Finder bug : presentation mode lost ...

With the global Finder, navigate in new window (same thing with the other setting, and navigate with command/pomme open), the parent
window can lost his presentation setting.
To reproduce the bug :
- Make a new folder.
- Apply a icon view, with "always" option, always navigate in icon view deselected.
- Make a new sub-folder in it.
- Open it (in a new window), apply the column view.
- Close the two windows (parent and sub-folder).
- Reopen the parent window, and boom, it's in column view, bye bye always open in icon view ...
My configuration comes from a clean install (in fact a brand new machine, no migration applied).
This bug also appeared in Lion ...
I've tried other view modes, and it seams the bug appears with two distand modes (icon / column or column / icon),
not with two consecutive ones (icon / list or list/column) !
Strange, have you said strange ?

I have come up with a workaround, although not really a fix. But at least it allows you to not have to use Chrome, which is a battery hog for me so far in Mavericks.
The Barbarian Group has a freeware app called "Plainview", which seems to be just a wrapper around Webkit. It works as a "Fullscreen kiosk-style presentation content viewer", similar to what Chrome presentation mode does.
Anyways, it's a free download, so no risk in trying. Scroll almost to the bottom of this page:

  • Storing the directory 'presentation' mode in Finder

    Hi,
Is there a way to store the presentation for a specific directory. For example, I want to browse my Programs folder in List View where as I want my Home directory displayed as Cover flow. Is there a way to tell Leopard which directory should be displayed in which presentation mode without changing it every time?

Apple has made this folder invisible, so that tech unsavvy people won't do anything not good in there.
    Finder > Go > ~/Library/Mail
You can also copy and paste this into terminal:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/  && killall Finder

  • PowerPoint presentator mode bug with Yosemite

I use PowerPoint with Office for Mac 2011. Since downloading Yosemite OS the presenter mode no longer lets me view the slides correctly which makes it very difficult to use. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? It worked very well before downloading Yosemite so I imagine it's an Apple problem not Microsoft...

  • Hyperlink not working in presentation mode when using alternate display

Made hyperlinks to jump from slide x to slide y
That worked fine when testing in presentation mode
When the same file is played using a beamer as alternate display the hyperlinks are not recognised: clicking will start the next build of the presentation

Is there anybody who successfully used a hyperlink to jump from slide A to slide Y? (and when using the beamer as an alternate display, using the macbook pro screen for the presentation notes)
If so, I can try to find out what I do wrong, otherwise it might be a bug in Keynote'08
thanks for your attention in this matter!!

  • Yoga 2 Pro Won't Go To Sleep in Presentation Mode

If I put the Yoga 2 Pro to sleep in Presentation Mode the screen will go dark for a second but then immediately light back up to the lock screen. I haven't had any trouble getting it to sleep in other modes (laptop, tent, tablet). Have others had this problem? Is this a bug or a 'feature'?

You don't want your laptop to go into sleep while presenting, so probably it's a feature.
That you ain't moving the mouse, doesn't mean you ain't talking about what's on the screen.
I could understand that if it only were the case of when it automatically goes to sleep, but I'm talking about manually telling the PC to go to sleep: Charms > Settings > Power > Sleep. If I tell a computer to go to sleep, regardless of what 'mode' it's in, it should go to sleep and stay asleep.

  • Blue and red are reversed on external monitor in ppt presentation mode only

    Hi all,
I have a mid-2012 macbook pro and I'm running OS X 10.9.5  Sorry but the problem's a bit complicated so the description is a bit long.
After I upgraded to maverick I started having a problem at work. I am a university professor who uses my laptop to project ppt lectures onto an external monitor.  I have never had a problem with it.  I am not sure that the problem is related to maverick but it was around that time that it began to occur.
The problem is when I project my display onto the screen before I switch into the presentation mode all the colors on the external monitor are fine, when I switch to the presentation mode on ppt (14.4.5) reds are blues and blues are reds (for most but not all, weird enough) on the external monitor, and blue strawberries are really unappealing.  It is not limited to one projector on campus, I've bothered our IT guys to death about it and they've checked the monitors (not the monitors) and they worked trying to fix my problem but they are flummoxed, I've called microsoft about it and stumped them (they refunded my service fee because they couldn't solve the problem).  My IT guys did find one work around where I changed the settings for displays in ppt from presenter view to mirror show and that worked but it created other problems in that I couldn't advance my slides easily (for each and every slide advance, I had to "pretend" to "end show" after I'd advanced and then it would advance...) so that's not a viable option either. I opened the ppt presentation in keynote and still get the same color reversal happening.  This leads me to think that it may be a maverick problem?  But I don't know.  Now my semester is gearing up and I'd love for the lovely Apple community experts to chime in and give ideas on how to solve this conundrum! I'd be so very grateful!

Either an update to 10.7.4 or a restart with the computer closed the entire time seems to have solved the problem. Not sure which.

  • Acrobat equivalent of PPT's "presentation" mode?

I've convinced a client to let me use an Interactive PDF (out of InDesign CS5) instead of PPT for his courtroom graphics. It is working absolutely beautifully! The *only* feature of Powerpoint that I have not been able to replicate/surpass/find a workaround is Powerpoint's "Presentation Mode." for when the PDF is being projected onscreen. He needs to be able to see which slide is coming next, without the rest of the court being able to see.
The only workaround I have thought of for this is SO clunky: have two laptops, one that is projecting the PDF in Full Screen mode, one that is for his eyes and has Page View active...if he advances both shows at the same time, he'll be able to cross reference the two laptops. Pretty horrible, right?!!
I am at a loss. I figured that, if two heads are better than one, the thousands of users on here will SURELY be able to help me out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

Sorry, but there's no equivalent feature in Acrobat or Adobe Reader and no way to implement it with scripting or even the SDK. It's been requested before, but I can't say if it will ever happen.

