Find my iphone not working on 3gs (with a valid account). Please help?

Hi All,
I created a free Mobile Me account with my iPad and enabled 'Find my iPhone' on it. After that, I went to my 3GS and activated 'Find my iPhone' successfully.
The thing is: nothing works with the 3gs. With the iPad, I can lock it, and send messages to it (I didn't try to erase it, for obvious reasons). I cannot send messages to the 3GS and can't lock it, either.
Both devices with the latest iOS version (4.2.1).
I tried erasing all email accounts, and reseting network configuration. Push enabled.
Please help
Thanks

There is a loop hole. Just register your account using the same steps on any iphone4 ipad or itouch 4th gen FIRST then u'll be able to use your account on your 3gs that allows it to track your iphone...up to a max of 3 diff devices. google the other forums, this was what i read from them.

  • Find my iPhone not working

My son's iPhone 4s was locked a few months ago by some friends who were playing a joke on him.  They input the wrong passcode over and over again until it was locked indefinietly.  I had to restore the iPhone using a method I found online and got his phone working again.  I didn't realize it until recently, but his Find My iPhone app no longer works.  It is on and logged in as my Apple ID (although I have to continually put the password in).  Anytime I try to use Find My iPhone to locate his phone, it shows me that his phone is offline.  Even when I open the app on his phone and try to locate his phone, it says it's offline.
I feel that this issue has something to do with the restore that I did.  I don't remember exactly HOW I restored the phone, but know I used iTunes.  I've checked his settings for Location Services and Find My iPhone...All are active and Find My iPhone is active on my sons phone. His phone is also updated to the most recent iOS software. The wierd thing is, I CAN find him or his phone using the Find Friends app.  He has a tendency to misplace his phone in our home and the Find My iPhone app is great because it allows me to send a signal to play a sound to help us locate it.  The Find Friends app doesn't have that capability.  Has anyone else had an issue with Find My iPhone not working after a restore?

Usually Apple recommended the below steps :
Why your iPhone (iPad, or iPod Touch) not appear in Find My iPhone?
    Here are some reasons:
Your iCloud account is not configured on your device. Choose Settings > iCloud and enter your iCloud account information.
Your device is not update. It needs to be running iOS 5 or higher.
The date is incorrect on your device. Choose Settings > General > Date & Time to check and set the date.
Your device has lost network connectivity. If you have access to your device, and it appears to have an active Internet connection, in this case enable and then disable Airplane mode or turn the device off and back on.
Your device appears in Find My iPhone, but is offline, the reasons:
Your device is powered off, such as when the battery has run out.
Your iPhone’s cellular service has been terminated by your wireless service provider.
Your iPod Touch, iPad, or Mac is asleep and not connected to a known Wi-Fi network. The command will be processed when your device is awakened and connected to the Internet.

  • Find my iphone not working on macbook pro

Find My iPhone is working accurately on all my other devices and laptops. However on my MacBook Pro (mid 2012, running current Yosemite 10.10.1) it is not. As you can see from the image below on the MacBook Pro doing an iPhone search produces a confused image of 4x small maps of the same area and places the iPhone nowhere near any of them. Find my iPhone does this on my Macbook Pro (only), no matter which one of my 3 iPhones I try to find. Anyone with any clues on how to fix this? Thanks.

Well, YAY! Browsers can be like that. For the longest time, the only way I could look at my digital paycheck was by going to the site using Safari. Now Firefox will display it, but don't know if that was because of a change in Firefox, or a change on the ADP website....sometimes they just don't play well together.
Glad you are all sorted now!
    Cheers,

  • Find my Iphone not working - says it's off line and it isn't

I'm checking that Find my Iphone is working, and it isn't. It's sitting in fornt of me and it's on line - everything is working fine on my WiFi network and I can surf the web. Location Services is turned on and Find My Iphone is turned on.
But when I log into Icloud on my Mac book Pro, also in front of me, it says my Iphone is offline. What's up? BTW, works fine with my Ipad.

  • Find my iphone not free for 3gs

So even though i have the same iOS4.2 software and apps as an iphone4, I can not use the free Find my iphone app. withour paying $100? Fail apple service is fail.
    Yes, I have iOS4.2
Yes, I downloaded the app and followed the instructions.
I then got a message that my device is not eligible.

