Finder-All My Files- Previous '_' days.. how Do I erase the usage history? without deleting the actual file?
How do you delete the Finder history in All My Files?
I have 35,000 plus in the Previous 30 days category
I'd like to clear all these out without 'trashing' them
I HAVE gone to Go, Recent Folders and Clear AND the Apple icon
Recent items and Clear, and I still have every thumbnail of every photo
ever opened in my All My Files history..... (thousands)
I also had the same issue, but I just discovered that you can set the finder to show, for example, 'Desktop' content by default. There are a few options on the dropdown list you will find there, but I figure you may want to go with the folder that shows fewer or no items at all (since you hate to see that endless list of files). Wanna try? Follow the following path:
Finder > Preferences > General > "New Finder windows show:"
Then choose the folder of your preference; close Finder to refresh; reopen Finder and the long list will be gone. For good! Notice though that, in doing this, you won't be deleting any files from Finder but rather putting them out of sight when you run Finder. So, in case you really need to pull up a file based on history, they will be just a click away on the top of the Finder's FAVORITES menu. It's working for me, and I hope it will work for you, too.

Either you moved or copied your iPhoto library folder to the Desktop.
Quit iPhoto. Rename the folder on your Desktop to something else, such as "foo." Launch iPhoto. If you still see all your photos, you can delete "foo."
If you don't see your photos, quit iPhoto, rename "foo" to "iPhoto Library," and put it in your Pictures folder. Try iPhoto again. -

if it's fat32 then the mac can read it without problems
if it's ntfs then you can install programs which make it possible to write to it too otherwise it's read only -
I am moving all of my iphoto pictures into seperate folders becuase iphoto is great, but a bit cumbersome when I need to transfer all the pictures to a external drive.
1) After I move all pictures, how can I delete the iphoto pictures without destroying the ones I have in files
2) how can I ensure that I have sucessfully captures all the iphoto files so when I delelte from iphoto I have not forgotten any

Thanks!If you Control click on the iPhoto Library, you'll see a list of folders - one named "Masters". Inside of this folder are all of your original, high-res photos. You can copy them to other folders if you like.
You can't delete iPhoto pics without deleting the ones in the iPhoto Library.
You can copy all of your Masters pics out of the Library, ensuring that you won't forget any.
I don't know of anyway to determine if there are duplicate photos - most (if not all) have a unique name assigned.

How can i remove the email account without deleting the email account?

I have an old email account which I want to remove from Mail, which I know how to do. However I don't want to delete these emails but rather park them off-site so that if I ever need them again I can easily re-import. By removing the email account in preferences it says it will delete all the emails etc. from my computer. Is my only solution to copy the emails to a different location, then delete the account and if needed re-import at a later date?

DavidYou can do a couple of things.
You can Export the emails to a .mbox file then Import them in which will create an Import folder in Mail; then delete your email account. Or you can just disable the email account leaving it in your list of accounts only disabled. -
How do I disable an iCloud account without deleting the account?

Deleting the account only deletes if from your iPod, not from iCloud. Anyone else still using the account will not be effected by this.
If you no longer wish to use iCloud, save any photos stream photos that you wish to keep on your phone to your camera roll by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Edit, tapping the photos, tapping Share, then tapping Save to Camera Roll. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Keep on My iPod when prompted (in order to keep a copy of your iCloud data on your iPod.) -

I made a test and I confirm what I was suspected at first place.
I uploaded a photo taken from my iPhone to the shared photo stream. Then I imported this photo from the photo stream to my iPhoto library on my Mac. The resolution in which this photo is stored locally is 2048x1536 and its size 961 KB.
Then I sent the same photo from my iPhone via e-mail. I opened the email on my computer and downloaded the photo. Then I imported it to my Mac´s iPhoto library. I checked the info out and the resolution is now 3264x2448 and size 2.2 MB.
Therefore the quality and resolution of the photos that are uploaded to the icloud photo stream is NOT the same as the original one.
I don´t know whether there is somewhre an option to change that, but this is what happens to me right now. -

We want to change the Primary iCloud account on one of the businesses computers and all it tells us is to delete it. We don't want to because we're afraid this will also delete all the meetings and other things saved on this account. Can anyone tell us how to simply change and not delete. I got an ipad4 and when I go into icloud to type in a new account email it is grey and you can't change it. I want to have my own account in my own ipad.
Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete account button. Any information on that account will be deleted from that device, but it will not be deleted from the cloud or any of the device logged into that account.

How to delete eMail attachments without deleting the text
Often people reply to eMails that I have sent and the resend all the attachments. So maybe I've sent 10 photos and this is 2mb in size. They reply - often more than once - and the attachments are all there!
With Eudora, I could simply go to the Eudora Folder and delete the attachments to save HD Space (hey, 2mb a few times per day for a few years is a lot of gb!)
How to do that in Mail - but without deleting the text of the message they sent?

By the way - I have found my Mail INBOX for my POP and also for my MobileMe accounts (as well as the other mailboxes). In my Library/Mail folder. OK so my INBOX for my POP is 800mb in size. Let's imagine that I have 8000 messages and 200 of them have attachments that are 1 to 10mb in size. If I now select all the messages in the INBOX and delete the attachments, will I see that INBOX drop substantially in size? And those attachments are "glued" to each eMail, right? I can't see them other than opening each eMail and then if I want to save the attachment(s) somewhere, doing that manually, right?
Is there a way to have all attachments automatically saved in another folder? But then they likely are not linked to an eMail - so if I then delete the attachment that is linked to the eMail, the attachment I saved to another folder is there OK- but it is no longer associated with the eMail, so I might not know to what it is related at some future time.
There were some nice advantages to Eudora-- you could quickly scan your attachments in coverflow or other mode--
Mail's way has some advantages in that you always have the attachment linked AND you can save another copy easily.
Likely best to archive each 31 Dec and then have INBOX-2009-21-31 and next year INBOX-2010-12-31 -- I did that with Eudora and have every message received and sent (most with attachments - but that's a bit tricky) - since 5 March 1996. Handy that.
OK I'm rambling a bit but let me know if I have it right here.

There are several .aspx page layout files and one master page file listed in the offending files. As far as I know we are still using these files and I am able to locate the files in the _catalogs\masterpage folder. So what is the problem? And

I had a computer crash and completed a Fresh install of Win7 and restore of all files from Carbonite. I have managed to get LR 5 running in LR. However, I am not sure I have all of my previous catalogs. How can I find my catalogs to assure that I have a complete inventory of all my catalogs.
