FINDER relaunches itself after every 6th right click

Hey, my macbook pro has been doing some strange things. Every 6th right click anywhere on the finder results in a crash and relaunch of FINDER application. It also stops the CD burning process. Updates are not helping either.
Anyone else suffering from the same problem?

I had a similar problem on my iMac. I ignored it until the finder started popping up ANY time I clicked on the desktop. Genius bar suggested I try to reinstall Tiger and that seemed to work. Good luck!

Hi everyone, I have had a day of clearing things out, but now, my window Im working in within finder is disappearing on every 6th right click, so imagine I am looking at my folder and I right click to get info or the like, the window will disappear and all the icons on the desktop will disappear and then reappear a second late, no quit message just disappear, I have done a full Onyx cleanup, but still there, I am using Transmission a lot, but have only had this problem for 24 hours, could it be torrent related, I did upgrade stuffit last night, but apart from that no other system changes.
Any ideas?

Dubaimac: Looks like you can put all your contextual menu plug-ins back except the Stuffit-CM plugin if Dan's experience applies to yours as well.
Of course there is a chance that two different plug-ins are fighting each other trying to do things that while done separately would be legal, but done together cause the Finder to crash..
Dan Frimi: Did you have any other contextual plug-ins besides the StuffitCM plugin in your contextual menu items plugin folder? Looking to see if maybe there were other common plug-ins to eliminate this possibility.
If we can determine that you both had different other plug-ins, then we can isolate the StuffitCM as the sole cause of this issue, and you should both write complaints to their tech support department about the plug-in to get a fix... Dan, did you check to see if there was an update for that plug-in?

They will only be where you put them If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country. You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

Finder re-starts every 3rd right click

Description pretty much states this strange and new behavior, ever since I updated to 10.4.10.
Right clicking on my desk top three times in a row results in finder restart.
even if I right click on a folder or icon it happens but if I am using an actual app
it doesn't happen.
I first noticed when I was toasting some files(right click to toast menu)

It sounds like an item in HD/Library/Contextual Menu Items. Drag the contents of that folder to the desktop and test again. If that sorts it put the items back one at a time to find the culprit..
If that's not it, navigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and do the same.

Mail keeps relaunching itself after quit.

I have this issue with Apple Mail. It launches itself fairly quickly after I log in (no, it is NOT set to do that, Open at Login is not checked) and if I quit the app, it almost immediately relaunches itself again, and again, and again. It is, as expected, independent of the "check mail" setting, and does this even when that is set to Manual. Which I would expect, as I have never seen the check mail option launch the app.
Anyone have a clue as to what this might be? If I did not know better, I would think that someone put a 1 second cron job in to launch mail as a joke (does not appear to the case), but that is how it acts, relaunches right after quitting.
Running 10.5.6 on a new Macbook, 2 GB memoy
Any suggesitons on where to look would really be appreciated.

Well, of course, I have been chasing this for months, and JUST today, I decide to post the question here, and just today, I discovered the answer myself. Painstakingly I removed programs one at a time and re-logged in.
I discovered that when I removed the Soonr backup software "Soonr Desktop Agent" the problem went away. This agent scans your computer for things that need to be backed up, it has an option to also backup mail and address book data as well. Seems they feel they need to launch mail to do that, and that they need to launch it all the time for some reason. When I turned off the agent, the problem went away.
Turning the agent back on, I unchecked the "Enable retrieval of content from Mail and Address Book" and mail stopped launching itself immediately but backup seems to run, but perhaps not backing up mail now. Oh well.
I will report that as a bug to Soonr, but strange that it feels it needs to launch Mail to get data but not the address book.
Sorry all, problem solved by myself. Left here for reference.

Mouse right click throttled/not detected after burst of right clicks

I have a problem with the right click of my mouse after sending a "burst" of clicks (I cant really count but its at least 1/sec).
I noticed this problem first when trying to play Dota2, I have not yet tested if I can reproduce the problem from any other application.
The problem carries on after closing Dota2. I ran xev afterwards to see if it detects the right clicks accordingly but it also misses a lot of right-clicks, left clicks and mouse movement work flawlessly. The problem occurs with different window manager (i3 and awesome).
Steps to reproduce:
- Start Dota2, join a game
- Do a lot of right clicks
- After a short burst of right clicks a lot of right clicks are not registered, making it nearly impossible to play
- Quit Dota2
- Still miss a lot of right clicks

Finder relaunches itself every minute!

For the last couple of weeks the window focus mysteriously shifts away from the finder while I am working with it. Also, the finder window does frequent refreshes - even if it doesn't lose focus. And the desktop icons flicker and refresh quite often. I just deleted the finder plist and the problem continues.. It often closes and reopens, having returned to my home folder. In fact the finder is unuseable, it happens so often. I have a 30 day trial of Pathfinder installed until I can get Finder working again.
Can anyone suggest how to solve this irritation? Thanks a million! John

Boot into Safe Mode and see if you still see the problem while running in Safe Mode. If not, then you have some third-party software causing the Finder to crash.

There were some third-party menu bar items that caused that, and I think Google Drive, but I'm not sure (it caused some problem).