  • Need a scroll and fit to width in screen on presentation mode

I am using wireframe presentation in indesign, in web page design some pages are height is going high length, that time presentation mode shrink the page, that one is not good. that time we need some customisation for particular page width need to fit screen, and rest of things need scroll down. This feature really important for web page designer.

You'll need to make a feature request here:

Normally, Adobe product managers don't view the forums. This is a user forum. They do read feature requests.

  • [GNOME] Cinnamon presentation mode

    So my question is this.
Is there a way to change somewhere in settings or what to stop screen from turning off automatically.
I know that in Gnome Shell there is an extension called "Presentation Mode" and when you have it
enabled it prevents screen from turning off.
In cinnamon there is no such option, best i could find is
that under System Settings>Screen i just set "Turn off after" to 1 hour, cause there is no option "Never"
and when i am watching movies or something screen dims after that one hour.
So if you had same problem as i do (and if you use cinnamon you probably had) please
leave a note and post related stuff about it here.
Thank you for your help in advance.

oboedad55 wrote:You may have better luck in the Mint forums as it is Clem that invented cinnamon.
Sure, but i asked here first, maybe someone had same issues as me, and maybe he could help me, if i don't find answer here i will ask in Mint forums too...

  • Lion finder bugs

hi - just wanted to report some finder bugs that I hope mac developers are already addressing.
    1) apple-tab to the finder does not automatically switch to the correct desktop space where finder windows automatically open or are already open... when I apple-tab to the finder then create a new window it works, but there shouldn't be an extra step.  I'm also curious why my previous preferences for which space applications open in has been preserved with the lion upgrade but the way to edit those preferences has been taken away... troblesom since I'd previously arranged all applications to work based on a 3x3 grid with the finder opperating center at space 5... now that a grid is no longer an option I might want to re-organize and not rely on automatic re-ordering.
    2) when I choose to view folders by the various options sometimes the categories (yesterday - previous 7 days - etc) will appear as folders in a list rather than dividers.  Doesn't happen often but bugs the heck out of me when it does.  Closing and reopening the window fixes it, as well as changing to do a different organization mode and back again... a little detail - but thats what makes mac great after all.
thanks guys - overall I'm enjoying lion very much.
    a

    also...
    3) when I 4-finger shift between spaces some finder windows which are apparently stuck in limbo appear during the transition then are gone again.

  • My MacBook screen is stuck in "presentation" mode after using my "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter." How can I fix this?

My MacBook screen is stuck in "presentation" mode (I don't know the correct term) after using my Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter - meaning the screen fonts and windows are larger than usual. How can I fix this? I've changed the display settings to modify it a little, but it still doesn't look right. I reinserted the adapter numerous times and restarted my computer, it still hasn't worked. Help!

  • How do I stop my panels from being visible while in InDesign CS5's presentation mode?

Hey there, I have a quick question... So when I'm not working with two monitors I sporadically have this problem where when I enter InDesign CS5's (on a Mac) presentation mode (shift W) all of my panels (color, pages, swatches, pathfinder etc) are visible atop of the preview. Its fairly maddening because it encroaches on the actual preview of the document. I have had no luck getting it to stop doing this unless I just close my panels and reopen them all each time I exit presentation mode i.e. very inefficient. However, the weird part here is that it doesn't always do this which makes me fear that its a glitch or something... because there seems to be no correlation between this issue and InDesign settings, the file being worked on or anything else that may change moment to moment. Any input on the matter would be immensely appeciated! Thanks in advance!

I've never seen this reported before, but it's the sort of wierdness that can often be fixed by trashing the prefs. See Replace Your Preferences

  • Is there a way that I can see more than just the next slide in Presentation mode (as an old version of PowerPoint used to do)?

Is there a way that I can see more than just the next slide in Presentation mode (as an old version of PowerPoint used to do)?

Sorry - should have been more specific. As far as I can see, Keynote will only allow me to see the current slide and the next slide on my laptop when I am presenting a slideshow through a projector. But an old version of PowerPoint allowed me to show the current slide....and (adjustable) many more slides ahead (say 10)....so I could simply jump ahead to a 'future' slide and skip several slides in between. Net result being that I was able to matcgh my slides to group discussions rather than stick to a fixed, predetermined slide show.
As much as it pains me, without this facility - PowerPoint (old verson, not current one) is more useful for me! :-((

  • Getting Stuck in Presentation Mode in 5.5

Somehow managed to get into Presentation Mode and couldn't get out. No keyboard shortcut works, including Esc. I did a force quit, went back in and assigned Opt-P to Presentation Mode, but it doesn't seem to be a toggle; it gets me into it but not out. Anyone else notice this?

I stumbled over the same problem when defining my own keyboard shortcuts set (using an empty default set as the starting point), and I couldn’t leave Presentation mode.
But the solution is totally obvious (like so many things) when you think about it: It’s all about context.
I.e., if you define a keyboard shortcut that switches to Presentation mode, you are now (drum roll) in Presentation mode. Accordingly, to quit Presentation mode (i.e., switch to another mode), you need to define a shortcut for that other mode that works in the Presentation mode context.
E.g., I now have defined [F12] in the Default context to switch to Presentation mode. [F10] will switch back to Normal mode both in the Default context and Presentation context. Works like a charm.
