"Find my iPod" doesn't

Hi all,
Just for the heck of it, I tried to "Find my iPod" even though it's sitting right here.  http:/https://www.icloud.com/#find  My MacBook Pro says that my iPod is offline (not true) and that it can't find it.  Hmmmm.  It's connected to wi-fi, iCloud knows that it's mine, and I've turned all the "Find my iPod" stuff on on both the device and my laptop.  Any idea why it might not be working?
Thanks.

Try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
That solved the location problem for my iPad

  • Find my iPod Touch / MobileMe and Firewall settings

How can I configure my firewall to allow "Find my iPod" / MobileMe to to work from my home network?
"Find my iPod" doesn't find my iPod when I'm connected to my home network (I have a Verizon DSL connection, with a Westell router).
Everything else works, browsing the Internet, and the "Maps" app displays my location correctly.
However, on MobileMe, I get the "No location available" message and can't send a message or make the iPod beep either.
It works from other locations, but I was not able to find any documentation on some specific setting (firewall?) I'd have to change to enable it.
I do not want to completely disable the firewall on the router.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

Since itunes 2.0.4 has been downloaded my ipod doesn't synchronize properly/ at all. The LED screen shows çopying 1 or 2 from 101' and itt will remain like that.
It looks like sync but nothing is happening. The sync doesn't stop by itself. Is there anybody to solve this problem? In previous versions never a problem.

I have exactly the same issues with my new 80G iPOD. I have found that when connecting to my PC, the iPOD does not start iTUNES 7. This can be resolved by stopping the iPOD Service in Computer Management, connecting the iPOD and then starting it again. Then when you start iTUNES it finds the iPOD. - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
Seems like a stupid long-winded way to do things, but at least you can get some stuff on to your iPOD.
As far as using Restore goes - I just get the restoring iPOD message you described, which it blatantly isn't :((

  • Ipod doesn't show in itunes, vista installed, also, thinks it's syncing...

I really don't know what to put for a subject! Itunes and my ipod shuffle ran perfectly under Windows XP. I have a LOT of music successfully loaded (from itunes purchases and my own cds) on the 'pod. It plays fine. Problem is, computer bit the dust. I decided to upgrade to Vista instead of reloading XP (couldn't find the **** CDs to reinstall XP). Now, my ipod doesn't show up in itunes and I get that **** "ipod is synced with another library.. do you want to erase this ipod and sync with "this" itunes lib." box. "This" itunes library consists only of songs I've purchased from itunes.... none of the cd music is there. and the only option that itunes seems to be giving me is to blow away what's on my 'pod now and install the tiny library of itunes purchases. The wierd thing is, it's all on the same **** computer... just the OS changed (from XP to Vista).
What I WAMT to do is somehow get itunes to see my 'pod and copy the music that's on my pod back into itunes where it all came from in the first place and put my latest itunes purchases (since changing OS's) on my 'pod. Jeeze. sounds so simple. Unbelieveable.
    tk
    TIA for any help.
HP Pavilion 523n   Other OS   running Vista

In iTunes, go to the File Menu and select the 'Add to Library' option.
In the window that appears navigate to the folder that has all the music from the old version of iTunes (i.e. where the music is currently stored on your computer), and select the folder.
This should then add all the music back into your iTunes (it may make a copy)
You will now be able to connect your iPod and let it sync to the computer.

  • How does Find My iPod work..

If Find My iPod needs a Wifi connection to work, how will it be able to be locked/wiped/tracked if it doesn't have a internet connection. And iPods don't automatically connect to wifi connections. Whats the point of it.
My iPod was stolen and I'm thinking about all these stuff.

    Sorry about the loss...
This is meant for devices which are on network (wifi or GPS/3G). If the device is stolen and wiped, or is out of internet access range (wifi or 3G), then there is no phone in the world to find. Not only iPhone or Touch...
It is a great service for situations when you forget your Touch in the car or at your friends house. As long as it has Wifi and battery charge and the Find feature is turned on, you should find it.
Thieves obviously know all this, so wiping it is the first thing, they'd do.....

  • TA44551 my gen 4 iPod doesn't charge, the usb cable is good(works on other apple products) What should i do?

my gen 4 iPod doesn't charge, the usb cable is good(works on other apple products) What should i do?

