Find My Friends Follow Requests

A friend has sent me multiple requests to follow me on find my friends and no matter what I do it won't allow me to accept the request sent via email nor does the request show up in this app.  However, I am able to follow them.  I have tried all the suggestions in the help function of the app and have reinstalled and uninstalled the app a few times.  Can anyone help?

Check Settings > General > Restrictions.  If restrictions are on, it could be that either Find My Friends is set to disallow changes, or location services are restricted.

  • Find my Friends requests not arriving

    Hi
I have a friend who has been trying all day to send me a follow request and seems to be failing. I am not getting the requests in the app, and they are not diverting to email (see ODD STUFF note below).
I've spent a while going through all the settings on the app and in notifications and everything is fine. I've had requests from her, and others before and they are fine. She had to delete her app and start again. She thought there was a bug her end. But it seems like a Cloud issue, read on...
    ODD STUFF
I have seen a correlation between her sending a request and me getting an email from apple (with her name as the reply to) saying:  "Get set up and start enjoying iCloud today"
I think there is obviously a bug as she was able to get the invite through a few days ago to my iPad, but now it's conked out entirely. It seems the requests are NOT getting through to the INVITATION tab in the FmFs app, so they are diverting to email, but it's going wrong somewhere and apple do not seem to be interpreting the email correctly, or the email version of the accept invitation has corrupt formatting.
    Definitely needs some attention.

  • Find my Friends not receiving requests

I have installed find my friends app and setup icloud.  I am not receiving friend requests in the app.  My friends cant follow me but I can follow them.  If I click on the request in my email it redirects to a page that says download the find my friends app.  It is already installed.  I have tried everyting I can think of...my sister's phone works but mine does not.  Any suggestions?  I am starting to get very frustrated with this app.  Thanks!!

Appreciate that, but it's not as useful now.  Many users have the same issue, also see

  • Find My Friend request opens the App Store even though I have the app installed.

I have the App Find My Friends installed on my iPhone.
I sent my boyfriend a request which he accepted and I can now follow him and this works perfectly.
The issue came when he sent me a request in return.
I got the request in my emails. Opened it up and clicked the link, but instead of opening Find My Friends it opened the App Store but once open the App store tells me the app is "Installed"
I've deleted and reinstalled the App and also checked that it was downloaded on my Apple ID rather than his. But for some reason my phone thinks I don't have the App installed.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

Ask him to send another request to you, but this time open the find my friends app and the request should be in the request box.

  • HT204407 my 2 daughters and I are sharing one icloud.  I am trying to set up and use find my friends with them, but it won't let me.  It says I can't send a request to myself when I send one to her email address, which is different than mine.  What am I d

my two daughters and I have iphones.  I am trying to set up and use find my friends with them. We have 1 icloud, but different emails.  When I send a request it states that I can't send a request to myself.  What am I doing wrong

Sharing an Apple ID is never recommended for these reasons.
They can create their own: http://appleid.apple.com and you can add them at the addresses they use for their ID.
Sharing an Apple ID is not recommended because all of your data gets merged and when it gets deleted from one device, it deletes from them all, such as Contacts.

  • Find my friends - block position from one follower only ??

In the "Find my Friends" app, I don't understand why it isn't possible to block your position from one (or a few) follower(s)?
It seems like one of the most important things !!! And the option isn't available !
Ok, you can block your position from all... but why?
In this case, why use the app at all ?
It seems so logical that you could choose... because there are differences between close friends, friends and your family.
Apple, please ADD this option to the application !!
Maybe people would find more user friendly, and they would have better control over their privacy!
    Thank you !
    Stephanie

I just got this problem and cannot see how this can be undone either...
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • How to link follower to contact in Find My Friends?

In Find My Friends, one of my followers shows up as an e-mail address without linking to a contact.  The 'Add to existing contact' and 'Create contact' buttons are missing.  The weird part, is under 'Contact Info', it shows 'main 2', 'other [email protected]'.  I have a contact with [email protected]  I even added 2 as an email address for that contact with no luck.

