Yes, they do participate in a transaction. Make sure your isolation levels
          are set to
          Required/RequiresNew/Mandatory or Supports. Check out 11.6 of EJB 1.1 spec
          for the determining what you need.

    Once deployed, on server side, I can found a java source file (with corresponding compiled class file) in path:

    I'm trying to call this method but it throws a SQLException when preparing the statement.
    It seems that Informix does not like this SQL syntax because of upper case names, doble quotes on table alias, or something else.
    When editing persistent.xml in netweaver, I can define the element <datasource-vendor> as ORACLE, SAPDB, MS_SQL_SERVER, DB2_UDB_AS400 or DB2_UDB_OS390 but INFORMIX is not an accepted value.
    Is there any way to define how this SQL query is build?

    I called a procedure in in-insert and on-updateWhy are you writing this code in the first place? If you have a block based on an updatable view, just let Forms do the inserts and updates.
    If it's not an updatable view, use instead of triggers on the view.

  • How do I use the find method to find multiple items in a single paragraph?

    I am desigining a script to find any instances where ctrl+b and ctrl+i are applied to body text and then replace those character format overrides with Italic or Bold chartag.  Here's what the script is supposed to do:
    put the find method in a while loop that searches for character format overrides.
    If a character format override is found, pass the text range returned by the find method and the CharPropsChange flag to the GetTextForRange method.
    Use a boolean compare between the idata of the text item to the character angle and character weight constants.
    Whichever boolean evaluates to true, then use the SetTextProp method to set properties of the text range to the properties of the italic or bold character tag.
    This script does work on the first character format override found however it ignores any other overrides in the same paragraph. The cause of this is that the while loop updates the text loc that the find method uses to the next paragraph in flow. I suspect that i need to add an inner loop that goes through all the text in a single paragraph, where at teach iteration the text loc used by the find method is based on the same paragraph but the offset is modified. I am just not sure how to do that.

    Hi Rick,
    Well, following up on the previous posting, I actually did figure out how to make it work but it seems rather inefficient. I can insert a new paragraph right after the paragraph that has the table anchor but when i cut the table, i also cut the paragraph i just created. So to get around that, I create two paragraphs, so that there will be one paragraph left after i do the cut and that is the paragraph that I paste the table into. Once the table is pasted into the new paragraph, I delete the other paragraph that I created.

  • Container finder methods

    If I define a container finder method, and try to fetch the
    records by issuing a call to that finder method, I get the last
    record repeated the number of times the number of records are in total.
    I do not know whether it is a bug in the server or there is some other solution to it. If i install sp4, then it works for
    somedays but trips soon after. I feel there is something wrong
    about the way the container manages caching of db records.
    I am looking forward for a quick answer.

    This was a bug introduced in SP3. Grab the latest service pack and
    recompile your beans with the service pack in front of your classpath.

    Among the two methods call transaction is better compared to session bcoz data transfer is faster in it.
    Differences between call transaction and session.
    Session Method:
    1) Data is not updated in the database table until the session is processed.
    2) No sy-subrc is returned.
    3) Error log is created for error records.
    4) Updation is always synchronous.
    Call Transaction Method:
    1) Immediate updation in the database table.

    In the BDC call transaction method
    We call the transaction FB01 2000 times (once for each record posting) and if the processing fails in record no 3 it can be captured and start with reocord 4.
    Eg: Loop at itab.

    In the session method.
    We do not explicity call the transaction 2000 times, but all the records are appeneded into a session and this session is stored. The processinf of the session is done wwhenever the user wants it to be done. Hence the errors cannot be captured in the program itself

