Finder aspect

Hello,
Do someone know how to set-up the desktop background to get a personal color (like a medium yellow or brown) and how to change the fonts colors of icons. I know how to change the size but I would like to get the fonts full black.
I'm born in 1906 and it's harder and harder to play with the pointer and icon on my monitor.

Thanks to both of you, the idea to create a background with photoshop or any drawing program is quite clever. I had to wait for my "coach" to be able to answer you today.. We will now play around for finding the suitable color for my old eyes..
It's amazing for me to see that the answer is coming so fast from an other part of the world, when you know that I have seen the revolution of the very first telephone coming in town when I was young.

I installed an add-on that would allow me to change the content of the context menu. It works like a charm and I want to make a donation to the person who developed it, but I can't remember its name and I don't know how to find a list of the add-ons that I have installed. I've checked the lists that appear when you go to the Add-ons Manager under Extensions, Appearance, and Plugins, but it isn't there. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Widescreen project too wide for my widescreen TV?!

Hi everyone!
So I'm going nutz and have read a bunch of other threads on this but most of it is way over my head. Can someone help out a layman?
I just made a movie on iMovie and then moved it to iDVD. I am using iLife 08. The projects (the movie and dvd) were both widescreen. Everything was great! Looked great on the computer etc... But then I played the dvd on my widescreen TV and the top and bottom of the picture (including titles I had put on the bottom of the screen using the imovie templates) had been cut off. Not letter boxed but rather they seemed to not fit on the screen. I tried changing my tv settings but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone know what might be up? I also tried to burn the dvd as a standard 4:3 project and the resulting DVD still had the top and bottom cut off. Is this an issue with my DVD/TV?

On your DVD player, go to settings and find the Video area. Find aspect ratio and change that to 16:9.

How can I have a VMWare repository for add-ons

I have a virtual environment and need to be able to put add-ons/extensions in one shared directory so all my clients can access them. I do not want the users to have to install them. Is there anyway to do this?

How do I export in avi with square pixels?

At present I can only export in avi without my computer shutting down as I need more power. YouTube has become very unhelpful since Google took over and my widescreen exports don't load properly. There used to be a buttong to fix it but that's gone.
I also used to have a tic box for square pixels, how do I select this on CS5.5?

DR, while I can't explain that, I can offer an alternative,
at least to the extended find aspect (not replace). I much prefer
to use an outside tool, because the one in HS locks up the machine
while it searches.
A far better (and free) choice is agentransack.
Terrible-sounding name, but lightning fast search tool (far better
than Windows anemic search). It uses no "indexing" (just searches
the raw files like HS does). For each file found, it also shows all
the "hits" within that file (without you having to open the file).
It's a freeware version of a commercial tool, available at
agentransack.com.

Wrong aspect ratio when space bar preview movies in finder

any way to change finder so that it previews 16x9 movies in the right aspect ratio? it always squishes my 16x9 to 4x3. ugly.

Yes, this seems to be a problem with Mac OS X 10.5 (or maybe some QT version) and 16:9 (PAL and NTSC) SD projects. 4:3 projects are OK.
But I prefer to use Photo To Movie to compose iMovie slideshows anyway because its quality is and has been better.

Problem Resolved - it is a font issue. Apparently Acrobat can't handle particular fonts and it is best to stick with a very small slection of fonts - Arial, Helvetica, Times Roman.
I haven't test a lot of fonts. If I do, I'll post there results here.

Can't find 1:1.85 aspect option when creating Project

Can't find 1:1.85 aspect option when creating Project.
I have files shot on Canon C300 in 16:9, but we had the 1:1.85 aspect lines on the camera and I can't figure out how to incorporate those frame lines for editing.
Is the best way to do it when creating the project? Or is the best way to edit the files in 16:9 and mask the final product?

How to find out what your aspect ratio is?

I have completed my project in FCP 7 and I am trying to send it to a film festival. They need it to be a 1:77:1 aspect ratio-I think they mean 1:78 aspect ratio. I tried to analyze the clip but I don't see any aspect ration listed. Also how would I change the aspect ration on my project I already finished? Use Compressor?

So what are your sequence settings? If you're material was shot within the last few years, it's almost definitely 16:9 (also known as 1.77:1).

Finding images cropped to a particular aspect ratio?

Is it possible to search for images based on their cropping aspect ratio?

Inability to find images based on cropped aspect ratio is definitely pretty annoying. If I want to print a batch of 4x6 photos, I must now select the pictures I want to print and make sure they are indeed 2x3 or 4x6. This is just extra chore that would have otherwise been avoided.
What makes it really irritating is that LR already has this information. It can already display image based on cropped dimension, ie: 4752x3168, all it has to do is divide those two numbers and convert to a the smallest whole numbers, and you get the ratio of 3:2.
Furthermore, LR doesn't even have to do this calculation on every image. If the image was cropped using a pre-defined aspect ratio in the cropping tool, such as 1x1, 8x10, this information should already be part of the catalog. If you select an image and open the cropping tool, it shows what aspect ratio the image is cropped to, such as 8x10, 2x3, etc. I would assume it is easy to allow filtering/search based on the tool used.

IMac 5.5, OS 10.6.8 During startup, the screen aspect changes so that the image is larger than the screen; I have to scroll to find top, bottom, left, right extremes.

Screen display aspect ration suddenly changed while I was online so that I have to scroll to see the edges of the display: up, down, left, right. I rebooted the computer and the problem persists.

System Preferences->Displays->Display and reset resolution to desired size. Don't know of anything that would change that except possibly a failing graphics card.

How to find the size and resolution option in the aspect ratio drop down menu for the crop tool

while looking through certain tutorials on the new crop system i came across many that referenced the above mentioned size and resolution option in the access ratio drop down menu. They all mention a dialog box which then appears which looks really useful, however my version doesnt have this option. any help would be appreciated.

Yes, definitely already differences. I sympathize with Photoshop instructors (online and offline).
The headline change was Retina support but that was also made available to non-Cloud versions.
