Finder Preview image size

Is there any way to get a larger Finder Preview image size?
( I've already got the column view very wide )

Hello Williams
I guess you want this:
Goto any Folder... Press Cmd+J.. this appears a Box with tab Icon Size...
No, I'm not talking about ICON size. I want a larger Document Preview size in the "Columns Display" mode of the Finder. Select a Jpeg image, then click the little triangle "Preview" to see a preview of the image file.
There is a max size that is used, and to scan quickly through a folder of images, you can turn on the "Preview image", and then use the down-arrow on the keyboard to quickly step through the images..... But... I'd like to be able to set them to a larger size than the Finder currently allows.
There must be some parameter in one of the Prefs files or some such which controls the max size the Finder will show...
Anyone?
Thanks!

  • Finder & Quicklook image size

    Hi,  Sometime ago, I noticed that Quicklook started showing smaller versions of images rather than zoomed to fill the screen, then today, when I click on an image in column-view in Finder, I get little thumbnail size previews in the far right column with a white frame around them, even if I have the size of that column set very large.  What happened?  How do I get Quicklook and Finder to fill the available space with the image again?
    Thanks.

  • How to find out image size (in pixels) of jpg and gif files

    this seems to work, though i doubt that it would very time:
                   Image img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("car.jpg");
                   int w = img.getWidth(null);
                   int h = img.getHeight(null);
                   while(w <= 0 || h <= 0)
                      try{Thread.sleep(10);}catch(InterruptedException ix){}
                      w = img.getWidth(null);

    We've a requirement that we need to find out the size of a java object at run time, is there a direct java API to get the size of a composite object in memory?
    Here is my requirement: We are adding string objects (which is an xml string of considerable size) into a List. After reaching certain size limit (lets say 5MB) of the list i need to put this data into DB as a CLOB. So every time I add a string object to the list, I need to see if the total size of the list exceeds the limit and if yes, flush the results into DB.
    I am not sure if java has a direct API for this, if not what is the beast way to do it, it s critical requirement for us.
    It would be really great if someone could help us out.
    >
    Could you explain your actual requirement a little more fully.
    1. Is each individual string a separate XML string? Or is it just a fragment? Why would you just concatenate them together into a CLOB? That won't produce valid XML and it won't let you easily separate the pieces again later. So provide a simple example showing some strings and how you need to manipulate them.
    2. Are you using these xml strings in Java at all? Or are you just loading them into the database?
    For example if you are just loading them into the database you don't need to create a list. Just create a CLOB in Java and append each string to the CLOB. Before you append each one you can check to see if the new string will put you over your length limit. If it will then you write the CLOB to the database, empty the CLOB and start appending again to the new clob instance.
    If you explain what you are really trying to do we might be able to suggest some better ways to do it.

    You may also be talking about the "Info" window. To open it, go to Window > Info or hit command+F8. It will show you the dimensions of the bounding box containing whatever object you have selected.

  • Jpeg preview images -- how to check

    Whenever I take my USB stick to a photolab to print images, if I don't save from Photoshop with "Image Previews" turned off (and most of the time I forget to turn it off), the dopy photolab machine recognises the previews as separate images and presents them as printable images (which they are not – they will print heavily pixellated).
    Is there any way of checking in the Finder whether an image has a preview embedded – the kind that a photolab recognises – and be able to remove the preview if there is one? Or is this a Photoshop thing?
    Note: this preview image I'm talking about does not appear to be the same preview as the Finder uses. Images saved from Photoshop with Image Previews turned on or off (Preferences > File Handling > File Saving Options > Image Previews > Never Save/Always Save), both have previews on the Desktop.

    Thanks for the responses.

