Find & Replace Item in BOM

We have to update a child item that appears in many different BOM.  Is there a way to locate the child item in all BOM's?  Also, is there  a way to locate/find and replace the child or update its qty as in this instance?  I am not comfortable writting querys yet...any ideas would be extremely helpful!
Thank you ,
Andrew

  • Find / replace multiple items in one query

    Hello,
    I need to find and replace several bits of code in dozens of
    files in Dreamweaver CS3. I know how to find/replace for one item
    at a time using regular expressions. Is there a way to find and
    replace more than one item at at time with regular expressions? I
    know I can save and then load previous searches, but that's
    tedious. I'd like to load and then execute more
    Thanks very much for any advice.

    This is in fact the only solution I found to this problem.
    Creating an extension is not that difficult once you have the right
    reference material.
    Have a look at:
    DW API function to find and replace

    As far as i know, no it's not possible.
    There has been mentions in the past to this question that a
    series of
    find/replace queries could be built as a dw extension instead
    of a saved
    search query.

    Heya,
    Most Abap Programmers write their own program to quickly allow them to search along a bom. It's quite easy to do and will teach you a lot about tree searching and boms!
    As I'm feeling kind :o) and to give you a kick start, have a look at function module 'CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2' and then mess about with what it returns.
    Good luck

  • Class Item in BOM

    I'm using Class Item (Item Cat: K) in my BOM, and I have doubts in the followings:
    1. Can a class item be replaced by more than one material?
    2. When I enter the characteristics in the header material, if there are more than one materials suits that, the system always pick the first one. Can I do the setting like: the system would prompt for user to choose among those suitable materials?
    Pls kindly give some lights on that. Thank you.
    Ken

    Let me mention my situation in details:
    Characteristic: ProductCat
    Possible value:  A / B
    Class: Class200
    only one characteristic ProductCat assigned
    Three material assigned to Class200
    SubItem1         (ProductCat = A)
    SubItem2         (ProductCat = A)
    SubItem3         (ProductCat = B)
    BOM:
    MainItem
    -- Class Item K  Class200
    When I explode in t-code CU50,
    Enter ProductCat B in MainItem, SubItem 3 is chosen.
    Enter ProdcutCat A in MainItem, SubItem 1 is chosen. (Why not SubItem2 ???)
    I can use "Find Object" button, then "Find in initial class" to choose SubItem2. The SubItem1 is then replaced by SubItem2. That's what I need.
    Can I do the same when creating QT in VA21?
    During the item cat BOM explosion in VA21, SubItem1 is always selected. I want to let user to choose SubItem2.
    Pls give me some advice. Thanks a lot!

  • Find & replace part of a string in Numbers using do shell script in AppleScript

    Hello,
    I would like to set a search-pattern with a wildcard in Applescript to find - for example - the pattern 'Table 1::$*$4' for use in a 'Search & Replace script'
    The dollar signs '$' seem to be a bit of problem (refers to fixed values in Numbers & to variables in Shell ...)
    Could anyone hand me a solution to this problem?
    The end-goal - for now - would be to change the reference to a row-number in a lot of cells (number '4' in the pattern above should finally be replaced by 5, 6, 7, ...)
    Thx.

    Hi,
    Here's how to do that:
    try
        tell application "Numbers" to tell front document to tell active sheet
            tell (first table whose selection range's class is range)
                set sr to selection range
                set f to text returned of (display dialog "Find this in selected cells in Numbers " default answer "" with title "Find-Replace Step 1" buttons {"Cancel", "Next"})
                if f = "" then return
                set r to text returned of (display dialog "Replace '" & f & "' with " default answer f with title "Find-Replace Step 2")
                set {f, r} to my escapeForSED(f, r) -- escape some chars, create back reference for sed
                set tc to count cells of sr
                tell sr to repeat with i from 1 to tc
                    tell (cell i) to try
                        set oVal to formula
                        if oVal is not missing value then set value to (my find_replace(oVal, f, r))
                    end try
                end repeat
            end tell
        end tell
    on error number n
        if n = -128 then return
        display dialog "Did you select cells?" buttons {"cancel"} with title "Oops!"
    end try
    on find_replace(t, f, r)
        do shell script "/usr/bin/sed 's~" & f & "~" & r & "~g' <<< " & (quoted form of t)
    end find_replace
    on escapeForSED(f, r)
        set tid to text item delimiters
        set text item delimiters to "*" -- the wildcard
        set tc1 to count (text items of f)
        set tc2 to count (text items of r)
        set text item delimiters to tid
        if (tc1 - tc2) < 0 then
            display alert "The number of wildcard in the replacement string must be equal or less than the number of wildcard in the search string."
            error -128
        end if
        -- escape search string, and create back reference for each wildcard (the wildcard is a dot in sed) --> \\(.\\)
        set f to do shell script "/usr/bin/sed -e 's/[]~$.^|[]/\\\\&/g;s/\\*/\\\\(.\\\\)/g' <<<" & quoted form of f
        -- escape the replacement string, Perl replace wildcard by two backslash and an incremented integer, to get  the back reference --> \\1 \\2
        return {f, (do shell script "/usr/bin/sed -e 's/[]~$.^|[]/\\\\&/g' | /usr/bin/perl -pe '$n=1;s/\\*/\"\\\\\" . $n++/ge'<<<" & (quoted form of r))}
    end escapeForSED
    For what you want to do, you must have the wildcard in the same position in both string. --> find "Table 1::$*$3", replace "Table 1::$*$4"
    Important, you can use no wildcard in both (the search string and the replacement string) or you can use any wildcard in the search string with no wildcard in the replacement string).
    But, the number of wildcard in the replacement string must be equal or less than the number of wildcard in the search string.

