This is a copy of my prervious post here:
My son and I have the L2000 laptop that came with 32 bit XP and used the Conexant chipset for Audio. I had been using an SB Audigy PCMCIA card so I am not sure when Audio was really lost; however, he noticed it when I upgraded his PC. I scoured various forums looking for 64 bit  Windows 7 drivers for Conexant audio but to no avail. Microsoft and Conexant both said that HP should supply the drivers. By the way HP, the Conexant website says that they do not supply drivers even though they make the chipsets "at the request of the OEM's." Another post said that HP was not going to supply these drivers for Windows 7. The solution from HP for my model and Windows 7 was the "HP Software Advisor" which was 67MB and totaly useless. It appears that this is a very common problem. Anyway, here is what you do:
First you need 2 files which ironically enough come from HP, they are SP35558.exe and SP35558.cva They contain the Conexant drivers for Vista x64. (I subsequently have found the 32 bit drivers and the procedure should be very similar except the files are SP34789.exe and SP34789.cva). Type the following into your browser address bar ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000 About half way down you will find these files. Just right click each one and save to your desktop.(The 32 bit files are in a different subdirectory at ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp??????-??????)
Double click SP35558.cva and tell Windows to use Notepad to open it. Scroll about half way down to "[Operating Systems]" and after "WV64UL=OEM" insert:
W764HB=OEM
W764HP=OEM
W764PR=OEM
W764UL=OEM
( For 32 bit systems use W732HB=OEM, etc.)
I next went up about 10 lines to "[System information]" and added
SysId3=0x3091
SysName3=HP Pavilion ze2000 series
SysId4=0x3096
SysName4=Compaq presario M2000 series
SysId5=0x3097
SysName5=Compaq Presario M2000 series
SysId6=0x3097
SysName6=HP Special Edition L2000 series
SysId7=0x3093
SysName7=Compaq Presario M2000 series
SysId8=0x3093
SysName8=HP Special Edition L2000 series
I got this information from another cva file on my PC at C;/swsetup/ This is the directory where HP updates default to.
After modding the cva file, I saved it to C;/swsetup/sp35558/
I then executed the SP35558.exe file. It did not work the first time -- I missed a line in my cva file. However, I then manually installed the Conexant drivers as follows and voila I had sound, nice crisp clear sound.
Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then "Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". Select "Sound, audio and game controllers", then "Conexant", then "Have Disk". Browse to C:/swsetup/sp35558/ and open "cp6308Ba.inf" (64bit remember). Now choose "OK" and ignore any warnings about incompatibility, WHQL, etc. Give it plenty of time, you might think you are in a loop, but you are not. Congratulations, you are done.
The use of the cva file is to streamline the driver install and it is kind of cool if it works. If you cannot find it or you are not successful the first time or you do not want to bother with modding anything, do not worry, the manual install will work for sure. Run sp35558.exe to extract everything and let it strike out. Then go to Device Manager and update the driver manually as I described in the paragraph above.

  • Where can i find sound driver for Satellite 2100CDS?

    I reformatted the hard drive on my Satellite 2100CDS and I need the sound driver to get the sound working.
    Where can i find this?

    I can confirm that.
    As far as I know the PCI communication device could be audio and modem device.
    But it could be also a installed ISDN or LAN card. But I think teh LAN driver was installed already and the ISDN card is not placed in the notebook.
    Simply download the modem driver and try to install it.

  • HP Pavilion dv6815nr cant find sound driver.

I just cant figure out what type of sound card is on here. name of the sound card or a straight up link to the driver would be nice if anyone can help out.(Windows xp not Vista)
    Thank you.

    Hi:
    In order to install the audio on XP it takes a 2 step process.
    1. You have to first install the MS UAA driver
    2. Then you install the audio driver.
    See the XP downgrade guide below and look at the info under Moderate Models for your notebook series.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/General-XP-Downgrade-Guide-for-HP-Laptop...
    You probably have the Conexant audio chip but if you want confirmation, click on the multimedia audio controller in the device manager.  Then click on the details tab.
    Post the top string of characters you see there.
    Those will iD the model audio chip you have, so you know what driver you need to install.
    Note:  If we determine you do have the conexant audio, then install the MS UAA driver, and then install the driver that was modified by Silver on the downgrade guide and you should be all set.

  • Where can i find the sound driver for my Toshiba Satellite U505-S2970 ?

    Where can i find the sound driver for my Toshiba Satellite U505-S2970 ?
    Please help me.

