Find my iPhone new Zealand

Recently I had to find my iPod using find my iPhone, and received an email saying the message had been sent it us time when I am in nz? Why and is there a way to change the time. My iPod time setting is set to Wellington nz by locational services. Specs: iPod touch 4G, un jailbroken 8gb

It's probably because the servers that run "Find my iPhone" are located in the US - so any emails sent by those servers would be timestamped with the local US time.
I just tested it from the UK and the same occurs. A message sent at 11:58am UK time was reported as having been sent at 03:58AM in the email.
There's no setting you can adjust to change this that I know of.

  • Find my iPhone - new feature is a failure ??

You may not me able to turn OFF find my iPhone, but you can turn off Location services itself....
Whats the advantage of this feature then ?????

Well, if you properly set Restrictions, that can be protected.

  • Find My iPhone service for Auckland, New Zealand

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is any Apple iPhone user from Auckland, New Zealand? I mean I got some serious question for Find My iPhone service on MobileMe.
The thing is when I inserted Vodafone NZ SIM, the Find my iPhone shows me closer to my location but not accurate, when I actually inserted 2Degrees it shows me way North of my current location approx more than 5KM away and Google Maps the current location is way wrong, it's an urban area anyway. The thing is it actually works really well in Auckland city, so if you lost you phone in an urban area you might as well tries to forget it?
All and all, does Find My iPhone service relies on Telco service?

0_o What about TomTom App compared to TomTom GPS Device? Do they rely on Cell Towers too? I'm sorry this is off topic but TomTom App sure look like a nice addon for my app.
Car navigation apps use only GPS. They have to work in areas with no cell phone coverage. It takes longer to get the initial location, but the GPS is left on, since they are normally getting power from the car. The iPhone's built-in map app just turns on GPS when needed, to save power, so faster startup is important.
And back on topic, let's said if I lost my iPhone and since the signal location is not accurate do I actually lose my iPhone for good?
You can end a message and sound to it, so someone might find and return it. It won't help in the case of a thief, of course.
And since this is no good to me I wonder if MobileMe service is really worth it at all.
It's not worth it for just the Find My iPhone function (unless you frequently misplace things), but if you have a Mac, it's other functions can be worth the cost.

  • Using USA iPhone 4s in New Zealand

    1)  I know from reading a travel book the standard US iPhone will not just work in New Zealand.  We recently upgraded iPhone to 5s  and have a old 4s that will be unlocked from ATT, no current service, we don't mind taking it on a trip, would also be handy as a camera for my wife.  There's no point in our taking our new 5S to New Zealand but I don't know much about iPhones.  Is it possible to buy a chip to make the 4s usable in New Zealand?  We don't plan on calling home or anything, but a phone can be handy for general use in travel.  Is it worth it or is there some better alternative for phone service?  I know in the US it is becoming very difficult to find a payphone anywhere, and here for a 3 week trip I would just recommend somebody buy a $30 no-contract phone with 60 minute/90 day service.
    2) The 4s currently runs iOS6-something.  The phone is an 8GB model so I am highly reluctant to upgrade it to iOS8 because this will only leave 3GB for 3 weeks of photos for her.  Just leave it?

If you get the device unlocked by AT&T, you should be able to use a local SIM in the device. The same would be so for the 5s, just that it would not support  the LTE bands in New Zealand. Unfortunately, to complete the unlock on the device requires a restore as new in iTunes, which will load iOS 8.1.2. Your call on that one.

  • Will an American bought iPhone 4s work just as a New Zealand bought iPhone 4s in New Zealand?

    Hi guys,
so I'm planning to buy an iPhone 4s from http://store.apple.com/us and have it shipped to a relative... then the relative will ship it to me in New Zealand.
my question is regarding the plans or contracts, I've been researching and seen quite a few threads about; "if the iPhone 4 is bought online it might be "unlocked" but it must have a contract" is this true? (keep in mind all posts or threads i have read through during my research are dated at about mid 2011, around July, so iPhone 4s wasn't out.. i cant find any recent news on this)also is a plan and a contract the same thing??
I have asked the relative to buy it and she said "i think all phones over here (USA) need to have a plan".... http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/iphone4s clearly states "Or get iPhone unlocked and contract-free" ... i just wanted to make sure before i make the purchase. if i buy the iphone 4s via the unlocked and contract-free route, is that without a data plan?
    ~ TL;DR ~
is the unlocked iPhone 4s bought directly online at the american apple site "http://store.apple.com/us" definitely contract/plan free and unlocked?
Are a "plan" and a "contract" the same thing?
when i order from america does it have to come with a data plan?

