Find My Friends Notifications (iOS8)

I've been getting strange results using Find My Friends notifications between our two iPhone 6s. Today for example my phone finds my wife's phone centered where she is currently, but the location bubble is large and when I tap "notify me" I get no locations listed under "Choose location..." If I tap on "Choose locations..." the map zooms to my location, which obviously isn't what I wanted. The only other option I am offered is "cancel" at the top of the screen. The "done" option is dimmed out. At other times the notifications work perfectly. I can't detect a pattern or find any way to make this work consistently. Yes, I have visited the official troubleshooting page, but it offers no advice that addresses this problem. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

IOS6 Find My Friends Notification not working?

I've read some of the other posts but still no dice. I have a 4S and my friend has an iphone 5. We both have always been able to track each other in Find My Friends. Recently I tried to use the Notify Me button for when they leave or arrive at a location and I've never got an alert. the Notify Me button let me select it, I could enter in the criteria but never received an alert.
I've signed out and back in, made sure there isn't an update for it (Version 2.0 (2A77), etc. but no dice. I've seen notes about needing Passcode or whatnot to be on, but we already had a passcode.
I am not in Do Not Disturb mode and Notifications are on for Find Friends.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

It is in passcode mode and the app is closed out on my iPad and it still notifies me.
I did another interesting test. My mom just got the iPhone 5 a few days ago. Here's the setup. I have a new iPad, 4S, and 5 all running iOS 6 and all on the same WiFi connection. The iPad and 4S are set up on my account and the 5 on my mom's.
When I send a friend request from my mom's 5, it instantly shows up on the lock screen of my iPad telling me I have a friend request, but never shows up on my 4S. When I send a friend request from my 4S to my mom's 5 it instantly shows up on her lock screen.
So the notifications for this app seems to work just fine for the latest generation of iOS products.

Find My Friends "Notifications Not Available"

Was wondering if anyone has had this issue:
When using Find My Friends, I am unable to use geo-fencing/ "Notify Me" is greyed out, and when I click on "Me", and then "Notify", I get a popup with the following message, "Notificatons Not Available".
Here is my setup:
iPhone 4S
iOS 6
A .me account that has been migrated from the old ME system
Steps I have taken to trouble-shoot:
1. Sign in from another icloud account. That account works fine, so I know it's nothing with my iPhone notifications.
2. Try my account on a different device (new iPad and iPhone 4)... my account does not work, but others do.
3. Tried signing in using my new ".icloud" email address, to the same effect as if I logged in with my ".me" address (same error)
4. Created a new account, and it worked fine. I would like to avoid this route, as I don't want to change my email address...
I am fairly certain it is a setting somewhere in my iCloud account, but I have looked everywhere (every possible notification is turned on) and can't find anything...
The other people I am trying to locate DO work, are updated, and are all using proper hardware, etc, etc... I have followed all the suggestions in other threads, but it seems my issue is slightly different.
Has anyone else had this? Thoughts?

Nope, still no solution for me. I know it's not just an upgrade issue, tho. I totally wiped my phone and installed iOS 6 "clean" and it didn't work for me with my account. But when I tried a different account, it worked fine, so I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the account itself... I think maybe becasue it's old, I had it way back before iCloud and it's been migrated.
Hopefully someone has a solution; I talked to the "Genuis" bar and they didn't have a clue...

Find My Friends on iOS8

After upgrading to iOS8, I cannot see my wife's contact with picture as I did before the upgrade. I removed her contact and re-added it but I still cannot add her contact that shows the picture associated with her contact. I have her contact listed as a favourite but when I search her name only her email address shows up and then the little circle has her initials and not her picture. The list of contacts I can add is also limited and not sure why it only shows those few.

Hi, i have also found this to be a problem.. until - I thought I'd take a look at Find my iPhone.. sure not the same functionality as Find My Friends - but all of your devices under the one MAIN AppleID (iCloud) account DO show up on Find my iPhone App.
Will use this for now, until i can figure out another solution. All the best!

Find my friends notifications

I get email notifications for ONE of my contacts in Find my Friends to an email address that is neither associated with my Apple ID or find friends. Like the idea but seem unable to receive notifications from other friends by email. Any ideas ?

Find My Friends notifications show wrong time.

I set up Find My Friends in IOS 6 to send me an email when I leave my house in the morning using the new geofencing feature. I'm getting the emails but it's showing that I left my house four hours earlier than I did. For instance, I left home this morning at 8:54am. When I got to work and saw the email it showed that "Rob left ------------------- Rd Lincolnton, NC United States at 4:54 AM". I have the correct time set on both my iPad and iPhone. Set Automatically is ON and my Time Zone is "New York". Any idea why this is happening?

Find My Friends does not send notifications - iOS8

The Find My Friends iOS8 app is not sending the requested notifications when "Notify Me" is being used to alert arrival at/departure from a location. All following/sharing location settings are confirmed amongst users (Find My Phone works, as does location in Find My Friends).
"Notify Me" will save the request, and appear highlighted in the main screen, and will stay that way as long as the alert conditions have not been met. However "Notify Me" will clear to default, inactive state after the requested arrival/departure has happened, without having sent the nofitication.
Any ideas?