    "It's not clear what you're referring to when you say a Finder preview image; are you referring to QuickLook, which is a feature of Snow Leopard?"
    I was not aware of QuickLook. The preview images are the ones that Finder shows you in "icon" format.
    Fane_J
    I'm using Photoshop CS4.
    "…and another file containing the resource fork, with the same name and the prefix "._". This file is invisible…"
    That's the one! I get two of every image and one of them has the underscore. The Fuji Lab warns you that it will not print properly, but it will allow you to print them. It has happened several times when friends want me to edit their images and I save them to their USB sticks – but forget to turn off preview. They get back to me complaining about the quality of the images when they choose the wrong one.
    The Fuji Lab I am talking about is like this one: http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/images/fujifilm_DPC.jpg
    The Fuji Lab also recognises every image in the trash. So if you have 500 images in the trash, and want to print only one image, you'll get 501 images to select from. What I mess.
    I suspect it has something to do with the way PCs and the Fuji Lab interpret images, as a friend who uses a Mac to save Photoshop images onto a USB stick, and then takes them to the local camera club for projection, also complained to me (I was the one who suggested he use a USB stick) that the PC used for projection was picking up everything in the trash. He wanted to project half a dozen images, but several hundred came up.
    Problem does not seem to occur if I burn to CD and use the CD to print or project images.
    So the situation is: if I save images (preview on) from Photoshop onto a USB stick, the Fuji Labs recognise two images for each image, one of which has an underscore. All images in the trash are also recognised. Same seems to apply when read by a PC.
    What does saving a preview image in Photoshop do anyway? Is it necessary? Maybe I should just turn off "Save Preview" and leave it off.
    You mentioned FAT32. If I reformatted the USB stick to a different format, would that fix the problem?

  • Can you change the size of the preview images on an Apple TV without changing video resolution?

    I have a 32 inch LCD TV. My room is relatively large and I can't easily see the preview images or read the text on the TV across the room. Is it possible to change the size of preview images in the menu screens without increasing the resolution of the TV itself? I think this should be possible, but can't seem to find a way to do it.

    No that's not something you can do on the Apple TV.
    If you have any suggestions that you think might enhance the Apple TV you can send Apple your feedback here.

  • 10.9.3 finder cover flow doesn't save image size

    I went from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.3. Everything went ok, but I have one annoying problem though.
    Everytime I open a cover flow window in Finder I have to resize the image preview section. The Finder window size is saved,
    but not the actual image size of the cover flow. It always goes back to a default, very small, size everytime I reopen the Finder window.
    Didn't have this problem in Snow Leopard. It worked great. I just know one other person with the same problem. He just bought his MacBook Pro with Mavericks
    and I am on a late 09 MacBook. So it shouldn't be a problem with just my Mac and Mavericks.
    So my question is;
    Will there be any solution to this soon? Maybe a program update to be released, regarding this issue?
    Thank you for any feedback!

    Ok, more information for anyone that might care. The wake-up seems to be the familiar dark wake in order to go into hibernate mode. Except now, it's a death wake. Looking at the logs, I see that it happens exactly 70 minutes after sleeping, even though hibernatemode = 0 (which shouldn't hibernate at all!)
    So my power settings look like this:
    Currently in use:
    standbydelay         4200
    standby              1
    halfdim              1
    hibernatefile        /var/vm/sleepimage
    darkwakes            0
    gpuswitch            2
    disksleep            10
    sleep                10
    autopoweroffdelay    14400
    hibernatemode        0
    autopoweroff         1
    ttyskeepawake        1
    displaysleep         2
    acwake               0
    lidwake              1
    standbymode is 70 minutes, what a coincidence. I'm going to try setting it to 0 and see what that does.

  • When previewing images by clicking on the thumbnail in an Event for example, I've been finding that many images preview in a 'zoomed in' way so only a small part of the photos is previewed in a highly magnified view.