  • Find & Replace

    I'm trying to get DW 8 to allow me to remove some of the
    "found" items before using the replace function to avoid having to
    open each file individually - but when I delete entries from the
    "found" list, on r-click I'm given 3 options:
    - Open File
    - Find & Replace
    - Clear Results
    The Find & Replace option takes me back to the original
    Find & Replace screen. With DW4 you have the option of deleting
    some of the "found" entries before pressing the "replace" button.
    Has DW really taken a backward step?

    I neevr used DW4, so I'm not certain how that worked. And it
    doesn't look like you can delete entries from the Search panel.
    You might use other techniques to limit your changes. Any
    folders or files that are cloaked will not be updated by the
    Replace. You can set cloaking for specific files or folders, or by
    file extension (on the Site panel). Or, you could select only the
    files you want to target and use the Selected Files in Site option
    of the Find In drop-down. Or, you could use the Replace button in
    the Find/Replace panel to go through the results one at a time,
    rather than using Replace All.
    If you are changing HTML tags or attributes, the Find/Replace
    options are very powerful.

  • Find & Replace text in html files

    This is my first real attempt at using Automator, and it has become increasingly frustrating for me. I love the idea of Automator, nice interface, and it appears to be so easy to use. But, I can't get it to actually DO anything and I don't understand why.
    Here is my goal:
    to batch process multiple html files to remove certain characters and words (or replace them with empty space).
    I currently open these files in Pages and do 6 separate Find & Replace commands for each file before I continue with my other processing tasks. This is very tedious and I believe the computer should be able to find & replace multiple items at one time. (I have used other utilities to do batch renaming and trimming file names before.)
    All I want to do is select a group of files (usually 25 at a time) and have Automator get rid of all the unwanted words and characters before I open each file for final processing in Pages. I found a set of Automator actions for TextEdit which includes a Find & Replace action, but I've wasted over an hour so far trying to get it to work.
    When I run the workflow, it acts like it's doing something, but the files remain unchanged. I have tried using actions such as Read Text File, Get Contents of TextEdit Document, Set Contents of TextEdit Document, along with 6 instances of Find & Replace, but I cannot get it to work.
    I'm at a point today where I cannot afford to mess around with this anymore. I have to do it the long way in Pages or else I'll never get it done, but I want to get these Automator workflows to work before I have to repeat this task. (I do this at least once a week right now.)
    Any ideas or suggestions? I've tried reading in the help menus and support pages, but perhaps I'm just not understanding something here.

    Any ideas or suggestions?
    You might be interested in using TextWrangler. It can perform batch find-and-replace changes across multiple selected files.
    Good luck!

