Finder goes white?!?!

Hi all!
In the images below what was happened to my finder window during scrollbar moving.
A 'kill -HUP <finder pid>' solve the problem but: what is this? How it happen?

ibosie, sorry for the delay but I didn't receive any notification via mail. Don't now why.
I don't find a solution, but maybe have found when it appears in my case. I'm using an external 23" Apple Display connected to my macbook. When I close my lid as described here:

and then reopen it to switch off macbook monitor and use only external one, the finder goes white.
In my case a kill -HUP <finder pid> solve the problem. Same problem appears now after 10.5.1 update.

How can I repair a screen that pixelates and goes white randomly without replacing the whole LCD ?

I bought a unibody Macbook Pro 13,3" in 2009 (refurbished), so it is out of guarantee.
Since about two weeks, my screen randomly freezes on image, pixelates
and goes white. Like this. To correct the problem, I have to adjust the angle
of my screen, or press on the corner of the cover and it returns to normal.
But not for long.
I removed the bottom cover to remove all the dust in the hardware, the fan, the circuits
and what is related with the screen system. I verified the cables, the inverter, it was
in a really good condition. Note that I never dropped it or spilled liquid on or near my
laptop, I am a real maniac.
I talked to an Apple Genius here in Montreal, I explained it was not software
or graphics-related since I tried my computer on an external screen (which
worked fine even when the screen freezed). The only solution they found in
the Apple Store was to replace the entire LCD, at full price.
I then visited my local repair shop and the man did the same thing as me,
watching the components, connections, circuitry and when the problem
happened, he was puzzled.
I'm aware this problem is more and more often among Macbook users, and
I didn't find any solution elsewhere on Internet, so please, if anybody finds
out the origin of the problem, answer this thread and you'll help us all !

I would think that the Apple store Genius' diagnosis is correct. What you might consider is purchasing the display and installing it your self and thereby saving some money for a Molson or two. There are places on the web where you can find detailed instructions such as iFixit. If that is out of your realm, then bite the bullet and have the Genius do it for you (then you do get a 90 day warranty).

sorry I wrote before but forgot to edit it.Since I came home 3 weeks ago from surgery. I can be on any site especially on facebook playing games and it goes white completely with out warning so I have to restart my computer again to get back especially on facebook.I play alot of games on there and other things.No matter if I'm chatting .ect on any of my sites the page goes completely white.I get a message to upgade to mazolla firefox 5 but will not except some of my sites like replayer,ect.. so I keep putting it to ask me again in 7 days. You may never find it again and you can't if the iPhone remains offline or out of service which means the iPhone is powered off or doesn't have cellular reception.

Screen goes white (power issue?)

so as u read in the title, quite often now when charging (both ac and USB) my iphone's screen goes white an/or my phone gets really hot. i've been ignoring the issue for maybe 2 weeks now. but now my phone gets real hot and the screen thing is happening more frequently.....
i am real busy with school and dont have a chance to go to the retail store. but i want to hear your thoughts?
when i call apple they tell me i need to purchase the apple care for the phone or the one time 29$ which seems like a rip off

First, your phone should come with a 1 year warranty but the phone support is 90 days I believe so if you have had your phone for more than 90 days, it is likely you will be charged for the phone support.
Are you able to restore your phone to it's factory setting? Maybe this should solve the problem. If not, you will have to find a time to the apple store and get it checked out.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the hard drive data is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then select the First Aid Tab run Repair Disk and if that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

I have firefox 4 installed. when i go to one web page everything is fine; but, when i try and go to another my screen goes white and i have to restart my computer to be able to go to anyh other web page

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:

halo my BB9860 boots upto 75% and then goes white screen. i tried BBMCP by the time it detects my PIN the seek bar goes quarter unable to factory reset, BBSAK does recognize device at all. i am very helpless, please help me.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.

I have OSX 10.5.7 on my Intel Mac. When I try to login using the correct password the screen goes white and just returns back to the login screen. It does not jiggle like when you enter the wrong password.

Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. There are ways to back up, even if you can’t log in. Before proceeding,you must be sure you can restore everything to the state it’s in now. If you’re not sure you can do that, STOP.

Briefly, you need to delete the following file:
/var/audit/current
If you already know how to do that, you can skip the rest of this message. Do it, and try again to log in.

If you’re using an external USB keyboard, it must be plugged directly into a built-in port on the Mac, not into a hub. Release the keys when you see a black screen with scrolling white text. When the text stops scrolling, and you see a line ending in a pound sign (“#”), type the following command:
mount -uw /
You must type the command exactly as given, with no mistakes. If you don’t feel able to do that, STOP. At this stage, no harm will be done if you make a mistake, but later, it will be. Press the return key.
Next, type the following command:
rm -i /var/audit/current
Press return. You should get the following output:
remove /var/audit/current?
If that's not what you get, STOP. Type the single letter N, press return, and try again. Otherwise, type the single letter Y and pressreturn.
Finally, enter the command:
exit
Press return. The text will start scrolling again, and then the system will reboot. Try again to log in.

Where do I find the white or shadow sliders in Adobe Camera Raw 8.71 I just downloaded Photoshop from Creative Cloud as an update to my CS 5, yet these sliders are not there. Thanks!

In CR the dialog has changed to new setting. Old images have to be updated to the new process. Now all sliders to the left bring a darker result, to the right a brighter result.
New process is much finer than the old, you have to work it for a while but you will like it, when you are used to the new behavior.

When I connect my iMac to a hdtv, the screen goes white with snow

When I connect my imac to my samsung hdtv through DVI miniport to HDMI on the tv, the connection is fine for about 10-15 minutes and then goes white with snow. I had a macbook pro before and used to use the same connection on the same tv and it worked perfectly fine. Please help

Nope it won't do that on the mid 2011 iMacs. What you're trying is called Target Display Mode, the only way it would work is if the PC has Thunderbolt (which no PC has) and you use a Thunderbolt cable.
What you can do is hook up to two external monitors on your iMac (giving it up to 3 monitors) which is very cool and can improve productivity depending on what you use your iMac for.

Yup you can do that JennAG pulling the battery then holding in on the Power button while the battery is out is a Form of resetting a Device many of the older Androids that had batteries that you could pull out, you could then power cycle the phone) But when the Sealed back style of phone came out power cycling methods had to change a bit on some Devices you hold the Lower Volume and the power button some you hold the upper Volume and the Power and on some you can just hold the Power button it self allot different ways..
But on your s5 puling the Battery leaving it out for 10 min & holding in on the power button for 20 sec. you'll be Fine b

After a few hours of inactivity , my screen goes white with a flashing file folder in the centre with a question mark in the centre of said folder. at this point i can only unplug the computer for it to reboot properly, then it is fine till the next go..

6280 goes white screen when I sync with Vista

Hi all,
My 6280 goes white screen and reboot when I sync after a 350 items uploaded to my laptop under Vista Premium Family Edition. I've got this problem either connected through the cable or bluetooth.
I use the latest version of PC Suite, but I do not have upgraded my 6280.
If someone can help me, thanks by advance.
(and of course, it worked perfectly with my old desktop computer under XP ...).

I mean to sync with the syncronisation feature (inside the PC Suite menu) to an Outlook 2002, under Windows Vista.
Anyway, I solved my problem : I had a corrupted record in my phone's contacts (the phone was always rebooting on the same record number, when I tried to export data). I have deleted all the phone's contact records and then reloaded them from Outlook, and now everything works just fine.
Backup, backup, always backup ...
The question is : how could I have corrupt a record in my phone's contact ?
