Today Apple posted a "Pro Tip of the Week" that says...
FTP Files Without a Third-Party Program
"Need to email somebody a file that’s larger than his 5MB email limit? Use FTP, because you can upload huge files with no restriction. You probably already knew that, but did you know that you don’t have to buy a third-party FTP client to FTP your files? That’s right baby, you can do it right from within Tiger. Here’s how: Go to the Finder’s Go menu, and choose Connect to Server. When the dialog appears, just type the FTP address where you want the file to go and click Connect. You may either get directly connected, or depending on whose server you’re connecting to, it may ask you for your Name and Password (that keeps people from just jumping on anyone’s server and uploading files at random).
Once you’re “in,” you’ll see a folder — now you can just drag-and-drop the file you want to transfer into that folder and the transfer will begin."

What the ****??? We spent months debating in the old thread why it's perfectly acceptable to not allow the Apple user to upload via FTP even when they have a login/pw. Now Apple publishes a pro tip saying that you can drag and drop files into a FTP location.
NO YOU CAN NOT.
I am logged into MY own FTP server via the finder and I can only see and GET my files... I am still not allowed to PUT or DELETE them.
Was this fixed in 10.4.10? I'm running 10.4.10.
Is the Apple Pro Tip wrong?

I remember you from the other thread. I'm glad you joined this one too.
My previous objection to Finder FTP being "read-only" hasn't changed.
However, the publication of this "Tip of the Week" by Apple only aggravates my frustration over this silly issue.

Could not find used public part

Hi all,
I created a new product in the composite designer with a few Visual Composer Interfaces.
Because our context model changed, I deleted the existing UI, and created a new VC UI (generated from a Process model)
When I want to build everything, I get the exception:
ERROR: Check for used DCs failed: Could not find used public part "40dbb712586011df82d500059a3c7800" of test.com/product/ui/vc (PRODUCT_SC) : Used public part not available (Used public part not available)
Build failed with errors.
Apparantly the guid from the old VC UI was not completly removed.
I found that GUID back in files:
.dcdef
PublicPartFileList.xml
and changed those to the new guid.
But still having the same problem...
Can I change this in another simple way?

Hi Hans,
could you switch to the Development Infrastructure perspective and open the view called Component Properties for the VC DC? Most likely the generated public part is still present. I guess you can simply delete it as the corresponding component has been deleted as well.
This public part should be present for the DC of type "Visual Composer Composition Unit Interface".
Which version of the NWDS are you using? I think what I´m describing is actually only a workaround, but would think that the pulblic part deletion should have happened automatically.

How to find all the parts used from stock for 1 machine

Dear Sap community,
I'm trying to find all the spare components that are used for 1 specific machine.
If I look in the work orders under components it only gives the components that are orderd.
But I would like to find the components that come out of stock. I asked the stockkeeper and he said he writes it all in the work orders but we can't find it back.
It would be nice to just find it on the work order but it would be easier if I could just choose a machine and then find all the spare parts used from stock.
So my question is can I find all the spare parts used for 1 machine or just find the spare parts in the work order?

Just so I understand your problem, you are having difficulties locating the Restrictions section in the Settings app. Under Settings --> General If you scroll down half way then you should spot "Restrictions" under "Auto-Lock" and above "Date & Time". If you still cannot find the setting then it is possible you may have a remote management configuration profile installed restricting you from access those groups of settings.

How do I find the Marketing Part Number for iLife '11 so I can register the product

I want to register my iLife '11 but I can't find the Marketing Part Number as I only have the disk. How can I find this number so I can reqister my copy?

You don't need to register iLife. Registeing iLife would get your just emails from Apple regarding their products. It's not needed. Anyway, the iLife 11 boxed disc is now a discontinued and unsupported product.

If you lose or forget a restriction passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it. Make sure to import your photos and manually backup your device prior to processing these steps.

RegEx: How to find out which part of the pattern failed?