Disk utility finds new errors after every reboot

My problem: every time I reboot my computer, disk utility shows minor corruption of the catalog, attributes, and free space maps on my internal drive. If I boot into the Recovery partition and use Disk Utility to repair the drive, the repair succeeds, and runnin Verify Disk shows a clean file system. But once I boot into the OS from the HD, shut down, and restart, a new set of disk errors appears. The errors are never exactly the same (in mismatch of clusters, for example) but are always off by a few percent.
Things that may be related:
This is a new (1-wk-old) MBP 17" (late 2011 model), which I bought to replace an older 15" MBP running OSX 10.6. I used Migration Assistant to move my data and apps from a Time Machine backup of the old laptop to the new laptop. I then made a Time Machine backup of the new laptop, replaced the factory HD with a Seagate Momentus 720GB, 7200 rpm drive, and used Time Machine to do a complete restore of OS and data onto the new drive. I later used Bootcamp assistant to create an NTFS partition (which doesn't ever show errors).
Things I've already tried to fix the problem that haven't worked:
--Repaired disk permissions as well as the disk structure.
--Using the online recovery tool to do a complete reinstallation of Lion (preserving my data and apps, so not a clean install).
--Using TechToolPro DVD to do a deeper analysis and repair of the disk's volume structure. The repair succeeded, but the disk errors came right back.
--Uninstall every utility or extension that might possibly affect the hard drive.
--Disable all login items using the Accounts preferences pane.
--Disabled Spotlight by moving the entire volume into the Private area in Spotlight preferences.
--Reset the PRAM.
--Reset the SMC.
No joy from any of these. I haven't tried running fsck (is there any reason to?). I'd love to track down the program that is causing the disk corruption, but don't know how to do that.
I would be most grateful for any suggestions on diagnosing and permanently fixing this problem, as it does seem to make my system unstable and prone to crashing.

Thanks for responding. Yes, I should have mentioned that I used the TechToolPro boot DVD to do a thorough SMART scan on the drive as well as a full scan for bad sectors. No problems were found. I also did a long scan of the RAM to rule out memory errors.
I did remove the new drive and replaced it, taking extra care to ensure the connector was seated properly. But the disk corruption/repair/corruption cycle still reoccured.
I haven't put the factory drive back in to check whether the problem affects that (smaller, slower) drive as well. If it does, should I conclude that I have a H/W problem with, e.g. the drive controller chip or the drive cable in the laptop?
I wonder if this might be related to another problem I'm seeing with the laptop, which is that the lid closure doesn't work--the OS isn't able to detect when the lid is closed. It looks like the wire to the sensor goes through the same cable bundle as the SATA cable. Perhaps there is a defect in that bundle or connector.
I will try the factory disk. If the problem doesn't show up with that, then I guess I should focus again on the possibility of a defective HD. Is there some utility other than TechTool that would do an even more thorough check of the HD?

ITunes relaunches itself after closing (Windows 7)

Yesterday was all OK, but today after I closed iTunes is restarted itself. Nothing was changed with the system since yesterday. I've found a couple of topics with the same problem, but they're both about MacOS. I have this problem on Windows 7.

after that I think the only way that will help you is restore the iPhone and the bad news are that you should do it without restore a backup after cause you're problem could be saved in the backup of the phone too so you must manually reinstall apps, preferences etc etc

Windows 8.1 resets startup disk to itself after every update

Hello,
I'm on a late 2014 Macbook Pro 15" retina, running bootcamp with Yosemite on one partition and Windows 8.1 on the other. I prefer OSX as my default startup disk, but every time Windows updates it resets the default startup disk to Windows. Of course I can change it manually, but this gets tedious. Does anyone know a fix for this? Any help would be appreciated.

You have screwed up your system and you're blaming the crashes on someone else. You need to stop thinking it's someone else's problem. Keeping your system healthy is your responsibility.
There is NO upgrade path from preview/evaluation copies to the released versions, anyway, so it really doesn't matter. You have to reinstall
something.
You could reinstall 8.0 and upgrade, or you could get an 8.1 disc and put that in as a fresh install (more expensive, but my recommendation), or you could see if maybe this can help you:

You mean this ThisService? Never heard of it before.
Why don't you create services using Automator (in /Applications)? That's one of the things it is designed to do. It has no problem with making sure they are properly created and installed in ~/Library/Services so that the finder can see them there under the conditions desgnated when you create them. You don't even have to log out and back in.
Note, if you like using applescript you can use applescript in automator too.

Why does finder give me Spanish when I right click?

Why is it that finder gives me half Spanish and half English options? I don't beleive I've done anything to the language settings. Could it be because apple gave me a new hard-drive? Its not distracting me...its just annoying.

It's a bug, and that's Portuguese, not Spanish. Sometimes this can be fixed by going to system preferences/language & text/language and using the Edit button to uncheck the box for Portuguese and restarting.

Finder relaunces after right click...

this is odd. recently, i've noticed that my finder windows will close and the finder will relaunch every once in a while after a right click. after further investigation, i realized it's every THIRD right click. it's like clockwork. it doesn't matter if i'm right clicking with my mighty mouse, or my wireless microsoft mouse or with my trackpad.
this has gotten to be extremely frustrating, any help would be much appreciated.

This is usually indicative of an incompatible Contextual Menu Item. If you've installed any third-party CMIs then I suggest your remove them. Then test each one individually. If they all work then it will be an interaction problem. Start with one, then add one at a time until the problem occurs.
You will need to restart each time you make a change.
CMIs are installed in either the /Library/Contextual Menu Items/ folder or the /Home/Library/Contextual Menu Items/ folder.

Finder quits/closes after 6 right-clicks. PLEASE HELP!

Finder has (seemingly) been quitting/closing randomly since I got my MacPro. I did an archive/install, but that did not fix it. I thought it was random, but recently discovered that after 6 consecutive right-clicks, Finder will quit. The folks at AppleCare were unable to diagnose or resolve the problem. Anyone else having similar issues? Thanks!

Navigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items.
Log out and back in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
