    Hi @kitesquid,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g, does not save a scanned PDF file on Windows 8.1 64 bit. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
To verify the printer's hardware is functional, are you able to make copies from the scanner glass? Copying a Multipage Original.
In the meantime, please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know the results!
Hope to hear from you soon!

  • Find in a pdf file

How do I do a "find" in a pdf file?

Ctrl+F (on Windows).  Note that you can only search documents that contain actual text, not scanned images.

When I try to open an .ai/pdf file received through my email, it won't open and asks for a password. I have never set up any kind of password for email security, but have tried typing in my standard passwords. Nothing works. I wonder if it has anything to do with the use of my Wacom3 Tablet...I've been having trouble with it and was getting the same message when trying to open the User's Manual in my Applications/WacomTablet file on my hard drive. Any suggestions? I just downloaded the latest version for the Wacom and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (which I hate, and my CS3 hates, etc.)

It sounds like you have a a password-protected PDF. The password was set by the person who encoded it.

  • How can users who have Acrobat Reader only save scanned pdf files so that the text on them is searchable using ctrl-F?  I just use the recognize text with ocr feature in the full version of Acrobat and this seem to do the trick. Reader doesn't work!

Our users have scanned pdf files they want to be able to search using ctrl-f.  I got them to be searchable by doing a recognize text using ocr with Acrobat Professional vesion 8.  They want to know if they can make the files searchable with Acrobat Reader only or if they need the full Acrobat Professional software to make the files searchable.
    Thanks for the help!!

To clarify a bit they need to have Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader. Reader has not been associated with the Acrobat name for 3 or more versions. The process you are asking about is a creation process - the purpose of Acrobat - and NOT a reading feature.

  • How can i edit a scanned pdf file in adobe 9 pro ?

how can i edit a scanned pdf file in adobe acrobae 9 pro ?

With Clear Scan you get the text replacing the graphics of text. That can be edited. If you do searchable PDF conversion, you can still edit (I think). However it is an edit of the hidden layer of text behind the graphic and does not show on screen normally.
Usually the best choice is to ask the author for the original file to edit. If that is a copyright issue, then you should not be editing anyway.

You can use PDF Buddy, the online PDF editor that makes it easy to add text, images, and annotations on top of scanned PDF files.

If they are saved on your iPad, they are as safe as anything else.

  • Scanned pdf file-how to edit/translate

    Hi,
I am not very good at working with computers/but pretty good at messing them up...Anyhow, I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and I received a file that I need to translate into my own language (my own translation, no need of computer aid in translating), it is a scanned pdf file. How do I manage to put a cursor in a file like this? Do I need a "character recognition" something software or is it so easy that I can't figure it out?....Thanks for any help/advice you have regarding this,
    Anne

I registered for Adobe ExportPDF in February. Since then Adobe on my PC was upgraded, and now I am unable to view scanned PDF files. What can be done about this?
    Thanks

    Hi David
The update that was done in response to a prompt was done to 10.1.9. Something apparently went wrong, because when I uninstalled it and reinstalled 11.0.06 everything worked fine.
    Thanks

  • How to make a scanned PDF file searchable? I bought an Adobe service which I thought allowed me to do this

How to make a scanned PDF file searchable? I bought an Adobe service which I thought allowed me to do this, but I do not see any instructions how to do it.

    Hi,
When using Adobe ExportPDF online service, it will run OCR itself when converting any PDF to other file format.
It also depends upon the quality of the scanned document, so it might be possible that it does not make the file searchable.

  • Scanning pdf files to iphoto

I've been scanning pdf created files via fijitsu scan-snap into documents, then printing into iphoto to store documents into smart albums. When I tried to scan pdf files to iphoto, they are not recognized-I can only print pdf files. Any work around that's not more complex?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. iPhoto doesn't support pdf files, only image files. These might be of interest:
