Find in safari page

How can I find content on a Safari page on the iPad without "command-F"?

Just type in your search text in the box top right. As well as doing web searches it shows 'On This Page' at the bottom of the pop-up that appears as you start typing - touch that Find "..." text below the On This Page and you should then get the first 'find' highlighted and Next and Done buttons will apper at the bottom of the window

Everytime I open Safari on my MacBook Pro a pop-up window from my Finder menu, with the Applications highlighted on the left in the favorites column with the Resources folder highlighted comes up and locks my Safari page until I manually close the Resources window then I have to refresh the internet search address line at the top of Safari. Can someone tell me how to stop this. It started after a software upgrade. It didn’t do that before. Thank you.

A few thoughts for diagnosis/testing purposes:
Have you recently run the disk utility and repaired HD and permissions? If not do so.
Boot into the Safe mode - hold down shift key on boot - and see if the problems are still there. Some functions won't work but see if anything odd happens.
Check your startup items. Get rid of them temporarily.
Create a new user account and see if the problems occur with the new account.
Lastly, be sure your backup is up-to-date.

Just switched from safari on my imac. When using search menu in safari I had the option to "find on this page," which was an incredible help while doing research and looking for specific phrases/words. Is there any way to have this feature using firefox?

I think Safari has the same keyboard shortcut as Firefox "command+F" on a Mac or "Ctrl+F" on Windows.
Look in the lower left corner for the Find. There are more likely to be differences in Find Next and Find Previous in the keyboard shortcuts, but continuing at the Find bar at the bottom doesn't matter what browser you use. There is an "X" there to dismiss the Find bar. In Windows the "Esc" key will dismiss the bar if you are within the find text entry area.
    Keyboard shortcuts:
    * [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Keyboard%20shortcuts?s=keyboard&r=0&as=s Keyboard shortcuts | How to | Firefox Help], from Mozilla very limited number of shortcuts but will show correctly for your system
    * [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/keyboard.htm Firefox and other Browser Keyboard Shortcuts (Comparison Table)], more comprehensive but is oriented to Windows users with some guidelines for Mac and Linux users.

  • Safari doen't find the web page

    Hi!
Sometimes safari doesn't find the Internet page even if airport is connected but if i turn off and immediately turn on airport safari works! I have clan chace and restore safari yet but the problem isn't resolved!
    Thanks.

    HI,
Try restarting your Mac. If that doesn't help, try turning OFF Airport from the Status Menu Bar, wait a minute then turn it back ON.
If you have a cable modem with an Ethernet cable connected to a router or Airport BS or Airport Express, try resetting the modem by disconnecting it from it's power source for 20 seconds then reconnect it.
If that doesn't help, try changing the Airport channel.
Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X.
Select the device you’re setting up, and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.

  • Where to set up a notice message before we close a  safari page

    Hi Safari Experts,
Just a question. usually when we click the close button on safari pages. Its actually will automatically pop up a message to user to ensure that is that user really want to close the page.  May I know how can I enable this feature back. I loves this feature so much.
    I using Version 5.1 (7534.48.3)
I had lost this feature once I upgrade my OS into Lion.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,

I know the option to set it up is on the My Verizon App on my iPad, but I sure can not find the option on the MyVerizon site.

  • Mac - how do I assign safari pages to a space

I work on several projects in Google AdWords. I would like to assign each project to a specific space so that when I reboot (I like to shutdown every night) I will find my mac in roughly the same arrangement as the night before. I know how to assign apps to spaces , although I find this doesn't always work, so that is not purely the solution. When I work on a specific Google AdWords project, I might have several Safari pages open along with specific Word and Excel docs, and Adwords Editor. When I reboot in the am, I find that all Safari pages have opened the night before  are now in the space assigned to Safari and I have to go through the cumbersome time-consuming business or reassigning docs or Safari pages to a vacant space in order to better see and concentrate on just the project on which I want to work. There must be an App for That! Please help me find it.
    Thanks ahead,
    gerry

Wonder if there are any project management, window management apps that might address this issue. I think I've seen some but don't recall names.

  • Safari page is grayed out

New iPad, worked flawlessly from the start.  Now Safari page is grayed out, cannot move the displayed page, can enter web address in address bar but cannot select anyting on the page.  Ideas?  I have a feeling it's something simple.  Thanks!!

    Hi,
Tap Settings / Safari. Clear the History, Cookies, and Cache
Restart your iPad. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until you see the red slider then swipe the slider to the right to power off. Then hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see the Apple logo.
    Try Safari.
If you still have problems, post in the iPad forum here.

  • Every time I open a new safari page and scroll down it jumps back to the top of the page. mac book pro, newest version of OSX. Thanks all!

every time I open a new safari page and scroll down it jumps back to the top of the page. Happens super inconsistently and not on every web page. Tried all the dum dum moves like restarting computer and changing scroll direction in track pad. Anyone else have a similar issue? mac book pro, newest version of OSX. Thanks all!

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • Where is my safari ? I cant find my safari app.