And do you think this a fair decision from Apple to make such a discrimination between the iPhone 4 and the 3GS owners... while, technically, the 3GS is able to support the feature?
    Any good reason?
Is it fair to withhold a new feature from iphone 4 if it will not work properly with the other iphone models?
Is it fair to buy a device ( tv, dvd player, computer, phone, anything) and expect that it will always have the same features as the newest devices?
Why would you expect any product to always have the same features of all future products. This is absolutely normal for consumer electronics.
What does fair have to do with anything?

  • Find My iPhone not working - MobileMe message: No Location Available

Hi Guys, I'm upgraded to iOS 4.3.1 and the Find My iPhone feature is not working. My MobileMe account picks up the iPhone but says: No Location Available. Even though I can pick up my location on Google Maps/Facebook/Camera/Google without any problems on my iPhone. I installed the Find My iPhone app on my iphone and the same thing happens, picks up the phone but give a message: No Location Available. I tried on 3G/Wifi still
Time Zone = Johannesburg, South Africa
    MobileMe Push is enabled
Is anyone else experiencing problems with Find My iPhone?

i had all the same problems as everyone. then I tried powering down the ipad (even when I bought it, it was in sleep mode so it had never been off). to power down, To turn off the iPad, locate the hold button on top of the iPad, at its right side. This is a physical button, not an onscreen one. Press the hold button for a few seconds, until a slider appears at the top of the screen that says "slide to power off."
To turn the iPad off, move the slider from left to right. If you don't want to shut it down, tap the "cancel" button at the bottom of the screen.
After I turned it back on (by pressing and holding the same button), it worked!

  • Find my iphone not working properly

Does anyone know if the Find My Iphone service is currently not working? I have it installed on my ipod at a home location and my daughter has taken a spring break trip and I am using it as a safety backup well, just in case (it is spring break after all, and shes 20 hours from home). Around 3 hours after starting her trip it stopped tracking, and hasn't picked up a signal yet (It's been 14 hours) What's strange is it's also having trouble locating my other devices that are sitting right next to me (locations are 30 minutes to an hour old). She has location services on (when she tweets it has a location) but find my iphone cannot track. This is really worrisome because lets face it what's the point of having a feature if it doesn't work properly.

Find My iPhone with an iPod Touch requires the iPod being connected to an available wi-fi network.
I just tried the Find My iPhone app on my personal iPhone 5S and it successfully located my MacBook Pro and iPad 2 connected to my wi-fi network at home and my business iPhone 5 connected to T-Mobile's cellular network.

  • Find my iPhone not working correctly

I've used Find My iPhone successfully in the past, most recently about a month or two ago. But last night, I misplaced my iPod Touch 3G in my home. I went to icloud.com, signed on, and wanted to play a sound to locate my Touch, but the device page said my Touch was Offline.  The All Devices page says "No Location Available. None of your devices can be located."
Eventually I found my Touch the old-fashioned way and was surprised to find that Wi-fi, Location Services, and iCloud services were all on and working properly. I tested syncing Reminders with iCloud to make sure, and it's working perfectly.
What I tried to get it to work:
    Reset network settings
Turning off and on Wi-Fi, location services, and iCloud services
    Rebooting device several times
I have not made any changes to iOS, my icloud.com settings, or any iOS accounts in recent months. No passwords have been changed (and besides, iCloud is otherwise working normally).
Anyone have an idea what could be wrong?
I realize setting up my Touch from scratch is always an option to try but that would take at least an entire day to do. That is only a last resort option that I am avoiding at all costs right now.
Any suggestions are welcome. I am really stumped and would like to get Find my iPhone working again. It is an essential feature.

Same problem here.  Reading through the forums but not finding anything other than a bunch of people with the same problem.  I believe I've checked and double-checked all appropriate settings and they are correct (the iOS7 upgrade seems to have turned off location settings, but I turned it back on).  Yet the iPhone 5 with iOS7 stubbornly now shows as "Offline" ... when it is not.
    C'mon, Apple, what's the fix?

