Find out if my 320kpbs rips are authentic or 128kbps converts?

Before I really knew about music quality, I would rip all my CDs at 128kbps mp3 because I thought that was the future. A few years ago, it was evident that devices have a lot more space now. I foolishly converted all of my 128kbps CD rips to 320kbps (or something 256 AAC).
I have also imported my iTunes library from a Windows at one point, so I lost all "date added" stats.
How do I figure out which songs are genuine 320kbps, and which ones are rips from 128kbps to 320kbps but just take up extra space?
Is there software for the Mac that will tell me this?
(I'd probably either re-rip those songs if I can still find the CD, or just iTunes Store 'em.)

Maybe a good set of headphones is cheaper to start with? brands like Sennheiser sell decent headphones for affordable prices.
Spectral analysis is a visual solution, as Ninmage621 mentioned.
He explained it wel: you can easily see the line where the high frequencies were cut off.
The more data compression was applied, the more reduction of the frequency spectrum.
I never used audacity, but most decent audio DAW software have some kind of spectral analysis built in, I'm used to Logic Pro. I guess audacity is ok for this goal.
But once again: this is a LOT of work. Opening each individual file with audacity is timeconsuming.
Don't know how much music you have. Also it's probably sufficient to open one track per album and safely assume that the rest of the album is the same quality. But still. I wish you good luck & a lot of patience ;-)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.

How do I find out what the price thresholds are before royalties are paid to the author?

If you sign in to iTunesConnect and look through the Contact Us questions, one of them says:
"Payments are made within 45 days of calendar month end if both of the following conditions are met:
All documentation is complete, including any required banking and tax information.
The payment threshold of USD $150 has been exceeded.
If you have not received a payment for a given month within 45 days after the end of the month, please confirm that all documentation has been completed and provided. Also, please confirm that the cumulative amount owed exceeds USD $150 by converting reported amounts using current exchange rates."
I should say though I seem to get paid without reaching this threshold.

How to find out the FICO user exits that are used by user.

Go to tcode CMOD. In the project field drop down your list there. Put a Z* there and run the list. These should be all the exits that are activated. Search for the ones that pertain to FI. You can also search by development class. You need a little ABAP knowledge to search easily. You get this by going to the tcode then to status then to the program then to the attributes. There you find the development class. Ie FBAS.

I don't think there any such option available OOTB, however you can use PowerShell to get such information e.g.
    $web = Get-SPWeb http://localhost
    $f = $web.Lists["Contact"].Fields["Customer"]
    $f.ListsFieldUsedIn()
    $web.Dispose()
    Check this link: http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/45574/is-a-list-being-used-as-a-lookup-for-some-web-part-in-the-site-collection

    Hello Vijay,
On MSSQL truncation of transaction log does not shrink the size of the transaction log. It simply removes the content within the transaction log and writes it to the backup.
Meaning the free percentage within the transaction log will increase.
If you want to Resize the transaction log size, you need to do something else.

  • How to find out how much space apps are taking

i don't know when this happened but i'm using about 85gb of my 250gb hard drive, when it used to be around 50gb. so i was wondering why when i look at itunes music it shows how much space it's taking the bottom, but if i go to the app section of itunes it only shows '198 apps', but not how much space it's taking? do the apps that i have in itunes take up space on my hard drive and how do i find out how much? also i see in finder that i have some previous itunes libraries, is it safe to delete these, some are from 2008. thanks for any help.

No. It does not do that.
Just about anything from your Home directory where your files are kept can be deleted or moved.
Outside of the Home directory you have to be careful since you don't want to destroy your system.
If you have large folders or files outside of your Home directory, please ask first before moving or deleting.

I got the hard drive upgrade kit and now have the old drive in the On-The-Go-Pro external enclosure and the new drive in the Macbook Pro. I booted from the old drive and now I'm ready to restore to the new drive using Disk Utility but I'm not sure exactly what to select as the Source and Destination.
Three disks are listed in the left frame. The new Samsung disk, the old drive in the OTGPro external enclosure with a volume called "Macintosh HD" and something called "disk 2" with a volume of Mac OS X Base System under it.
I think I should select "Macintosh HD" as the source and the Samsung Drive as the destination. But I'm not certain.
What's the correct source and destination?

  • How to find out whether the transaction logs are being truncated or not

    Hi,
We are using Veritas Backup tool for Backups and restores on our MS SQL 2000.
One of our Veritas Tech has disabled the Truncation of Transaction Log Backup using the Job setup in Veritas. We want to confirm whether the Truncation is happening or not. I don't see any difference in the Transaction Log file size.
How to find out whether truncation is active or not?

  • My MBA is full, and cannot find out where the unidentified photos are.

"About this Mac" says I have 89GB of photos saved. When I check my iPhoto, it only has 36GB of photos. My SSD is full, so I need to find out where the rest of 53GB of photos are. Can someone help?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • How do I find out what Quicktime part numbers are?

I recently found some old emails from when I purchased Quicktime Pro. They do not show what versions they are for and I'd like to find out. All the give me is the part number, product name and my product key. All the product name says is "QuickTime Pro for Windows". I've got 2 messages with 2 different part numbers. They are:
    Part Number: D1585LL/A and
    Part Number: D2092Z/A
Can someone tell me what versions of Quicktime Pro these part numbers are for? Even though they're older versions I'd still like to know since I paid for them.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If it helps, the emails are dated 03/2002 and 08/2003.
That does help ... the current version of QuickTime in 2002 was either 5.x or 6.x, and in 2003 the current version of QuickTime is 6.x (we don't get 7.x until 2005):
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QuickTimeversionhistory#History
So I'm afraid those keys aren't going to work for a 7.x.

  • Can I find out what the New Features are for Updates?

When the Application Manager says an Update is available, as far as I can see so far, it just says New Features.  Is there a web page that will give more details about what features etc. each update will provide?  The Application Manager is not showing file sizes AFAICT, and that's a consideration regards timing when you live in rural New Zealand.
Ahhhhh... hang on a moment.  Just remembered that I had to download the Photoshop CS6 update manually after a U44M1P7 error, and I still have that page marked:
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
But what about a nice friendly blog page?  Anything like that out there?

Most updates are briefly described in the Cloud blog