Find my Friends can no longer be installed after iOS8

I Have had Find my Friends on my iPhone with iOS 6 and then 7 and used to work fine, but since I upgraded to iOS8 I can no longer install the App, it will start to install and then delete itself from the home screen. It will have all the entries in the Settings menus until the iPhone is restarted, this is as if it's forbidden to be installed on my iPhone. It's iPhone 5 model ND662KH/A.
i tried different Apple IDs but no change on this phone. The same can be installed on my iPad and there it works properly, just why it will not install on my iPhone 5?!!

Both the Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause an issue like that. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.

Find My Friends - Multiple Notifications Not Working (Only One)

When I setup notifications in my Find My Friends, it appears that only the most recent notification I've setup works. For example:
I've setup two notifications:
-Notify Person-B when I leave Home, Every time
-Notify Person-B when I arrive Home, Every time
In this situation only the notification for Arriving is working, since it was the most recent created. If I delete the notifications and create the arrival first and departure last, then only the departure works.
I'm hoping that I'm missing something here because this is a major flaw. We want to setup multiple notifications, for example when I arrive and then leave my work, school, etc. If you can only have one notification per person its borderline useless...

I've tried setting it to both; standard results in dots appearing over a blank background. Setting it to hybrid shows them on the satellite image, but with no street signs. Basically, for some reason, nothing from the map will display.

Remove Notifications to a friend on Find My Friends

Hey folks
I have an interesting problem. I have a up to date Iphone5s and I am using Find My Friends.
I accidentially turned on Notify "Friend".
So now when ever I come and go from my place and work... I been sending a notifications of my comings and going.
Ok when this happened we thought it was funny but now I really like to find a way to turn it off.
So on my phone under Find My Friends, Under the Persons Name, there is Notify Me and Notify Friend.
How do I turn off all notifications?
One of the things I have tried to do is to remove them from my friend list and then re-add them.
That didn't work.....
Does anyone know how to turn notifications to this friend off?

"No location available" label for friends
This can occur if:
The device being located:Your friend is currently not signed in to the Find My Friends app on the device being located.
Is turned off
Is not connected to a data network (cellular or Wi-Fi)
Has Hide My Location (Hide from Followers in version 2.1.1 or earlier) turned on in the Find My Friends app
Has Location Services turned off altogether in Settings > Privacy > Location Services or has Location Services turned off specifically for Find My Friends in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Find Friends
Your friend is currently not signed in to the Find My Friends app on the device being located.

Find My Friends Push Notifications Message

I keep getting "connect to iTunes to use Push Notifications" in the Find my Friends app. The only response it allows is OK, but when I hit OK, the message keeps coming back. How do I get rid of this message?

i had the same problem and THE ONLY WAY i got it fixed was to
1-back up device
2- restore ipad
3- restore to back up
dosent make much sense to me cause ive just put back on what was i thought would be a problem back up ... but it did work. just takes a while to get all your apps back in place tho ..

Find My Friends on iPhone 4s gives constant push notification message

I replaced my iPhone 4 with an iPhone 4s last night. I was using Find My Friends on both my iPhone 4 and my iPad before I changed phones. After the phone update, the app still works fine on the iPad. But when I log into the FMF app on the iPhone 4s I get the following message over and over.
Connect to iTunes to Use
Push Notifications
"Find Friends" notifications may
include alerts, sounds and icon
badges.
There is an OK button at the bottom of the message. When I press it, the message goes away for no more than two seconds and then comes back. Over and over and over.
I have deleted the app and reinstalled it several times and I've turned notifications on and off several times. I connected to iTUnes like it said, but I can't see anything that I need to do to turn on Push notifications.
Anybody else seeing this?

BTW, if it matters, none of my iOS devices are jailbroken. The old phone was (completely legally) running the iOS5 GM from the developer program.

After further research and testing, it is clear this is not an issue with FInd My Friends. The issue is with the loss of Push Notifications. It is happening in other apps as well. There are lots of threads on the Push Notification issue. None of them have any solution except to reinstall iOS5.

Hard reset helps (pressing two buttons at the same time until you see apple on the screen.

Find Friends Notification Accuracy

We have been tracking a teenager (with his permission) for some time now and it has seemed to work fine. However, lately we have a notify set to let us know if he arrives at a certain house that he is not supposed to go to. The purple circle shows 300 ft range and the exact house address. We are getting notifications that he has arrived there, but he swears he hasn't been there at all. Is this possible?! The home is on a side street off a main street that he travels on regularly - but it is at least double the 300 ft range we have set for the notify. Is it still possible that this is triggering the notify? Another time it notified that he had gone there in the middle of the night but he swears he was home all night - can the app get confused and start notifying us randomly since a month ago he WAS going there very frequently?
Also, many times it will ding and say he has arrived at that location "now" but when I look at the app, it shows him there but suddenly jumps several miles away! It would be impossible for him to get that far away that fast! What would cause this?

When someone is mobile, the location is determined via cellular tower triangulation in combination with WiFi sniffing and GPS. it can be wildly inaccurate.
In short, yes, it's very possible that it's triggering the geofence when he's traveling down the main road that's near it, even if it appears there is a 300' limit.
I can't comment on the middle of the night thing... no idea how close he was when he claimed to have not been there... I have not found the notifications from find my friends to be stunningly accurate and certainly wouldn't want to go to court on anything it said.