Cant find my safari applocation . Easy as that. I think I got it like first few days of using iPad but...

Either it's been moved to another home page or inadvertently dropped in a folder - go to Settings -> General -> Reset and select "reset home screen layout" - or it's been disabled in the General -> Restrictions.
    Hope this helps.

i have updated to maverick but am getting constant safari page reloads, tab freezes, etc, any ideas, or any idea when apple aim to fix this please?

Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Returning to old Safari pages

I save an Internet Explorer web page to the desk top.
I log off and shut down the computer.
Later when I log onto the internet with Explorer I can easily find that web page again by double clicking its desktop icon.
Safari doesn’t let me do this. It can save a web page as an html desktop file but clicking its icon later gets me nowhere. The file name begins with
    file:///Users/.....
Safari doesn’t accept this as a URL and announces ‘it can’t find the server’.
Is there a way around this, other than bookmarking the page?

    Jack,
    According to Aaron Wyatt:
If you want to save a link to the page as a file, just drag the icon next to the URL in the location bar to the finder. A file with an "@" icon should be created and double clicking it will bring back to the original URL.
This sounds exactly like what you want to do. You say: "... It would be much easier to doubleclick that file in its folder and be immediately logged onto its update ..."
The way I interpret it is that you want basically an icon you can click on (just like any other file) that contains a URL to the page you want.
Or, you may want to save the page as it is at the time of viewing, to avoid seeing the updated version. Then you just click "Save As...". I did it with this page, and it saves all images and even the text I have typed in this field so far.
Are either of these correct? If not, your response seems a bit confusing.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Warning when closing Safari page with multiple open tabs

I have just upgradred to Mountain Lion, and Safari 6.0.  In Snow Leopard, and the version of Safari it used (I don't remember the version), there was a handy little warning dialog box which has now disappeared:
Previously, when I clicked the Close button on a Safari page with more than one tab open, I got a warning asking whether I really wanted to do that, and giving me the option to cancel or proceed.  Since I regularly clicked the Page Close button by mistake instead of the Tab Close button, this warning was a life-saver.
I no longer get this dialog in ML and Safari 6.0, and I cannot find a preference or option to get it back.  Does anybody know how to do it, or is it no longer possible?
    Thanks.

  • How to find my Safari bookmarks and passwords without opening safari?

    Hi!
I have a big big problem!
I had a system crash-thought I could recover via TimeMachine and oops there was an error and it turned out impossible. I had a clean install but my problem is that I really needed my old data- I can get it all from Time Machine as I can browse it just like as if I actually had the old system.
I copied the folder "default" from adium into the newly installed adium and there were all my contacts login details etc...
But I have no idea where to find my Safari bookmarks. I really need them. I also have trouble recalling some of my passwords which were remembered by Safari. Please tell me which files should I replace from the old system into the new system in order to retrieve my bookmarks. Thanks in advance for any help:)

    trelek2 wrote:
    That doesn't help.
why? Have you tried it? what happens?
    Where should I look?
    I need those bookmarks...
Copy the directory /Users/username/Library/Safari from the old disk to the corresponding location on the new one. The file with bookmarks is bookmarks.html from that directory.
However, I think Safari passwords are stored in the keychain. That would be in the directory
    /Users/username/Library/Keychains

  • How do I keep more than one safari page open at the same time?

New to Mac.  I'm used to being able to have several applications open at the same time, and able to check emails, eBay, camera for downloading photos, etc., but when trying this on Mac, I can't seem to figure out how to swing from email to something else....oh, it opens up eBay and other pages, but not where I left it...I have to keep starting from the beginning...name, password, etc.   I can't have 3, 4 or 5 safari pages open at the same time??  This is making my life cumbersome, and running back to the basement office and using my dying Dell desktop where life was a bit simpler.  Sometimes I need to copy a few paragraphs on one website into another....and its taking me way too long to get this done.  I know there's a way of doing this on Mac....

    Hi Suzkas,
I was new to mac a short time ago and I had frustrations in the learning curve especially as I was so used to working with PC.
If you look at the top left of the screen you will see the words SAFARI next to the apple logo. if not then either open safari or click on the window and the mac will then show safari at the top. If you now click on FILE you can select NEW WINDOW or NEW TAB as you wish. I often use new tab and switch between them. If you go to VIEW and select CUSTOMISE TOOLBAR you can drag an icon to the top of the safari window and you won't have to keep going to the menu to add a new tab. I will sometimes select new window to keep something separate from my other work.
If you close down a window you will often lose your place, but using the tab system you will leave the window active unless you select the cross to terminate. If you have a separate window open you can select the orange blob (between the red and green at the top) and the window will slide down to the dock and stay there, active, for you to return and continue.
Hope this help, stay with it, go see the instore staff and pretty soon you wont look back
PS I have PARALLELLS6 running with a copy of windows 7 on my mac. This means that I can switch to microsoft if I want to. However, with office for mac installed I rarely need to now, the only time I ever open windows is for an application that has no mac version.
