Finder not reporting correct disk usage

Just installed Leopard on a MP 15'' and finder report my 120g disk has only 50g free. When I use WhatSize app it report only 32G as being used. I checked the drive for damage, and disk utils reported none. Before the install Tiger Finder was reporting I had 70g free. Has anyone else notice this?

Open Disk Utility in your Utilities menu. Look at the drive entry and sub-entry. If you have two sub-entries then the drive was formatted with two partitions. If you see only one sub-entry then select the main drive entry and click on the Partition tab in DU's main window. The partition rectangle should show how the drive was partitioned. If you see a large gray rectangle below a white rectangle, then your drive was only formatted for 320 GBs. You can try resizing the existing volume by selecting that rectangle then grabbing the handle in the lower right corner with the mouse. Drag down to the bottom and then click on the Partition button. If you aren't able to do that then click on the Add [+] button below the rectangle area to add a new partition then click on the Partition button. This will give you a second 320 GB volume.

  • FTP connections through Finder not reporting correct file size

    Hi,
I have a NAS that running as an FTP server. When I connect to it through Finder it reports the incorrect file size of 2.7GB (the real file size is 61GB)
Its an DMG image file so it obviously fails when I try to image a new IMAC.
FTP through windows reports the correct file size so rules out any problem on the NAS.
    Any ideas anybody?
    Many thanks.

  • Captivate Quiz Not Reporting Correctly in LMS

I am using Captivate 5.0 to publish a project to an EKP LMS. I am able to get the file to show complete in the LMS, but the quiz is not reporting correctly. Instead of a percentage it is reporting the number of points earned. Is there any way to have a percentage reported instead? I would appreciate any suggestions.  Grace

Can you check the Highlighted part and reset your Radio button to 'Percentage'--

  • Finder reports wrong disk usage

Get Info reports that I am using 127GB of disk space while Finder shows 199GB in use.  I've tried permissions repair, emptying trash, restarting, etc.  The change occured after I removed a virtual machine from Parallels and emptied the trash.
Any ideas how to get Finder to report the correct size?

  • Mac OS Version not reported correctly in ARD

Using ARD admin 3.7.2 the screen displays Mac OS Version as 10.9.2 but on the computer "About this Mac" clearly shows OSX 10.9.3.
Other computers that are running 10.9.3 show correctly.  I have re-scanned but no change.  Deleted computer from "All Computers" and re-scanned, no change.
Why are certain computers not reporting their current Mac OS Version correctly?

I discovered that if I did the "Upgrade Client Software", the Mac OS Version shows correctly now.  The client software was already 3.7.1 but apparently re-installing it fixed the problem.

  • HELP! Capital One not reporting correctly

Hello everyone,I filed my case BK 7 on 05/15/2015, had my 341 meeting, and am now patiently awaiting my discharge to arrive in the mail.  I've been monitoring my credit report via CreditKarma and have been noticing most of my accounts being updated as, IIB, and closed with zero balances. Capital One, however, is not showing "included in bankruptcy." The balance was updated to $0, but the payment status shows, "Collection/Charge Off." I called Capital One and they told me they sold the account to a collection agency and there was nothing they could do to report the account as IIB.  They said that when they had the account, they could have reported it correctly, but since they sold the account, they only report information from when they owned the account.  They gave me the new account owner and told me this is who I should contact. I understand what the rep is saying, but I can't believe that this account can not be updated to report as IIB.  Will this account continue to report on my CR as a charge off?  Has anyone else run into this issue?  Please help!  I am trying to get my reports as cleaned up as possible before my discharge. Thank you in advance for your repies!