  • Lost iphone 5 find my iphone not working

Lost my iphone 5 . Find my iphone enabled but it will not show it's last location !!!!!!

IF the last location was where you lost it, and someone powered it off there, that wouldn't really help you in recovering it, but I understand your frustration. Did you have a passcode on the device? You show having iOS 7 and if that is the case, they will not be able to activate the device. If you send a Lost command, you will get an email when they turn the device on to try and restore and activate it. That could help you, but if you suspend the account with your carrier, it will disable cell service. It would only work it they try on wifi. However, with Activation Lock, they will not be able to activate it anyway.

  • 5c Find My iPhone Not Working on Kids Phone

I purchased two iphone 5c's, one for each of my children.  All of them have been parental locked, with application installation and safari blocked.  Find my iphone has been turned on, then locked on with parental controls.  Data is limited to 500 mb per month by verizon.
My son's device works perfectly when I use the "find my iphone" application on icloud.com.
However, my enterprising 15 year old daughter's phone only seems to show up in "Find My iphone" when she is at the house, and even then it is spotty.  For example, today I logged in (8:20 cst) to find her phone, it has a grey circle that says "last location yesterday at 5:18".  Most of the time when I check, it says "phone unavailable"....yet I will text her, and she'll text me back.
She called me this morning, and while I was on the phone with her, I logged into iCloud...same deal, it couldn't find a current position.  So, I know at least that the mobile network was turned on.
I won't get into the reasons to need to track her phone, but I'll just summarize by saying that it's not to just be an overbearing parent.  She has impulse control issues which have placed her life in danger several times.
She is doing something that is shutting the tracking down.  Any ideas?
    Would changing date/time do anything?
    What about turning off wifi?
What about turning off mobile data?
Could she have installed an app to block find my iphone? (this only could have occurred on one of the few occasions when I had allowed installation of programs.)
She is extremely bright, and has found something or been told something by a friend.
    Please help!

I tired iPusher from AppStore and I am not getting an Push Notification.

Yes. It says following. I have taken care of all points except last one. "You are located in a country where Apple does not offer this feature. This feature may not be available in all countries due to technical limitations or local law." Apple india site clearly features Find My iPhone on iCloud, so I assume it is supported in India.
"No location available," "Offline," or "Location Services Off" alerts
    This can occur if:
The date on your device is incorrect. This can be set in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Your iOS device is currently off or not connected to a data network (Edge, 3 or 4G, or Wi-Fi). Wait a few minutes and try again.
Your iPad (Wi-Fi only), iPod Touch, or Mac is currently off or not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Location Services is not enabled on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch in Settings or on your Mac in Date & Time preferences. Learn more about Location Services on your Mac with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion.

  • "Find my iPhone" not working completely

FMI will neither locate my phone, nor display messages. I have verified the following:
    - the option appears in my MobileMe account settings online
    - it's registered, as it is displayed on the page with a green indicator and says "Online"
    - iPhone is connected to a 3G network
    - Find My iPhone is ON in preferences
    - Location Services is also ON
But when I check online on me.com/account, it tries to locate then gives up and shows "Location is not available"
Also, I've tried 3 times to display a message on my iPhone but they never arrive.
IS this service indeed available in Canada? (I'm with Rogers)

I've moved this to the proper mobileme forum:

  • Find my iPhone not working for family sharing devices

Set up family sharing correctly in Settings, but only see my iPad and my iPhone in Find my Iphone. Family members devices are not viewable in Find my iphone, even though they are set up in Settings

HI, I am having the exact same problem.  I was finally able to get my phone to show up on my daughter's by following your steps ( I will probably deactivate), however I still cannot get her phone to display on mine, which is my obvious goal.  The advanced/Share Locations settings on her phone are greyed out and I'm unable to select them. All other iCloud, location, find my phone settings are activated.  I am still using my iTunes account on her phone, as I want control over any type of purchase she tries to make, however I had to make her her own iCloud account to get Findmy phone to recognize her phone.  I don't know if this matters??  Sorry for the long explanation, but basically, my phone recognizes hers via Find my phone, but it tells me she is "online and not sharing location"  Can't figure out how to resolve this.  Suggestions?
    Thanks