Also, I checked that Find My Friends has access to contact data under Settings > Privacy > Contacts

  • Find My Friends no longer accepts invites

    Hello,
All of a sudden my wife and I can't send/receive invitations with Find My Friends App.  Worked forever till recently. If I send the request from my phone her name will show up in the list as invited for 20 seconds then disappear. If I send the invite from her phone, I can only type in my email address that is my iCloud, but it stays grey and doesn't turn orange as valid. I have verified iCloud is working on her phone, I can manually do an iCloud backup, her Find my iPhone app works... but also on her phone...in her Contacts for her contact...I've added a photo...and when I log into Find My Friends, at the bottom of the screen where it shows "Me" it doesn't show the photo. Odd.... it's an iPhone 5, and on 7.1  Oh and location services are working on the phone too.
Any suggestions appreciated and thank you in advance.  Hopefully I'm just missing something easy.
    Regards,
    Bob

    Hey there doylebob,
It sounds like your Find my Friends invitations are not working correctly. I would use the troubleshooting from the following article to help resolve this issue:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting Find My Friends
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4008
Make sure that you have the latest version of the Find My Friends app installed on your iOS device. If the app is up to date, try the steps for troubleshooting apps purchased from the App Store.
Make sure there aren't any current issues listed in System Status affecting Find My Friends.
Make sure the issue you're seeing isn't already covered in the Help menu. Find My Friends Help is available within the Find My Friends app.
Find My Friends 3.0 or later:
On an iPhone or iPod touch, tap Me, then tap Help.
On an iPad, tap the List button, tap Me, tap Info, then tap Help.
Find My Friends 2.1.1 or earlier: Tap the Me tab, tap Account, then tap Find My Friends Help.
Quit and restart the Find My Friends app on your iOS device. Wait a minute before reopening the Find My Friends app.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Server error on 'Find my Friends'

    Hi Guys/Girls,
I changed my apple ID a while ago but now I get a server error on find my friends?  I'm verified etc on my device and id but when I re-install the app it keeps telling me there's a server error.  How can i fix this?
I've deleted the app, logged out and then back in, reset my network settings, everything is verified but still I can't accept follows/request them, it's doing my head in!!
    Cheers
    Steve

I ended up being able to solve it. It turned out the e-mail address associated with the account was not set up correctly.
I found out by accident when I tried to get Find My Friends to work on an older device with iOS 6. When I installed Find My Friends on that device, the App Store said the latest version required iOS 7 but I could load the previous version of Find My Friends.
This older version turned out to be much more helpful: instead of the server error, it told me exactly what the problem was. I just selected the correct e-mail address (which was the only one in the list, but not actually active) and everything worked correctly from then on.

  • Find My Friends does not send notifications - iOS8

The Find My Friends iOS8 app is not sending the requested notifications when "Notify Me" is being used to alert arrival at/departure from a location.  All following/sharing location settings are confirmed amongst users (Find My Phone works, as does location in Find My Friends).
"Notify Me" will save the request, and appear highlighted in the main screen, and will stay that way as long as the alert conditions have not been met.  However "Notify Me" will clear to default, inactive state after the requested arrival/departure has happened, without having sent the nofitication.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Find My Friends Notifications (iOS8)

I've been getting strange results using Find My Friends notifications between our two iPhone 6s. Today for example my phone finds my wife's phone centered where she is currently, but the location bubble is large and when I tap "notify me" I get no locations listed under "Choose location..." If I tap on "Choose locations..." the map zooms to my location, which obviously isn't what I wanted. The only other option I am offered is "cancel" at the top of the screen. The "done" option is dimmed out. At other times the notifications work perfectly. I can't detect a pattern or find any way to make this work consistently. Yes, I have visited the official troubleshooting page, but it offers no advice that addresses this problem. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

  • Find my friends app not working

I am unable to add or receive followers. It has been working fine for ages then one of my contacts said they couldn't see me anymore. They have sentence numerous requests but it hasn't come through to me (nor has it the other way round) and now another contact can't see me. Anyone else have this issue and resolved it?

