Find my friends missing temporary events

Ever since I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 Find my Friends has been missing the "temporary event" feature. Did apple quietly retire this? I have uninstalled app and reinstalled and it's still not there.

For better or worse (and it is worse in my opinion) they have moved this feature...at least in part...to the Messages app.
While looking at a "conversation" in the Messages app, click "Details" in the upper righthand corner. Click "Share My Location" to share you location with members of the conversation. Your options are "Share for One Hour," "Share Until End of Day," or "Share Indefinitely."
No one else in my family has upgraded their phone to iOS 8. I am under the impression it only works with other people using iOS 8, but I haven't gotten it to work with anyone, yet.

Find my friends temporary event

This support article talks about limits for temporary events but I cannot figure out how to setup a temporary event in the find my friends app or even just temporary sharing with an individual, you used to be able to do it the old version of find my friends, did they remove this functionality?
I would also like to know how to stop sharing my location with an individual friend, do I just remove them from my friends list and my location is no longer shared with them? I can see the option to stop sharing my location, but that will stop it for everyone.

Find my friends temporary sharing issue?

I am having trouble with temporary sharing in the Find My Friends app. I can no longer create an event for longer than 24 hours. Is this something new?

I'm having the same problem - Version 7.1. If I select more than 24 hours sharing, it changes the amount of time back to 24 hours. It's frustrating because the app is clearly designed to allow for sharing of more than 24 hours, and, when I'm on a work trip, I would love to share my location for the duration of the trip with my colleagues.

Find my friends everywhere setting missing in ios7?

There used to be an everywhere selection in Find My Friends. Did it disappear in IOS 7 update? Also on iPad the list view only shows when you select it, while on iPhone both list and map ate displayed now. Is there settings for this on iPad?

The troubleshooting steps DO NOT HELP. This is a BUG. Background app refresh does not seem to work with IOS7 and Find Friends.
I went over the steps above and all my setting are correct including background refresh... The iOS7 update seems to have killed the ability to find friends unless the friend has the app open at the same time you have yours open... I can only see my friends who HAVE NOT updated to iOS7.
This is obviously a problem because most of people I know dont leave apps open in an effort to conserve battery life.
I sure hope Apple fixes this... this was prolly my favorite app and one of the reasons I talked many of my relitives into getting the iPhone.

Can't download Find My Friends on devices running iOS 6 or 7

I can no longer download Find My Friends on my kids iPhone 4(iOS 7) and 3gs(iOS 6) as the app store now says it is only for iOS 8 and up.
I used to have one main iCloud account that I used on all my families devices to easily track them. We have had 3 iPhones stolen so it was an issue to be able to locate them quickly and easily. Now that I have set up a family, the main iCloud account on each device is now the individual family members iCloud account. I figured Find My Friends would do for tracking lost and stolen devices, but I can not download the app onto the iPhone 4 and 3gs.
Am I missing something? I have Find My iPhone turned on both devices. The family member shows up in my list of family members on my iPhone 4s running iOS 8 in Find My Friends, but their location is not available. So I am assuming I have to share their location from Find My Friends on their device. I have not tried logging in as them from my device and sharing their location then logging back into my account, but quite frankly I don't have the time to mess with it. Which is why I have an iPhone in the first place...

I have the same issue. I restored an iPhone 4 for my 16 year old niece. Only stipulation was she use Find My Friends. While I was getting the apps for the phone I was unable to download one of the most important features. It would be great if they allowed 2 versions or incorporated support for iOS 7.1.2. I'm sure I'm not the only one who decided to give up the $200 trade in offers to keep a perfectly good phone (looks new still from case use) in the family.

Find My Friends no longer accepts invites

Hello,
All of a sudden my wife and I can't send/receive invitations with Find My Friends App. Worked forever till recently. If I send the request from my phone her name will show up in the list as invited for 20 seconds then disappear. If I send the invite from her phone, I can only type in my email address that is my iCloud, but it stays grey and doesn't turn orange as valid. I have verified iCloud is working on her phone, I can manually do an iCloud backup, her Find my iPhone app works... but also on her phone...in her Contacts for her contact...I've added a photo...and when I log into Find My Friends, at the bottom of the screen where it shows "Me" it doesn't show the photo. Odd.... it's an iPhone 5, and on 7.1 Oh and location services are working on the phone too.
Any suggestions appreciated and thank you in advance. Hopefully I'm just missing something easy.

It sounds like your Find my Friends invitations are not working correctly. I would use the troubleshooting from the following article to help resolve this issue:

Make sure that you have the latest version of the Find My Friends app installed on your iOS device. If the app is up to date, try the steps for troubleshooting apps purchased from the App Store.
Make sure there aren't any current issues listed in System Status affecting Find My Friends.
Make sure the issue you're seeing isn't already covered in the Help menu. Find My Friends Help is available within the Find My Friends app.
Find My Friends 3.0 or later:
On an iPhone or iPod touch, tap Me, then tap Help.
On an iPad, tap the List button, tap Me, tap Info, then tap Help.
Find My Friends 2.1.1 or earlier: Tap the Me tab, tap Account, then tap Find My Friends Help.
Quit and restart the Find My Friends app on your iOS device. Wait a minute before reopening the Find My Friends app.

I don't see icons i downloaded like "Find My Friends Reminders?" what's up with this?

Am I missing something? I downlarded "Find My Friends + Reminders"... but don't see any icons??? If I enter search I will find them but otherwise no icons. Did I miss a memo??

