Finder folder password lock

ive combed mac help and the apple downloads site and i cant find a program that can simply password protect just one folder in finder.
as anyone got any suggestions?
just a program so when you click on the protected folder it askes for a password.

Another alternative is to create an encrypted disk image.
Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility.app. Click "New Image", specify a save location (say, desktop), and choose "AES-128 Encryption" at the bottom of the screen.
You will see a mounted disk on the desktop. You can then drag anything (files or folders) you want protected into the mounted disk. When you have finished, simply eject the mounted disk (by moving it to the trash).
Your files or folders will be saved inside the disk image (xxxxx.dmg) on the desktop, with password protection.
This is slightly more complicated. But secure!

Work out what password you set, or restore the device. Assuming your media is in your library this takes some time but isn't otherwise difficult. If you've manually managed the iPod without keeping the media in your library you now know why this is not a good idea. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Off hand I don't know if the various media recovery tools or techniques work with a password locked iPod classic, but quite possibly not.

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Security' and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within, I think, about 24 to 48 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox)

The phone will only show it's location if it is connected to cellular network or Wi-Fi. If those options are switched off, you can't locate the phone.

now i'm migrating some database from old server to new sql server
but i forgot my SA password on my old server (sql2000)and no one has sys admin access
can any one help me how do i get sa password

You cannot find SA password as a fact you cannot see any password for SQL server its hashed. Below article would help you in logging in SQL server when all administrators are locked out I am not sure whether it will work in SQL server 2000 as I barely remember

In SQL server 2005 if started with -m option any user who is member of Built in administrator ( or added as admin in local windows account) can connect regardless of whether the BUILTIN\Administrators group has been granted a server login that is provisioned

Do you have any other login which is member of sysadmin. I cannot find a reason to shutdown SQL Server what if its a production DB ( yes I know few SQL 2000 which are still production) use backup restore to move databases always.

How can I get past the password locked login without the password

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted from the disc, the USB device, or Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to authorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

Finder requires password deleting files

Hey guys, finder requires password when I try to delete my files. I have read some of the suggestions on how to fix this online. That includes
1. Open up Terminal and type in 'sudo chown yourusernamehere .Trash' and the other one is

Thanks I got rid of it. It wasn't in the App World like all the other apps were that I downloaded. I had to delete it with my desktop software. I think that was a it wasn't listed so that it couldn't be overriden by anyone that may find the phone. Thanks for you time aiharkness! Have a great weekend

I need it so when you open the folder you're immediately prompted to enter a password, without even being able to see the folder's contents.

You don't.
The password is on the encrypted disk image.
Any folders that you wish to have password protected you place in the encrypted disk image.

Removing password lock from enterprise email account

I have left my last company that had an enterprise email account. When implemented, they put a password lock on my Blackberry which requires me to log in every 5 or 10 minutes if not being used. I have contacted them, IT support is in India, and requested they remove this along with the email. After many calls, it appears my email is gone but the password lock is not.
Thye said it was up to my carrier (Verizon) to remove, Verizon says they have no access to this and it is the user's employer to remove it.
My last conversation with the IT department was they told me to do a complete erase of the Blackberry which would remove all contacts and saved email, something I am reluctant to do because if I do this and then restore everything using the BB utilities, I assume the same password block will return.
Any suggestions? There's nothing on the BB I can find to remove email accounts and there is a padlock icon at the password setup area.

Finding safari passwords in time-machine

hello,
I re-installed mij mac book pro laptop. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to find mij passwords in mij keychain? i dont want to use a full back-up made bij time machine. is there a way that i can get all mij passwords back?

Keychains are in two locations:
System keychain is in /Library/Keychains/ folder
User keychain is in /Home/Library/Keychains/ folder
You can either copy these folders from your backup to their corresponding locations in your OS X system installation or you can copy their content into the corresponding folders. Afterwards I suggest you repair permissions then do a restart. Of course it's essential that the current user account you are now using be the same username and have the same password.

How to launch a finder with password requested, not using sudo in terminal

I would like to have a finder with password requested in Mac like we move the the driver in /System/Library/extensions folder to trash by command lines. Using "sudo delete" in terminal will have the DOS-style and not good-looking for users. That is, I would like to have the GUI with password by some commands(or scripts) before I removing the driver.

You shouldn't be doing anything with system files. Those don't belong to you. If you need to install or update software in /Library, create an installer package. It will run as root, after prompting for administrator credentials.

HT1766 where do I find the password to that unlocks my iPhone backup?

I tried to sync my iPhone4 this morning and it is now locked and I had to restore it and back it up and its asking for a password....???
I only wanted to sync my pictures, contacts and update apps.....NOT Restore my phone!

Password lock powering down phone

Is there any app to set a password lock so my iPhone can not be turned off with out it?? I've recently had a phone stolen and the find my iPhone app is pretty much useless because they can just turn off the phone