    If "Realtek High Definition Audio" is listed under the "Sound, video and game controllers" in the Device Manager then that is your sound driver. Some people have had luck with uninstalling the Realtek HD audio driver from their computer via the Device Manager (be sure to check the "Delete driver software for this "), and then reinstalling it. You can get the latest version of the Realtek HD audio driver from the Realtek download site.
    Many of us who have the Realtek HD sound driver have had to make several tweaks to improve the sound. Opening the Realtek HD Manager and enabling Loudness Equalization and setting the equalizer to Powerful helps with some of the low audio issues some of us have experienced with the Realtek HD sound drivers.

  • Satellite L650 psk2cu - Can't find Win XP sound driver

    Hi...
    i recently purchased 3 L650 laptops for our department..
    I downgraded from Windows 7 to XP pro because of conflicks with older software we have to have...
    I was able to find all drivers except audio and modem... Yes i have allready went to europe toshiba site and tried the Conexant and Ati drivers..
    They dont work.. Also looked on conexant site.... Spend at least 8 hours trying to find thses drivers..
    Ready to return the laptops....model # is psk2cu-01000j...
    Any and all help is needed

    What does this mean doesnt work?
    Do you have some yellow exclamation marks near the sound card in device manager?
    Did you try to reinstall everything again?
    For other people the sound driver worked fine so it seems something went wrong in your case
    I googled and found also this page:
    [Conexant HD Audio CX20561 Driver v.3.47|http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/drivers/sound_cards/companies/conexant/models/hd_audio/time_elapsed/9102.html]
    On another page i found this advice... someone posted this:
    +Download ConexantHDAudio 221_XP+
    +Go to Device Manager and choose your audio device marked with '?'.+
    +Select Details. Here you can find something like:+
    +HDAUDIO\Func_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5069&SUBSYS_17AA4002 +
    +14F1 & 5069 strings are Vendor and Device ID's and are Conexant Cx20561 identification.+
    +Add the string 17AA4002 in .inf file located in ConexantHDAudio 221_XP\XP32\WiSVHe5.inf in a line like:+
    +%HdAudioFunctionDriver.Hermosa5051.DeviceDesc% = HdAudModel,HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5069&SUBSY S_103C30D9+
    +Save the changes and install the driver.+

  • Help me find a sound driver for dual booting G7 with XP

    I have a new HP laptop with Windows 8 64 bit.Model Number is:  Pavilion G7 22251dx   -   Serial is {Removed for privacy}
    The specs can be found here:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03561498&cc=ad&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_us...
    I have a clean install of Windows 8 64 bit after having wiped my factory default partition and reinstalled Windows under Legacy Bios Mode instead of the default UEFI. I added back all my drivers from the HP support site and Windows 8 is working correctly.
    I'm dual booting with XP Pro 32 bit with service pack 3. I have no sound in XP Pro 32 bit. I have spent hours trying drivers and nothing is working.
    I need both my video drivers (which are installed) with HD support and I need IDT drivers. Here is the hardware I'm using at least as far as Windows 8 shows.
    The bundled sound driver is called sp59620.exe when you download it but it's actualy: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver VERSION:  6.10.6425.0 REV:  A
    This hardware information is taken from  AIDA64 Extreme, which is a  system information tool:
    ATI Radeon HDMI (at) AMD K15.1 - High Definition Audio Controller PCI
    IDT 92HD87B2/4 (at) AMD Hudson-3 FCH - High Definition Audio Controller PCI
    I have searched for the driver manually, and used tools such as Slim Drivers, DriverBoost, Ma-config, DriverPack Solution and none of the drivers work ( also they all recommend different drivers LOL)
    I'll be happy to provide any extra information you may need.
    Thank you.

    Hi:
    First install the chipset driver and reboot.  First download listed.

  • Need"multimedia audio controller" driver for pavilion zv5340us running XPsp3

    Just received a free HP Pavilion zv5340us and can not find the driver for the multimedia audio controller.
    Searched everywhere on the net (HP website, Driverguide,etc...) and on my XP cd.
    I have everything else working but I have no sound.
    Running XP SP3. Does anyone have this driver?

    Hi:
    I see there are no audio drivers for your notebook on the support page, nor does the product description say much about the audio that would help, so...
    Click on the multimedia audio controller in the device manager. Then click on the details tab.  Post the top string of characters you see there. Those will hopefully ID the manufacturer and model of your audio card, and I can try and find the driver link to post for it.

  • Accidentally Got Rid of Sound Driver

    Hi,
    The support page has only one driver for audio:
       http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59620.exe
    My suggestion: reboot the machine and let it find the driver for you or reinstall the above file. Other option is go to the following link and click    Scan now    .