How to link follower to contact in Find My Friends?

In Find My Friends, one of my followers shows up as an e-mail address without linking to a contact. The 'Add to existing contact' and 'Create contact' buttons are missing. The weird part, is under 'Contact Info', it shows 'main 2', 'other [email protected]'. I have a contact with [email protected] I even added 2 as an email address for that contact with no luck.

Also, I checked that Find My Friends has access to contact data under Settings > Privacy > Contacts

I Find "Find My Friends" to be very Flakey

I see a lot of 'Find My Friends not working' posts, but I wonder if anyone is having this problem: FMF is very unreliable. Sometimes it sends an alert at the right time, but it might not show an alert, or it might show it hours later after the event. So I know it "works" for me because it will actually send an alert sometimes, but it's very very unreliable. I have Background App Refresh enabled, and BAR for FMF turned on. Also, I have FMF enabled in Notification Center, with Banner alert style selected, and all the other options turned on.

So has anyone else experienced this?

"Weird" needs further explanation.
Google's highly nonstandard IMAP implementation is weird, if you're using Gmail, though Apple bent over backwards to accomodate it. Other than that, what do you mean by "weird"?

Find My Friends - Multiple Notifications Not Working (Only One)

When I setup notifications in my Find My Friends, it appears that only the most recent notification I've setup works. For example:
I've setup two notifications:
-Notify Person-B when I leave Home, Every time
-Notify Person-B when I arrive Home, Every time
In this situation only the notification for Arriving is working, since it was the most recent created. If I delete the notifications and create the arrival first and departure last, then only the departure works.
I'm hoping that I'm missing something here because this is a major flaw. We want to setup multiple notifications, for example when I arrive and then leave my work, school, etc. If you can only have one notification per person its borderline useless...

I've tried setting it to both; standard results in dots appearing over a blank background. Setting it to hybrid shows them on the satellite image, but with no street signs. Basically, for some reason, nothing from the map will display.

IPad find my friends trouble

I Have a Apple ID And iCloud email address and have added several alias email´s to my icloud account.
these alias are also added to my iPad HD Mini APP ( Find my friends ) under me for invitations > send as.
Problem is: I Deleted my several alias email addresses from my iCloud account ( iCloud.com ) deleted from iCloud no problem.
But the alias email´s still exist in the Find my friends APP for my iPad under me > invitations > send as
when these alias email´s we´re deleted from iCloud, was deleted from all apps that are connected except Find my friends.
example: iMessage no longer shows these alias email addresses. the alias we´re removed automatically as they should have.
find my friends is the only APP That did not remove the alias email´s from iCloud.
any sugesstions ?

Only temporary solution I Have found is:
1) Delete all the alias email´s you want removed from iCloud.com account
2) Go to your apple Id account ( Web)
3) ad all the email address´s or alias email´s you want removed
4) wait 30 minutes or so
5) now delete the alias email´s you want removed.
make sure Find my Friends is installed before you do the above
check back later after 30 minutes or more in your find my friends app to see if they are gone.
try logging out also.
this worked for me but is only temporary on the client side as if you decide to later delete
the find my friends APP on your iPhone 4+ or iPad 2 + and later install the APP Again,
all the alias email´s will have returned to your find my friends APP Under send as

Find the Folder called iPod Photo Cache and drag it to the Trash...

Find My Friends - Old email address still in "Send As" Invitations...

In Find My Friends App, Under Me (The Account Holder), Invitations, in the Send as tab, I have old email address in that menu which I can't delete, its says under it in orange, "This address will be used to identify you when sending requests using Find My Friends. You can add more addresses at appleid.apple.com
I have logged into appleid.apple.com and there is no additional or alias addresses under that id, I have also checked my icloud email for aliases and to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas to get rid of the old email addresses under Invitations?

How do I get Find My Friends to use contacts after clicking no

OK. So My wife updated to the new version of Find My Friends. On relaunch it asked if it could use her contacts. She clicked no without thinking.
Now Find My Fiends doesn't link back to the rest of her contacts. She wants her pictures! :-) Anyone point me in the right direction?
I've already removed the app and tried an reinstall and checked the basic preferences area. But I may have missed it.

Go to Settings > Privacy > Contacts and change the setting for "Find Friends" to "ON". That should also allow Find Friends to now access your contacts and dispaly names and photos.

Change account in iOS 8 Find my Friends?

It seams that under iOS 8, Find my Friends is now lock into using my iCloud login?
In the past I was able to use a separate Apple ID for Find my Friends.
Am I missing where the logout is so that I can change back to the Apple ID all my friends are following?

I agree that this is a real step back and a bit of a pain. My wife and I have always shared an iCloud account and have been able to separate our iMessage and Facetime and Find Friends accounts but keep everything else together.
I understand that we are supposed to be using family sharing, and for the most part it looks like it would work, except for the photos.
I have upgraded to iCloud photos and was really looking forward to having just one wall of photos that my wife and I can share and manage an keep everything on all of our devices.
If I understand how family sharing works with photos, we now have a separate 'family' stream and we have to copy pictures from our own (now separated) iCloud photo accounts and copy them into the family's stream to be able to see each other's photos.
I don't think I want to do that, so does this mean we have to give up on find friends?
I just read something that makes this a dealbreaker. With the family sharing, you cannot share an iTunes match account. So, looks like we will not be using family sharing and will just have to live without find friends.
One workaround is to use 'find my phone'. If I need to know where my wife is, I can just look up where her phone is.
