Finder COVERflow? Is it really COVERflow, or ICONflow?

In iTunes, I can see my album COVERS and my dvd COVERS, hence the name....COVERflow.
But with COVER?flow in Finder, all I can see are ICONS!!!!
For example, I have a folder called MOVIES. In this folder are my movies (I'm simple, like that). Now, I also have a folder of dvd covers. I want to attach my dvd covers to my movie files, so that when I'm viewing in COVERflow, all my dvd COVERs flow by!!!!
In iTunes, it's just a simple matter of selecting Get Info / Artwork / Add Artwork.
But in Finder there is no such option...... or is there????????

Hi
What it seems to show is a frame from a few seconds into the movie. On my older Mac, I can open a folder containing just a handful of WMV files and it will take up to twenty seconds to replace each generic icon with a content specific icon. Presumably it's loading QuickTime (and Flip4Mac) transparently in the background, opening each movie file, capturing a frame and replacing the file's icon. In the end I switched it off via View Options - Show Icon Preview, as it resulted in a significant amount of CPU activity on my older Mac.
I guess one work around for you may be to switch off icon preview, so you only see the icons, then customise each icon with the relevant DVD cover. Via Get Info, you can highlight a file's icon and paste one of your choice in. I guess you'd need to convert each DVD cover into icon format, I'm not sure whether GraphicConverter would work. Perhaps you could just copy each DVD cover file icon (with icon preview switched on, so the icon represents the cover) and paste it over each DVD movie file icon (with icon preview switched off). It's not ideal though!

No app on the iPod is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • How to find if a program really exists in the system?

    Hi,
I want to find the existing  programs in the system by an abap program. Which table should I use? TADIR or TRDIR? I have seen that there can be cases like a program doesn't exist in the system (se38 says so) but there is an entry in TADIR table.
What about trdir? Should I use TRDIR?
    Thanks in advance..
    MERAL

Thanks for your replies but my main problem is :
" I have seen that there can be cases like a program doesn't exist in the system (se38 says so) but there is an entry in TADIR table." .
In order to find an abap program really exists in the system, I plan to look at both tables, tadir and trdir, and if I find the program in both tables, I will decide that it really exists.
Is it a right approach? What do you think?

  • Finder Arrange by Kind - Disable Coverflow/Show All by Default?

I have Finder set to Arrange by Kind and sort by name in OS X 10.7 and it's much better than on Snow Leopard with one exception.  Folders are shown first (which I love) and the icons are shown in groups (which I love), but the groups by default are in sort of a Coverflow orientation that forces you to scroll left/right to see all of the files/folders.  There are "Show All" buttons for each group, but OS X doesn't remember when you've chosen to Show All.
I was wondering if anyone knew of an option or way to get Finder to "Show All" in each category by default.  If I could get this to happen I would finally have my ultimate Finder configuration.  Thanks.

Here is a partial solution to this issue.
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/19019/how-do-i-get-rid-of-the-sub-headi ngs-in-finder-with-arrange-be-date-created-in
In the very least, It allows you to select 'none' which takes the display arrangement back to how it was with Snow Leopard. Then when you want to sort the contents of any folder by name/date modified etc, use "View/Clean Up By" options from the task bar. This allows sorting of folder contents by date modified WITHOUT coverflow, but also without the today/yesterday/last week separations. Not exactly the perfect answer to Iwata's question, but works for me. I love cover flow in iTunes, but for browsing folders? No sir, I don't like it.

  • Might buy iPhone, but can't find app that I really need

I am looking for an app to replace what I currently use on my blackberry.
I need a calling card dialing application that will allow me to dial normally or using one of my 2 calling cards. I use both google voice and ringcentral, so I need to be able to select which one I want to dial out with after dialing the number from the normal dialing screen. I don't want to have to dial out through a special application based on which card I need to dial out with. Nor do I want to have to switch the calling card to active before I dial because I switch back and forth between the three dialing methods all day long.
This is a real problem because I need to get a new phone and I can't stand blackberry anymore! I hope someone can help!

I hate BB, I'm done with RIM. And actually, I just bought a Droid X last night. I searched for 10 hours for an app on android and couldn't find anything. So, I'm actually considering taking the Droid X back and getting an iphone instead. I really want to keep the droid, but my business needs must come ahead of my geeky needs.
    Anyway.....Just found this.
    http://callingcard.marigoholdings.com/Welcome.html
It has a GUI that looks exactly like the native phone app, and you can call from there with an interception asking which calling card to use. Exactly what I wanted. The only downside is that it uses the native phone to call out so you must switch back to this one after every call. And the call log in the real phone shows the calling card number, while the destination number is only visible in the 3rd party dialer. Not a huge problem to me, it's much better than anything on android. Plus, we are an all mac household so the iphone makes a lot of sense. I'll bet this app will be out for android one day really soon, but I need a phone now.

