Find Stopped Working

I am working with Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9. Until today, I have been using the Find function to successfully search my photos via my assigned keywords. Today, this stopped working. None of my keywords can be found by the Find function, yet Filter works fine. The only thing I can think of is that my attempt to run Disk Cleanup to free up some disk space impacted the program. I don't know how to get this working again.

Control doesn't seem to work for me. Nothing pops up.
I don't understand why engineers put such an obscure way of resetting. Why not just have a reset button under preferences with a confirmation box like most other software.
The only way I could get it to reset was to manually delete my preferences folder

Finder stop working 10810 Desktop not working either Mac Book Pro 13 Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Finder stopped working 10810. I have reboot it, created a new adm account but desktop not showing files or icons on it.
I have deleted com.apple.finder.plist and even though not working.
I dont have the disks available how to recover or make finder work .
Any suggestion are welcome.

Sounds like a issue when the video cache file is being written, perhaps anti-virus is scanning it, or it's being written to smaller or failing sectors.
1: Hard drives ideally below 50% filled, never more than 80%, use Activity Monitor> Drive Usage.
2: Always on anti-virus? Uninstall it, use the free, run as you need it ClamXav instead
4: MacKeeper? Uninstall it and never use it again.
5: Copy all User files to a external storage drive (not only TimeMachine), reduce user files down, disconnect all drives, use Disk Utility > Erase Zero Free Space to catch failing sectors in free space on the boot drive.
6: Restored from TimeMachine or clone? Likely restored a corrupted system or malware.
Run through this list from #1 - #16 or go hard core and #9 and Zero erase entire drive in #20, start over.

Search/find stopped working

At first I noticed that I had to open the Find window after I'd open a file to do code edits occassionally, it was pretty jittery.
Now just recently, the Find window only returns a "Done. Not found in the current document." It doesn't work.
I've already tried the options... this thing can't find a $ in a php file it doesn't do anything.
Has anyone bumped into this problem or know what's happening?

I haven't encountered that problem, but erratic behaviour in Dreamweaver is frequently caused by a corrupted file cache. Instructions on how to delete it can be found here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/417116?tstart=0#cache. Sometimes, it's necessary to delete your entire configuration folder (details in the same place).

My finder stopped working and can't open windows or folders

Help! I believe it might have been because I have attempted to upgrade my OS and failed. After the reboot, all the icons of folders on the desktop did not get displayed (but the names can be seen) and no operation relating to opening a Window or folder works. So I can't get to any files, except those that are already on the desktop. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem or who to turn to? Oh yes, the OS is slow also, the wheel of death comes out very often now. Other then these two issues, applications (which I can access through the Dock or Spot Light) seem to work fine. I am in Shanghai, China. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the issue is not with the email, but with the iOS software and more specifically the firmware. Try to save whatever files and documents you can. Sync the files with iTunes or make certain they are copied to iCloud. Then perform a DFU and restore the iPhone as new.
Read each of the steps before initiating the DFU.
!. Connect the iPhone to any computer running a fully updated version of iTunes.
2. Press and hold both "home" and "sleep/wake" buttons
3. After eight seconds let go of only the sleep/wake button.
4. Keep holding the home button until you see a popup mesage in iTunes.
5. Read all all the popups, then use iTunes to update the iPhone's software.
If the popup fails to show, repeat steps 2 through 4

Finder stopped working altogether, and can't see Volumes on desktop

I cannot open a finder window and I can't open any folders on the desktop either and my harddrives aren't showing up.
I updated to 10.4.5, I also recently turned on "see hidden files" but later turned it off
Another weird circumstance was for a few sessions all my desktop icons were very pale in color, thats gone away, now its just the finder issue, which incidentally makes my machine run like crap when I AM able to open something from dock.

Had a similar situation. Spinning beach ball in finder, no icons on desktop, not even the hard drive. Turns out it was a problem with something I had tried to move out of the trash to the desktop -- a font I was trying to eliminate while running FontDoctor.
Solution was to change startup disk to a bootable external firewire hard drive and restart. (If you don't have an external bootable drive, but have access to another Mac, then you can have your computer's hard drive show up as a desktop icon on the other computer by powering down your computer, connecting it to the other computer via Firewire and powering up again while holding down the T key.)
With the external drive as the startup disk, I was able to access my hard drive / users / my name / desktop. From there I dragged the offending font to the trash in the dock of the external drive and emptied it. Also, as there was unemptied trash in the dock of my computer's hard drive, I typed the word "trash" in Spotlight which revealed, among other things, a folder in Users called .trash. Sure enough, when I double clicked on the folder, my trash from the original start-up disk was there, full of all sorts of things. So I dragged the contents to the trash bin of the backup drive, emptied it, then selected the original drive as the startup disk and restarted.
Alas, everything was back to normal. Hard drive icon, desktop stuff, and no spinning beach ball. Hope this helps.

