Finder from inside apps...
Hi! I know this is going to be a really easy answer for someone, but my Google searches are not turning up anything so here goes:
When I open files from inside apps, like photoshop for example, they sort by "Today, 2013, 2012, etc" no matter what! I cannot see all my files unless I use a finder window. It's unbearably annoying. How do I stop it!?

Thanks for the question. It sounds like you wish to change the order that your files are arranged in a Finder window. You can do so from the arrange menu:

If you have a credit card entered, you need to confirm the payment information. Once you do that, the iTunes Store should then charge your credit balance for purchase until that balance is used up.

Does Air allow file downloads/transfers to desktop from inside app?
Hello,
I am looking into writing an air application that I intend to put onto a usb thumb drive. If a Mac or Pc user plugged the said usb drive into their computer, would the user of the app be able to easily download/transfer files directly onto their desktop from the app with a push of a button?
Secondly, would I be able to display a progress bar showing how much time is left in the download/transfer?
Lastly, if Air is bad choice for this, does anybody have any other recomendations?
Thank you all in advance!Yes if you build your app with captive runtime you can put it on a thumb drive and copy anything anywhere you want.
You cannot get the progress of any given file's copyTo(), it does not support that event. However if you have lots of files, you could simply count them and average. The progress bar won't be compeltely accurate, but even on the native OS those progress bars are always wrong. (like windows knows how long that folder copy is really going to take...) You could also try to do something tricky like use File.download() from a URLRequest built on file://, but I'm not sure it would work. If you played around with it, you probalby could.
If you have enough files, just count the files and make the progress bar be a % of the number of files transferred.
Also remember to copyToAsync() so that it runs in the background and your progress bar is smooth.
EDIT: please note that a captive runtime will be windows or mac specific (and wont run at all on linux). As a result if you need to give your thumb drive to people with both OS's you'll have to bulid your application twice. Also you'll have to have access to both a windows machine and a mac to do that, since you cannot publish for mac on windows and vice-versa. -
Can't see directories on HDD connected to Airport Timecapsule from inside apps.
I've set up an Airport Timecapsule 2Tb and connected an Hitachi external HDD to it. Everything was working fine and mostly still is. I can see the files on the HDD from all my Macbooks and iMacs on the wifi network if I use Finder. However, if I use a finder embedded within an app (e.g. Excel or Word) I can see the HDD but when I click on it the directories aren't visible. This was working the other day, but all of a sudden has stopped working. Finder on its own still works fine, I can see all my directories. I'm running Mavericks.
Also, if in Excel for example, I click on Save As or something, the finder window pops open, I click on the HDD but I can't see the directories. However, if I select a previously visited directory from my histories list the directory is displayed and the files and sub-directories within it are all there.
Something seems to have gone wrong in the configs. Can anyone help as at the moment I have to Save As files to a random directory in my history, then open finder and move the file to where I actually wanted it on the HDD?

Will not install from inside App Manager
Got past the A12E5 error, now with the Adobe Application Manager installed it will not download the any software for install.
Is there a place to download them alternativly and use the App Manager to approve/activate and install?

Tried similar in Windows 7 with no effect. Also tried Adobe Creative Suite cleaner tool via http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html It installs ok on my laptop, so doesn't appear to be a location issue, but will not install on my workstation. Manual installation of AAM completes but after typing in user/pass it says 'download error, contact customer service'. Photoshop CS6 beta installed and functioned ok and I had CS4. Tried uninstalling both, same issues. Adobe Lightroom 3.6 is still installed and functions.
I also tried someone's suggestion of installing the trial of something so it would install the Akamai Netsession download manager. This completes and when I launch the AdobeApplicationManager.exe I can see it spawn Netsession which then hangs and can be killed initially, but zombies for a while ( cannot be killed ). I made my own Apple ID because when I was logged into my dad's my family was receiving my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dad's "find my iphone" app but without signing into his Apple ID on my phone because that was causing them to get my texts. I was told by Apple I could add my device to his by signing into icloud.com but there is no option that I can find to add my device. And I don't want to log back in to his.. Any ideas???
Also when I apply the safety copy it only imports the app the phones have had in common, so none of the apps that only the iPhone 4 had doesn't come in, only the ones I and the iPhone 4 has had in common. So you say the only way I can use the Apple ID to download on the old iPhone 4 is if I delete the apps that are in the phone and then download them again? How will that change the ID to download/update from. Won't it still have mine to update/download from?

After upgrading to Yosemite I have lost iPhoto. It has a cross through it in Finder, but I clicked on it and I was directed to download the latest version from the App store, but it is not available in the Australian store. Can anyone please help? I am not an advanced user and I would like my photos back, having had no idea I would lose iPhoto in the upgrade!
Thanks petermac87...but for some reason, the only purchases showing are OS. So assuming iPhoto is in Mountain Lion, I was hoping to look under Hidden Items there as you suggested, but there is no option for that. Only option is to download Mountain Lion again, not iPhoto specifically. Any ideas welcome!

ThanksIf you haven't already, do Settings > iCloud and turn off Find My iPhone. You will have to supply your Apple ID and password.
Then do Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings to make the iPhone appear as if it just came out of the box. -
just bought macbook pro and want to download purchases I have already made from itunes apps but when it says downloaded can't find it. I have run a search and found it in my mac but unable to open or do anything?? Do not understand what is happening.

Not sure if that same Application is designed for Mac Os x, Search for Applications on App Store instead of iTunes on your Macbook Pro, as Applications available on iTunes Store on a Macbook is designed to work only on iOS Device like iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and whatever is available on App Store on Mac is designed for Mac Os x. -
I want to transfer an audiobook and a movie from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4S, and can't figure out how. I went to "Help" and it said after connecting the two devices I should "Click Apps," but I can't find anything labeled "Apps" to click. Help?!!
If you have iTunes 11 on your Mac then you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S, that might make it easier to navigate.
Connect the phone to your Mac and select it on that left-hand sidebar, and on the right-hand side of the screen there should be a series of tabs which you can use to select what to sync to the phone. If it's an audiobook then it should appear on the Books tab for selecting/syncing, and films will be on the Movies tab. When you've got the audiobook on your phone you should get an Audiobooks option in the Music app (you might need to tap the '...' tab at the bottom of the Music app to see it). -

I accidentally erased my phone from Find my Iphone App and I have a sim lock on my phone - now it wont let me restore. any ideas?

App.open not responding if called from inside onclick()
Hi all.
Working on a script for InDesign CC 2014 I found this problem : if I call app.open() from inside button.onclick() it stops and nothing happens. Since I'm a beginner with Javascript I'm probably doing something wrong, but I can not figure out where I'm wrong. If executed without onclick it works....
There is another method to achieve the same result?
As my project is still under construction, I place only the portion of code relating to the problem.
I hope someone can help me, I can not get out of this hitch.
