Finde Info.plist

I was using PlistEdit Pro to edit the Finder's Info.plist and the app corrupted the file as a result of which Finder can't doesn't start anymore. I know I should have made a backup but didn't as in the past this has never been an issue. But after updating to Mavericks, it seems that certain trivial things are not quite the same anymore. Anyway, the Info.plist is totally f%*$ed and I was wondering whether it is possible to find it online somewhere for download. I already re-installed Mavericks once and it took a bloody 90 mins. I'd rather skip the wait if possible. Thanks.

thanks R C-R. exactly right.  @tuttle: i don't have Xcode. that being said, PlistEdit Pro let's me add 'LSUIPresentationMode -int 4' to Firefox/Chrome/Terminal etc plist files without any problems. it removes the menubar for Firefox, Terminal and some other non-Apple apps, but crashes Evernote/Mail/Preview/Activity Monitor (in general most Apple apps), and does nothing for Chrome although it used to before the current version.
but the most interesting point is this: before installing Mavericks, i was running the latest 10.8 OS update and was able to use this trick just fine to show/hide the Finder's menubar with PlistEdit Pro. after updating to Mavericks, the Finder crashes immediately upon relaunch after adding LSUIPresentationMode -int 4 to its plist.
so since i demonstrated that PlistEdit Pro can be used successfully to edit some user apps on Mavericks, and it also was working fine on Finder before the OS update, isn't the logical conclusion that something connected to the Finder and the new OS code has changed in regards to how plists are handled for system apps? the error message spews forth some complaint about Finder.app having the wrong code signature or some such after the edit is saved to the plist and Finder is relaunched (can't remember the exact wording now, but that's the gist of it).
does Mavericks do something like recompute some sort of hash every single time any file associated with a system app has changed and since plist changed, it screws up the hash, causes the OS to falsely conclude the app has been modified 'illegally' and thus may be a security breach and blocks it from running?

    How do I renew the integrity of the info.plist file (ideally without screwing everything else up)? Or is something else at work here?

    I don't know. It might help if you told me what the message was, and what was the "failing" message you mentioned earlier?
    How is it you are now able to install Messenger? Did you repair the disk? Did you download a new copy?
    One thing you can do is to open the Console application, from your Utilities folder, and have console.log in one window and system.log in another. Use the "broom" to clear both windows, then try to start a chat session. When it quits, there will be a message in one or both of the console windows.
    Copy and paste what you get from these windows (and say which is which). I need to see the exact message to take this further.

  • Iphoto won't launch after 10.6.8 update, info.plist lost

    After I updated, iPhoto would seem to start--it was in the menu bar, but most commands were greyed out and no library was visible or available.  I remembered it was a good idea to trash preferences, so I trashed the Info.plist file.  I also moved com.apple.iphoto.plist or the like.  Then iPhoto's icon turned into a generic app icon and I can't even get the menu bar to become iPhoto.  I found this:
    iPhoto[1303]: No Info.plist file in application bundle or no NSPrincipalClass in the Info.plist file, exiting
    com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[97] ([0x0-0xcb0cb].com.apple.iPhoto[1303]): Exited with exit code: 1
    I may have lost the Info.plist forever in my (ironic) efforts to get iPhoto to work again!
    Help?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
    2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
    A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
    If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
    If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
    If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    I'm at a lost here, I created a backup of my iphone before I updated my firmware.  When I went to go restore from backup, I noticed it did not backup completely.  I checked the 'C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup' and noticed that the folder that carries my backup does not have the info.plist, manifest.plist, or status.plist files??  All the data seems to be intact, just no way to extract it.  I already tried to use iPhone Backup Extractor, did not work.  Somebody please help me out, I don't want to be out of luck.  I'm missing all my past important SMS history, curcial Notes and emails.

    If your backup is corrupted you cannot retrieve data from it.
    I've been working on a tool that repairs most iPhone (iPad, iPod Touch) backups that iTunes reports as corrupted -- it seems to be working fairly well for people we've had using it lately! If someone stumbles on this post and wants to try it out, the program is Decipher Backup Repair, and you can try it here:
    http://deciphertools.com/download-decipher-backup-repair.html
    As other people in the thread have mentioned, you can also try some third-party programs to read the backup and pull-out the important data so you at least have it in some capacity. We have one on the website I've linked above, in addition to the repair software.
    I hope this helps someone who finds this thread! Dealing with iTunes backups can be really painful, and I know it's horribly depressing to wait through a restore to get the corrupted message after SEVERAL minutes.

