Finder Force Close
Last night I turned off my computer completely. As soon as I turned it back on it takes at least 10 minutes to turn on then I get the error message "Finder quit unexpectedly while using the Web core plug-in". I've tried safe mode, reseting Pram and scanning and fixing permissions but nothing has made a dent. Any suggestions are appreciated
If you do not have a backup, create one now. Post back if you need instructions.
Did you install or update any software on the 21st? If so that would lead down a software path. If not, it could be a disk problem.
Run an Apple Hardware Test

Boot in Recovery Mode. (Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts.) Run Disk Utility. Click on the upper left system disk icon. Does S.M.A.R.T. report “Verified”? If not the disk is failing and will need to be replaced. Click on the icon underneath and indented to the right, usually called “Macintosh HD”. Repair Disk. It should finish normally with a green OK message. If it does not try to repair it again.
If it will not finish with the green OK message then use Disk Utility to erase the drive and then reinstall OS X. (Be sure you have a backup before erasing the disk. Post back if you need instructions on how to do that.)
If it repaired all errors and is still not booting normally, reinstall OS X.
If it is still sick after all these steps then the disk probably needs to be replaced. You can do that inexpensively and fairly easily yourself or take it to an Apple store for them to do it for you at a higher cost. If it is still under warranty or AppleCare have Apple do it for you for free. You may want to have Apple check the health of the system and disk before replacing the disk yourself. Post back if you need instructions on testing if it is a disk cable issue and/or replacing the disk.

Having the exact same issue. Also, on right click, many apps freeze/beachball and must force close. Additionally, uTorrent and Transmission are not operating correctly-uTorrent constantly beachballing and unresponsive. Right-click freezes with everything from Word to iMovie. Takes way too much time to do anything, and lots of cursor freezing, here is a sys log excerpt:

That killed the hard drive, so I got a new hard drive and had the Apple Store install Lion on it, then used Migration Assistant to bring files over. Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7.
I posted on here about this a few weeks back and someone suggested force-closing Pages -- and that does indeed enable me to open things -- but I have had to force-close many times in the last 24 hours, which is worrying. Are there any other suggestions?
I am sometimes also finding that, when I have been writing something and then click on "documents" the screen goes blank, there is a wait of around a minute and then the same document is re-displayed, before clicking "documents" again lets me look at other documents -- which is a pain if I am trying to move between documents repeatedly. Again, words of wisdom on this would be great.
Pages under iOS6 opened quickly, and there was an immediate loss of performance when I upgraded. I am finding this very frustrating because I don't feel that the new Pages has added to the facilities I was using, but a slowness to open documents is frustrating.

What is the process to "force close" a pdf that has opened in a separate browser opened by PeopleSft
PeopleSoft opens a new browser window to view a report from the application. When the PeopleSoft session closes, is there a process to force close the PDF as well?

So are you closing all the web browser instances or not? Or are you just closing out of PeopleSoft? If it’s the latter and only PeopleSoft then Acrobat will remain open and the web browser should maintain the session cookies if I remember correctly. It’s IE that is hanging on to the session information if we are embedded in the web browser. If you want to force close IE then you need to do it through and IE JavaScript API. Firefox crashes and can't scroll anymore unless I force close the browser.
I'm on a Mac OSX and after I start firefox, I go to Youtube, and then the video starts lagging. After that, I can't scroll up or down. In that case, I have to force close firefox and it works again. A few hours later, the same thing happens. When I re-open, it shows the, "Well this is embarrasing screen."

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:

Finder window closes as soon as it opens
I have some recovered data that has been giving me problems. After copying the folder back to a rebuilt MBP, the finder window closes immediately upon opening that folder. Any ideas on what exactly is corrupt or forcing this window to close?
MBP 17, 10.8.2I guess if this were happening to me, I would suspect that one or more files in that folder is sufficiently corrupted to kill the Finder. I would create a new folder and, using Terminal and its mv command, move files one by one into the new folder, testing to see if the original folder can be opened after each step. Others may have better plans....