    0REDSOX7 wrote:
It is valid because they sold the debt to a collection agency prior to your filing.  They do not own it anymore.  So they report it as Collections/Charge Off. If/When the new creditor decides to report it to your credit report, it will have to say zero balance, and IIB.  And yes, the CA will be able to report it even if it was discharged (so long as reporting is accurate) as it was sold/transferred prior to your filing. With all do respect I disagree wholeheartedly with this. Yes, creditors can and do report accts previously sold/charged off prior to filing, as such. However I do not feel that it has to end this way. My recent experience with getting an original creditor (Credit One) to report as iib/0/closed, is a testament to this. Basically, I had 2 creditors reporting to Equifax that my CH7 discharged accounts were 'sold/transferred/charged off'. Naturally, like the OP, I was concerned and didn't think this was right. So, I filed an initial online dispute with Equifax, against the entries for both creditors. Ultimately Equifax found in favor of the creditors, stating that they were reporting correctly. I was LIVID! After that, I filed a second dispute, this time via certified mail and providing copies of my Schedule F inclusion of both creditors, as well as a copy of my discharge order. Similarly, Equifax again found in favor of the creditors and refused to adjust the entries. Here is where it gets better and where I hope it gives you something to look forward to: I gathered all of my documentation up and called Equifax on the phone. My initial motive for placing the call to Equifax was to get an answer to one simple question: "How could anything that the original creditors report to you, supersede documents from a discharged US Bankruptcy order?' I spoke to a halfbrained CSR at first and asked exactly that question. After haggling a bit, his ultimate answer was that he couldn't disclose any information to me on what response was given from the original creditors. This is a clear violation of law. The CB's must provide to anyone who disputes a credit entry, the exact data included in the response from the creditor. Hearing "I cannot disclose" from this CSR sent me into stratospheric anger. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The call took a better turn. After reviewing my schedule F inclusion of the creditors and the discharge papers, the Equifax supervisor agreed that the creditors were reporting unfairly and inaccurately. The supervisor has the 'Specialty Department' make the two entries for these creditors immediately update to 'iib/0/closed'.  All is well with that aspect of my story. My point is, don't lie down and just give up OP. Just because the original creditor doesnt' have to play ball, doesn't mean you can't get it reported the way you need it to. Be persistent. Gather your papers and call them. Don't lay down and accept it.

  • Fsbtodb macro in ufs_fs.h does not return correct disk address

I'm using fsbtodb to translate the file inode block address to file system block address.
What I've observed is fsbtodb returns corretct disk address for all the files if file system size < 1 TB.
But, if ufs file system size is greater than 1 TB then for some files, the macro fsbtodb does not return correct value, it returns -ve value
Is this a known issue and is this been resolved in new versions
    Thanks in advance,
    dhd

returns corretct disk address for all the files if file system size < 1 TB.and
if ufs file system size is greater than 1 TB then for some files, the macro fsbtodb does not return correct value, it returns -ve valueI seem to (very) vaguely recall that you shouldn't be surprised at this example of a functional filesize limitation.
Solaris 9 was first shipped in May 2002 and though it was the first release of that OS to have extended file attributes I do not think the developers had intended the OS to use raw filesystems larger than 1TB natively.
That operating environment is just too old to do exactly as you hope.
Perhaps others can describe this at greater length.

  • Forefront clients not reporting correctly

    Hi guys
Here at work, we have 2 Forefront management servers which are being used to provide policies for a large number of different managed customers (different networks, domains, etc).
We're having an issue where some FEP clients are updating correctly and working fine but the Forefront reporting on the management server is saying otherwise. I've noticed that for some clients, the policy showing as installed when looking at the
registry isn't tying up with what the report console shows.
I've tried re-applying the required policies to some of the clients for a test but this has made no difference. I can't see any pending actions on the MOM console, etc.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Did the Forefront Client Security Management Server computer display as an
agent-managed computer on MOM Administrator console and appear in Forefront Client Security reports? If not, maybe it is due to the FCS Management Server computer does not communicate correctly with the collection server. Please make sure that you have installed
the MOM agent on the FCS Management Server computer. In addition, I would appreciate it if you can provide some screenshots of the MOM console and the related information of the report on the FCS management server.
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • Finder not showing correct free space for DROBO

