In Lion there are now a couple of options are available when you right-click on a Finder window and click on Show View Options:
Always open in list view
Browse in list view
Whereas in Snow Leopard there is only one option:
Always open in list view
So my question is, what's the difference between these two new options in Lion? What exactly does "Browse in list view" mean?

The help file is a bit confusing since it says :
To set the current window to always open in list view, select “Always open in list view.” If the window has subfolders, you can also set them to open in list view.
That part where it says that if the window has subfolders, you can also set them to open in List view. That is what Browse means. So, if you have that checked, when you double-click on a folder in that window, it will open the subfolder in the same view unless that folder has an "always open in ____ View" setting.

You cannot drag the effects themselves to the timeline. You add them to a clip in the Viewer, just as you have done.
If the clip was already in the timeline when you opened it in the Viewer (by double-clicking it in the timeline to open it in the Viewer) and then added the reverb effect, there is nothing further to do, you have added the effect to the clip. You don't drag it back to the timeline.
You only have to drag the clip to the timeline if the clip was not already in the timeline (for example, if you opened the clip from the FCE Browser; or set different In and Out points in a master clip to use a different portion of the master clip in a different location in your timeline).
Depending on the effect you add, you may have to render the timeline after adding the effect. But I don't think reverb requires immediate rendering. One other note, you said you were working with an audio clip ... audio clips need to be AIFF (not MP3 or something else) and preferably 16-bit stereo.

I can open Safari, Finder and Google Chrome ( my default browser) but they do not display on my iMac. Evidently they are minimized somewhere but I can't figure out how to maximize them. This has been a problem ever since I down loaded Mavericks.

Hope the following helps to make things clearer.
When I left click Safari or Google Chrome in my Dock, neither expands. When I then right click wither one in teh Dock, a dialog box pops up which gives me the option to close them, which implies that they are in fact open.
In other words, when I left click on Safari or Chrome in my Dock, nothing visibly changes on my Desktop. Indeed, neither Safari not Chrome are listed as the active window in the menu bar. If I do the same with Finder, at least Finder shows up as active in the menu bar but that's all. Finder itsef is not accessible and so I cannot use it.
On the other hand, I ahve no problem opening up Paralles 9 for Mac to access Windows/Explorer which is what I have done to send this note to teh Apple Communities Forum. Nor do I ahve a problem opening up any of my other programssuch as Office for Mac, etc.
I suspect this may be mavericks related but can't say for sure.

I have just purchased a 2nd generation iPod and I am a returning user to iTunes. unfortunately, I have not used iTunes since the year 2008. I have noticed a lot of things have changed and I am unable to properly organize my music. I have noticed that I cannot change the display of my songs and albums from icons into a list. I would like to form a list so that I may change the name of the composing artist so I can compile multiple songs into one album. Unfortunately, many of the DJ and Trance albums that I already have on my computer have various contributing artists and are then catigorized by the names of their contribiting artist. What I want to do is take all of these songs from one CD that have alreayd been divided and recombine them to form one singlar album on my itunes. I find it frustrating in having to search through 3000 songs just so I can upload my most favorite ones onto my iPod when I could just drag and drop the entire album into the iPod folder. I have also tried high lighting all of the songs that I want to combine into one album and then right click to get more information and change the name of the contributing artist so that they will automatically compile into one folder but it did not work. I also tried to drag and drop one song onto another, just the same as I would in Microsoft Media Player if I wanted to combine albums or add songs to an album, but that also did nothing except cause my computer to make a sound. I would like to know how I can optimize my itunes and make the most of what I have. Unfortunately, it seems like you company is not formiliar with the term "If it is not broken, then do not fix it". Putting asside that comment, is there anything that I can do to combine albums that I have not already tried and could you please give me any suggestions that will work so I will continue this product instead of giving up and just go back to using microsoft. The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of earlier versions with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
Edit > Preferences > General > Show list views for all media does what it says
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
Within Music the Songs view should be the list you are familiar with.
As to getting things organized see Grouping tracks into albums.

Connected to the internet but browser says 'can't find server'

Hi,
I have an Apple Airport Extreme and it has been working well for a long time. My husband and I both run our internet connections from it wirelessly. Recently, when we go to connect to the internet, the browser says 'Can't find Server' but the Airport status bar says we are fully connected to the internet with a strong signal. I have no idea what happened or what is going on. The only thing that we have done differently is update the firmware on both our computers, and it seems as if this problem has started around that time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It might be a good time to perform a complete power recycle of your network components to make sure they are "talking" to each other properly and see if this resolves the problem.
Please try the following:
o Power-down the modem, AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), and computer(s); wait at least 15 minutes. Order is not critical.
o Power-on the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Plug-in the AEBS; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
o Power-on the computer(s).

Thx for that im gonna try it....but is there a way to do it without using toolbar or cmd-c...? i mean using only the mouse?why does it have to highlight the file even though i click a bit next to it....?using icon view i can right click next to the folder and i wont have a problem but with list view that i prefer using it will highlight the whole row.....and i dont find free space to right click cause i got many files

I got the same problem recently in BI 4.1 Platform and all the permissions were already set, I mean on the universe and all others which are required but I found there was some problem in Dashboard Cache server, when I restarted that it worked fine ...
I was able to see the universe once I restarted it. I was getting a Java unable to invoke object Error..

Items "date modified" column when viewing files as list in finder

I'm not really sure if I can change this viewing option, but i will give it a try:
when viewing files as list in finder, "yesterday" items "date modified" column shows up with the term "yesterday", while this does not happen for "today" items, where what shows up is just today's date and not the term "today".
I found this rather confusing, since it is not immediate: i.e. if I want to check for items modified today at a glance, i need to pick today's date from a ist with a number of different dates. As a matter of fact, it's a way easier when checking for yesterday's items.
Suggestions anyone?

I cannot find the setting to keep my browsing history longer that 1 day

running version 3.6.9. When i upgraded last my history settings seem to have been changed and now I can only get 1days history.

lot of good resources out there. I started out following the DW
articles/tutorials "setting up an ASP development environment" and
"Developing a Web Application with Dreamweaver." I am running
Windows Vista Business and IIS 6.0 (or 7.0 - I'm getting completely
confused - see below) and DW CS3, and MSAccess 2007. Anyway, I have
looked at the asp forum (forums.iis.net) and found a good list on
the subject and tried as many things as possible. One of those is
the blog at

Make sure WWW service is enabled (it is)
ping localhost (works)
turn off IE friendly errors (no change)

Check antivirus software - I made sure DW CS3 & MS Access

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to custom the “View in Browser” and “Edit in Browser” with ECB menu.
Per my knowledge, the view in browser and edit in browser use the STSNavigate method to navigate the page.
The URL would like below.

ITunes 7 Release - Crashing - View Cover Browser

I have read a number of the posts on crashing and reviewed some of the suggestions. So far the only unusual find I have seen is that changing the View button to View Cover Browser shows a message that says: "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer"
This would seem to not be a big problem until I went to the Music Store and clicked on Movies. The same message comes up and CRASHES EVERYTIME.
There are definately some problems with this release and will hope to see some updates soon!

card/drivers from the PC makers site (May as well
install all updates they offer) IF the Video card
came with the PC when you bought it
