Finder closes when I try to access shared computers

I'm running Mavericks on my late 2013 MacBook Pro. When I try to access a shared computer on my network, the Finder window closes as soon as I click on the computer I want to access. File sharing is turned on on the target computers, both iMacs, one is running Mavericks and the other is running Mountain Lion. The iMacs can access the MacBook Pro and each other without a problem. Firewall is not on on the iMac. Is there a setting I am missing

Just spoke with Craig and we got this issue resolved by accessing the user Library through finder and sending the finder preferences list to the trash.
This is done with finder opening and selecting the Go drop down menue from the top of the screen and holding OPTION on the keyboard and selecting the library that will show up in the list. After this one needs to select Preferences folder and removing com.apple.finder.plist to the trash and then restarting the device.

• Finder crashes when I try to access airport extreme 2tb

As of this afternoon when I try to access my airport extreme 2TB through Finder, Finder either crashes or becomes unresponsive. Any ideas why?

Finder crashes occur both on my MacBook Pro (4,1) and MacBook Air (2,1). There is very little in common between the hardware of the two systems except the Santa Rosa processor. One has HDD and the other SSD. One has 6GB in DDR2 memory in two dimms and one 2GB DDR3 soldered. One has an 8600M and one a 9400. One starts a bunch of apps at login and one starts nothing. And so on. Since it happens on different kinds of systems, it's definitely not a hardware problem with certain specific hardware. And I'm pretty sure I saw a report from someone with a MacPro.
I've looked at a lot of finder crash logs. A number of them seem to happen when something (memory or an object) is being freed and an error occurs. This causes an abort and the finder is killed and restarts. Not exactly a "crash". More like controlled flight into the ground. The other cases are probably not catching the error and getting seg faults, so those actually are crashes. Unfortunately, the place this happens seems to be different every time but usually related to finder or AppKit.
I suspect a memory corruption bug somewhere. I've pushed my system by opening and closing
folders, scrolling up and down, and opening and closing subfolders, and once the problem happens, it is usually reproducible for a few minutes (or a few repeats of the action that caused the crash).
Then it will often "magically" start working or a slight variation of behavior, e.g., opening a folder directly vs. using a finder window sidebar alias (or vice-versa) will work.

• Finder crashes when I try to access my Airport disk

I updated my MacBook from Leopard to Snow Leopard yesterday. I have a 1TB WD My Book External hard drive connected via USB to my Airport Extreme Base Station (802.11n). I use time machine to back up to the hard drive and also have additional archive files stored on it.
Everything worked fine with Leopard. However, ever since I installed Snow Leopard, the finder crashes every time I try to access folders within the root of my external hard drive. Once it crashes, the finder will then relaunch itself and continue to crash and relaunch until I close the window.
If I click on a shortcut to a folder located on the hard drive, it works fine. As long as I do not navigate back to the root of the hard drive, I'm able to open any file or folder without the finder crashing.
Originally, when I installed Snow Leopard, I did an update from Leopard. After this problem started, I performed a clean install, but the problem still exists. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• Finder Closes when I try to open Macintosh HD

I've just noticed this happening tonight. I did perform todays Mac Update but I don't know if they are related.
Whenever I try to open "Macintosh HD" (my boot drive) the Finder closes. Does anyone know what the solution could be?
I was able to run a "verify disk" and it said there were errors so I did a reboot to my Snow Leopard start up disk and was able to repair the errors.
This problem is still happening. I've googled everything I can think of and can't seem to find anyone else with this issue. I'd rather not have to reimage the machine.
Thanks

I tried the deleting the .DS_Store and that did't work.
Upon further research, I deleted com.apple.finder.plist and that seemed to do the trick. I'm now able to view the contents of Macintosh HD.
A couple of funny things though.

All of your computers content are available in the AppleTV section called "Computer".  This is where you will find your music.
The Music section of the AppleTV is only for those who subscribed to iTunes Match.

• Itunes has stopped working in windows 8 when I try to access itunes store

itunes seems to be working ok, but when i try to access the itunes store, i get a message that itunes has stopped working correctly and windows will close the program.  i have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes several times (the recommended long way, which uninstalls all apple programs), but i still have the same problem.  someone please help so i can access the itunes store!!!

Exact same thing is happening to me. Couldn't find where to view the Itunes version number after a quick look. I hate the "simplified" interface by the way. On windows 8.1. Really starting to hate itunes, very buggy, and apple device locked down content (I'm looking at you TV shows and Movies) make it a pain to use.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
* Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

• Error Code 0x80070035 shows when I try to Access Windows XP machine from Windows8/Windows7

Error Code 0x80070035 shows when I try to Access Windows XP machine from Windows8/Windows7. in my PC i m installed windows8 and used primary and secondary IP. Primary is used for Access my Domain/Internet and secondary IP is used for access my VPN and
there is no internet on VPN. VPN is only used for my Head Office Appication. After i give secondary IP to my windos8/windos7 PC the Active network status changed to private network and not able to acces windows XP machines. Please Advice...

Hi,
This error means that the Network path was not found. Was Windows XP locating in the same network as the secondary IP on Windows 8/7?
Please try the solution below.  Use the IP address of the target computer, not the computer name.
1) Find out what the target computer's IP address is.  It is desirable to give the target computer a static private IP address, for example, 192.168.1.10, so it does not change.  Use the local windows help when sitting in front of the target computer
to do this if you don't know how.
2) When sitting in front of the Windows 7 computer you want to access the target computer from, open Windows Explorer and in the address bar type \\ followed by the target computer's static address, for example,\\192.168.1.10 and hit enter.
If the target computer uses username/password sharing, after a few seconds you will be prompted for credentials.  Enter the same username and password employed to log on to the target computer when you are sitting in front of it.
The target computer will be added to the Windows 7 computer's Network list, appearing as an IP address instead of a computer name.  Then you can access its shares just as if it were listed by name instead of by number.

• My browser closes when I try to manage my account

My browser closes when I try to manage my account

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Regards

When i open iphoto and open the folder thats on it, i can see ALL the photos that are there but when I click on different ones some appear in the larger screen but A LOT of them dont appear. • HT1473 I am trying to upload my itunes music from my ipod to my computer.  My current Itunes library is listing the songs, but cannot find them when I try to put them on to my iphone.

I am trying to upload my itunes music from my ipod to my itunes on my computer.  My itunes music lists all of the music, but cannot find it when I try to load it to my phone.
The songs are on my ipod, but not on my phone and I don't know how to get them from one device to the other.

In your case, it would be better to have transferred the library to an external drive from the PC. Then, connect it to the iMac and put the library onto the Music folder.
You used Migration Assistant, and it creates a new user with the transferred data.
Open  > Log Out, and log in the new user. Then, open a Finder window, choose Music in the sidebar and you will see the iTunes library. Now, you have to move the iTunes library to /Users/Shared (select Go menu -in the menu bar- > Go to Folder, type that and copy the iTunes library to it). Finally, log in the other user, go to the same folder and move the library to the Music folder.
After doing that, open System Preferences > Users and Groups, choose the user created by Migration Assistant and press the - button to remove it. This is easier if you have an external drive
