Find my iPhone app. "Online, not sharing location"

II've no issues with this app. Then last week my daughters phone saU.S. "online, not sharinh location." Im confused. I've seen it say "offline" or "location not available" but i can't figure how to fix "online, not sharing location."

the gsm satellites require a line of sight like a tv sat disc inside under thick walls it can't get a fix with the satellites and if the carrier or wifi network it's connected to can't provide a location, no location can be provided

  • Online, not sharing location

After allowing access among family members for devices for use with Find My iPhone family shared devices are displayed for a day or two then the devices are indicated as "online, not sharing location". If access is turned on again it works for at least a day or days after which family shared devices again show as "online not sharing location".  This seems to have happened at some point after one of the earlier  IOS 8 updates. The devices shared are iPhones and iPads.

This issue may have gone away with IOS 8.3, it has not been a problem for at least a week......

  • Is there any way to find a lost iPhone even if the Find my iPhone app is not logged in with iCloud account?

    Hello everyone,
I've lost my iPhone 5s yesterday in a party. The Find my iPhone app is not logged in with my iCloud account in the phone. Is there any way to find the phone? I'm really lost in this matter. Please help, if you can!
    Thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!!
I didn't think so, but was hoping this was a time, that someone knew something that I didn't.

  • How do i recover my lost iphone 4 when i only had the "find my iphone" app, how do i locate it, how do i recover my lost iphone 4 when i only had the "find my iphone" app, how do i locate it

As long as you enabled it when you first activated your Iphone, it's pretty straightforward.  Using any computer, go to icloud.com.  Sign in with your Apple ID. A screen will come up with a map showing the general location of your phone.  If you have a friend with an iphone and are logged in using Safari, when you get close, you can tell your iphone to make a sound.  Good luck.

  • My iPhone was stolen and the phone is powered off. Is there anyway to command it to turn on so I can use the "Find my iPhone" app to track the location?

My iPhone 4S was stolen a few days ago, and I was able to track the location with the "Find my iPhone" app. I had it play a sound which alarmed the thief, so they powered the phone off. They have not turned it on for four days now. Is there any way I can command it to power on or anything my service provider (Verizon) can do? Any suggestions will help! Not sure what they are going to do with it since a) they have not turned it on and b) it has a passcode and won't be able to be unlocked.

If it was stolen the thief will wipe it with the result that you will not be able to track it.
Contact your carrier.  They may be able to block further use of the phone.  No good to you but then no good to the thief either.

  • I have lost my ipad, what can I do to track it if find my iphone app was not downloaded

I have lost my ipad and how can I find it if I dont ha find my iphone app on it?

It actually doesn't matter if the Find My iPhone app is on your iPad.
What matters is whether you turned Find My iPhone on on your iPad in Settings > iCloud.  if you did, you can track it.  If not, you cannot.

  • TS4006 Find my iPhone app is not coming up in location services

On my new iPod when you go into PRIVACY > LOCATION SERVICES there is a list of apps that can use location services. In the list the app FIND MY IPHONE which I have previously downloaded does not come up in the list. This means that I cannot turn location services on for the app find my iPhone I cannot find my iPod on the app if I needed to.

  • TS4020 How can I locate my lost iPhone 5 with find my iPhone app ? Plus someone tried accessing my apple I'd on FaceTime on an unknown number related to iPhone 5 is this who's got my phone and can I track a number ?

How can I locate my lost iPhone 5 with find my iPhone app ? Plus someone tried accessing my apple I'd on FaceTime on an unknown number related to iPhone 5 is this who's got my phone and can I track a number ?

If you activated the Find My iPhone service (in Settings>icloud), and if the device's batteries still have a charge, the device is not turned off and has not been reset and is connected to wifi, then you can try to track it.  Using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and look at the Find My iPhone page.  On a device, invoke the Find My iPhone app (get it for free at the itunes app store) and log into the icloud account.  Note:  The Find My iPhone **app** does not turn on the service, you can only do that through Settings>icloud.
If the device is listed as "offline", then one of the requirements listed above is not met (like being connected to wifi, or if the device was stolen and the thief reset it).

  • My ipod was stolen and its not showing up on the find my iphone app... how else can I find it?

Ive tried multiple ways of finding my ipod. The find my iphone app is not even showing my ipod. Not sure if there is any other ways to find it??? I have the serial number and all info for the ipod. Help!

Assuming you had Find My iPhone enabled in the iCloud settings of the device, it will show only if it has a connection to the internet.

  • Find My iPhone App Sent Requests

I lost my phone and the battery died so the 'Find my iPhone' app did not work to locate it. I didnt have a passlock on it, so im a little concerned about whoever finds it that they may get some of my personal information if the individual charges it and turns it back on. Using the 'Find my iPhone' app, i sent a passcode lock request while it was turned off and in the meantime, i went to the store and purchased a new iPhone.
My question is, will the app successfully lock my previous phone, if i sent the request in prior to purchasing my new phone? If/When someone turns it on, will the phone prompt a passcode lock? Feedback is appreciated.

How are you connected? 3G? Wi-Fi?
Also, under the location services, check to make sure Find my iPhone is ON there as well. You also may want to turn on "Status Bar Icon" to be able to know when your device is being tracked.

  • Lost iPhone without Find my iPhone app

Lost my iPhone and the phone was turned off. Did not register Find my iphone app and not using iCloud but the phone is locked so passcode is needed.
Is there anyway that the person that took the iPhone can access to the information in my phone? If the person connect the phone to a PC/laptop, what are the info that he/she can get? I'm sure the photo albums can be accessed.
When the phone is off, can the person use siri to call 'home' and get to see my 'home' number?
    Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Off on an iPhone is off, nothing works. Since you did not turn on/activate Find My Phone, there is no way to locate it now, other than physically looking for it. Unless whoever finds your phone can guess the passcode, they will have to force the phone into recovery mode & restore it to remove the passcode. This will delete all data on the phone. However, the phone will be useless to them, as it cannot be re-activated without knowing your Apple ID/Password.
You should change your Apple ID password NOW.

  • How can i find my phone without the find my iPhone app?

My moms sim is in my phone we have the same number yet no one can call or send me a text. I dont think that i have a find my iphone app im not sure but when i downloaded it in my ipad and logged in i cant find my iphone in the devices.
so what can i do to find my phone im in big trouble i need to find this phone i lost it at thursday 22/5/2014 I need a solution my mom says i need to find it because who ever stole it can waste her money in her phone sim account

Your only alternative to find the iPhone is to start looking for it just as you would for anything else. There is no way the web or anyone else can help you.
Call the carrier and have her account on the iPhone disabled and then no one can usr it.

  • I lost my iPad mini while traveling recently.  Tried using Find My iPhone app to locate it, but it didn't show up...probably because not turned on.  I have the original receipt with article number and serial number.  Is there any way to locate it wit

I lost my iPad mini while traveling recently.  I tried using the Find My iPhone App (which showed my iMac, my iPhones, my old iPad, and my macbook) but the mini didn't show up...probably because it was turned off or the battery ran down.
I still have the original receipt from when I purchased it, showing the article number and the serial number.  Is there any way to locate it with that info?

No, unless you had Find My iPad enabled on it then there isn't any way to try and locate it.
Have you reported it to the police in case somebody hands it in ? You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc., and if it was a cellular model also contact your carrier.
