  • Query to find out the free disk space on C: drive

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to create a query in  Queries section under Monitoring, To find out the free disk space of C: drive.
Am using the below query, but it shows lot many fields, I need only Machine names of the collection and their
Free Disk Space on C: drive
    select * from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK on SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.DeviceID = "C:" and SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.FreeSpace > 1024
    Please assist

The SELECT part of the query will govern what fields you are shown, so perhaps try:
    Select SMS_R_System.ResourceID, SMS_R_System.NETBIOSname, SMS_G_System_Logical_Disk.FreeSpace
    from SMS_R_System
    inner join SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK on SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId
    where SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.DeviceID = "C:" and SMS_G_System_LOGICAL_DISK.FreeSpace > 1024
    I hope that helps,

  • Not Enough Free Disk Space on System Volume

Hello. I am using iDVD 5 on Mac OS X 10.4.11. The following error keeps coming up when I click the burn button: "Multiplexer preparation error: Not enough free disk space on system volume (need at least 1 GB)." I am confused because I have the project saved to MyBook and it has about 80 GBs of free space. According to the status pane my movie is 3.9 of 4.0 GBs. I've been struggling with this whole project for about 2 days now. Please help!! What should I do?

    Welcome to the forums.
I assume your reference to "My Book" is an external hard drive. Firewire external drives work well to capture video and create iMovies, but the error message refers to the lack of space on your internal hard drive. You'll see a range of recommendations in this forum, but you need at least 5 gigs of space on your internal hard drive (the boot drive) for iDVD to create a DVD (the recommendations range up to 20 gigs of available space on the internal drive).
This space is used by iDVD as working space and to store the compressed version of your video. There isn't a way to designate your external drive as a scratch drive.

  • Is there any tool or method to find the exact disk space/memory required for a query to execute in certain time

    Hi,
We have SSIS Package, which in-turn executes some Stored procedures .
This Package runs fine at certain time, say 30 minutes which is acceptable. But sometimes, it takes around 1.5 hr. There was no modification done to the package, and the amount of data handled by the package is also same.
I have a doubt that some other big process may be running in parallel when this package is getting executed.
All the Databases are on D drive in the server and currently there is 140 GB free space out of 1 TB.
Now, using sp_who2 I can check what are the big processes which are running in parallel when this package is getting executed and get their Disk I/O.
Now having these information, is there any way to determine, amount of space/memory required to execute a particular query in 30 minutes.
Or to put a question in other way, I have a query and I know its acceptable execution time(30 min). Now is there any way to determine the criteria to get that execution time.
NOTE: The query is optimized and required indexes are created. It was running fine, until 1 week back. Suddenly the execution time has increased.
Can some one please help me in this. Please let me know if you need any further information on this.
Also whenever these jobs are running, sometimes job activity monitor and SSMS gets frozen. Any idea what does this indicate?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raksha

    Perhaps blocking?

  • Time Machine with OSX Server; what happened to the free disk space?

    Hello all,
I am trying to do something that should be pretty simple. I have an iMac, with Mountain Lion and Server installed. My wife has a Mac Air. The goal was to get her to Time Machine backup through the wifi to my external hardrive. I think it is working, but here is the small catch. Last night, while getting it all going, it was saying "making buckup disk ready" through the night until now. Now it is actually doing the backup normally, i.e. I can see the data transferring. BUT, here is the question, in the mean time the external hardrive lost about 300gb of space which is the size of MY iMac backup. So I hope that when I turned on Time Machine it dosnt back up one time as my computer and another as a server. That may not make any sence at all.
Here is a screen shot of my external hardrive:
636.33 GB, before yesterday it was half that. But my wife's hardrive is 100 GB of Data.
Just a note, I had my hardrive wiped clean the other day before Mountain Lion was installed, and I have a "carbon copy" from before that on another hardrive. Can I delete the backup of MY machine and start over?
Thanks, I hope this is clear.
    Best,
    Justin

Try either posting in the iPod Classic forum or the iTunes forum. This is the iPod touch forum.

  • Why is the free disk space incorrect?

When i display info on the disk of my macbook air i get the following info showing that 395 Gbyte is available on a 250 Gbyte disk and none used.
Obviously wrong. What can i do to correct this?

Thanks, Simple and direct solution. I am a bit surprised as it shows that not all functions in MAC OS are well built. Do you think Apple will correct this in future, and are they already working on this?
    Kind regards.

  • Free disk Space in jdk1.5

How to find the free disk space .I have jdk1.5 being installed.
    Can we use getFreeSpace() ?
    Which all packages to import

Windows doesn't have a command that cleanly returns the amount of free space in a root drive. There are a number of ways that you can get the information.
One is to create a .bat batch file that does a "dir" command on the root directory, and then pipe the results through a filter to eliminate all but the one line that has the disk space information. like this:
dir c:\ | find "Dir(s)"Execute the batch file using Runtime.exec, then parse the returned line in the Java code.