hi there, i have major problems with itunes freezing on my mac Mini, its okay for the first minute or two then it freezes and i get the spinning colour wheel and i have to force close.
can anyone help?I suspect that you'll have to mount that volume at boot time and not at login time as you're doing now. If you can arrange that, then the volume should be available to all users.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do a boot-time mount. I tried searching for "mount drive startup mac" (without the quotes), but most of the results described how to mount a volume at login time. Ignore any advice that mentions "Login Items".
I did find this discussion, but it's very sketchy. You also have to be careful that any advice you find applies to the version of OS X that you're using. -
itunes is always crashing, it uses huge amounts of ram and anytime i reboot i am need to force close itunes...is this normal or do i have a problem? thanks to everyone

Messaging/Email Force Close after Update
I am having issues with both messaging and email after the update this morning. Both of the apps are force closing. For messaging, it force closes when I try to send a text, and for email, it force closes when I open an email. Anyone else having issues? I have cleared the cache, and rebooted my phone twice. Any suggestions? I cannot get through to Verizon for assistance.

Copying indicator causes force close during execution
I'm not sure if this action is frowned upon but when I need a new control or indicator I often copy and paste existing ones instead of dragging them from the pallete. Of course I rename the new ones. This has not presented a problem for me until this past weekend. I had made some minor changes to some code that included adding two additional charts. The new charts are identical to the existing ones except they get data from a different column of an array. After adding the charts the program would run for 2-3 minutes and force close Labview. After ~1 day of debugging I found that if I left the charts in question unwired the program ran fine. But wiring them up caused a crash.
I solved the problem by deleting the new charts and dragging new ones from the palette. Now the program does not crash.
Any comments? Is this a bug? Or bad programming on my part?

DaveI have read about an occational curpted control leading to a crash with the fix being to delete and replace it.
The other factor that could come into play is the "default" data for the chart.
If you found this in a recnet version of LV and you have backups from before the change and can recreate the crash, then by all means pass it along to NI so they can witness all of the glory of LV crumbling themselves and get it fixed of course.
Speaking only for myself, I do not find your method of copying a control bad at all. It is less time consuming than create custom controls which is what is recomended if you are dropping the same type of control often.

IPhone 4 repeated force-close of apps
A few days ago when my girlfriend was using her iPhone 4, suddenly any app she opened would force close. Sometimes her music app would open on its own. No matter what she tried to do (reboot, backup and restore) the apps would continuely crash roughly 10-30 seconds after opening them. We went to the Apple store to have the Genius bar take a look at it. First they advised to restore and set up as a new device...we tried that, to no avail. Upon returning to the store a second time, they replaced her phone with a new device. When she got home and restored her backup the problems began occuring again.
Currently we are at the idea that her backup is corrupted and she should just start from scratch. The problem with that is I would still like to find out if it is an app that is causing the corrupted backup and if backups can be recovered. The most important thing is I want to find out if there is something that can be done that she doesn't loose anything/everything.Backups can be recovered by date, but it can be a bit picky (error filled) if you do one from too far back (probably around early 2012 due to the iOS 5.1 to 5.1.1 update).
The best thing to do is just restore your new phone fresh, erasing all settings. Backup the phone before you do this. Then add your content piece by piece. -
TS1702 Pages app keeps forcing close
My pages app for ipad forces close when I try to create or open a document. Is anyone else having this problem? I am having trouble figuring it out and getting frustrated that my $10 app will not work for me. I have tried deleting the App and reinstalling and restarting the whole ipad. Nothin has worked and I can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

Google play force close on open
I just got a slightly used HP touch pad and on setup realized that I needed to use Google play to download apps, after setting up my Google account and singing in insuring wifi access ......Google play opens says "server error retry" and force closes the program. Since then I have done some research factory reset the tablet, installed latest updates, force closed through app settings and erased all info for Google play reset the I connection rebooted several times, and made sure time date and location were correct. I am still experiencing the same problem with the app. If anybody has any ideas that might help me it would be highly appreciated :-)

The HP TouchPad comes with webOS installed as its operating system. Yours has been modified to add Android to it, and as such we don't officially support this type of change to the device.
That said, there is an app existing called "gapps_fixer.zip" existing in the wild. This may or may not solve your problem.
If you are unfamiliar with hacking this device, or how CM9 or CM10 was installed on it, it may require some research on your part to learn how to fix the issue. Visit the "Android on the TouchPad" section of webosnation.com for some insight.