I have replaced a "working" 16TB (8*2TB drive) DroboPlus with (3*4TB +5*2TB) drives after a low space warning ( just under 1TB free with double redundancy)
I Am having the problem with free memory being shown as 439.4 Mb from Yosemite finder for my FW800 connected DroboPro (1.2.2) ( also using USB2)
(It very very occasionally it shows the correct value but there does not seem to be a logic in it.)
    MBP (early2011) 10.10.1
    running just one 16TB volume,
    Drobo Dashboard (2.6.3) shows 9.81TB used with 6.18TB free  ( from 20TB 4+4+4+2+2+2+2+2 single redundancy=3.94TB)
"About this mac">Storage shows 6.8TB free of 17.59TB (with data type other=10.79TB)
Disk Utilty shows Drobo as 17.59TB with 6.8TB available.
How can I get finder to show a more "correct" value, as I cannot save any files (>439Mb) to it despite plenty of memory available.
Other applications and OS DiskUtility and Storage show correct values.
I have tried saving a small file at route level and also preventing spotlight from indexing it, both make no difference.
Drobo non-Suport do not want to know as the DroboPro is no longer available.  Caveat Emptor

What is the source that you are looking at?
Download OmniDiskSweeper and/or Grand Perspective and open it.  How does it compare with your MBP data?

  • LineNumber not reporting correctly

    Hi Everyone
I've been working on a side project of mine that helps me learn powershell and incorporate other languages, and I've hit a bit of a roadblock.
My powershell script basically reads the latest entry (the last line) of a logfile everytime the logfile has been updated.  When the logfile updates, the script reads the last line of the logfile and searches for 2 specific words; GameStart and GameEnd.
Once it finds 'GameStart' it is supposed to remember the LineNumber and continue to read the latest entries until it finds 'GameEnd' and remember its LineNumber.
The problem I'm having is no matter the line position, GameStart is always report LineNumber 0 and GameEnd is relevant to only the position of GameStart, and not the actual LineNumber. (So if GameEnd is found 77 lines down, it reports LineNumber 77 which is
    not the actual LineNumber)
I'm using this section of code to monitor the logfile for updates:
    http://dereknewton.com/2011/05/monitoring-file-system-changes-with-powershell/
For testing purposes, I just have the below lines to confirm if the position of GameStart and GameEnd reports back with the correct line number:
    $changed = Register-ObjectEvent $watcher1 "Changed" -Action {
    $GameStart = Get-Content 'c:\path-to-log\logfile.log' -Tail 1 | select-string -pattern '(GameStart)'
    $GameEnd = Get-Content 'c:\path-to-log\logfile.log' -Tail 1 | select-string -pattern '(GameEnd)'
    if ($GameStart)
Write-Host $(Get-Date -format T) "GameStart entry found on line "$GameStart.LineNumber
    else ($GameEnd)
Write-Host $(Get-Date -format T) "GameStart entry found on line "$GameEnd.LineNumber
Any ideas to get the GameStart and GameEnd to report back the actual correct LineNumber?

You can't have a true line number without dealing with the entirety of the file, so I pulled it all in with
    Get-Content 'c:\path-to-log\logfile.log'
    then used
    | select-string -pattern '(GameStart)'
to filter out only the lines that contained the pattern.
I wrapped all that up as an array with the @() syntax to get
    @(Get-Content 'c:\path-to-log\logfile.log' | select-string -pattern '(GameStart)')
and then chose only the last member of the array with the [-1] index.

  • Hard drive storage issue - "Other" and not showing correct data usage

I'm currently using a MacBook Pro (Retina 15" Mid 14') which I purchased less than a month ago.
Based on my "about this mac" storage summary, I'm using over 190GB, yet I can only account 67GB of usage. I've restarted and reindexed my spotlight search twice (once via terminal, next through system preferences).
Where is all my disc space? What am I missing?

