Finder Makes a Copy.

So, back in 10.4 (and about every version before that), opening a file in finder would open the file in the program associated to the file ( a .psd would open Photoshop, .ai would open Illustrator, etc.) or double clicking would do the same.
In 10.5, I double click (or open) the file and it creates a copy of the file and then opens the copy.
Anyone know what's going on ?

I'm having the same problem, but it appears to only be with Quark XPress 6 files and only after I've opened a file and saved it in 10.5. The first time I open the file, it opens fine although I do get a an Unexpected End of File -39 message after I've saved once. When I Save As, it works fine.

Download it again, don't install again and the file (Lion Installer.app) will be in your applications folder.
It is deleted after installation, that's why it can't be found.

(a) Load legal size papers onto the input tray (you have to extent the tray from the blue/cyan part to fit legal size papers),
(b) Load original face up on the ADF,
(b) Touch copy,
(e) Touch Settings (now you can change size and few other options,
(f) Touch Black or Colors to copy.

How can I make a copy of the FAQs module or filter on language?

Hi,
is it possible to make a copy of the FAQs module? I need to have FAQs in different languages.
I can add event, photo, news ands media modules but not a new FAQs module.
I also found that you can add a category and display the FAQs with the filter: cr or individual filter. But where do I add the category name to filter on?

Quick solution: the ID is used for the category name, so I need to do a time consuming process to find the id.

ITunes makes a copy of my music or just makes links?

Hi everyone,
I got a little question about iTunes that I don't know if true or not. I have a large amount of CD's all in MP3 and I always use iTunes to play, retouch and more with it and when I always add music to iTunes (just drag it into the window of iTunes) I would like to know if iTunes makes and exact copy of my music or just symbolic links. I don't want have double of files all over my Mac increasing the space that takes.
If it makes a copy of my music should I delete the original files?

I don't really let iTunes manage the organization of my media, but I do keep it all inside the iTunes Media folder. If I want to add new content downloaded from say Amazon I usually move it inside the iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes folder, then fix any tagging problems that might make iTunes break up the album (see Grouping tracks into albums), before using a custom script to move the tracks exactly where I want them and update iTunes so that it knows where to find them. Moving the files, rather than copying them myself, or letting iTunes make copies, means there aren't any originals to delete later. Having everything inside the iTunes Media folder generally ensures that backing up and copying the library to a new computer are hassle free operations.

If I understand you correctly, you have
Opened an image, and copied the background layer.
Added a layer mask, and finding that painting in the mask makes no difference whether you paint with black or white.
That is what you would expect to happen if both layers are identical. To demonstrate, make a change to the copied layer. Either change the blend mode to Multiply, or lower the opacity, or paint big red stripes across it. Now when you paint with black, the red stripes will disappear where the mask is black, and be visible where the make is white.

AdvancedDataGrid (ADG). Right now, I am building my own custom drag
proxy using a Container instance and grabbing the text to use from
the "selectedItem" property. This creates a suitable image to drag.
However, what I'd really like to do is have the drag proxy look
exactly like the item renderer of the item I'm dragging. I don't
want the whole row, though, only one cell - that's why I can't use
the ADG's "dragImage" property. When I run the code below to
attempt to make a copy of the itemRenderer instance, the
itemRenderer in the ADG for the source item is cleared out - the
label disappears. Is there some way to make just a "copy" of the
itemRenderer instance, so that it doesn't disappear from the
ADG?

The itemRenderer is made by the ADG using the ClassFactory of
the
itemRenderer class.
I think you can search for the appropriate ClassFactory for
that column,
then make a new renderer from that Factory. Set its data
and/or listData to
the same as the existing renderer.
This might look something like this:

No. 10.6.3 was the last retail release of Snow Leopard. Download the 10.6.8 Combo updater and put it on a flash drive to make it easier to install the largest part of the update.
Also, don't push the same disk image of SL to your Macs unless they are exactly the same model as it was originally installed on. The wrong hardware drivers will otherwise be in use.

Hello,
To copy across the data you can use the traditional EXP/IMP or the Datapump utility.
If you're used to using EXP/IMP I'd encourage you to look at Datapump, if you haven't used EXP/IMP before I'd encourage you to look at Datapump (datapump rocks) -

There are a few major differences between Datapump and traditional EXP/IMP (EXP/IMP creates the export file on the client side, Datapump creates it on the server side etc).

To make a copy of the query use the "save as" option in the query designer and assign the new technical name and description.
If you want to copy the query between 2 data targets then use the transaction RSZC.

How do I make a copy of book draft to show MIL before ordering?

Hi, I need to make a copy of my iphoto book draft to show my mother-in-law before ordering. I know there's a way to do this, as I did it years ago with another iphoto book. However, I cant remember and I cannot seem to find a recent discussion about it on the boards.
She can't come to my house to view it. Can I burn it to a disc (?) to take over to her house (she also has a Mac) to view? Or do I have to save it, take it to Staples, and print it out? How do I save it on a disc?

Save it as a pdf. Right click in the window when viewing the book.

It was bought for my son and he never registered it.
I still don't understand why Neema was trying to reinstall it when she didn't have the serial number but after she uninstalled it, said she couldn't reinstall it because I didn't have the serial number. I never had it yet she didn't have a problem with trying to install it originally.
Still won't buy another Adobe product again. I've talked to a lot of people who can't stand Adobe and I now know why. I can't even update Flash without my whole system crashing or getting a virus.
I won't re-purchase InDesign either. I realize it should have been registered and I explained that my email had been hacked and my proof of purchase was deleted with ALL of my emails and I also had a major virus after updating Flash.
I can't afford to buy the same product twice.
I will find out what other formats my book distributor (Ingram Books) accepts and purchase that program.
Not impressed with Adobe and will share my experience with others so they can be sure to register their product and make a copy of the program BEFORE allowing an Adobe employee to take control of their computers.
If you knew the answer to my question, customer support should have too.