Sony camcorder - usb mode - finder stopped working

Hello,
I used to be able to access the stills on my Sony HandyCam HC40 quite easily. I simply plugged in the USB cable and turned on the camera and went to the play/edit mode. Then the camcorder showed up as a disk drive in the finder.
Now I get a message on the camera screen saying USB Mode Unplug before changing settings. No disk drive shows up in the finder.
As far as I can tell there have been no setting changed on the camera and the only difference in the Mac is that I am now at 10.4.10 whereas I was at an earlier version (not sure which) the last time I successfully did this.
does this situation ring a bell for someone?
(Note that firewire - iMovie is still fine, but to get to my stills I need to solve this USB issue.)

Hmmm. Same problem on my wife's ibook running 10.3.
So it seems that blaming 10.4.10 may not be fair.

After installing Mavericks, Finder stopped working

I can't open any folders. Nor can I open Finder itself. When I try, all the icons on the desktop disappear for a while and then return. I have tried repairing permissions and verifying and repairing the disk.

I'm having similar problem with my MBP mid 2010 2.4 ghz, 6gb ram.
In my case every time I point at Share combo box in a file contextual menu i get finder crashed and i have to force quitting.
Looking at the log I managed to find that 'com.apple.ShareKitHelper' every 15 secs keeps on logging error messages.
Can anyone give an hand on this?

Finder stopped working

Since upgrading to 10.7.3 Finder won't find anything.
Tried to relaunched, didn't do anything

Select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Spotlight ▹ Privacy. The list of items excluded from Spotlight indexing is shown (it may be empty.) Click the plus (“+”) icon to add an item to the list. Select your boot volume (under DEVICES) and add it to the list. Then remove it from the list by selecting it and clicking the minus (“-“) icon.
Spotlight will rebuild the index. If you try to do a Spotlight search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, a pulsing dot will appear in the icon. When the dot disappears, the indexing is complete.

Finder not working Mac OS X 10.6.3

I am running a macbook pro which i start up with a flash drive. It has Mac OS X 10.6.3.
But, when I try to open a folder or finder window, the Finder stops working and I get the spinning pinwheel. After it stops, I can relaunch it with the force quit window, but the same problem persists. It is a pretty old laptop, somewhere around 2006 I think, but I never had problems with Finder when I started up from the hard drive.
If there is a known solution for this I would very much appreciate it.

(PS I tried verifying the disk and permissions. There were lots of permissions to repair, but I did it, and I'm still having the finder problem.)

Flash drives are extremely tempramental for booting. Any other USB devices will slow them down. Also most are not preformatted for Mac booting:

The webcam is a built-in USB device, so it may have something to do with it.
You are better off getting a Firewire hard drive. Firewire 400 to 800 cables exist if needed.

HP Solution Center stopped working and HP Print and Scan Doctor cannot find my OJ4680

HP Solution Center came installed on my HP G60 notebook with Windows 7 premium 64 bit. It suddenly stopped working--it says it cannot run because the device installation is not complete. If I open HP Sup0ort Assistant it says the OJ4680 is ready and it is designated as the default printer in Printers and Devices but when I try to run HP Print and Scan Doctor it cannot find it--it can only find OJ4500 which I use when I'm in my second home. Please help me fix this as at this point I can't print or scan.

I haven't tried your solution yet because before I received your instructions I updated the drivers again and it appears to be working though I've had a message since then that I couldn't scan because my device was offline which was not true as I had just printed a document. I used HP Print and Scan doctor and followed the steps which included turning the device off and unplugging it for 60 seconds. I can now copy, print and scan but I still have the yellow triangles with exclamation points on both my PC and all in one. I'm not sure I want to do more at this point since everything is working well at the moment. BTW my laptop is set for automatic updates by HP and Microsoft, why didn't they keep this problem from occurring?

Safari stops working. Mail won't work with Safari running. Now iTunes can't find my phone. If I restart and do one thing at a time it helps but still not reliable. All software on my iMac is up to date.

I have a new iMac and iPhone 4.0. All software is up to date and I have installed the free beta version of Mountain Lion which let me use iChat on my computer. Safari intermittently stops working. Mail won't access my mailboxes if Safari is running. Now iTunes won't find my iPhone when it's locked and in a dock charging. Oops. You installed the beta Mountain Lion on your main hard disk? Usually most people install it on a secondary or external hard drive. Your situation should actually be posted on the Developer web site for Moutnain Lion and not here. All I can suggest here is to run repair permissions and restart. Sorry.

touchscreen don't need driver
go to device manager, find Human Interface Device, find HID-compliant touchscreen (maybe under USB input device), try to enable it, click yes and restart PC
If not solved, try to perfrom system restore (back to condition when this PC working fine)