  • Find Replace from Textfile with regex

    Hello.
    I'm wondering if anyone knows about an existing script that does a find/replace by list like the script "FindChangeByList.jsx" that comes with every InDesign installation.
    This consists of tow parts, the script itself with the functionality and a simple textfile where you have simple one-liners capable of find/replace with regex.
    the Textfile:
    //FindChangeList.txt
    //A support file for the InDesign CS4 JavaScript FindChangeByList.jsx
    //This data file is tab-delimited, with carriage returns separating records.
    //The format of each record in the file is:
    //findType<tab>findProperties<tab>changeProperties<tab>findChangeOptions<tab>description
    //Where:
    //<tab> is a tab character
    //findType is "text", "grep", or "glyph" (this sets the type of find/change operation to use).
    //findProperties is a properties record (as text) of the find preferences.
    //changeProperties is a properties record (as text) of the change preferences.
    //findChangeOptions is a properties record (as text) of the find/change options.
    //description is a description of the find/change operation
    //Very simple example:
    //text          {findWhat:"--"}          {changeTo:"^_"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all double dashes and replace with an em dash.
    //More complex example:
    //text          {findWhat:"^9^9.^9^9"}          {appliedCharacterStyle:"price"}          {include footnotes:true, include master pages:true, include hidden layers:true, whole word:false}          Find $10.00 to $99.99 and apply the character style "price".
    //All InDesign search metacharacters are allowed in the "findWhat" and "changeTo" properties for findTextPreferences and changeTextPreferences.
    //If you enter backslashes in the findWhat property of the findGrepPreferences object, they must be "escaped"
    //as shown in the example below:
    //{findWhat:"\\s+"}
    grep          {findWhat:"  +"}          {changeTo:" "}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all double spaces and replace with single spaces.
    grep          {findWhat:"\r "}          {changeTo:"\r"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all returns followed by a space And replace with single returns.
    grep          {findWhat:" \r"}          {changeTo:"\r"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all returns followed by a space and replace with single returns.
    grep          {findWhat:"\t\t+"}          {changeTo:"\t"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all double tab characters and replace with single tab characters.
    grep          {findWhat:"\r\t"}          {changeTo:"\r"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all returns followed by a tab character and replace with single returns.
    grep          {findWhat:"\t\r"}          {changeTo:"\r"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all returns followed by a tab character and replace with single returns.
    grep          {findWhat:"\r\r+"}          {changeTo:"\r"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all double returns and replace with single returns.
    text          {findWhat:" - "}          {changeTo:"^="}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all space-dash-space and replace with an en dash.
    text          {findWhat:"--"}          {changeTo:"^_"}          {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}          Find all dash-dash and replace with an em dash.
    The script:
    //FindChangeByList.jsx
    //An InDesign CS5.5 JavaScript
    @@@BUILDINFO@@@ "FindChangeByList.jsx" 3.0.0 15 December 2009
    //Loads a series of tab-delimited strings from a text file, then performs a series
    //of find/change operations based on the strings read from the file.

    //findChangeOptions is a properties record (as text) of the find/change options.
    //description is a description of the find/change operation
    //Very simple example:

    This is a very useful and easy to maintain script which even people who cant write scripts (but know how to use regex) can do complex search replace mass replacements.
    Would love to find something like this for FrameMaker 12 (as i can't write scripts myself).

    I have visited that site. The first item in the external link says: "You can also configure Firefox to automatically search for text when you type any characters outside of a text field. When typing in a text field these characters should show up in the text field and not trigger the Quick Find bar. "
    What I am looking for is the exact opposite. Once my first search is entered in the text box, and the info comes back, I want to start typing the next symbol, and have it automatically show up in the text box, not the Quick Find box. That is how it was working up until a couple of months ago.

  • How to change a plant in sales order for main item of BOM

    Dear Gorus,
    Please tell me how we can change plant of main item of a BOM?
    Actually, I have maintained a LUMF BOM. The main item and components of this are maintained for two different plants.  BOM is also maintained for both the plants and it explodes smoothly in sales order once I provide the plant. But as per our reqirement sometime we need to change the plant. Here system does not allow to change the plant of main item of BOM as it is in gray mode now.
    Please guide me how can I change the plant? Is it possible by configuration or should I go for userexit?
    If the userexit required please tell me which userexit I have to use because I already discussed and checked with my ABAPer. we could not find the right userexit.
    Thnaks in advance.
    regards,
    Sanjay

    Dear Sanju,
    Could you please explain what you have done for the same?

    Hi Sandeep,
    Thanks for the information.

  • Unable to find header & Item table name

    Hi PP Team,
                         I am very confused to find table name like BOM header,production header or item i know table name BOM header is STKO,& Order header AFKO.As per procedure am go to header press F1 i got table name but not header or item table name.
    Could you plz explain me process how to find this table name.
    Kindly assist me on above problem.
    Regards,

    Dear 87,
    DOGBOY49 has explained it very beautifuly,
    there is difference in table name and field,
    Put cursor in screen field, press F1, it will show description about this field. Then press "Technical Information" button, you can get field name and table / structure / view. If you get a table / view field, check the data in table / view, you may find it there.
    Exploring Search help (display available list to help input value by pressing F4 in screen field).
    Sometimes field with search help can be found be displaying field in its search help. Example, tcode XD03 (display customer) field Customer (RF02D-KUNNR). It is a stucture field, to find the table, place cursor in screen field, press F4 (display search help), run search help until it show available list. In this list, place cursor in field customer, then press F1 to display technical info. You will get table/view field for this
    Above all this there is help available at

