Find my iphone still on old macbook

I sold my old MacBook.  I used the disk that cam with it to reinstall everything back to the original factory settings.  However somehow this computer still shows up in my "Find my iPhone".  I never typed in my icloud password after the installation.  How can that be? I don't want them to have access to my icloud information. I reset my password but still can't remove it.  The website says I have to remote erase their computer to break the tie. That sounds kind of ridiculous.  Do I have any other options?

If you're using iOS 7 or later and have Find My iPhone turned on, your Apple ID and password will be required. After you provide your password, the device will be erased and removed from your account so that the next owner can activate it.

  • Question Regarding "Find My iPhone" App (Used On Macbook Pro)

    Here's what I lost:
    - iPod Touch 8BG (I got the iPod in August of 2009)
    - The iPod SHOULD be in my house.
Here's what I'm trying to find my iPod with:
    - "Find My iPhone" App on iTunes
    - MacBook Pro (Mac OS X Version 10.5.8) My laptop was also purchased in August of 2009, and my software is up to date.
Here's my main question: Is it possible to use the "Find My iPhone" App on my computer to help me find my missing iPod if I DO NOT have the "Find My iPhone" App on my iPod? I would assume that the answer to my question would be "no", but I'm not very familiar with apps.

You need to pay to update the OSX on your Mac.
    Mountain Lion (OSX 10.7.x) requires
    General Requirements
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
    Supported Models
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Also since you said you have iPod Touch 8BG (I got the iPod in August of 2009), that iPod is a 2G iPod touch that does not Support iCloud. However, if you previously subscribed to the paid MobileMe you might be able to find it but since you can;t log into iCloud you can't do that.
Sorry but you are out of luck finding your 2G iPod except the old fashioned way, lokk for it,.

I have activated iCloud on iPad2 and iPhone4S (both on iOS 7) using the same Apple ID and signed into 'Find my iPhone' still my iphone is not visible in my devices. I can only see my iPad.

On your iPhone, try toggling Find My iPhone off, then back on after a few seconds.

I have changed my apple id, and its ok when i sync my Iphone with Itunes, but ON my Iphone still my old apple-ID is there. I can NOT buy things from Itunes or Upgrade anything now, how to fix this?

I recently changed my email address and want to change my Apple ID account to match. I have created a new Apple ID to match the new account but now I can't sign into iCloud on our phones or computer with the old Apple ID. I can't make any changes on iCloud on our phones because it directs me to the old account, which I can't sign into. I also can't sign me in on my computer to make any changes. Help!!! Now I have two addresses and can't access the one that directly affects my devices.

Tried to upgrade os4 to os7 but could not due to "find my iphone" still turned on.
Could not turn it off at that stage so set up as new iphone.  Now icloud will only accept past id email address and password which i no longer have,
but itunes on my phone has my correct current id and password.  I need to restore my back up from itunes, i did not use icloud.
    Any help please.
I did try yesterday but did not realise at that time that itunes had correct apple id.  Hopefully this is a good thing!

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I have looked at icloud.com/find numerous times and my iPad is not showing at all (see picture below). As I said I did turn off 'Find My iPhone' on my iPad and then erase all settings and data before taking it to the repair centre.
The gentleman at the repair centre said that the device won't restore because "Apple thinks that 'Find My iPhone' is still turned on" (I'm repeating what he said).

  • When Location Services are turned off, does Find My iPhone still count as turned on?

Let's say I use iCloud, so I turned on Find My iPhone.
But, I like to save battery, so I turn Location Services off while Find My iPhone is enabled, and I understand completely that if Lost Mode is enabled, then Location Services are turned on and enable Find My iPhone.
    Scenario:
I go traveling. I lose my phone. It gets stolen. Location Services were turned off (I like to save battery). If the thief were to try to restore the phone, would he/she get a message saying "Find My iPhone is enabled. Please turn it off before restoring this iPhone."? OR, since Location Services are off, would the restore go on ahead without any confirmation?
This scenario is assuming I don't activate Lost Mode before the thief can plug the device into his/her computer and attempt a restore.
So when Location Services with Find My iPhone enabled are turned OFF, would Find My iPhone still be considered ON and therefore, give a confirmation message before any restoration?
I just want to verify that I'm still secure even when I turn off Location Services to save battery.
    Thanks for reading!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
        1.    Sign in to their iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
        2.    Select the device from their Find My iPhone device list by clicking All Devices at the top of the screen.
        3.    Erase the device by clicking the Erase button. This will erase all content and settings from the device. When prompted, do not enter a phone number or message. Click Next until the device is erased.
        4.    When the erase is complete, click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from the account.