Hi there,
I was wondering: is there any way to find out where the pattern matching failed?
Say I got the string "John Paul Yoko Ringo", and I want to match it against the pattern /John Paul George Ringo/.
I would like to know something like "pattern failed at index 11", or if I had groups something like "matching group 3 failed".
Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance!

I wonder if that is reasonable. It means that the parse tree for the regex would need to keep mapping information.
At a minimum it is going to require an array, not a single result, because a regex can 'fail' in many ways.
Consider the following regex with the following input
/(a|b)d/
abababababx
Where does it 'fail'?Right. If you just want the character position at which it failed, those tools might tell you that as part of a bigger picture. But by itself, without any context, that number's not necessarily meaingful. A given character can be examined many times due to backtracking. Part of the expression could succeed for part of the input, then the expression might fail for the rest, so we backtrack, and may get several more failures, then more partial successes, all at different points, then ultimately it may fail anywhere within the input.
So just knowing where isn't enough. You need to know what steps were taken to get there. I do think these tools provide that, though I haven't looked closely.

How do i find my Apple Parts Numbers for my Macbook Pro?

I have a macbook pro, 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. Model number is A1212.
I was wondering how I could find out what the correct apple part number is for a replacement top case. (the place where you put the keyboard).
I have no problem replacing the case, I just need to know what the part number is.
I also have another top case that I ordered off ebay and I would like to know how to find the correct apple part number for that case as well.

Unwanted query execution before adding Find page restrictions

When the JHS (10.1.2.1.27) application I made is started, the whole table content is queried without restrictions BEFORE the Find page has loaded.
Because it's a fair amount of data, I get out of memory messages.
I have used 2 specific settings that are related to this:
1) Property "Use Table Range?" has been turned off
2) Query Bind Parameters are used
Looking in the log files I noticed the following:

It seems that the bind parameters get initialized in some kind of way at startup.
This is detected as a change in value apparently, after which the query execution is triggered.
So far so good. The problem is that my main query restriction is not related to any of the query bind parameters.
Because the Find page has not been loaded yet, this mandatory restriction has not been added to the searchBean yet and will therefore not be added to the view object's where clause.
The result is that all table records will be queried.
My question: Is there any way to prevent the query to be executed before the Find page has loaded?

Have you tried setting the group checkbox "Auto Query?" to unchecked? This should prevent the query from executing before the find page is loaded.

I was able to find a solution
I built a new dataset in report builder using the same table as before but tried out the "Group and Aggregate" function and for the case_ship
field I chose "Sum" as my aggregate.... In essence this gave me a very cool and easy daliy sum of the shipped cases.
When I used this new dataset and built my matrix report I was able to easily get the max daily shipment for each product by week, month and
year.

I recently purchased an Iphone 5s, 16 GB, version7.1.2, , model ME305LL/A. I've been having some issues however.
It appears someone has entered a passcode for "restrictions". I do not recall ever having engaged this feature and the
only proof I have of that is I am unable to find the passcode! There are 379 photos on this phone which I would like to keep. But
I am unable to backup my device because of the restrictions being turned on. I do not want to lose the data. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did try to get help by going into the local Apple store. However, I was told that the only way to get it working again, now that I am locked out it, is to get on itunes and do a complete factory reset. This of course would fix the locked out issue but I would loose all the pics.

CS5 Upgrade Can't Find FTP Info

I just upgraded from CS3 to CS5 and CS5 is not seeing any of my site FTP information and wants me to input all the passwords, etc. How do I make it find the site remote FTP info so that I don't have to input it all over again?

Does anyone know if I can upgrade from CS3 to CS5 or CS5.5??
The Adobe Buying Guide clearly states that the answer for CS3 to CS5.5 is yes.

Finder:FTP handles "@" not correctly

When using a user that has a "@" in it, Finder will fail to connect.
Also When using a password that contains a "@" the request will fail.
Found several forums with people that experience the same problems.
But there is never a solution.

When the password contains a "@" , a wireshark dump show a 1 in the argument.