  • Where to see free disk space in Lion?

So where has Apple moved the "free disk space: XXX GB" so we can easily find it? I miss seeing it when I click on the hard drive window. I do know we can see it if we get info about the drive, but is there any way else to do it?

Are you talking about the status bar at the bottom of Finder windows?
When In Finder go to the Menu bar click on View then Show Status Bar.
That will put a bar on the bottom of your finder window and it tells you how many items in any folder you are viewing and remaining space on the Hard drive.

  • Free disk space decreasing

since installing lion i have noticed a lost of  free disk space on the build in harddrive even if i save as  little as possible on it.  i havea 1TB external hd....any ideas why??

You can also make use of inotify to see disk activities. Install inotify-tools, then run:
    inotifywait -m -e modify -e create ~/
Monitor for a while, while the free disk space is descreasing.
If that didn't find anything, add --recursive to the command but it can take a while to set up. See the inotifywait(1) man page for details.
My guess is some log files too, e.g. ~/.xsession-errors.

  • Free Disk Space vs Mac Memory Usage

    Hi,
I'm wondering if you might be able to help me - I'm so confused with this issue.
I have a MacBook 2008 with an upgraded 320GB HDD, with currently 203GB free disk space.
My back up disk is 120GB - perfect for a time machine back up of 117 GB of data. However, the TM says theres not enough memory because the full size of the back is 150GB? How can this be?
For some reason, the free disk space figure is different to the memory usage figures in About My Mac?
Can anyone explain to me why this is?
My other half uses this computer and has only pictures and files on it, no music or movies? So how can she have utilised 117GB of data? This was previously a shared Mac, but I've deleted my user acc since upgrading and wanted to make this Mac entirely hers.
Any help regarding this will be truly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Tarmak

CarbonCopyClone.  It is "donateware" ... pay if you want to.  Others use SuperDuper! (both a free and a paid version).  I prefer CCC, but do not let that stop you from paying for SuperDuper if others convince you as both are very competent.
It makes a bootable copy of your system partition, and used repeatedly will make "incremental" backups that take far less time than the original backup.  I have a TimeMachine backup (I consider it "secondary") and a CCC backup whic I consider "primary" and will eventually save me when my system partition gets cranky and refuses to boot -- use the option key at startup to choose the external disk to boot from.
When you boot from the external drive, which will have CCC running in it, you can then "clone back" to the new internal drive.

  • Too little free disk space (FileVault problem)

I've recently been downloading and/or deleting fairly large files, and FileVault hasn't been offering to clean up my home directory on reboot. This means my computer has 276.9 MB of free disk space - not an ideal situation. I'd very much like to just turn off filevault at this point - I'm nothing but unhappy with its performance - but, of course, I don't have the free disk space to do so.
Is there any way to force filevault to allow me to recover disk space?

Do you have any files you and delete (trash) manually to make room, such as old iPod Software and iSight Updaters?
Or, at least backup some files to a CD and DVD that you don't use that often?
Do you have "Software Update" set to "Install and Keep Packages"?
You can safely remove these (backup) these packages as well to make room.
Do a search on your hard drive for any ".dmg" or ".pkg" files and see what turns up.

  • Free disk space issue after iOS5

I have an iPad 1 16GB and after I updated to iOS5 the free disc space reduced so that now I have only 3GB free. 10,6GB is shown as "other". Can anybody tell me what this is and how I can increase the free disk space?

It shouldn't be that large unless, for example, you've got lots of videos in third-party video apps (or other third-party apps with large content) - it's usually caused by corrupt files. The only way the I know of reducing the size of 'other' is to restore back to factory defaults, and you could then try restoring to your backup which hopefully won't copy the 'other' back (or you might have to just sync content back and not restore to your backup).

  • Difference between Ipad free disk space shown in iTunes and Computer folder?

Hello! The paranoid chick is back with another question, lol!
I sync'd my Ipad 2 (iOS6) today. When I attach my Ipad to my PC laptop, I get that popup folder window that shows my Ipad as a removable drive - so I can copy over my photos to my laptop as a backup. Today that little folder that shows my Ipad as a removable folder said I have 15.5G free on my 32G Ipad, but when I look at the Memory Bar (or Summary Bar) at the bottom of iTunes, it says I have 15.33G free. It's only about a 200M difference, but I'm curious as to why there is a difference. Only in the last 6 months have I noticed a difference in the "Free Disk Space" amount under Windows and the "Available Space" in iTunes.
*chanting "I will not dwell on it, I will not dwell on it" over and over*
    Thanks for reading!

Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

The reason I don't feel the need to keep my iTunes backuped up on two computers is because I would like for my MacBook to run faster
A "backup" refers to backing up your iTunes media to an external drive or burn to CD's or DVD's, not your MacBook's drive. First rule of thumb in computing, "Backup" ...  very important to do so in case the your Mac's drive fails and needs replacing.