  • I need bootcamp assistant original Info.plist please

    Hello,
    I am currently trying to run windows 7 on my mac through bootcamp. I have a 2010 macbook pro and so it requires a CD to install windows 7. I know you can alter the Info.plist file so that bootcamp assistant can recognize a USB version of windows 7 for the install.
    I was correctly fixing the Info.plist code, saved it to my desktop, all that good stuf...until, like a moron, I dragged it from my desktop right over the original Info.plist file which I had named InfoOLD.plist so I knew which was which. By doing this I think it like combined the two and there are duplicate lines of code, and I am not great with coding stuff unless im following strict guidlines, or a tutorial walking me through it.
    If someone can give me the correct bootcamp assistant Info.plist I can copy and paste that so that it reverts it to the one it came with. Then when I alter it, I will drag it into the white space of the finder folder so I will have two info.plist folders, the original one and the modified one with the USB radio button coded in.
    Whoever decides to help, I am happy to answer any questions you need regarding what type of macbook pro I have exactly, to ensure I am getting the right bootcamp assistant Info.plist.
    Thank you!

  • Play audio in background without background mode key as audio in info-plist

    My application requires background audio in some conditions but not always, say when a particular screen is active in that case, i want to play audio in background and for that i have specified background key for Audio in info-plist. But my app is not getting approved having following reason:
    While your app has declared support for audio in the UIBackgroundModes key in your Info.plist, no audio is played when users switch to another application. The audio background mode is meant for applications with audio streams, like radio applications. You'll need to provide audible content to the user while the app is in the background or remove the "audio" setting from the UIBackgroundModes key.
    so , is there a way for playing audio in background without specifying background mode key ? or app getting approved with this key mentioned ?
    thanks in advance

    Joe,
    Check out this tutorial written by Michael Wong on this very topic. I think you will find his step by step explanations quite easy to follow...

  • Mail app won't launch: "No Info.plist file in application bundle..."

    Hi -
    I'm running 10.6.8 on an Intel iMac and haven't used Mail in a long time.  I tried to start it today and it won't launch.  I opened the Package Contents for the app from the Finder, and double clicked the Mail executable.  It launched in a Terminal window and gave the following error message:
    Last login: Thu May 24 12:17:01 on ttys000
    /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Mail ; exit;
    imac:~ Bill$ /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/Mail ; exit;

    logout
    I looked and there is a file called Info.plist in the folder and it even has the string NSPrincipalClass in it.  Beyond that, I am clueless!
    Any help much appreciated!
        Bill

    I would download and run the OS X 10.6.8 Combo update.
    I peeked into it with Pacifist, and it contains an update for Mail.app, including replacements for the executable and the info.plist:

  • Info.plist UIStatusBarHidden

    Hi,
    I have a simple iPhone project. The info.plist file was created by the template.
    I've tried adding the UIStatusBarHidden property, gave it a Boolean value and clicked the checkbox that appears in the value column. All seems fine. Just that it does not hide the status bar.
    Now,
    I'm looking at the actual file from a terminal doing "cat info.plist", the result it:
    cat Info.plist
    "CFBundleDevelopmentRegion" = en;
    UIStatusBarHidden = YES;
    CFBundleDisplayName = "${PRODUCT_NAME}";
    CFBundleExecutable = "${EXECUTABLE_NAME}";
    CFBundleIconFile = "";
    CFBundleIdentifier = "com.yourcompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}";
    "CFBundleInfoDictionaryVersion" = "6.0";
    CFBundleName = "${PRODUCT_NAME}";
    CFBundlePackageType = APPL;
    CFBundleSignature = "????";
    CFBundleVersion = "1.0";
    LSRequiresIPhoneOS = YES;
    NSMainNibFile = MainWindow;
    this is a little weird I think, because I thought the file was suppose to be xml format.
    Another oddity is that if I preview the file in the finder (pressing space) I get a nice Xml formatted file. in this preview, the value in the UIStatusBar is stated as
    <key>UIStatusBarHidden</key>
    <string>YES</string>
    since it was mentioned in other posts that it should be
    <key>UIStatusBarHidde><true/>
    I wanted to change this manually but when I open the file in text editor it does not seem like an xml file at all.
    anyone has an idea what's going on?
    -tzurs

    Thanks, I used that and was successful in hiding the status bar.

