Find my iPad with a reply in a foreign language?

I Just updated my iPad to iOS7 and got an email with a find my iPad reply in a strange language like this:

My standard language is actually German. Cna somebody help me or tell me how I can change this?

On you're PC, you can use your browser to go to www.icloud.com where you sign into your acount, select find my iPhone, select your iPad 2, and then it will show you its location if it is wi-fi + 3G. If it is wi-fi only, it might show you its general location (mine wont) but even if you cant see its location, if it connects to a wifi network, you can remote lock, remote wipe, send a message, or play a sound on it.

    I had FindMyPhone installed and activated on MY Lost iPad (now with a new "owner") and it NEVER worked EVER!
    There is/was no such thing as FindMyiPad...ONLY FindMyPhone. It WAS installed (I dont own an iPhone) AND activated! I suspect that unless you have 4G device it is worthless. Actually I  know this for a fact!
    AND, I knew that the new "Owner" had gone online (despite FindMyPhone telling me otherwise and NEVER locking my iPad) because Dropbox on my laptop suddenly had new photos that were taken by the new "owner".
    I am now of the mind that Apple does not want us to find our lost or stolen gadgets. They make money off  us when we replace them. Do what I am going to do: BUY USED!

    Hi,
    Has anyone been able to get the "Find my iPad" feature from MobileMe to work on a 3G iPad that isn't signed up for 3G service? I supposed I should just enable my 3G, but I wasn't going to bother until I needed to use my iPad outside of WiFi areas.
    I have done everything that is supposed to enable find my iPad (push notifications, enable find my ipad, add a passcode, etc.), but MobileMe just says my iPad is offline. It finds my iTouch just fine with all of the same settings.

    Yes, it will even work with 3G off but wifi on. It seems to use a connection (either way) and GPS to located the iPad. I tried it before activing an AT&T account and with cellular data off.

    I am working on setting up multiple Ipad 2 tablets with iOS 5.1.1 and I need to restrict access to turn off find my ipad. The only way I see to do this is to turn on restrictions and dont allow changes on accounts. The issue I have then is it also restricts the Mail app setup. Is there a way to restrict one and not the other? We use microsoft exchange mail and I would be willing to use another mail app if anyone can suggest one that works as an alternative?

    I don't know of any reliable tracking app, but perhaps someone else here can suggest one I'm not aware of. Any could be defeated by just restoring the iPad, though, so about all you could hope to do would be make things a bit more difficult to turn off. For a third-party app, you'd have to restrict the user's ability to uninstall apps, something which might be equally problematic for you.

    There is no way for Apple to track an iOS a device by serial number. Your data is unprotected and you should take steps to make sure that nothing is compromised.

    Yes. You can log into iCloud.com on a Mac running Leopard. I can log into my account at work on an iMac running Tiger 10.4.11. I do it all the time.
    You will want to use Safari as the browser of choice.
    Give it a try and see for yourself.

    Last night, while I was very tired, I was going to change my password on my iPad. I did, and then fell asleep and now I can't remember he password. I have my iPad connected to my Find My iPhone/iPad and I was going to try to see of I could set a NEW password to my iPad from Find my iPhone on my iPhone. But, it wouldn't allow me to, and it said it would just set the password as the already existing password on my iPad. Any help?

    If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
    If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
    You may have to force iPad into Recovery Mode

    Unfortunately you can only enable Find my Phone while you have the device, I'm afraid there isn't anything you can do now.

  • I was connecting on my ipad to Find my ipad with the account of my sister (somebody stole her ipad..) and her ipad was obviously offline. Then i removed her device from the list (i know itd reappear on the list if it comes back online),but can i readd it?

    i didnt mean to remove it, i did it unintentionally.
    If the offline device is removed do i receive emails if it comes back online?
    p.s.: still no answers to how i have to put the offline device back on the list of my devices?!?

  • Can't setup our iPad as new device - resets after Find my iPad

    I decided to wipe our iPad mini so I can set it up with my 4yr son's apple id from scratch. I have already set him up with apple id, apple email and he is part of my family sharing.
    So, when I wiped it out I proceeded with setup - all normal dialogs - putting password for our wifi, choosing to set up as new iPad, logging in with his apple ID, choosing Use iCloud and then i get infamous find my iPad with two options. Each one I press iPad resets and Im back al HOLA dialog.
    I am not sure why is this happening ? If I choose my own or my wife's AID there are no problems, I don't even get asked about FIndMyiPad - goes straight into desktop.
    I did turn off Find my iPad before I wiped it out, and I also deleted it from my devices at iCloud.com.
    I imagine kids are not allowed to set up their devices when brand new ?
    It has to be parent, and after the fact you delete traces of your own apple ID in settings and replace it with kid's ?

    It's crazy that outcome if just a reset of the device, no explanation, or anything else...you click on find my ipad and black screen.
    I did what I wanted at the end...but not quite...since I had to put my apple ID to begin with, I keep getting emails on my own apple ID about everything on this device. Same for every time I use their Apple ID to log in into ICloud - I would get email about it.
    I believe I will block those emails.
    I really wanted to have them activate/manage their devices so I don't get these emails or notification. The only notification I wanted is when I need to approve their spending, but I took that off in my settings since it's pain in the b*** due to me needing to put their password for apple ID in iTunes store, and then put my aple id password on my iMac. So too complicated and too much of work for my taste.
    This is one of those rare missteps (for my taste) that apple does...making something counter intuitive and overly complicated for what it needs to do.

    If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. No must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.
    Turning off Find My IPad with requiring the password would completely defeat the purpose of this security feature.