  • If I block safari will find my iphone still work

If I block safari app on iPhone 5c will FIND MY IPHONE Still work?

Yes, blocking all data would prove to be a problem for Find My iPhone, and it would only work when connected to wi-fi. Also, you could not block other internet browsers, except you could block the installation of other apps. You could restrict Safari and the installation of apps, which would prevent using Safari and installating other web browsers, and that should still allow cellular data for Find My iPhone. You would also have to look at any other data using apps, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. that would user Internet if you were to see about not using Smart Limits. That is a hard call to make.

  • Mobileme is dead.  Will find my iPhone still work?

mobileme is dead.  Will find my "Find my iPhone" still work much longer?
It seems to for now, but did Apple mention a replacement for "Find my iPhone" without mobileme?
    -Apple 2GS

MobileMe is NOT dead - where did you get that idea?  iCloud will eventually replace MobileMe, but it's still in beta and there will be MANY announcements about the transition before it occurs.  Right now, iCloud also provides Find My Phone,  but I wouldn't rely on it as it's still beta code.

  • TS4006 I lost my iphone in Guatemala City and just downloaded the Find My iPhone app to my MacBook Pro. How do I launch the app & locate my phone?

I lost my iphone in Guatemala City and just downloaded the Find My iPhone app to my MacBook Pro. How do I launch the app & locate my phone?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)

  • If I change my Apple password as a security precaution because my phone has been lost and switched off, will Find My iPhone still function? That is, will it be able to connect to iCloud, as the password on the phone is still the old one.

My phone is lost – not stolen, and may still be returned. Not long after I lost it, it was switched off, or died (it was at about 6%), so I can't find it using Find My iPhone. I realized I should change all my important passwords, as the passcode can be compromised by various methods. One password I changed was for my Apple account.
Now I'm realizing that I shouldn't have done that. What if the phone comes back online – but my AppleID password has changed; will the phone still be able to connect to Apple with the old credentials so my message is sent?
When I realized this I tried to go back to my old password – but Apple won't let me use one I used in the last year. Any way around this?

when you change your Apple iD it's pretty much changing the visual email, i guess that doesn't really answer your question, yes you keep your purchases, it just changes the log-in email and email where newsletters , etc. go to.

  • How to delete icloud and still use find my iphone and delete old purchases

    hi everyone,
i want to get rid of my i cloud accout as i think i use nothing on it.
    how do i do this?
if i delete it can i use find my iphone?
    also in itunes, purchases,app

    any help will be great.
im not very good with itunes or computers so please explain it to me in very easy terms
    Cheers guys

Find My iPhone REQUIRES an iCloud account.
iTunes purchases are permanently tied to the Apple ID (which is typically also the iCloud account) that they were acquired with.
The iCloud account is used on a daily basis by anyone with an iPhone.
iCloud accounts, which are Apple IDs, cannot be deleted.

  • How can I install "Find my iPhone" on an old iPad 3?

I've recently gotten a new iPad, but my old iPad 3 is still working fine. So I've done a complete wipe on it and I've given it to a friend who has little interest in computing: she just wants to email and get on the internet. My friend will have to undergo surgery next week and will take the iPad 3 with her to the hospital -- she'll be in the hospital for a week or two. Before she went, I wanted to install 'Find my iPhone' on the iPad 3 in case it goes walkabout in the hospital.
However, when I tried to install it, AppStore insisted I upgrade to iOS 8, which I don't think the iPad 3 can pull off. I once upgraded to to iOS 5 or 6 and regretted that real soon -- the iPad 3 just doesn't have the processor speed to handle all that advanced stuff. It's doing fine on iOS 4 and I want to keep it that way. Is there some way to make AppStore install the old 'Find my iPhone'? I still have some backups of the iPad 3 pre-wipe -- could I extract 'Find my iPhone' from there and put it back on the iPad 3 without doing a full restore? Is there some other way we can keep track of the iPad 3 without updating?

If you have iOS 4.3 on it then it's not an iPad 3 (they were initially launched with iOS 5.1 installed on them), it's either a first gen iPad (if it doesn't have cameras), or a 2nd gen : Identify your iPad model - Apple Support.
The Find My iPhone app is used to try and locate other devices from it, it won't help you locate that iPad if it's lost. To be able to potentially locate and track that iPad you need Settings > iCloud > Find My iPad 'on' on it, but iCloud only became available with iOS 5 (so you won't have the setting on iOS 4.3). You will need to update the iPad (you can only update a device to the highest iOS version that it supports i.e. 5.1.1 for the first gen iPad, 8.1.3 for other iPads) if you want to be able to enable it
