Find audio from an unlinked clip?

Hi everyone!
Ok I'm here today to ask if you know how I can re-attach the audio to a clip I previously detached it from?
That audio part has not been appended to the storyline, only the video. The original clip is still in my events folder.
Is there an option to show the audio file associated with any clip I select in my storyline?

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

On iMovie how can you mute a section of the sound track so you can hear the audio from the video clip?

Hey,
If you double-click on the soundtrack you can open it up in the inspector tab and lower the soundtrack so that you can hear the audio from the video clip.

How to extract audio from a video clip

I am editting a video, and I need to extract the audio from a video clip. On the old iMovie it was really easy, all you had to do was press apple K I think. Thanks in advanced for your help.

Select the clip in the sequence.
Then command-L to unlink the clips.
Then select the audio and delete.
As a suggestion, two things:
1. Explain what you want to do. If it is delete the audio, then that is different than extracting the audio;
2. Do a search in the pdf manual in the help manual

Audio from a captured clip over still graphics

I capture the on-camera portion of my presentation and then place graphics and titles over the captured video. How can I allow the audio from the clip to continue when a graphic appears, other than using the non-transition effects? I recorded my boss tdoing a training session and now I would like to have the powerpoint slides change as necessary - but I want the audio to remain. I would love to just get the slides to change rather than back to full before bringing up the next slide. Jim, if you come up with anything, let me know. I have VC2 pro.

Patch in Audio from Similar Video Clip

I have video of our church's Christmas play, shot with a Panasonic TM700. The audio is with the video, from the camcorder. My problem is that in some of the dialog, one girl's lapel mic quit working, so every time she speaks its really hard to hear what she says.
I have similar video from a dress rehearsal where this person's mic was working fine. I'd like to be able to replace the bad audio from the actual performance with the good audio from the dress rehearsal, just for this one person. Can someone suggest a good workflow for that? Can it all be done in FCPX, or does the good audio need to be extracted from the video before bringing it in?

Never mind, I figured this out. I just imported the clips from the rehearsal to my event, right clicked and chose Open in Timeline, then copied and pasted the audio from there to my project. Pretty easy.

Taking audio from one video clip to another

In editing a short film, there are scenes where the director is talking in the background, while the action is going on. If I like the video of this particular take, but want to use sound from another take, what would be the best way of doing this? I could conceivably take the sound from the one clip and put it in with the desired video clip, but, I do not know if that is the most efficient way, especially when it comes to matching up everything - thanks!

This is one of the basics of editing Kristina. Just cut the video you want on V1 (video only), then put the audio you want on V2. This happens ALL the time. Director giving directions in the middle of shots. This is one of the reasons we get room tone after we are done shooting, before you wrap a set. Need to have something to cover the hole you make in cutting out the BANGS and dolly moves and director talking...stuff like that.

Trying to combine audio from a video clip with a photo

Is there a way to allow the audio of a video clip to continue, while the visual is changed? I'm trying to insert a photo to replace the last few seconds of a video as the song in the video finishes.

Not at the moment. Hopefully at some point they will add a feature to independently trim the audio and video to allow this type of edit, otherwise known as an L cut.

Removing original audio from a film clip!Please help

I am trying to export a film with visuals and sound synced - I have done this within Logic however when I export it (Options>Movie>Export Audio to Movie) I am not presented with an option that allows me to remove the original audio from the film.
I have tried a couple of things and when I play the finished video back it has the new synced music track that I have produced however the original sounds from the pre edited film are present upon playback!
Can someone please tell me how to get rid of these original sounds - It would be greatly appreciated : )

if you export, after making your settings, a new box will appear and will ask you, which original audio from the movie you like to keep on the new movie. Just deselect and go on. New video should be without old sounds.

How to extend audio from a video clip over an adjacent still image

I'm in iMovie 11. My project looks like this: video A, transition, still image B, transition, video C. I want the sound from video C to start playing while still image B is on the screen. I tried following the iMovie 11 help instructions for extending a video clip's audio. I click on video C and open the precision editor. From there I can grab video C and move it back so that it overlaps with the still image, but all that happens is the still image still shows up, without sound, and video clip C starts in the middle. The help instructions seem to indicate that I should be able to drag only the audio and make that overlap the still image, but it's not happening. Either the video and audio move together, or nothing moves.
When I try detatching video C from its audio, I just end up with a big mess because later the audio and video don't synch up.
What am I doing wrong?

FCPX: Detaching audio from imported event clip

I watched a video a while ago that showed me how to do this and now that I need to do it, I can't remember how! I imported an event into the timeline. The event is a live video clip with audio. How can I detach the soundtrack from the video? I want to keep the soundtrack but I want it detached.

How can I change the video but continue audio from the first clip?

I have a clip of a guy playing the guitar. I want to cut away and show clips of the audience..... so how do I separate the audio and video so that we still hear him playing as the video clip changes? I do hope it's easy!!! :-) Thank you for any help.

bnn is right. Also make double sure you have turned on the Advanced Tools under the iMovie Menu > Preferences. Choose the General Tab and click the checkbox beside Show Advanced Tools. This will enable that pop-up menu that includes Cutaways as an option.

Is there any way to edit audio within iMovie? What I mean is, importing an audio file but then editing and separating the audio file into smaller pieces. Is there a way to do this?

Edit the same as you would a video clip. Highlight the audio clip by clicking on it, then select the place you want to edit it with the playhead, go to EDIT and select Split Audio Clip at Playhead.

How do I re-capture just audio from already logged clips?

Got a bin full of clips ( I've already dumped the media) that the client just wants one channel of the 2 audio, (no video) re-captured.
Is there a way to modify and batch capture so no video is re-captured. Just audio?

select all the offline clips in the browser and then choose Modify > Clip Settings...
in that window you can turn on and off or otherwise modify the video and/or audio settings
if, when you chose the modify clip settings option, you get an error message saying "No items have files which are applicable to this operation" its because you have deleted the master clips media but not actually made the master clip "offline" ... you can easily fix this by first selecting all the offline media and choosing Modify > Make Offline... (Shift D)

How do I remove audio from an imported live clip?

I feel like an idiot having to ask this because I'm sure the answer is right in front of me.
I'm trying to make a music video that consists of some live footage over a previously recorded song. I'm also trying to match up the live footage with the sound clip but every time I put one of the live clips in, the live audio overwrites the audio clip I want to keep.
How do I remove the audio from the live clips so that this does not happen?

Unlink audio from video by deactivating the button in the right upper corner of the timeline (next to the snapping button). Then click on the audio part and delete it.
