Find My iPad box frozen

I used Find My iPad and found my iPad. However, when I press the "ok" button the Find My iPad Alert box does not disappear. I have pressed the okay button on multiple occassions and even left my iPad alone for an hour, but the Find My iPad Alert box is still there and I cannot get into my iPad. I tried shutting my iPad off, but the iPad would not allow me to do that either.

I finally found an answer that works for me (not certain it would work for someone who only has an iPad): I connected my iPad to my MacBook Pro, clicked on the bouncing iTunes icon and did a system restore. This unlocked and reset my iPad and restored most of the information I had on it. Fortunately, I had performed a back-up of my iPad not long ago, but I still lost much of my more recent work on the iPad - Something to remember. Hopefully this will help others in the future.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

THis suggestion also worked for my iphone! After a few warnings, the screen on my iPhone froze. there was no way to make phone calls or manage my iCloud storage or even turn it off. I deleted all the photos on my iphone, checked storage and nothing changed. So I purchased more storage, did the backup and still the screen remained frozen. To be sure, I checked that the new amount of storage was registered, it was but somehow my Mac showed the backup I had just performed (a couple of times) not having happened (it show the last one some 2 weeks before). Weird but I followed your suggestion (wish I had seen it before I purchased new storage) and Ta DAH!!! I'm back in business too. thanks!!

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Can't find my ipad

Can't find my ipad at home, lost power, so I cloud can't play sound. I need to find serial number, but can't find a way to do it on iDloud, to see if cleaning lady activated it elsewhere. How can I do this?

I don't think having the serial number will allow you to find out if it's been activated, but if you want to find your serial number you can look for it in several ways, including:
On the box it came in
In iTunes by going to Preferences>Devices and hovering your mouse of the backup on the Backups list
At https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do, if you ever registered it with Apple.

The only way to "find it" is to use Find my iPad and iCloud - but it will only work if you already turned that feature on. And even then, it will only work when the iPad is connected to a network and has not been wiped out by the thief. Otherwise, all you can do is turn the info in to the police.

You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.