Apple bends over backwards to honor its warranty world-wide, but does reserve the right to refer you to the nation of purchase for warranty service. This is usually done on a product not sold in the nation were you are seeking service. I have seen no one report here in the ASC warranty issues with Apple GMS devices, because they are sold by Apple world-wide. I have seen folks living outside the US report that they were told that warranty coverage for CDMA devices is only available in the US, which is currently the country were those devices are sold and where Apple's supply chain is set up to meet warranty coverage.
However, there are other things to take into consideration when you buy a US iPhone. The price of the iPhone on the Apple US webpage does not include sales tax. That is added to the total at the finalization of the sale. My unlocked iPhone 4S for US$650.00 came to US$705.00 with the sales tax. The iPhones sold in NZ have already passed through customs and have prices adjusted for the import tariffs assessed buy your government. Any iPhone shipped to you from the US is also subject to customs declaration and payment of the same tariffs.

  • "Find my iPhone does not recognize New iPhone 5

I use my AppleID to "Find my iPhone" successfully on iPhone 4, iPhone4S, iPad, iMac. All show up. New iPhone5 iOS 6.0.2 uses same AppleID in the General iCloud settings, Contacts, email, photostream, safari bookmarks, reminders, notes, are all synced fine. I can even see how much storage is available in my iCloud account on the new iPhone5.  The Problem is that "Find my iPhone" does not recognize the new iPhone 5. Yes location services is turned on. The iPhone5 can find its location in the map app, can find all other devices in "Find my iPhone" just not itself in "Find my iPhone" I tried a hard reset.
    ANY IDEAS?

How about when the passcode is correct but not recognized?
I was prompted to enter a password to unlock the device when I downloaded IOS 7 several months ago.
Entered the password every single day for months, never a problem.
Yesterday I attempted to download the most recent IOS version and I was asked for a passcode before I could do that (my phone was unlocked). Online I found out the passcode is the unlocking password. It did not work and I was unable to use the phone for several minutes after 5 attempts. I just stored the phone and when home I charged it overnight.
This morning I unlocked the phone as usual  and used it without a problem for emails, phone calls. etc.. Now, after not having used it for a while, I am asked for the passcode to unlock it as usual, and although I am sure I entered the right code, it is not recognized. I am unable to unlock my phone, although I have done it for months.
This is not a case of forgotten passcode! And I see it has happened to many others that use 4s and 5s iphones.
i could attempt the iTune connection fix, but it troubles me that all solutions are presented for forgotten pascodes, and in many cases actually the passcodes are not recognized. Which means, it will keep happening unless Apple offers a solution.

  • Hi. Im currently living in New Zealand. Just bought an iphone 5s yesterday from a shop called Parallel Brand Imports in Auckland. When i came home i called apple to check whether my phone is locked or not and they said that its locked to US Verizon even t

When i came home i called apple to check whether my phone is locked or not and they said that its locked to US Verizon even though when i checked on iphoneimei it said sim status unknown. I put my 2degrees (NZ carrier) in today and it worked fine. I got into the settings and turned off the automatically part of carrier and there were 3 options for me to choose 2degrees vodafone and telecom. Because of that, im quite confused abt whether my phone is locked or not since im from vietnam so i want to know if i can use vietnamese sim card when i go home. Thanks for your help@verizon

Hi tranvietanh - I appreciate you contacting us all the way from New Zealand! I can confirm that the iPhone 5s and all of our other 4G LTE device are not SIM locked. As the carrier in New Zealand may not support the exact same frequencies and cellular bands that we use on our network, we are unable to support the device if using a 3rd party SIM.
    Thank you,

  • I activated my ipad, used iCloud & Find my iphone with Apple ID named: A@.... But now I've changed address of Apple ID from A@... to the new one: B@... Which Apple ID will be asked to re-activate 7.0.4 ipad - A or B?

