Finder can't shut down because copy and trash still running

I was working in pictures, deleted and moved several . . . or tried to. After about 4 hours, the boxes for each show "Preparing to move to . . ." Set to stop an now below rolling bar it says "Stopping . . " How do I get rid of these functions so I can shut down my computer. Tried escaping, quit, manually shutting down - none work. HELP.

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder, set the Processes drop down menu to All Processes, locate the Finder, select it and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar, then click on the Force Quit button.

It is also posible to go back to the imovie you had before, it is still on your computer - you go to Finder and it is in a folder in your programs. Many others have gone back to the old program, and perhaps I am also going to do that too.
In the new imovie it does not come up the question "do you want to download these videos ...."
You shall in imovie open your iphotolibrary in top on the left side,( it is standing under libraries) and you can see all the events you have in iphoto, then you can open the event, you shall use and drag the movies and pictures from the events in iphoto to an events in imovie. If you can,t see your libraries, you can click on a show button on top of the left side.
On the picture you see here iphoto is market on the top of the left side and the pictures to the left is my iphoto-events - and there I can open the one I shall use, and find my movies.

Can I shut down my PWP and replace it with a self-built website?

I'm interested in creating a page at home.comcast.net/~tyler.schultz that redirects users to another website. Is it possible to shut down the PWP, move it, or create a page that the URL goes to instead of the PWP? Or does the PWP support a redirection code in Javascript? Thanks.

Hopefully you are notifying all who are redirected to your new page for the next few months to BOOKMARK the new address as the old one will soon go "poof" thanks to Comcast once again giving us LESS service for MORE money. Problem- i can't shut down my imac, and it restarts by itself

Tried? What did the report state?
Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to shut down your computer other than trying to use the installaton dvd? Did you try to shut down through the menu? Did you try the power button?
Have you disconnect all peripherals from your computer?

Can't shut down / restart after Leopard upgrade

The installation went ok - I had to unplug all peripherals for it to reboot at the end of the install.
Now when I want to shut down or restart, it just doesn't. After a while it brings an error message that it can't shut down because an application (e.g. firefox) doesn't want to quit. Even if I close all running applications, it still comes back and says it can't close Finder (at that point, there is no menu bar on top anymore, however the application bar on bottom is still there - showing now application active. And then it just sits there. I have to push and hold the power button for it to switch off.
Anybody any idea how to fix this?

Yes. I know. If you could type everything about the problem, it would be too long for anyone to read.
Be patient, because I would like to track down where you are getting this "hang."
If you "Quit" (via command Quit) all open appications except Finder (verify this by opening the Apple icon --> Force Quit and verify that nothing except "Finder" is showing); disconnect all external firwire and USB devices; and then choose shut down, do you still get a hang?
If it still hangs, and you get the message that you can't shut down because some application will not quit, then open Aptivity Monitor (Applicaitons --> Utilities), are any of the processes listed displayed in red?
I think that the deal is that you've got an applicaiton hanging that is preventing a system shup down. I bet we can find the culprit.

When exiting firefox the GUI shuts down but firefox.exe is sill running

Firefox starts and runs fine, but when time to exit, the GUI shuts down while firefox.exe is still running using 50% of possessor resources. I have to go into Windows Task Manager under processes and end program from there. Other wise firefox.exe will continue to run using more and more memory. If I try to start FireFox, then I get "Firefox already running".
Once I shut down firefox.exe with the Task Manger, Firefox will restart and run just fine.

Plug-in and tasks started by Firefox may continue after attempting to close Firefox. The "X" in the upper right-hand corner closes the Window (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) but even if it is the last Firefox window, it does not necessarily close Firefox .
The only proper way to exit Firefox is to use Exit through the File menu, not the "X" in the upper right corner of last Firefox window.

I bought an original CRT iMac two day's before they were launched, which got the reseller into trouble, and had it replaced by APPLE.
This was a great learning process for me dealing with the glitches. :-)
I LOVE MAC. Now own 4 and on my 10th. in 15 years + 7 bought for family.

Today I tried to shutdown my computer and a window popped up saying that my computer could not shut down because the mail application was open, it wouldn't close, so I used a key combination to force mail to quit and now I can't log in. Help?

Okay, so I have been having trouble with my mail application all week. The window refused to open and would not quit. Today, I tried to shut down my mac and a pop up window told me that I was unable to shutdown because mail was open. After using a key combination, I successfully was able to quit mail with force quit. Then I was able to shut down with out a problem. However, upon rebooting, my computer refused to let me loggin. I put in my password correctly but then the rainbow pinwheel showed up and stalled for a minute and then my screen flashed and the gray screen reappeared, expecting a password. I tried turning it off and back on again with no luck. I also reset my password after reading a similar discussion, but I still can't log in. How can I fix this?

If you cannot get mail to quit/force quit, you can always remove power from your Mac.
NOTE: removing power is a bad idea, and can result in data loss, but sometimes it is the only thing left to do.
Press and hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, and the Mac will power off.
When you power back on, the Mac should reboot.

Try to "Force Quit" Safari - either under the Apple menu or by holding down option-Command-esc.

Have you tried to reset it? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can get it to reboot.

Try force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

I would instead say you have a problem since nearly all IPs work as advertised. IF you do have a bad phone, take it into an Apple store and get a replacement. Hope you didn't jailbreak your phone though as Apple probably will tell you, you broke it, you fix it.

Try doing a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