  • CFBundleDisplayName not in info.plist

    I've developed an app for iOS in Flash specifically for iPad 3's. My client uses SOTI MobiControl as it's mobile device management solution. If I publish out of Flash using AIR SDK 3.4 the app is created and looks  great. When they try to add the app to SOTI for in-house distribution it errors with the error claiming that "CFBundleDisplayName" has been left blank.
    After having looked into it I've been able to find out that when publishing with versions of the AIR SDK older than 3.0, the info.plist file within the app package includes a CFBundleDisplayName. In versions newer than 3.0 there is no CFBundleDisplayName in the info.plist.
    Is there a way to have a CFBundleDisplayName included while publishing from Flash? Or alternatively is there a way to edit the package contents of the .ipa?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    <CFBundleDisplayName> tag is added in Info.plist, if app developer wants localized app name. In order to localize the app name, you would need to add <text> tag under <name> tag in app.xml.
    For example:
    <name>
    <text xml:lang="en">English app</text>
    <text xml:lang="fr">Fran€ais app</text>

  • RCP, Environment Variables, OS X, Info.plist and LSEnvironment

    I've got a somewhat challenging problem here.
    I've got an RCP application that relies upon some shared dynamic libraries which might not be in standard locations (as this is OS X and they are user installed).
    One of the things we need to configure is DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH in order for the shared libraries be discovered. The problem here is OS X doesn't have a simple way to set environment variables that applications launched from the Finder can "see".
    One of the thing that I've found, but not had any success with, is to dynamically modify the RCP's Info.plist to have an additional key LSEnvironment whose value is a dictionary to set environment variables only visible to that application - okay this seems ideal for me. But it's not working.
    I also found that I could use launchctl setenv to set a user global Environment variable, however it's not persistent across launches, and each time I set, I must restart the app. I really need this persistent.
    Does anyone have any solution for setting Environment variables that are visible from the RCP app (and it's children) that works in OS X without having to launch the RCP app from a terminal?
    Thanks in advance!

    Brian de Alwis wrote on Wed, 05 August 2015 19:54Sounds like you want to use System.loadLibrary() with absolute paths?
    That doesn't quite work, as we aren't using JNI. Unfortunately the use-case details get pretty complicated - so I omitted in an effort to make it simpler to understand the problem.
    Basically we have built an IDE that uses the Prolog interpreter, XSB. XSB natively connects to MySQL using the shared MySQL libs. Unfortunately on OS X, MySQL can get installed into possibly one of many locations, and it certainly doesn't install it's libs in /usr/local/lib or /usr/lib. We access XSB via a Java library called Interprolog, which I believe, is just a pipe interface to the command line shell - hence when the Interprolog engine object is instantiated, it fires up a shell process for XSB - which needs to locate those MySQL libraries. Hence, DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH needs to be set to have the path for /usr/local/mysql/lib (or wherever the user installed it) defined in the parent process in order for Interprolog's sub-process to pick up the environment variable.
    Right now there are only 2 reliables ways I have found to get this to work.
    1. Launch Terminal, export the environment variable. Then launch our RCP app from the Terminal. - cumbersome and unintuitive; bad user experience.
    2. Launch Terminal, use `launchctl setenv DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/local/mysql/lib`. And then one can lacuna our RCP app using Finder. - problem is that DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is now global to the environment and will not persist between reboots.
    I've tried added the LSEnvironment dictionary to the Info.plist within the RCP application, but that just doesn't seem to work - and I'm not sure if that is because the OS X eclipse launcher doesn't propagate the environment forward or what. For the time being I have a way for the user to click a button which runs launchctl setenv and then prompts the user to exit the app, and then launch again from finder [IWorkbench.restart() doesn't work because new process is a child of the current] - which works but is undesirable workflow as it doesn't persist across a login/reboot.
    My next step is to try what is outlined here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/829749/launch-mac-eclipse-with-environment-variables-set
    However it feels even more sketchy than just modifying the Info.plist to contain the right environment variables.

  • Creative Cloud for Teams... where to find infos?

    we use a volume license at work for CS6 Master Collection and we need special packages for deployment.
    where can i find infos about CC for teams (or whatever the name is)?
    is the licensing still done via files for CC or do we need a internet connection to activate the software?
    at least there must be a way to download all CC apps at once and install them or create a deployment package?

    Hi hamada2003,
    Sorry for not responding earlier. Have you checked out the Creative Cloud for Teams FAQ? Here is the link: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html#cc-teams
    You do need an internet connection for authenticating once every 99 days with "Teams". It's been announced that there is going to be a way for IT to package and deploy packages to users' workstations, but that's not available quite yet.
    Hope that helps,
    Kevin