    Hello everybody!
I'm using ipad mini and the iOS is 7.0.4. I used an Apple ID (called: A), and I activated my ipad, used iCloud & Find my iphone with this A account. But now I've changed address of Apple ID from A@.... to the new one: B@.... (just changed email address of Apple ID, not create a new ID), and then I signed out iCloud, old Apple ID, etc... on my ipad and signed in with new id B@.... Everythings seem OK, I can sign in/out iCould, turn on/turn off Find my iphone as well with the new one (B@...)
But I still have a question (and still confusing with it): What will happend when I restored my ipad? I mean my iOS is 7, so which Apple ID will be asked to re-activate my ipad after I restore it, old id A@.... (this one cannot be used now) or the new one B@...., please?
Thank you very much for your helpful informations!

If you've succesfully changed the ID for iCloud and Find my phone, it will be your new ID you use if you need to restore it.

  • My new iPad has the wrong iCloud account (restored an old backup from previous iPad). It's pointing to an account that no longer exists and now I can't delete it because I can't log into it. Find my iPhone wants me to log in before deleting the account.

I have an old iPad2, and received a new iPad Air. When I set up the iPad Air, I started as a backup from the iPad2, instead of treating it as a new iPad setup. It also asked if I wanted to set up Find My iPhone and I said yes. Problem is that I also (previously) changed the primary email address on my iCloud account, but never changed the iCloud setup on my iPad. So now the iPad Air has iCloud pointing to the email address as the account name. I want to just delete this account and enter the new email, but Find My iPhone won't let me - it asks for my password first. Problem is, it won't accept the correct password because the primary email has changed.

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • How can I lock out my iCloud? Because of forget my old password and I have do a new Apple ID but when wan to log out my iCloud it call me to logout find my iphone but already forget the password . Have any solution ?

How can I lock out my iCloud?
Because of forget my old password I have create a new Apple ID
But when I wan to log out my iCloud,it call me to logout Find My iPhone.
I had already forget the password that why I create a new Apple ID.
Have any solution for problem like this ?

Apps and Music are not from iCloud. Are from iTunes and App Store.
You can change this from: Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Sign out and sign in with new ID, but you will have to pay again to download apps that you already have in your old account. Or leave it as it is to share purchases with your son.

Try this - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212 - also you can sign into www.icloud.com and remote erase the phone
recovery mode restore as descibed in HT1808 might be  your last resort though

but itunes on my phone has my correct current id and password.  I need to restore my back up from itunes, i did not use icloud.
    Any help please.
I did try yesterday but did not realise at that time that itunes had correct apple id.  Hopefully this is a good thing!

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I have looked at icloud.com/find numerous times and my iPad is not showing at all (see picture below). As I said I did turn off 'Find My iPhone' on my iPad and then erase all settings and data before taking it to the repair centre.
The gentleman at the repair centre said that the device won't restore because "Apple thinks that 'Find My iPhone' is still turned on" (I'm repeating what he said).

  • My iphone 4 was stolen. One week later appears new apple id in find my iphone. Is it from thief? What can I do?

My iphone 4 got stolen two weeks ago. It was off because of down battery therefore i could not track it by app find my iphone but i immediately blocked it and report to police. The remote block of the iphone remained pending for one week (I learnt phone has to be on for such an action to be completed) and then I received email from app find my iphone that my phone was finally blocked. I check in app find my iphone to see if i could located and there the surprise! Instead of MY apple ID appears a new one! Does it mean somebody reset my iphone? What can I do knowing this apple ID? Please help! I forgot unfortunately location service has been disactivated.

Thank you for your reply, I checked the status of my apple id and nothing has changed. My iphone was off when it got stolen and short after I sent remote lock by find my iphone. Maybe somebody connected to itunes and tried to do a set up using his own apple id? I would like to understand what's goin on and if this apple id can lead us to the thieve! Thanks anyway for your help
