Finder fubar on nfs directory

i've just added a directory by d&d to an nfs-mounted server, but even tho it successfully copied all files, finder shows it as empty, even tho all permission are correct, as seen in the terminal:
$pwd

i can create folders from the finder (note above untitleds) but they are invisible (but selectable)-! see attached grab
i've bounced finder 2 no avail...do i really have 2 do the microserf's 1st resort of a reboot?-\ or am i asking 2 much to be able to view a directory listing from an nfs mount?-\

nevermind, unmounting/remounting cleared it:-}

  • Cannot import from NFS directory: tree not expandable

    I am using Lightroom 4.3 on Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1).
    I am unable to import files from an NFS-mounted directory because the folders lack rocker nodes, so I can't navigate through the tree to my existing Photos directory.  It isn't practical or desirable to import the entire NFS filesystem.
    I originally had the filesystem mounted with these options:
    freenas:/mnt/vol_home/nfs_home on /Volumes/home (nfs, nodev, nosuid, automounted, nobrowse)
    And while I can see the root of the filesystem in the left side of the import window, and while the directories have little folder icons next to them, the little triangular rockers next to them are greyed out.  If I picked a directory, and checked "include subfolders", then Lightroom would recurse through the tree and show me all of the pictures.  But I don't want to import my entire filesystem.  I need to navigate down the tree to my photo directory, but the rockers are "greyed out".  It's difficult to see them greyed out when the background is grey too, but they are there, faint as they are.
    So, I thought maybe the "nobrowse" option had something to do with the inability to navigate.  I used "NFS Utility" to remove the "nobrowse"option, and remounted the filesystem.  It is now mounted with these options:
    freenas:/mnt/vol_home/nfs_home on /Volumes/home (nfs, nodev, nosuid, noatime)
    And while I can see the root of the filesystem in the left side of the import window, and while the directories have little folder icons next to them, [most of] the rockers next to them are still greyed out.  Here is a screenshot of the import window, alongside a Finder window, which of course lets me open the rockers and navigate just fine.  The fact that Finder works implies to me that it isn't a permissions problem.  Of course I can also "cd" using the terminal commandline.  The navigation problem appears to be limited to the Lightroom application.
    Hopefully you can see from this screenshot, that only the "rbrown" folder has a working rocker.  The other rockers are greyed out (which is really difficult to see).  I need to navigate below "rbrown", but cannot.   Finder can open the "family" rocker, and can open the subfolders under "rbrown" just fine.
    Why does lightroom refuse to let me open these folders?
    Thanks in advance.

    I have discovered a way to get Lightroom to navigate my NFS directory!  Using the help I learned here:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_4_3_import_from_and_to_nfs _mounted_filesystem_does_not_work
    I discovered that not only did I need to use a nonstandard mount point (I ultimately chose "/nas"), but that I also needed to mount with the "rdirplus" option (aka "Use ReaddirPlus NFSv3 feature").  I was using the German 3rd party package "NFS Manager" to help me mount and unmount quickly, while enabling and disabling options left and right to try to figure this problem out.  It also allows me to specify it as an "automount".  Prior to Mac OS X 10.8 (mountain lion), there was a GUI in Disk Utility to allow me to specify NFS mounts, but as of mountain lion, the button is gone, for reasons unclear.
    Anyway, I got lightroom to navigate my NFS server by mounting on /nas, and by specifying the 'rdirplus' option in the mount command.

  • How to access PI NFS Directory

    Hi Frnds,
    I am trying to access my PI server NFS directory, to test my all developments for time being.
    This is the path of the directory u201C/usr/sap/interfaces/xd5ftp/sourceu201D . but i am unable to access.
    My PI server installed at client location, I am accessing using the CITRIX, is it possible to access that path in CITRIX environment?
    Do I need to do anything?
    Many thanks,

    Hi Rajasekhar,
                              I dont know the exact roles for the same...but basis people can do the same for this...
    or ask thme to configure the same in AL11 as you said you are having all roles...so you can access the same....
    and then use SXDA_TOOLS tocde for uploading or downloading the files to the OS level....

  • PI sender communication channel not reading files from NFS directory

    Hello,
    I have a sender communication channel configured to read file from NFS directory which is on ECC server. A program in ECC generates the file and puts it on the ECC server in the output directory. PI sender communication channel is supposed to pickup this file and process it. If I give the NFS path as the source directory, I am getting error: Configured source directory '//Server/DIR/OUT' does not exist. I tried putting '
    Server\DIR\OUT' too but same error. Do I have to add the NFS path of ECC into PI as logical path?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Sangita

    Hello Sangita,
    Your ECC server is an external system, therefore you need to activate FTP service in that system and use the transport protocol FTP:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm
    You can use NFS protocol when you have a local directory in XI server.

    .Luis Bernal.

    Why can't I create a new file and I get this error everytime: "Could not find the user documents directory"?

    Hi Team,
    Please check this forum thread with similar issue.

  • Create New gives an error "Could not find the user document directory"

    Fresh installed Adobe Edge Animate CC (2014). When I try to Create New, I get an Error popup "Could not find the user document directory"

    I think this worked!
    I just downloaded an example file and tried opening from outside of the program. At first it gave me some errors but then loaded it up.
    After that I've re-saved it and now I can create new files and open files.
    Before that I also uninstalled old CC programs that were not showing in the Adobe Creative Cloud apps.