    Batch Input Session method is asynchronous as told by others here. But the advantage of this is that you have all the error messages and the data for each transaction held persistantly. You don't have to code anything for processing them or writing the logs.
    But at the same time, the same feature can be disadvantageous if you need to react to an error or if there are too many errors to manually correct in a session. Since the session are created in the program and its execution is done seperately, you loose the trackability of such transactions.
    With a call transaction, what was a disadvantage above will become an advantage. Call transaction immediately gives you messages back and you can react to it in your program. But the disadvantage is that, if you have several hundreds of transactions to run, running them from within the program can be resource crunching affair. It will hamper the system performance and you cannot really distribute the load. Of course, you have some mechanisms with which you can overcome this, but you will have to code for it. Also, storing the messages and storing the errored transaction data etc will have to be handled by you in the program. Whereas, in batch input session, your program's job is to just create the session, after that everything is standard SAP system's responsibility.
    Ideally, you should do a call transaction if the resources are not a problem and if it fails, put the errored transaction into a session.
    You can decide based on the data volume that your BDC is processing. If data volume is high go for session else call transaction will do.The call transaction updates will be instantaneous where as session needs to be processed explictly after creation.
    Session Method
    1) Session method supports both small amount of data aswell as large amount of data
    2) data processing is asynchronus and data updation is synchronus.
    3) it process multiple apllication while perfomaning validations.
    4) in session method data will be updated in data base only after processing session only.
    5) system provide by default logfile for handling error records.
    6) it supports both foreground aswell as background process
    in bdc we use FM ...

    You can find an article about creating the methods on the Microsoft Developement Network call "How to Create 32-bit Import Libraries Without .OBJs or Source"
    However that is only part of the problem.
    Consider if you find that the dll has a function like this:
    InitApplication(char*, int, char, long);
    What do you put in for each of those parameters? The only way I know to do that it to use a debugger and step through the assembler code figuring it out as you go. Alternatively you buy or find a disassembler - C code would probably be easier to figure out.
    I would also seriously suggest finding some different lists/news groups than this one. The topic has nothing to do with java. So you are likely to get better help somewhere that is more specific - like one of the MS lists.

    For this, you'll need to make some a slight modification to the generated finder methods.
    Say you create an entity called Drinks which has the same structure as the table you provide as an example (and can I just say, what a great example you chose ;)
    It should go something like this - note, I've not tried this but this is what you need to look at doing:
    In the Home interface (DrinksHome) create a findermethod that looks like:
    public Collection findByName(String name, Double Price) throws RemoteException, FinderException;
    * note we make the return type a collection since it's possible that you may get more than one entity returned.
    Go ahead and deploy your EJB.
    When you deploy your EJB, OC4J will generate a finder method for this method for you.
    Now what you need to do is to modify the generated XML deployment descriptor to tune the query if you will.
    OC4J generates the deployment descriptor info it needs for an application in $OC4J/application-deployments.
    Go to to $OC4J/application-deployments/<app-name>/<ejb-name> where app-name and ejb-name are specific your deployed EJB.
    Open the orion-ejb-jar.xml file. This is the file OC4J uses to describe the deployed beans.
    Search through the file until you find the <finder-method> tag.
    Amend the query attribute of the finder-method tag to reflect the where clause of the query you want to execute:
    query="$name = $1 AND $price > $2"
    Now go to the generated SQL string and add the corresponding SQL where condition, using a ? in place of the actual value of the query string above
    It would become something like ...

    Note that in this query, the where clause matches the query you specified, but you omit the actual values.

    Give that a try and see how you go.

    I've done a little VB scripting with InDesign, using some of the examples I've found here and there. But I can't for the life of me find a full listing of the Object Model, nor a listing of methods and properties. I'm limited in what I can do by stumbling upon objects here and there in others' scripts. Surely this must be documented somewhere.
    One thing that's particularly confusing to me (partly because I'm not well-versed in JS), is I'll see something the following

    where "FitOptions.frameToContent" seems to reference a constant, presumably in a structure. How do I determine the actual constant value, or supply an object reference (as I'm scripting from a stand-alone VB app) such that it can "find" that constant?

    I'm having several problems with transactions using WLS 6.0
              I believe I have isolated it to the name of the method.
              I have a Session bean method called removePerson() and another one called
              deletePerson()
              My descriptor is below:

              any for the remote interface that would lead me to