    Hey kw05,
Thanks for the question. The following resource may provide a solution:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting Find My Friends
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4008
    Issues with location requests
You are not receiving requests from others to follow your location
If you're certain someone has sent you a location request using Find My Friends, and you do not receive the notification:
    - Make sure that you're signed in to the Find My Friends iOS app with the Apple ID your friend is trying to follow. If that was not the case, check the inbox of the email address your friend used, and see if there is any location request email from your friend. If so, tap View Request in that message to accept or decline their request in Find My Friends.
    - Make sure that the option to Allow Friend Requests is turned on:
              - Find My Friends 3.0 or later:
              - On an iPhone or iPod touch, tap Me, then check Allow Friend Requests under Invitations
              - On an iPad, tap the List button, tap Me, tap Info, then check Allow Friend Requests.
              - Find My Friends 2.1.1 or earlier: Tap the Me tab, tap Account, then check Allow Friend Requests under Notifications.
    - Make sure that you're within the limits to accept follow requests. If you have reached a limit, you may not be able to accept more friends until you remove one.
Your requests to follow others are not received
    - Make sure that you're sending your request to the Apple ID your friend is using to sign in to the Find My Friends iOS app.
    - Make sure that you're within the limits to send follow requests to others. If you have reached a limit, you may not be able to send a location request to more friends until you remove one.
Note: If you accept a request from a friend that you’re not following, a follow request is sent to your friend automatically (Find My Friends 3.0 or later).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I have the same apple id on three devices need my daughter to be separate on find my friends, but right now we have to pick which device is found, can I change this with a different id?  We share an itunes.

I have my phone, ipad, and touch all on my itunes and same apple id.  It is my daughter's touch and I want to have her on my "find my friends" but it is not allowing her device to be separate than mine.  Do I get her a separate apple ID, and can that still put her stuff on "our" itunes?

You'll want a separate iCloud account for each user in addition to the main Apple ID used for purchases.
Let's say you have a family of four (husband, wife, and two children). Here is what you will need:
Main Apple ID for shared purchases in Tunes (everybody will be using this)
iCloud (Apple ID) account for husband
iCloud (Apple ID) account for wife
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 1
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 2
Yes, you can have both an Apple ID and iCloud account setup on the same device. On each iOS device, setup the main Apple ID account for the following services:
iCloud (Photo Stream and Backup are the only items selected here).
    Music Home Sharing
    Video Home Sharing
    Photo Stream
Additionally, on each iOS device, add a new iCloud account (Under Mail, Contacts, Calendar) that is unique to each user for the following services:
    Mail (if using @me.com)
    Contacts
    Calendars
    Reminders
    Bookmarks
    Notes
    Find My iPhone
    Messages
    Find Friends
    FaceTime
On your individual Macs (or Mac accounts), use the main Apple ID in iTunes. Then, use the unique iCloud account in/for iCloud.
Now that everbody is using separate iCloud accounts for your contacts, calendars, and other things, it will be all be kept separate.
The only thing that is now 'shared' would be iTunes content (apps and other purchases), backups via iCloud (if enabled), and Photo Stream (if enabled).

  • HT201493 can 2 pepole use find my friends on 2 devices with the same apple id

My wife and I are connected to the same Apple ID we would like to use Find My Friends to follow each other but only one of use shows up on the map,

The app should locate both phones if they are using the same iCloud account and the app is signed into the account.  If they are using different account, sign out, then sign back in with the other account to track the other phone.
If one of them isn't showing and you're signed into the correct iCloud account, go to Settings>iCloud on the phone in question and turn Find My iPhone Off, then back On.
