oracle agent is avialble, or use 11gR1 at the moment.

11i Doubts - Oracle services ?

Again I have few doubts, few services (like
%db920_RDBMSHTTPServer,%_IASHTTPServer ) related to
Oracle are set to manual & when I try to start it
gives error msg, could you pls confirm that these
services should not be started as its set to manual
(pls confirm with your services list related to

Doubt 2:
My "Oracle Apache Server PROD" sometimes starts
without any disturbance, but sometimes it starts
during machine startup & suddenly it stops
automatically. When I try to start it, it gives an
error message stating there is an internal error &
contact system admin...
Then I removed the classpath environment variable
(which I set it as ./), after the machine restart the
Apache server was able to start. Pls advice on this
issue too, was it due to the classpath setting?

Doubt 3:
I installed the entire application on my C: drive (80
GB) Vison DB, when I opened the jserv.properties file
I found for few entries it has D:\... instead of C:\.
Then I changed it with "find/replace option" as C:\
Note: D:\ drive is empty & nothing is installed here.
Does it has any impact with the Apache service
startup?
Pls advice...
