Finder, iTunes style

so i saw this http://osxleopardhints.com/change-leopards-scrollbars/ and was wondering if there is a way to apply it to apps also?

I implemented this a while back and it is system wide. I don't recall in every app, but every app I can think of uses these scrollbars now, Apple & 3rd party apps.

  • Open itunes get error message, can't find iTunes folder! & doesn't open!

Hi, I have Downloaded iTunes but it some how has installed itself onto a USB pen drive that I had connected at the time. I have unplugged this and downloaded iTunes again...which seemed to go ok but when I click the iTunes icon an error message appears ' Cannot find iTunes folder, this is normally located in the My Music Folder' and will not open iTunes. I plug the USB pen in and it works fine! I have tried to copy & paste the files on the USB pen but it doesn't copy them properly...can anyone help?

    Hello mvguillet,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but when you get to this step, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

  • I am trying to update iTunes on my IMB Thinkpad laptop...keep getting a message that itunes can't find iTunes.msi

I installed iTunes a couple of years ago....have lots of songs, purchase more all the time....and run an i phone, i pad and i pod....I use the ipod for music only.  Trying to update the iTunes, which it asks me to do when I open up iTunes on my laptop....I go to update, and it can't get all the way thru....stops and gives me that message saying it can't find iTunes.msi or something about the pathway to it...how do I fix that?

    Hello Rneufeld,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes.  I recommend trying to download the update directly from our site.
You can download the latest version of iTunes here:
    Download iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you are still not able to install the update, I recommend using the steps in this article and selecting iTunes in step 8:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" alert when removing Apple software in Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3704
Once you have it removed, try installing iTunes again using the link above.

  • Magic Mouse - Two Finger Swipe not working in Finder + iTunes

    Hello,
since OSX 10.8 I realized that in Finder & iTunes the backward/forward navigation has stopped working with Magic Mouse (two-finger-swipe gesture).
I have already read a lot of forums as well as apple-discussions and didn't find a solution apart from MagicPrefs or any other 3rd-party-app.
Is that a bug or just not meant to work? Does anybody know why Apple stopped providing this - very useful - gesture?
Thank you for your time and have a perfect day
    Sascha

    Pual_31 suggested good advise...
I would also recommend if that does not work, to reboot and run "repair permissions" from Disk Utilities.
Also might suggest downloading and trying MagicPrefs, it's a free program for the Magic Mouse and it really works great. May help with your problem, may not but I'd give it a try.

  • We are unable to find iTunes on your computer.  (iPhone)

Trying to test in-app purchasing, so logged out of App Store, and now I cant log back in.
I have connectivity, because I can browse web. My App Store account is still correct, because I can successfully log in using my iPad.
The error message I get on my iPhone screen is weird, it says:
    *One Moment Please.*
    *Connecting to the iTunes Store.*
    Loading...
*We are unable to find iTunes on your computer.*
    *[I have iTunes] [Download iTunes]*
*If iTunes doesnt open, click the iTunes aplication login in Dock or Windows Task Bar.*

Suddenly, I have fixed this problem by download a free apps from the link refer to. Now my App Store / iTunes Store in my iPhone has been recovered. Very strange!

  • I can no longer find iTunes on my PC

I can no longer find iTunes on my PC and can't find where to download a new copy.  I used to be able to sync with my computer, but since the introduction of icloud I no longer get the itunes app for syncing when I plug my phone into my PC.  I only have 25 songs accessible through my iphone, but have hundreds on my computer.  I would like to know how to be able to access that music from my iphone or ipad

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

  • I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. My computer name in Windows has changed, and now, my Ipad can't find Itunes

I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. My computer name in Windows has changed, and now, my Ipad can't find Itunes, and Itunes can't find my Ipad. [email protected]

