Find / List PDFs without OCR

Is there a utility or a batch process that will find and list all PDFs in a folder or set of folders that have not been OCR'd?  We're running Acrobat 9 in Windows XP.

With Acrobat 9 Pro you can create a Preflight that uses a Custom check to evaluate for "Invisible text objects" which finds text objects which use text rendering mode 3 (invisible text).
The OCR output of Searchable Image and Searchable Image (Exact) consists of text rendered in mode 3.
This is "invisible" because the glyphs for the characters are rendered with no fill and no stroke.

  • Finder Find lists everything without limitation: why?

I have had this experience of the finder's find feature all the years I have had Mac OSX (i.e. since it was invented).
I enter some text into the finder find box and it lists everything. I enter pdf and get excel files and all else besides. I enter Canon (looking for my camera manual) and it lists jpegs and all else besides.
("all else" means every other file type and name regardless of file name)
In both cases I can see no evidence of the search being limited to either items with canon or items with pdf as part of their file name.
I am aware I could use "kind" to find files of type.
The point here is that in my experience the finder find function does not use the text entered into the "find box" to search, it just lists everything (limited only by the location if set).
Clearly no one else is complaining about this, so what is it I might be doing wrong? Or has "find" never worked in this circumstance (which is my experience) and we just accept this is the way life is because we all use something else (such as spotlight, which I don't use)
I should mention that the list of folders DOES work as advertised for me, in a canon search, all folders have "canon" in their name, but all the subsections below just list all files within that subset regardless of "filename".
    Wise suggestions welcome please

Find searches not only the file names but what is in the file and the metadata also. That's why you get everything listed. If you just want to search for a file name, then use the criteria buttons and change "Kind" to "Name."

  • Convert ABAP list output to PDF without spool

    Hi All,
We have used the FM 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF' to convert the list output to PDF. It creates the spool number in SP01 and PDF is getting generated.
But, in our SAP ECC 6.0 server all spools are redirected to printer by default and get printed because it configured like that. We requested BASIS people to reconfigure but they said no for a single report.
So we need to find the alternate solution to generate the PDF without spool. We have searched in sdn, but didnot get any alternate solution.
Please help us in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.

  • I received an email containing a spreadsheet created using Mac Office 2004 on my new MacBook Air equipped with Mac Office 2011.  When I saved the document, my Finder lists the document without the .xls file extension. Why?

I received an email containing a spreadsheet created using Mac Office 2004 on my new MacBook Air equipped with Mac Office 2011.  When I saved the document, my Finder lists the document without the .xls file extension. Why?
All other .xls documents created by Mac Office 2004 retained the .xls file extention when I migrated them over to the new MacBook Air.

I know what happened.  When I saved the document I somehow hit the Hide File Extension box.  Sorry to trouble this group. I simply resaved it w/o activating the Hide File Extension feature.

  • Netweaver 2004 :  How to create an pdf without need to use Adobe Control ?

    Dear WebDynpro experts,
in my application I use Adobe interactive forms to create a pdf document for printing purposes.
I provide it as download using the file download GUI element.
There's no need to work with the pdf document afterwards, sionce it is only needed for printouts.
If I use my application with Firefox this works great. I can download my pdf without any problem.
But if I try to use Internet explorer and wand to download the pdf I always get the message that I have
to install Adobe Control into my Internet explorer.
Is it possible to configure my application the way that I don't need the adobe control on my Internet explorer ?
Is there a better way to provide non interactive pdf documents ?
    Best regards,
    Daniel

    Dear Ruturaj,
    thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately Í don't have an "display type" property for Interactive form.
I have beneath the Event and Event properties the following properties in my
property list for the Interactive Forms element :
    data source
    enabled
    height
    id
    mode
    pdfsource
    templatesource
    tooltip
    visible
    width
I also checked the Form Properties within the designer and didn't find a display type property.
I assume this is due to the fact I use an old version of Netweaver Developer Studio since I have
only Netweaver Developer Studio 2004 SP 20.
is there a way to switch off Active X using such a version ?
    Best regards,
    Daniel

  • How do I convert a file to PDF without subcribing or paying a fee?

My old computer (which had Visa) I could right click on most any file and I had three options to conver a file to PDF.... ( Convert to Adobe PDF, Convert to Adobe PDF and EMail, Combine supported file in Acorbat....) which was great!! Now that I have my new computer with Windows 7, I can't seem to find this program without subscribing or paying a fee? Does anyone know where I can find it and how I can get the options back when I right click on a file?

You previously had Adobe Acrobat installed, which is not free.
Adobe do not have any free products or services for making PDF.
You need to go back through the disks and licenses you got with your old computer. Though in some cases (e.g. some Dell computers) there is a bundled Acrobat which cannot be transferred.

  • Unable to find adobe pdf resources

I have creative cloud and have installed Acrobat PRO XI.  However, in word when I click Acrobat and click preferences I get an error unable to find adobe pdf resources.
It seemed to work before I installed XI. Any suggestions?

I'm using Word 2010 and the Acrobat information is one of the tabs on the top.
When I click on the file there is a save as Adobe PDF but this also gives the error. I can do a save as PDF and it will make a PDF, but it does not allow me to save images without compacting. That is why I need to access the preferences.

  • Is it possible to create and save a .PDF without any compression to the resulting .PDF?

I need an uncompressed file so I can use the resulting PDF to do a find/replace. Can't do it with compression.