What normally happens is most people take showers and listen to thier ipods or live around many sources of humidity.  Moisture corrodes the 30 pin connector on the ipod touch.  Clean and inspect the ipod touch's connection pins to resolve most charging/ sync issues.. The pins could also be dirty, bent or broken.  If dirty: Take 91% rubbing alcohol, dip a tooth brush into it, shake the excessive alcohol off leaving the brush damp(don't use to much alcohol, it should not be dripping).  Careful!!! The Pins are Very Fragile! Gently brush the connector pins, long ways, left to right in a few second bursts, inspecting the pins as you go...   If you have an eye loop or magnifying glass you can see inside the connector easily and see if the pins look dirty or bent or broken.  If they are bent you have to VERY GENTLY stand them back up.  If they are bent very far down, chances are you will snap them off trying to straighten them back up.  If they are not severely bent over, use a very small flat head precision screw driver to bend the pin back parallel with the good pins.  Pease note: certain pins are used by the wire for different things such as sync or charging... If your pins are broken off, do a search and find out what the individual pins on the ipod 30 pin connector do to see what is affected.  Worst case is your pins are broken off.  U can attempt to solder the broken pins back on without opening the ipod touch, which is super difficult to do, or you can open the touch and repair/replace to 30 pin connector entirely.  U will need to do some micro soldering to say to least! Don't attempt unless you are confident in your soldering skills and research how to open an ipod touch? You will need some specific tools and watch out for floating LINT!  Get some canned air ;) use a small 1/2 second bursts from 4-6" away because it will steam up you touch if used for to long. Good luck!

  • Please help me out! my ipod doesn't show any thing in my screen.

please help me out! my ipod doesn't show any thing in my screen. please can someone helphelp me please T^T.
or could someone teach me to open a ipod photo on. i want to check inside is it find?

Try resetting it. If that doesn't help, try restoring it.
There are no user serviceable parts inside an iPod, and opening it will void the warranty.

  • IPod doesn't work

I paid and downloaded the 2.0 update, but when I try to install it makes it to backing up iPod then I get error 1602 and it cancels. My iPod touch becomes unuseable all it shows is the connect to itunes symbol, but itunes can't find my ipod and it doesn't work. I paid $10 for the update and I'm sitting here with an unupdated iPod that can't do anything.
Anyone else have this problem or knows how to fix it?

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I have tried resetting my iPod, restarting the computer, redownloading iTunes, charging my iPod. I dont know what to do. It wont show up on my computer either.
Made an appointment for the apple store tomorrow.
but if someone could help me on here it would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks!

  • IPod doesn't appear in iTunes and Windows

I have a next problem with connecting nano with Windows:
iPod doesn't appear in iTunes: iTunes 7 diagnostic write that host-controller of bus IEEE 1394 was not found.
Sometimes Windows see the demountable disk, but can't open it. Occasionally, when i charge nano, iTunes gives out the message, that iPod is damaged.
After connecting iPod to the computer, it shows the "Do not disconnect" screen, which not disappear after nano disconnecting. And I need reset iPod everytime after charging.
    Does any help me?

    I read this article.
I can't restore iPod because iPod Updater can't recognize it, when one connect to the computer.
How to solve the problem: as i wrote, iTunes diagnostic informs that can't find the controller IEEE 1394 (WiFi), but I HAVEN'T WiFi card on computer, I use USB 2.0.

  • My ipod doesn´t charge the battery with ios6, what should i do?

I have updated the system to ios 6, but after that change I have noted that my ipod doesn´t charge the battety, I have checked the cable with other ipod (ios5) and it´s working, also when I connect it to my computer, it can´t be detected, what should i do? I can´t find how to solve it.. please help me

    See the not-charging topic of:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.

  • I don´t find my iPod Touch, and I don´t have the iCloud thing, what should I do to find it?' =/

Hey! My iPod is lost =( The caractheristics of it are: black iPod, blue case, and the home button doesn´t work, please, if you have it, please tell me

    Hi Cynthia,
If you did not have Find My iPod enabled, and you do not have iCloud, then you cannot track it. You can report it to the police, you should change your AppleID password, and then all you can do is old fashioned detective work - start with the last place you remember having it, and check every place in between that point and now....
Sorry you lost your iPod - hope you find it!
    Cheers,

  • Find my iPod and secure Wi-Fi

I've looked, but can't seem to find the answer to this question. Does anyone know if Find My iPod will work on a secured Wi-Fi source? Example, someone finds my iPod and takes it home where (s)he has an active, but password protected, Wi-Fi router. My iPod will locate the network but won't have the password to connect to it. In that scenario will I be able to locate and send a message to my iPod using Find My iPod?

OK. I figured out how to test this at home. My desktop computer has a hardwire connection to the router. So I shut off the wifi broadcasting in the router. My iPod no longer connected to my network, but it did show another password secured network with excellent strength. Using my desktop, I sent out a Find My iPod message. The iPod could not be located.
This means that Find My iPod will only work under the limited circumstances that it is lost at (or taken to) a place with free unsecured wifi or if the finder/thief manages to crack my iPod password, puts his router's password on my iPod and doesn't turn off the Find My iPod function, a very doubtful scenario.
So essentially on an iPod, Find My iPod is a pretty useless tool (except, by beeping, to find it where you left it in your own house).