  • Finder quits before ever really starting

I was on an airplane this morning (flight from tokyo to washington dc - worst trip youll ever take.. especially with the following), and upon starting up my macbook the second time during the flight, the finder icon would display the triangle under it for a short amount of time then disappear, and i cannot do anything about it. The time i started it up just previously it did have to manually shut off the computer, because microsoft word (i know, i know) locked it up.
The macbook is only a few weeks old, and i also have applecare on it.
I ran a disc repair from the install disc, but it said there were no errors to be fixed.
I tried booting it up in firewire disc target mode or something like that, connected to my ibooko g4, and the ibook said that there was no findable version of Mac OSX on the drive.
Can anyone help me?? If you need any more details, this is all I can think of right now, but please feel free to ask.

Applications are made up of one or more threads, which are like independent workers that help the application do what it needs to do. One of those workers, or threads, will be the one that crashed, like the line in bold above. We need all the information of that thread up until the next thread that didn't crash. (In the case above, it was the .zip handler of the Stuffit contextual menu item that caused the Finder to crash).
If in doubt, just paste the whole thing (or as much as will fit).

  • Cannot find symbol error.. really stuck.

I have a class named Rectangle.java. It is in a package "Geometry" together with Point.java and Line.java. But when I try to use Rectangle.java in my main program, MyRect.java, it gives me a "cannot find symbol" error, particularly the methods and sometimes the variables. I tried compiling just my Rectangle class and it compiled fine.. And I tried the Line and Point classes on another program and it works fine... well probably because the Line and Point classes are from a book(Ivor Horton's Beginning Java 2).. I am just starting out in Java. :)

  • Somebody accidently unplugged my External Hard drive from my computer without going to the interface and clicking on eject first. I got the whole "you may have data loose" message. How do I find out if I really lost any files?

That's pretty much it. Wanted to know if there is maybe a program or something that can let me know what the last things that got deleted is?

That is a general statement that is always made when any device is not ejected, not a specific one about your hard drive. All you can do is plug it back in and hope it works. There is good chance nothing will be lost.
There is no ready technique available to you to check the details of all of your files, you will just have to assume  they are all there.
Unplugging a drive like that without ejecting it is most likley to affect a file when it is still being written to such as a large (media) file that takes some time to write. If nothing was being written in that split second it was unplugged, it is highly likely nothing will be damaged or lost.

  • Coverflow blocks video podcast viewing

In iTunes 6, I would watch a video podcast like DL.TV, by double clicking it in the playlist. If I wanted full screen, I would double click the tiny video window. That changed in iTunes7, now when I double click the video, I get an overlay pop-up window of the video, what happened to my full screen functionality? Oh OK, so Apple wants me to use Ctrl-F to get a full screen video. Fine and dandy, I can learn new tricks. Now, in iTunes 7.1, instead of giving me fullscreen video, it gives me full screen coverflow, when I really just wanted to watch a video podcast. So I hit Ctrl-F a second time and get the full screen video. Then I have to hit Esc key once to go back to cover flow, and again to get back to my playlist. Why is this getting harder and harder? Where's the option to disable fullscreen coverflow?

  • Coverflow not updating info?

I'm trying find a way to "force" coverflow to update the info it displays. I recently updated my music library, changing lower case "the" to upper case ("The Fall" as opposed to "the Fall", for example) and, while the info updates in the Sorting and Info windows, it will not update in coverflow. Cleaning caches and restarting didn't help; any ideas?

will getting rid of those delete all the album art I spent so much time hunting down?
No, you won't loose any album art.
The 'Local' folder only contains cached pictures (copies) which are shown in Cover flow and List View grouped with artwork.
By deleting this folder you force iTunes to (re)scan all the song files and copy the pictures from the songs (one per album) to the 'Local' folder.
Don't delete the 'Download' folder which is also in the 'Album Artwork' folder.
The 'Download' folder contains pictures which are downloaded from the iTunes Store (by 'Get Album Artwork).
Other pictures you downloaded yourself and added to the tracks, are attached to the song file (tagged).

  • Renaming Files In Finder Makes Cover Flow Move!

    Hi,
In Finder in Tiger, you used to be able to rename a file by selecting it, pushing return, then using the left and right cursor keys on the keyboard to move left and right through the file name. However, in Leopard this doesn't work. Instead of moving the text entry point through the file name, the cursor keys make cover flow move from left to right. So, my question is, how are you supposed to edit your file names?

This works fine for me. Open Finder window. Switch to Coverflow view. Click on a filename at the bottom. Press Return (filename is selected). Press left and right arrow keys ... cursor moves through filename allowing editing.
Not sure what your issue could be. Keyboard issue? Do the arrow keys work correcly in other windows/applications?