You might run OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective in Root.  This mat find the discrepancy.
These are the commands that you will have to enter for each in Terminal
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Naturally you will run one at a time, not simultaneously.
Look at this as a guide:
    http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/how_to_recover_missing_hard_drive_space
Note that when you enter your password, it will not be displayed.
Before you start any thing, MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOUR DATA IS BACKED UP!
    Ciao.

  • BOOTCAMP partition not visible in Finder, not Mountable in Disk Utility

Did a fresh Bootcamp install of Windows 7 on my MBA running 10.9.4, switched back and forth a few times and now the BOOTCAMP partition doesn't show up in the left pane in Finder. I hopped into Disk Utility to see what was going on and it was there, just not mounted, so I clicked mount, was told it couldn't be mounted, and it suggested I run first aid on it. I clicked Verify, nothing useful to me, then Repair, and got quite a lot of feedback that I do not understand, and then after that it was still unmountable.
I tried to copy everything it said into a pastebin because it was very long with lots of starting and stopping and counting percents inbetween, but it was over 500kb and that's the limit for free users on pastebin, so here's a trimmed version. http://pastebin.com/neBUTdZi
I tried booting into Windows after that, and it jumped into System Repair. Apparently, according to Windows, my Boot Manager is missing or corrupt... and since I still can't access it from the Mac side of things, I thought I'd just wipe the partition in BootCamp Utility and start over.
Except instead, I get this error:
"Your disk could not be restored to a single partition.
An error occurred while restoring the disk to a single partition."
Disk Utility let me wipe it but I still can't mount it, either, again suggesting I run first aid on it (this does nothing). I can't boot into the Mac's Recovery mode either. It just jumps straight to Internet Recovery. When I hold option upon boot, all three partitions show up (Mac, Recovery, Windows), but when I click the recovery one it loads for a bit and then the laptop just instantly shuts off.... I'm more than a little frightened now. Have I corrupted my internal harddrive perchance?

You should be able to do it from Internet Recovery or you can try to add the Recovery partition back.

Problem is you're doing what a lot of beginners do, trying to
    create a
page by using one single table and splitting the cells into
    numerous
cells......that aint going to work as you have found out.
It doesn't help either that you are allowing Fireworks to
    generate this
code. When you do that it normally produces fragile code that
    the
browser tries its best to interpret and a lot of times fails
The design you're trying to produce is a fairly basic 2
    column table
which you should ideally set up directly in Dreamweaver.
A sticking plaster option would be to remove all the elements
    in your
navigation side bar and merge that column back into one
    single cell. You
can do that by click-dragging in Dreamweaver then in the
    properties
inspector where it says 'cell' in the bottom left corner
    click the white
square icon which will merge all the cells into one.
The downside to this is that it may upset the fragile code
    created by
Fireworks and throw your page into even more turmoil.
If it does work you then need to insert another table (a
    nested table)
into the cell which you merged back into one. Then put your
    navigation
    buttons into it.
Tables that are independent of one another cannot interact
    and so you
create a more stable environment for your design.

  • Finder not working correctly in Leopard

Hi. Just upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 on my PPC G5. Some problems have arisen during the course of the upgrade, all of which I've been able to resolve except this last one (hope it's the last). All my apps are running smoothly and the system is nice and snappy.
A problem has come up with Finder all of a sudden. I can use it but when I enter something in the search window, all my view options disappear and I get a message saying "there are no view options for the "Searching "drive name"" window. The results of my search will display but there are no little black arrows before the folders in list view and column view is dimmed and inaccessible. The only way I can see what's in the folder is to dbl-click it. If I clear the search window, everything returns to normal but then I'm in another window. I tried Repairing Disk Permissions and trashing "com.apple.finder.plist" and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist" but no change. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks. I don't use Spotlight either but I do search in Finder and actually, when I went back into Tiger I noticed that after entering anything in Finder's search window, the little black arrows disappear from in front of the folders under that OS too. The Finder feature that I really miss from Tiger is that after a search is run, contents display in groups according to the "any" category (folders, documents, applications, etc.) and you can twirl the arrow on those groups to close up or display their contents which I found very convenient.