  • I can't find it in the directory

    Hi there,
    I set up my podcast account, but it got rejected by Apple because there was music in the files, which have now been stripped. I assumed it was not listed and tried to set up another account using the same Feed url, but it tells me an account with that same url exists. I have tried to find it on the directory, but it doesn't appear.
    Please does anyone have any idea how I can get rid of the old Feed and start from the beginning.
    Thanks in anticipation
    Viv

    Hi Rob,
    Many thanks for your help.....
    My Feed url is - http://feeds.feedburner.com/co/cDRCw and the name of the show is Dream Corner.
    I actually don't mind changing the name; but preferably start all over again so I can include a photo etc and people can find me.....
    Thanks again

  • How do I find my CC Files Directory?

    Hello!
    Very new to the Creative Cloud.
    Trying to figure out the most basic thing--where can I find the Creative Cloud Files Directory? I want to be able to automatically backup my Photoshop and Indesign files, just in case my computer crashes.
    This site: Creative Cloud Help | Manage and Sync files --tells me if I save my files in this magical folder, they will automatically sync to the Cloud.
    Where is this folder? I'm using a Mac. I searched for it in Finder with no luck.
    Do I have to download another app?
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Super Newbie.

  • Virt-install cannot mount nfs directory

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to use ovms but I cannot create any virtual machine.
    I successfully installed OVMS; I disabled iptables to avoid network problems.
    I created a dvd from Oracle Unbreakable EL 5.0 cds on a different machine.
    The dvd image is shared by a linux CentOS box. The ISO image is inside /opt/tmp_os_isos/50 so I did
    service nfs start
    mkdir /mnt/dvd50
    chmod a+rwx /mnt/dvd50
    mount -o ro,loop /opt/tmp_os_isos/50/Enterprise-R5-GA-Server-i386-dvd.iso /mnt/dvd50/
    exportfs *:/mnt/dvd50
    and on the ovms server I did:
    [root@ovms ~]# virt-install
    What is the name of your virtual machine? giallo2
    How much RAM should be allocated (in megabytes)? 512
    What would you like to use as the disk (path)? /virtpcs/dischi/giallo
    How large would you like the disk (/virtpcs/dischi/giallo2) to be (in gigabytes)? 30
    Would you like to enable graphics support? (yes or no) no
    What is the install location? nfs:10.10.10.242:/mnt/dvd50
    And I always end up with the error
    That directory could not be mounted from the server.
    If I try to run
    [root@ovms ~]# mount.nfs 10.10.10.242:/mnt/dvd50 /mnt/50
    it works!
    I also tried to build adifferent dvd iso, or to uso a OEL 4.4 dvd iso (taken from an original working oracle dvd) but I always end up with the same error
    Where am I wrong?
    thanks, andrea

    I realized this problem was somehow related with the ovms installation: the pc I installed ovms on has two network card; when I installed ovms I configured eth0 via DHCP (eth0 is linked to the office network and to internet) and I configured eth1 with a static IP (eth 1 is connected to a "private" network made by 2 more pc).
    I also choosed to manage ovnms via eth1 (the network card witch has a statis ip), and everything regardind ovms has always been done via eth1.
    Now I reinstalled ovms and I choosed to manage it via eth0 (si I put a static ip address on eth0) and everything seems working: I'm just installing OEL5.0 via nfs without any problem (I hope... :-) )

  • Cannot find class in same directory during compilation

    hi
    i have two file hello.java & hi.java in same directory having simple println statements.
    hello.java
    public class hello {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("hello");
        new hi();
    }hi.java
    class hi {
      hi() {
        System.out.println("hi");
    }hi.java has compiled
    but when i try to compile hello.java i get error saying "Cannot find symbol class hi"
    i've tried giving classpath pointing to current directory during compilation as
    javac -classpath . hello.java
    but this also does not work.
    Please let me know if i am missing anything?
    thanks in advance...

    The javac compiler uses the Classpath to find classes. If your directory structure is c:\myjava\buron\doeacc (for example) then you need to have c:\myjava in the Classpath when you compile. For example javac -classpath c:\myjava MainFrame.java

  • Assign a finder view of a directory to a particular space at login

    I have defined a spaces "space" for doing a particular task. I've assigned particular apps to that space. Those apps are in the dock and set to start at login.
    I also have a directory tree that contains all of the various data files that I use during this task.
    I would like (at login) for a finder window to open up in that particular space with the finder window open to the top of that directory tree. Is this possible? Any thoughts how I can make this happen?

    The problem there is that the finder window will need to be available in every space and not locked to a particular one so it may be difficult to do.
    There must be a way using a simple applescript though that you can direct an application to a particular space and if so you should be able to write a basic script to open finder to a set folder and drop it in a set space and then repeat that for the other windows. For all i know there is already documentation out there on how to use a set space with applescript. Perhaps google around for some such info - i'm about as far from an applescript expert as you can get!

  • OSX 10.6 Finder jumps up a directory on Windows share - how to fix?

    We have an OSX 10.6 iMac connected to a Windows server share having a strange intermittent problem browsing directories.
    Permissions and access is fine, I can open the folder and subfolders just fine, but certain folders will jump up a directory level after one or two seconds. I can click to go back in the directory, see the files for a few seconds, then it jumps back up.
    It is a directory created from the iMac. The Windows admin checked file permissions and access and believe that is not the problem.
    A curious discovery is that it is only a problem in Finder. If I open Word 2008 and browse to open existing file and open the directory in question, the jumping problem does not happen.
    A little more info... the directories in question are on a Windows Server 2008 machine, but we have been working with this setup for over a year with no problems. Also, the folder that jumps up has a number sign # in the name, but we've used that before with no issue.
    Rebooting appears to fix the problem, but only temporarily. A permanent solution would be ideal.
    Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    I went into systerm preferences, then accounts, in Login Options it has Network Account Server (Join . .) when I hit Join it asks for my server address, directory domain or MAC OS X Server?  Are these all the same addresses?  Also how do I find mine?  Is it an IP address.  I just need a simple answer.