    Dave,
Thanks for the reply. Of all the suggestions I've received this seemed to
be most promising. I gave it a try and the problem is that when I attempt
to save as optimized a message box pops up and says I have to save my
document first. Low and behold when I save it, compression occurs. Even
when I select the options you suggest I'm left with a compressed document.
    I'm using Acrobat Pro X

without any compression to the resulting .PDF?
You don't want the UncompressPDF plugin - that's designed to split out the
COS objects but doesn't remove the Flate encoding (plus if you've never
compiled a plugin before, it's not really the time to learn).
Instead, simply save your PDF file using the PDF (Optimized) file type,
click the Settings button and under "Clean Up" - "Object compression
options", choose "Remove compression". Turn everything else off if you
want to retain the PDF content exactly as it was before.
Your document-level scripts will then be in the file as plain text.

  • How do I locate non picture files and location? I'm getting low memory and can't find word,PDF etc

how do I locate non picture files and location? I'm getting low memory and can't find word,PDF etc

iPads don't have a filesystem like a computer, Files of that nature must be associated with an App and reside inside that particular App's file space.  So the way to find them is to open the App that opens that file type and look in its file or document list for them.

  • How to find generated PDF

Used Automator to combine pdf pages. Results showed it did so.
Cannot find file, even in finder, using pdf name given by Automator.
How does one find the file after it is generated? For example: /private/var/folders/zm/zmkkZVolEyXRmutYmttbk++TI/-Tmp-/hmJLsq.pdf
the file is evidently named hmJLsq.pdf, but I can't locate it with Finder.

If you saved the PDF to the folder you indicated, then you saved it to an invisible folder. Select Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu. In the field enter "/private/var/folders/zm/zmkkZVolEyXRmutYmttbk++TI/-Tmp-" without quotes, then press RETURN. This should take you to the folder where the PDF was saved. You can then copy or move the file to your Desktop or Documents folder. I recommend you copy the path and paste it into the Go to Folder entry field.

  • How to find list of Queries built on Multiprovider &steps to transport quer

    Dear Experts,
I got a task to Check if any queries are built on a multiprovider and to change the filter condition on 0INFOPROV to restrict some more  Infoproviders in all the queries built on multiprovider .
Request you to help me out how can i find list of queries created based on Multiprovider wise  and steps to be followed to restrict 0INFOPROV.
And one more doubt is, what are steps to be followed to transport the queries.
Thanks in advance for favorable assistance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramesh - Kumar.

    Hi..
    Follow the steps below:
    1) Goto RSA1 -> Metadata Repository -> Select Multiprovider -> Find (Cntrl+F) give your object name -> Double click on search result object, this will give you detailed view of used that particular Objects.
    2) To restrict infoprovider within that Multiprovider for Query reullts, Double click on Multiprovider -> choose Change mode -> You'll be able to select/deslect the check boxes under the Infoprovider Tabs (Infocube, DSO, Info Objct, Infosets, Aggr levels) there you can check the infoproviders as per your requirements then selelct the display options with Display All Infoproviders (1st option) at down then continue and save the settings.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks,
    Ramanan.

  • Can I reverse the order of finder lists or icons?

    Hello,
I am finding some problems with Lion that I never seemed to have with Snow Leopard and would very much appreciate someone's help.
To cut a long story short I want to reverse the order of the files in finder, either in list or icon view (or maybe any kind of view). At the moment they are in date created order, but I have also tried in name order and cannot see any way to reverse the order.
At present the are show the newest file first but I want to see them in oldest first as they always were for me in OSX 10.6
Also... in date created view they appear in groups (eg previous 7 days, previous 30 days) I have never seen this before and find it particulalry annoying. I'm sure some people love it but for me it is one of the things that I most hated about windows, but at least in Windows I found it easy to turn off (along with reversing order!). Can anyone tell me how to stop OSX from doing this?
    Much obliged,
    Pablo

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and don't speak for "Apple, Inc."
In Finder icon view, click the Arrange button and select which column you'd like to sort by.
In Finder list view, click the top header of any column to sort by that column. Clicking the same header again reverses the sort order (and the small 'arrow' at the end of the column name reverses direction too).
And using Finder, View, Customize Toolbar the Finder window toolbar can be customized to display icons only, text only or both, as well as adding additional icons to the default toolbar:

  • Column width in finder LIST view

I am using Yosemite.  This issue has been driving me mad for years and try as I may I cannot find the solution.
How do you set a default column width in Finder LIST view for all folders?  Whatever I do (for example VIEW OPTIONS, USE AS DEFAULTS) does not work.
Can anybody help? I would use third party plugins if I could find something that controls this.  Please note: I am using LIST view NOT column view.
    Many thanks

Like Jim, I also generally use Icon view for folders containing images, and have the View Option to show item info selected. Column view will also show image dimensions (both of these work, provided the folder has been indexed by Spotlight).
If you want to see the dimensions, but also want to view the folder contents in List view, the best you can do is bring up the Inspector (Command-Option-i), expand the More Info section, then move down the list using the arrow key. The Inspector pane's contents change with each new selected item, and the More Info section includes the dimensions.

  • Is it possible to change the page of a linked PDF without relinking?

Is it possible to change the page of a linked PDF without relinking and going through the import options?
I'm trying to import seveeral pages of the same PDF. The process would be quickest if I could import it once, then duplicate the image box a number of times, then just change the page number each image box is linking to.
At the moment I'm having to relink (or place), then go through Import Options, then choose the page - it's a long process that feels like it should be quicker.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

The short answer is no, that's not possible, but it IS possible to import multiple pages at one time.
My favorite script for this is from Scott Zanelli: InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Zanelli Releases MultiPageImporter for Importing both PDF and INDD Files, but there's also a sample script included with ID.