  • How to create items and BOMs using web services

    Hi All,
    I need to create, change and read Items and BOMs through web services (using SOA Gateway, right). I found this one here: "Process Item (convenience wrapper version)" or "Process Item" within
    Internal Name     EGO_ITEM_PUB
    Type               PL/SQL
    Product          Advanced Product Catalog
    Status          Active
    Business Entity     Catalog Item
    Right now, I don't know how to use it. If somebody has a simple example to create a single item, this would be perfect! Which one would be the right one to read detailed information about an existing item?
    The second object I need to maintain (create, change and read) is BOM. Which API can I use here?
    btw: I use EBS 12.1.1 on windows.
    Many thanks,
    Konrad

    Hi!
    Thanks for your quick answer but unfortunately, I must admit that I'm an absolute beginner with Oracle and EBS and so things like:
    Enable trace and generate the tkprof file or open the form using forms builder to get the name of the API used in thta screen.or
    Please check e-trm site for your question do not help me to much :-(
    Any other advice?

  • Find/Replace Extended Character Set characters in filenames in one pipeline

    Hello all,
    I have to work with some very bored people. Instead of putting a dash (hex 2d) into a filename, they opt for something from this
    set of extended characters, which makes my regular expressions fail.  IS there a way I can efficiently find & replace anything outside the standard character set
    in one pipelinewithout finding and replacing a character at a time?
    So,I'd like something like:
    get-childitem * | where-object $_.name -match '\x99' | rename-item -newname { $_.name -replace '\x99','='}
    from hex 80 to hex FF rather than a for-each.
    Thanks.

    Answer would depend on the way you want to replace... Easier if you want replace any char in set with selected char:
    $Name = -join (180..190|%{[char]$_})
    New-Item -ItemType File -Name $Name
    Get-ChildItem * | Rename-Item -NewName {
    [regex]::Replace(
    $_.Name,
    '[\xB4-\xBE]',
    } -WhatIf
    But if you want it more complicated, you may do that too. E.g. defining hashtable that can be used to replace individual elements:
    $Replacer = @{}
    foreach ($Char in (180..190 | % { [char]$_ })) {
    $Replacer.Add(
    [string]$Char,
    (echo _, -, =, . | Get-Random)
    $Replacer
    Get-ChildItem * | Rename-Item -NewName {
    [regex]::Replace(
    $_.Name,
    '[\xB4-\xBE]',
    $Replacer[$args[0].Value]
    } -WhatIf
    Using this syntax make it possible to include some logic in replace. E.g. you could easily use switch to decide what to do with given string:
    Get-ChildItem * | Rename-Item -NewName {
    [regex]::Replace(
    $_.Name,
    '[\xB4-\xBE]',
    switch ($args[0].Value) {
    º { "0" }
    µ { "u" }
    ¹ { "1" }
    ¸ { "," }
    Default { "_" }
    } -WhatIf

  • "Multiple Line" Regular expressions in find/replace

    Hi there,
    I'm wondering if it is possible to find and replace (in batch
    mode) the following obstacle:
    say is have this piece of code in every html file i'd like to
    edit:
    <html>
    <blah blah (Same text in all files)>
    <blah blah (NOT same text in all files)>
    <blah blah (NOT same text in all files)>
    <code that is the same again in all files>
    and would like to replace it by nothing, effectively deleting
    the part completely... (by leaving the replace by field empty).
    The tricky part is that the lines which are NOT the same in
    all files, are sometimes 2 lines, but sometimes 3 or more lines.
    Somehow I need to get the regular expression to include
    <line>* (or something similar), in order to make the regular
    expression work.
    Any ideas on how to solve this? I must say untill now, the
    Dreamweaver search and replace function has been the most effective
    one, compared to many alternatives out there.
    Rp

    I've tried \1 and $1Just these in the text items of the find & replace dialog box...?????
    Can you write down exactly what have you tried....(text to be replaced by which....)????
    Greetings....

  • FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id ( forms 10g Menus/Forms Conversion )

    Hi All ,
    We have menus converted into forms 10g using the forms migration assistant FMA ( frmplsqlconv ) . Now , we had the menus (.mmb) which had used Shared Menus.
    After conversion observed that there were some duplicate copies of the shared menus created automatically and each reference where this shared menu was used was replaced by the newly created ones.
    Now , when I open the form that uses the menu I get the following error :
    FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id
    On debuggin observed the the above error was generated at :
    set_menu_item_property(SHARED_MENU.ITEM,.... )
    Not sure how this worked in forms earlier version and not working in 10g now.
    Could anyone please let me know how to go about to fix this issue and why is this happening at the first point.
    Is re-creating the menu from scratch the only option to resolve the issue ?
    Please advise ..
    Thanks ,

    Hi