    When previewing images by clicking on the thumbnail in an Event for example, I've been finding that many images preview in a 'zoomed in' way so only a small part of the photos is previewed in a highly magnified view.
    Initially I could find no cause. Then I tried right click - Edit and on the affected images, always get this warning:
    "Image Cannot Be Edited - This photo was previously edited with another application or with an early version of Iphoto. Duplicate this photo to edit it." and a "Duplicate To Edit" Button is displayed.
    The external Editor defined for iPhoto is Adobe Photoshop Elements.
    Now, I reckon the MUST be others out there affected by this same apparent Preview bug, yet my searches have not revealed any answers.  Also seems impossible to find a contact number for adobe???

  • How can you find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas

    This is probably a really really simple question but I can't for the life of me find how I can find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas. eg I have 3 photos i want to arrange 1 large and the other two next to it half the size. How can I edit individual image size on the canvas as when I select the image on a sperate layer I want to resize it just resizes the entire canvas and not the individual image
    Thanks

    I want to know they exact dimensions though. You can get them by dragging to the 0,0 corner and then reading off of the ruler scale on the sides but its fiddily as you have to zoom right in and work it out. I know in photoshop there is a ruler but is there any other way in Elements?

    How to find out the image size values(Width and height) in illustrator CS3 using any script. I tried but i got only the document height and width. I need to find out the image BoundingBox value of width and height. Kindly advice me.

    Try this.
    tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
    set heightImage to get height of raster item 1 of current layer of current document
    set widthImage to get width of raster item 1 of current layer of current document
    display dialog (heightImage & " X " & widthImage) as string

  • When I have resized and saved an image in Photoshop (CS, version 8.0 for Mac) using image size, why is it so large when I open it in preview or another image viewer? Has it actually saved according to the size I specified?

    When I have resized and saved an image in Photoshop (CS, version 8.0 for Mac) using image size, why is it so large when I open it in preview or another image viewer? Has it actually saved according to the size I specified?

    You want to view the image at the Print Size, which represents the size that shows in the Image>Resize Dialog.
    View>Print Size
    Since screen resolution is almost always lower that the print resolution (somewhere between 72 and 96 usually), images will always look bigger on the screen, unless you view them at print size.
    (apple Retina displays have a much higher resolution than normal screens, closer to the average print size resolution)

  • Can't find button to update image size

    I'm looking for the equivalent button in Dreamweaver CC. in CS5 when you clicked on an image, in the property pane you would see the image dimensions and next to it was a curved arrow.  This arrow would update the image size to the real size.  This was very convenient because if I made an image a different size in Photoshop it would not automatically update unless I clicked that curved button. I used that all the time.  I can't find it in Dreamweaver CC.   Is it gone?

    I don't think that's the issue. The button described is gone from CC.
    There are two others that replaced it though. A circle with line through it (we'll call the no smoking sign) and a checkmark.
    If you hit the checkmark, it updates the actual file to whatever dimensions are used in the html. If you hit the no smoking sign, it goes to actual size, unless you hit the checkmark at any point prior to hitting the no smoking sign.
    EDIT: I do find it odd that the checkmark will bring up a dialogue warning you that the original file will be updated, but only gives you the option of "OK". Seems like there should be a "Cancel" in there too, but it's not, just a note to use Undo if you don't want the original resized.

  • Preview images slow to load in Finder

    I've just upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.4.6 and I'm having a bothersome issue with the preview images in Finder loading very slowly. This is most noticable with large high res Photoshop files. Why is this happening and is there a fix?
    Thanks in advance for any and all help.

    I'm having similar issues, but with almost all previews. It's made using the finder almost impossible lately. It seems to work just snappy if I change the view to icon or list before I click on an files, but I really got used to working in the column view. I'm searching the forums now for more info.

  • No preview image in finder window

    After upgrading from Jaguar to Tiger, photo preview images from Adobe Photo Deluxe (system 9) do not appear. Instead file info is displayed. How can I fix this? This feature worked fine in Jaguar.

    I,m not sure why that feature would not work in Panther and not Tiger. Since this is is specific to older Abobe software you may want to check on the adobe forums.