Ok, if reinstalling iTunes as suggested above does not resolve the issue of iTunes recognising the iPad then try this -
Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, make sure your lead /connections are no faulty.
Fourthly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
Failing all that, see here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
And failing all that put the device into Recovery mode. See here and note the paragraph 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page -
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/
As for making your new laptop your 'home computer' follow these instructions -
    1. Without connecting your iPad to your computer -
    A) Install iTunes / make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed.
    B) Go to the Store tab and click on "Authorise This Computer".
    C) Go to Edit, click on Preferences [iTunes and Preferences on Macs] and click on Devices. Put a check mark in the box next to "Prevent  iPods/iPhones/iPads from syncing automatically". Click OK and close iTunes.
    2.  Connect your iPad to your computer -
    A) Start iTunes (it will not start automatically because of the action at 1(C) above).
    B) Right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select "Transfer purchases".
    C) When the transfer has completed, right click on your iPad again and select "Backup".
    D) When the backup has completed, left click on your iPad, click on the Apps tab, and put a check mark in the box next to "Sync Apps", and then click on "Apply" (bottom right).
    E) Unless you want to always do a manual sync (as I do), go back to Edit, Preferences [iTunes and Preferences on Macs] and uncheck the box next to "Prevent your iPod.....".
    F) Finally, on your iPad, check that everything is syncing properly. If not, go back to iTunes and check all settings.
NB You should not lose any apps. However, any 'purchased' missing apps can be downloaded again FOC. As with updates, this must be done with the Apple ID under which they were originally 'purchased'.
Also see here as to moving your music to your new computer -

  • I am trying to download the latest version of iTunes to my PC (windows XP) and I keep getting an error message or two. One is that it can't uninstall the previous itunes version, the other is that it can't find itunes.msi.

I am trying to download the latest version of iTunes to my PC (windows XP) and I keep getting an error message or two. One is that it can't uninstall the previous itunes version, the other is that it can't find itunes.msi. I have tried removing  the old version in add/remove programs, but it says the same error. I tried deleting every thing that has itunes in the file/folder/etc and it didn't help.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Find/replace styles in Pages 5

In Pages '09, one can find a style, under the "Advanced" menu in the find/replace pop-up.  I use this to prepare talks, writing my own comments in a different style than what I'll print and hand out.  Thus, I find the style and replace it (with nothing), and be left with simply the text for the handout.  Is there a way to use find/replace in Pages 5 to search and find a particular style?  I can't find it.  Thank you!

That is an extremely useful feature. I just was using that on a document to hand last night, searching on an expression and applying a style to it, Saved me hours of work. Not something Apple seems to get these days.
Nobody apparently is supposed to work on Macs anymore, just fiddle.
Viking is being modest, the count is over 110 known missing features and countless bugs or things that simply don't work as they are supposed to.
Thankfully there is still Pages '09! For now. Which should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

  • HT1926 my itunes will not update due to an error message saying cannot find itunes.msi

I need help to resolve the fact that my computer will not update. It gives me a message about 95% way through the update that it cannot find itunes.msi and I also went to just uninstall the program completely off my computer and it gives me the same message. Help please!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Can I set a default finder window style?

I would like to set a default Finder window style that will affect all windows, new and old. I am able to set my default style to list, but I want to go beyond that. I want my windows to be lists, with only certain columns visible, I want the columns to be set to specific widths, and I want the windows to open as if the green button in the corner had been pressed.
In Windows it is fairly easy to set a default Explorer window style with this level of setting. Can I do it on my Mac? Some setting I am missing, or some third party program?
    Thanks!

I tried your command, and after a while the Terminal window gets hung up on:
    find: /dev/fd/3: Not a directory
    find: /dev/fd/4: Not a directory
Just two of many that you shouldn't be worried about. These will reveal everything I know about them:
    ls -al /dev/
    ls -al /dev/fd/
I haven't a clue why running this is hanging up on your machine:
    sudo find / -name ".DS_Store"  -exec rm {} \;
As for why you're you're still having issues after setting up the initial folder, I haven't a clue, since it worked here when I had an issue with it.
